Rose and Crown in Gateshead

Chose this pub because it was near Blaydon RUFC; here to watch Wharfedale RUFC. It had decent reviews… Fish-fingers we’re in fact freshly fried fish gujons, served on a fresh, soft white roll (Stottie?). Absolutely fantastic. Staff were friendly & service was prompt. Thank you

Popped in the rose and crown whilst being on a lovely country walk to be greeted by a barman who was quite mute and didn't understand the concept of dialogue and customer relations, my wife and I decided on a square pizza thinking it would be quite generous at the price of 12.99 , what they served up was absolutely disgusting not only in appearance but taste , never had anything like it , the dough and base was like eating fried ryvita, avoid at all costs as you will be disappointed

We went for lunch on 27th January, ordered 2 burger's, classic cheese burger and chilli beef burger, both with fries and coleslaw, excellent quality and well presented, best burgers I've tasted, totally recommend... Really nice friendly staff, and nice atmosphere

Ordered a Sunday dinner on the Saturday, as requested. Sunday went to collect dinner from the Rose and Crown Winlaton at the time when ordered, waited 10mins only to be told by one of the staff when passing the the dinners that you will have to put the dinners in a oven to heat as they are cold. This is not what I expect from this pub as it has always been a reputable place to eat and drink. If I had not payed I would have not excepted and walked out. Unfortunately I will not be ordering food again from the rose and crown it’s a shame as the food is always lovely.

First time to this pub, served by a lovely waitress, meals were delicious and plentiful. Inside and out was spotless, will return.

This is a great friendly pub with a very restaurant. I’ve visits a few times for food but recently sampled one of the chef specials which was the best meal I’ve had for a very long time. Steak stuffed with mozzarella and a a garlic tomato and fried potatoes dumpling dressing. It was first class....

Very nice Sunday lunch for a pub, tasty appealing, medium meals Ideal for people with a smaller appetite, they certainly don't scrimp on portions. Even though it was busy they had enough staff to deal with everyone in good time.

As I am a fussy eater, my meal of choice is gammon. Ordered one here and it tasted strange so I asked my girlfriend to try it and she agreed that it did taste strange so I sent it back. The chef came out and started to argue that there was nothing wrong with it. I think I only got a refund as there was 8 of us eating. Next time I got a beef baguette sandwich and chips, you could of played cricket with the baguette so I complained to the barmaid who took my plate away and she said she would tell the manager, nothing happened.

Great live bands, good range of ales and other drinks. Good food.Friendly and attentive staff. clean and comfortable.

Just popped in for a cheeky lunch today and we weren't disappointed! Good selection on the specials board. Turkey dinner for the wife and Sautéed chicken breast in a red pepper sauce with chunky homemade chips and salad for me! Didn't have to wait too long for a table and very pleasant service too!!

New to the area but have this place spot on, very friendly and good beer, I tried the Tapas today, they were absolutely perfect. Would recommend the place for both a good beer and very good food.

We've been going to this Pub for a good number of years now for a drink but this was our first time for Sunday lunch since the relatively new landlord took over. We arrived at 12.30pm as a last minute decision after a spot of shopping, only to find every table in the dining area was 'reserved'! (Good sign) We were immediately offered an alternative table in the bar but it appeared that some diners were running quite late we were then offered and accepted their reserved but vacant table. We decided on the two course lunch (£9.95 each) with a the delicious homemade Lentil and vegetable soup to start and roast lamb with a plentiful serving of seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy for our main course! There's quite a large and varied range of beers, wines and spirits available here and my particular tipple of the day was a well kept pint of Directors Ale! There some quite tempting specials for midweek diners available too, definitely trying soon!!!

Lots of tables were reserved when we arrived but they gave us a table for 2 within 5 minutes. Nobody came to take our order so I ordered at the bar (not sure if thats the way the ordering works) so cant complain. We opted for a small beef and a small lamb sunday roast My partner commented that his was really nice and just enough food with an extra jug of gravy. My lunch was also nice but the lamb was upto standard (my only complaint) All the veg was hot and cooked to our likling. Will definatley go again but maybe try something different

I along with my Mum and Dad decided to try the Rose and Crown which it certainly did not disappoint. On arrival we were greeted by 2 friendly staff before choosing a table, once sat down we had a look at the Menu and were all stuck on what to choose as it's one of them menu's where you quite happily choose everything. Customer service was top notch and they knew what they were talking about in regards to deals and the menu. Both staff members were smiling at all times when communicating and giving us eye contact, also nothing was a bit of bother to them. The food was cooked to absolute perfection, really piping hot and soooo delicious. It really all was to die for, we have now found a new favourite which we will not only be coming back again and again but also verbally recommending to friends, family and everyone!

