Hartford Hall Pub in Cheshire West and Chester

A good stay but some details overlooked. My room bin was not emptied from the previous guests. Ornaments in the room on the shelving not dusted for quite some time. Hand wash empty, not replenished from previous guests. It was a lovely warm room, the window was easy to open, it was nice to have the radio already on when we arrived. The bed was really comfortable. polite check-in staff. I Paid for two superior King rooms, friends we were staying with paid less for a cosy King, but were given an upgrade that was nice. We Enjoyed a lovely evening meal, negative reviews on the food seem unfair. The restaurant staff in general are polite but definitely not friendly. I would feel intimidated to complain through fear of getting into a heated exchange. Lots of eye rolling behind managers back, and generally a tense atmosphere because of this.

I've stayed here a few times on work training courses and am looking for an excuse to stay up here just for the rooms. I've never paid much attention to interior design in a hotel until coming here, and now nothing else compares. You can't go wrong with anything on the dinner menu. All of it is exceptional. I wouldn't say the breakfast is as good as the dinner and rooms but still rate this place as 5 stars. The pub downstairs is cool, nice garden, lots of parking, friendly staff. I look forward to staying here every time.

This gastropub deserves a 5 star rating for its rooms. The room was well appointed, excellently designed, and created a warm relaxing atmosphere on arrival (I was particularly impressed with the heating already on and the low volume digital radio playing). We ate very good food at their restaurant during the evening and partaked in very enjoyable cocktails (definitely try the Paloma cocktail - perfectly refreshing). Save for the waiter who had forgotten to provide the parmesam cheese we had asked for, it was a faultless experience. The location is on the outskirts of Northwich, but as the town centre had very little to appeal for us (we had explored the centre during the daytime and found no bar or restaurant which could remotely tempt our custom) it does not really matter.

The room was clean and you didn't have to pay extra for parking! As a nice gimmick I found the internet radio in the room!

Beautiful place, wonderful friendly staff, excellent food and beer. Thoroughly recommend it for a meal or a few drinks. Not the cheapest place I've ever eaten at, but the quality of service and food more than justifies the reasonable price of what's on offer.

Well one of the waitresses here has a bad attitude. I order a HALF pint, comes back with a pint, no worries, excuse me I ordered a half. Scowls at me, shakes her head and walks off in a major huff as if it’s my fault. Get your orders right and change your attitude silly dried up woman.

We really enjoyed our meal pre flight out of Manchester. Service was great, wish we had been in UK for Mother’s Day as the set menu looked fabulous. Would return in an instant! Building is so well kept for its age!

Booked five weeks in advance to celebrate my Mums 80th birthday and requested the ‘alcove’ table as it was tucked away slightly making it a more cosy family meal for her. We were told that they couldn’t promise we would get that table so I phoned nearer the time to check and was told that it would be ok. We arrived at Hartford Hall to find that the ‘alcove’ table was taken and we were seated right in the middle of the main restaurant area (far too noisy with aging parents who are hard of hearing). As soon as we sat down we were told we only had 2 hours as they had a big party arriving at 8! Our drinks order was taken and we viewed the menu. Of our table of seven, four had to rethink their choice of starter as it wasn’t available and one had to rethink their main, we hadn’t been told of any meals not being available. One meal turned up cold and was sent back, by the time a new meal arrived the rest of our party had finished eating! One member of staff was very apologetic and did keep us updated regarding the new meal and advised that we would get a discount off the total bill. Food was ok but nothing special! Tables around us were rearranged while we ate in readiness for the large party they were expecting. Ordered more drinks once the meal was finished and these never arrived so we cancelled them, 8pm was fast approaching and we needed to leave ready for the large party to arrive! Very disappointing experience especially as it was to celebrate my Mums 80th! Won’t be returning again

Mothers Day meal with family - don’t normally do reviews but I don’t understand how you can be told it’s normal menu at the time of booking to be then told it’s £29.50 compulsory 3 course meal when you sit down! We didn’t want a 3 course meal or have stroppy staff serve you , long delays and just bad service from start to finish! £140 later and we’re pretty much done with this place , back to Bulls Head in future!

The rump steak I have been served I must say is one of the poorest cuts of meats I’ve ever had, I’ve been coming here for years so hopefully it is a one off but it was truely awful, I would avoid eating steak here.

