Massimos at The Log Cabin in Glasgow City

Recently read a review from a Fiona . Wonder what she was expecting! Suggest she go to a pricey restaurant somewhere and pay significantly more and be disappointed. Did not find her review indicative or objective. Our experience was positive across all measure and we used objectivity based on cost and comfort.

Really good value restaurant with excellent food and excellent service. Highly recommended.

I was in with my husband.Got a minestrone soup each and I got a liver meal and he got a penne Arabista for lunch.All was done to a high standard.Got an apple pie and custard. Ok I dropped a point for the portion control of the ministrone. It was very small and I kid you not I got virtually a teaspoon of custard with apple pie.Severe portion control with high class food.really odd.If I went to someone’s house and was offered a tiny ministrone a a teaspoon of custard in a very small square dish.I would think the host was very mingy.I would go back though. But so wrong in some levels.I mentioned this to a young waitress but I picked up imo that she couldn’t care less.The older waitress was nice and I mentioned give chef my compliments,she was more with it saying she would tell chef and got the feeling she was happy we enjoyed the experience

Not a great choice on the menu,but what there was - portion sizes too small - was decent.Had to wait an eternity for our desserts, and were never asked once if we were ok for drinks.Place was busy,but not too busy that the two members of staff could "hide" behind the bar and eat Pringles and look at their phones.Also,dirty cutlery.For the same price range much better going to The Mint in Coatbridge. Won't be back to Massimo's and won't be recommending it to others.

Visited on Sun night , Firstly dont let the outside put you off . Food was super enjoyed by us all . Staff were friendly and very attentive. I loved the scallops for starters they were amazing. Deffo worth a try.

First time here , heard a lot about Massimos , and seeing as I live so close , wanted to try it , I was not disappointed at all , the 2 ladies running the dining room were absolutely lovely, so welcoming and friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu , the food itself was excellent and the lunch menu was such value for money , definitely be back for the a'la carte menu sooner rather than later, outstanding!!!

Met up with my cousin for a wee catch, I was impressed with the menu selection, the starter a great choice, I had the garlic mushrooms my cousin had the prawn cocktail, it had a fabulous topping of salmon.. mains was thd steak pie and I had the braised beef both very enjoyable. Fresh veg and potatoes.. we where too full for deserts but over all a lovely please service and atmosphere.

Heard great things about the food in Massimos from friends and family so had to go and try for myself. Staff were welcoming and attentive from the start, the meal was delicious, couldn`t find a fault.

Went with the wife and had a beautiful meal,the wife said she had the largest and best prawn cocktail she has ever had. Everything else also fantastic

Amazing Summer Menu. The Salmon Starter is outstanding. We are so lucky to have such an amazing restaurant so closely to home. Consistently good and the team looking after their customers are 2nd to none. They always go above and beyond to accommodate and their food is superb!

Restaurant wasn't too busy as it was closing in an hour or so, but the attention we got from the staff was great. Present but not obtrusive. The 4 of us had different dishes, and everyone was really happy with them. Really tasty. There are plenty more dishes we want to have so we will drfinitely to go back!

Nice and quiet when we visited attentive staff and nice food.

Just had the worst experience tonight at Massimo. Took 40 mins to get starter & just got worse with main & dessert. . The beef & mushroom stroganoff was awful. The portion was child size & the meat was so tough I could not eat it. Another 40 mins for dessert, strawberry tart which missed the point of putting strawberries on it. An expected enjoyable night totally ruined by the length of time to get the food, the ridiculous cost for the meagre portions and the ‘tough’ so called beef & mushroom stroganoff. Never again will we visit this establishment.

We were in the bar area watching the football and fancied some food after it. I popped in and spoke to Liz and she managed to squeeze us in after the game. First class in every way yet again and the place is second to none. There’s not many restaurants that you can’t fault and this is certainly one of them. Thanks again!

We visited today for lunch, two adults and our son who is 7. We hadn’t booked a table but Liz kindly said we could sit in the bar area which was actually perfect as Alfie got to watch some football as we waited! Liz was amazing because I had mentioned the I was doing slimming world and she was amazing at recommending things that wouldn’t be too detrimental to my diet!!! My other half had the mussels. Followed by the streak pie which he said was the best steak pie ever! I had the minestrone soup followed by chicken Arrabbiata pasta both lovely. And as for the kid’s menu it was huge he had the mozzarella dippers, a juicy cheese burger & chips followed by chocolate fudge cake! Safe to say Alfie was stuffed! Such a lovely atmosphere we will be back! Thanks 😊

Excellent choice of food and well priced two and three course menu options

My family had Easter Sunday Lunch at Massimo's. It was a bit of a mixed bag. We all had brushetta as a starter. It was a 3 out of 5. Nothing to get excited about. Lasagna a 4, garlic bread with it 5. Beef a 4. My wife gave her lamb a 5. Now at this point I was somewhat disappointed. However all 3 desserts were a 5. Pictures are attached. The coffee walnut cake doesn't look like much but was surprisingly really good. The cheesecake and chewy Meringue were also I triumph. So it was a mixed bag but the 3 excellent desserts tip it into 5 star.