Enjoyed a pleasant light snack lunch in this country pub. Friendly Irish landlord, pleasant, numerous sitting areas, cosy lounge and eating areas. Food nicely served and reasonably priced. Dog friendly. Carpark

By far the best pub in Winlaton. The only one with any class really. Ww had a lovely Sunday lunch there. Always a nice pint of Directors there as I like my cask ale. Quite spacious with a pleasant atmosphere. Recommended.

After just moving into the area recently we have tried most of the pubs here, and this one is in a league if it’s own. We had Sunday lunch and it was superb. The meals throughout the week are as good. The staff are lovely, very friendly and communicative. The decor is tasteful, but the best thing is no horse racing!! Most of the other pubs are like licienced bookies!

Plenty of parking spaces available. We've passed this place many times over the years - sorry guys. Wanting to find different local eateries, we popped in recently. Pleasantly surprised by the decor, and a friendly welcome. Food arrived in good time, we both enjoyed scampi and chips with a lovely tartar sauce. We had the main meal but left puds as they were very sugary, toffee orientated, but then we don't often have desserts. Will be back to sample more of the menu.

The Rose and Crown offers first class food and drink and is a regular haunt of ours. The menu is excellent and fabulous value for money. Everything is cooked freshly and is homemade (homemade chips too). We’ve also used as a venue for three social events / parties in the past and all were fabulous.

Went with our daughter and my husband on the off chance and was suitably impressed

This pub has significantly improved under the new management. Both the decor on the outside and inside has been improved and the dining area is immaculate. The pub also has a large car park and a beer garden.

Abbiamo scelto questo locale avendo sentito dell'ottima musica provenire da uno dei tetti del centro. In effetti ci hanno fatto accomodare nella terrazza all'ultimo piano del locale che sebbene non goda di una vista particolare, ha un'atmosfera tutta sua che la rende davvero piacevole. Abbiamo ordinato dei nachos pensando di fare un piccolo aperitivo ma vista la qualità e soprattutto le dimensioni della porzione, l'aperitivo si è trasformato in cena accompagnata da una delle ottime birre locali. Da tenere presente nelle lunghe serate estive dov'è il sole tramonta quasi alle 10:00pm.

Night out with the girls and kids, food was lovely excellent portions, tasty, we all left clean plates, drink is reasonably priced too

Había oído que la comida aquí era precioso, así que decidí intentarlo y sin duda no nos decepcionó que tenía casa y patatas fritas tarta de hecho era precioso y a un precio razonable. También tenía un castillo la Visualizaciã³n que los niños disfrutaron de unas horas. Voy a regresar en este sábado con amigos para disfrutar de una comida diferente

Mi pareja y yo, a la espera de amigos decidimos comer algo que la comida era buena y no mal de precio y la señorita que sirve la comida era muy agradable, aunque otros miembros del personal no es tan propensa a servir y más interesado en charlar pero en general no está mal

Had a nice meal at the Rose and crown. Food average and quite pricey for a local pub. Pleasant room not over crowded. Have also been for Sunday lunch which was average. Large car park.

A lovely old fashioned pub with excellent food and really good service have been numerous times lunch and evening and have always had brilliant service and fantastic food

Went Thursday for lunch me mam &my; sister . we all really enjoyed our lunch . ceaser salad was really good . mam had scampi &she; said it was lovely. First visit but we will return

Would recommend. Lovely fresh.. Just like 'mams' Sunday lunch. Only one thing.. My beef dinner came out first and we did have to wait a little while for my daughters chicken dinner. However once it was mentioned staff we're onto it quickly.

I went to the Rose and Crown with my partner in the summer to try the early evening menu. It is rather cheap and I have to say the food was fabulous. I had the chicken fajitas which were served on a skillet. Impressive. I would highly recommend this place for a nice evening meal for 2 or with the kids. Good food and good to the bank balance too!

I visited for the first time in many years and was delighted with the service and quality of the food.I will certainly visit again