Me and my girlfriend came here for Chippy Tuesday. Food was nicely priced (as per the promotion) the drinks were a little pricey but overall bill was very reasonable. Lovely food, lovely dining area and the smell of the proper wood/coal fires was really good. The toilets were absolutely spotless

Went here with two friends a few weeks ago, all of us 22. Two of us ordered soft drinks and one ordered a bear. The young blond boy at the bar stated that we all needed to show our ID’s even though only one of us was drinking. I appreciate the adherence to the rules, however after a half an hour round trip to pick up our ID’s, they were never checked (even after the apparent ‘9pm cutoff for under 18’s’ that he had warned us about.) I have no problem showing ID in accordance to laws, but please stick to the rules that you enforce. Fuel is not cheap.

Insane prices here, £22 for two medium sized glasses of wine? They werent even that nice it tasted akin to house red that you'd pay £5 a bottle for in Tesco's.

The margarita pizza was amazing, the service was quick and the servers were very polite. I recommend a pizza as they are humongous and taste amazing and you get to cut them up yourself. The prices here are also so good, better than most restaurants👍👍👍

Big car park, lovely building, modern, clean & comfortable rooms, nice selection of teas, Nespresso machine, hot chocolate and biscuits. Also had dressing gowns which was a nice touch, also had a radio. Nice selection of drinks, Burger was nice but the pasta was not, didn’t have any flavour and was bland, nothing special especially for the price… Breakfast was lovely, maybe have the option to add banana/blueberry’s/ strawberries to the porridge potentially? All staff were lovely and professional:)

The room was fantastic and it's a great place to stay. Very cosy and a really comfortable bed. However, I'd highly recommend not eating here as the food was absolutely appalling, both at breakfast and for dinner. The lady serving breakfast was rude and the evening staff added things onto our bill we hadn't actually ordered. The shoddy dining experience and terrible food did dampen our stay, and this would be a 5 star review otherwise as the room was wonderful.

Christmas Eve meal with the family. Table for 4 booked. Unfortunately my son was ill on the day so just 3 of us turned up. 5.30pm booking. Lady on the door was only concerned that we clearly understood that the £10 deposit for my son was not returnable. I do know what a deposit is for. I asked if it could be used for a dessert doggie bag for my son and she told me that I would need to speak to the order team about that. Lady seemed quite senior so not sure why she couldn’t explain as she was front of house staff. The two young ladies and one young man who looked after us at the table turned this initial experience around. They were friendly, helpful and offered the take away dessert free of charge. Starters were good, although there were some raw carrot sticks with the salad. The mains and deserts were excellent. Table position average with lots of staff at one point rushing past us endlessly, setting up a big table for an imminent arrival. Overall, some of the food was delicious and the service mixed. Fortunately due to the young staff waiting on us, the dinner was pleasant enough. Well done to them, the lady on the door could learn about customer service from them.

The dining room is cosy, the food was excellent, and the service is very friendly. The bar area has a wood fire, lots of places to sit, and is busy without being crowded.

We moved here on 6th November 2023 and this is now our local - always a friendly greeting, excellent customer service, great pub grub and try a pint of the Unicorn.

Hartford Hall was our go to place for Sunday Lunch, we always have our favourite, rib of pork with crackling with all the trimmings and a bottle of red, we’ve taken friends who also loved the experience, since being taken over, changes have crept in, the pork rib became a pork chop without crackling, then on our last visit the chop has become two slices of pork. The food was still lovely and service friendly however there is no wow factor anymore and with dining becoming more expensive it has now forced us to try the local competition…

Met an old friend here for lunch. Never been here before but I will be coming back. Easy to find and get to, good parking, excellent friendly staff, interesting menu, well presented tasty food and good value, what’s not to like. I would also add that my friend is a vegan and from my experience with him at previous lunches he can be disappointed and sometimes awkward about what is presented. Not here he actually complemented the staff on his meal.

The Hotel and the restaurant were just first class. The room was clean, neat and tidy, and plenty of room to move about. The Restaurant was great. Had some friends over for dinner and it was first class. Have to add, great value for money.

We stayed at this hotel as we were attending a party in the area. We were very pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel and pub/restaurant we're. The rooms are all named rather than numbered. They are a good size and nicely furnished. We had breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. It was lovely, hot and plentiful with a good choice although a bit pricey as everything is priced separately. We will return ☺️

The rooms are very well kept and comfortable. The pub is a lovely place and very relaxing. We stayed at the hotel for the blakemere fireworks and will do again next year.