A favourite lunchtime rendezvous. Staff are so welcoming, food is delicious and prices are great. Would definitely recommend.

First time at Massimos at The Log Cabin. To be honest, we were not expecting much, but how wrong were we? From start to finish, the staff were brilliant! We met a couple who have been going since their wee girl was born and she helps set tables after she eats with her parents! The restaurant is like a big living room and it’s a unique and great atmosphere! The food? Oh yes the food! I had scallops to start, penne arabiatta with chicken and amazing homemade lemon & ginger cheesecake! The better half had prawn & salmon cocktail, chicken & broccoli and then ice cream to finish! We can honestly say we've ate in a LOT of Italian restaurants in Glasgow and Massimos is one of the best! Bravo Massimos!

Food is always lovely and at a reasonable price. Staff are very friendly and cheerful and always happy to help. We have been a few times and will continue to go. Massimos is always busy as people enjoy the food and friendly atmosphere.

Had the misfortune to eat here at the weekend. Great service but the food left a lot to be desired. The mussels in white wine hadn't been cleaned properly. The shells should have all the barnacles etc scrapped off before cooking. Couldn't taste the white wine and a little cream would go a long way to take away the impression that they're sitting in a bowl of dirty dishwater. The dauphiniose potatoes which I had expected to taste of cream and garlic were like a greasy block dumped on the plate. On the plus side, the cheeseboard was great. Doubt I'll be back.

My first impression was a very small restaurant with not much atmosphere.Great menu choice 2 courses £15.50 and 3 courses, £19 approx.The service was excellent and all 7 of us enjoyed the starters and main courses.Overall we really enjoyed this restaurant.

Good friendly little local restaurant in Ballieston, not far from the Main Street and just behind the Morissons supermarket, so pretty easy to find and with ample parking in the street and to the car park beside. When we went in the restaurant was really busy on a Saturday night, and as this was the first time here, had booked a table. Seemed to quiten down as the evening went on, but would recommend calling for a reservation. Portion sizes were really good and definitely belly filling. I was driving tonight, so I never got the chance to try any drinks from the bar. Would definitely go back.

Had a beautiful Sunday lunch. The roast beef was so tender served with large Yorkshire puddings, sweet root vegetables and tasty roasties. Plenty dessert specials available and we plumped for the glazed lemon tart with strawberry sorbet! First class service also ! Will be back...

Went to massimos midweek for their market menu. Wasn’t disappointed. Had the lamb goulash which was so delicious. Prices are so reasonable and the customer service is so friendly. Going to book for their Christmas market menu in December!

Food is very very good in here. Chef deserves big respect for the quality of the food. The decor leaves a lot to be desired… however the staff are always pleasant and make up for this. Specials menu is also top notch.

Lunch with friends today food and service excellent

Had lunch here today. Mussels were great and so was the gammon steak. Just a small hint of smokeyness to it. My wife had soup and the battered fish and she loved them both. Friendly staff, prompt service, would highly recommend and will defo be back.

A real hidden gem, we visit frequently and I've never had a bad meal. The staff are lovely, the food is amazing and its great value for money.

Massimos just doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a family friendly pub or a high dining experience? It can't decide and as a consequence does neither well. The food was bland and overpriced. I had the haddock which was flavourless, and came with two sachets of cheap and nasty tartar sauce. The steak pie was mostly gravy with only a few pieces of meat, and to be honest they should serve the "chewy" meringue with a hammer and chisel it was so hard. The service was good and the staff were nice, but overall I was very disappointed. I won't be back.

After seeing pictures on Baillieston Facebook page I decided to try it as the pictures of food looked Amazing. We didn't book and walked in on a Saturday late Afternoon and the place was Full, Great to see this and I knew from then on my experience here was going to be a Great one. We managed to get a nice table for 2 as we agreed to give the table back in 1 hour, so pleased we got a table. Lots of Staff attentively about. We ordered drinks and asked what the specials were I was directed to the board and What a Choice. I quickly choose the Venison, served with a Creamy mash with selections of winter vegetables, my son ordered Mussels for a starter and then the Steak with fries and side salad, his eyes bigger than his belly, he then ordered a side of Onion rings he's was in his Element and So was I. I am passionate and Love Food but it has to have Presentation, be Hot, and has too taste Delicious and I can say this dish of Venison was moist and melted in your mouth the richness from the juices brought my Taste buds Alive and wanting more. I would definitely Recommend dining here # First Impressions count Well Done to the Chef's on Presentation and Taste. The Staff were friendly and Welcoming they couldn't be more helpful.
