Really excellent fish and chips. Not over-salted, the batter was light and crispy, and the flavour was superb. It's across town from us, but we will definitely be back!

The fish is normally very good, but the past couple of times the batter has been different, a lot more greasy. Not sure if the recipe has been changed.

First time trying this place, everything's really clean, even tells you the type of tattie and where the fish has been caught by... I was quite hungry when I ate but it never helped with my score... It's a 6 out of 10,the fish was quite greasy.

Despite being the best chippy in town, the food is average. The place is always fairly clean even when it's so busy and the staff are friendly and polite.

We came here on the way home to fort William for a takeaway with our wee boy. I often crave good fish and chips and more often than not I’m Left feeling unsatisfied. On this occasion however mcleods scored top makes. The smell of the establishment was lovely and clean a testament to how clean the oil being used was and the fish smelled so good while Cooking! I could it was 10/10 fresh. I ordered a small smoked sausage and cups for my son and it came with a carton of apple juice, some hairdo sweets amd some crayons. I thought that it was a nice gesture since I ordered out with the children’s menu to accommodate my sons needs and wants. 10/10 we will be back

I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that you now cater for Coeliacs with your monthly GF night! It’s so good to be included and be able to have my favourite takeaway again. Please keep up the amazing work…great tasting fish supper and curry sauce, my go to everytime. If I could rate you more than 5 stars I would!!

I'd heard such good things about this fish and chip shop but as a coeliac I could never try them before. But they've started doing a gluten free night every month and I was not disappointed! One of the best gluten free fish and chips I've had! The batter was crisp and the fish was huge and tender. There was a 10 minute wait but that was because everything was cooked fresh and it was obviously busy. Will definitely be back!

Long wait & 15p charged for a paper bag. When the government charge is on plastic bags so recit was wrong saying government charge!!!!

Had a real craving for good fish and chips and this is the place to go! It's very busy, so expect a bit of a wait or call ahead. But so worth it. The staff are really friendly and the fish and chips are as good as the reviews say! Really great price for a fish supper and they even had mushy peas and gravy! Wish I lived closer as these might just be the best fish and chips I've ever had!

Ordered a chicken burger and chips. They must have taken offence because the chicken burger is about as disappointing as it gets! One giant chicken nugget between two dry halves of a burger bun, no salad, no sauce, nothing! Avoid the chicken burger at all costs!

Just been to McLeod's for a Saturday evening takeaway. I am local to Inverness, and have supported this chippy over the years. Ordered Scampi and a fishcake supper. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her scampi, chips were good, but the fishcakes were well overcooked and inedible. A one off I hope!!

Fish that actually tastes like fish? Chips that consist of potato and not greasy leftovers? Prices that don't make you want to eat beans on toast instead? Wonderful. This place has all of that. Bit of a wait compared to other chip shops but definitely worth it.

After waiting 25 minutes for my order and with no indication of the time I had to wait.The batter on the fish was soggy and the chip portion was ridiculously small and quality poor at best.Mushy peas were the best bit,from a can I’d imagine.Can’t understand how this place is rated four and a half stars.

Just had a delivery from Macleods fish and chip shop, Inverness. Fish and chips were beautiful and my partner is still ploughing his way through the jumbo jumbo supper! Great value for money, delivered to your door or in our case Raigmore Motel, friendly service and food hot, no wonder this is one of Scotland’s best chip shops.

Mouthwatering, succulent, moist, flavoursome, delicious. Service superb. I don’t know what they do to the haddock, but whatever it is, it’s correct. Ka pai to everyone involved with McLeods.

Customer service absolutely appalling. Called to place an order, guy who answered couldn't care less. Needless to say I went elsewhere. Whoever answered your phone needs a lot of training. Shocking.

Wanted to check it out since summer as had heard this was “scotlands best chip shop”. It didn’t live up to the hype. The fish was soggy, greasy. Chips on the other hand dry. For paying around ten pounds for a regular supper you also don’t get a tartare sauce which was 80p extra. The sauce was probably the highlight of the meal. Would I return? Wouldn’t eat it for free. Ended up throwing it out.

Chippy is crispy but the fish under the crispy batter is dry and flaky. I thought maybe is for this particular order but it happened again my next purchase within the week.

The quality of the fish and chips is always excellent. Sadly despite offering home deliveries, there can be some weeks where this service isn’t available and no explanation given as to the reason why nor when the issue is likely to be resolved.

Googled 'the best chip shop in inverness' and they gave this a 4.9 score! They weren't wrong but I would say it's a 5* establishment! Food was absolutely beautiful! Haddock supper was to die for. Crispy batter and fresh white haddock. Chips were cooked to perfection. My partner devoured the tattie fritters too. The owner/fryer was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Would definitely drive the 200 miles just for this chip shop again haha

Fish and Chips bestellt. Im Vergleich zu chippies in Dundee und York sind leider die Pommes nicht besonders, weil trocken und im Geschmack fad. Der Fisch war gut und viel Panade. Weil es in Inverness keinen besseren gibt, 4 Sterne.

Any place that has a sign up telling you what boat the haddock came in on is legit. Worth the short drive outside of the tourist zone to get this.

Rude staff. The man at the counter was sitting there quite awkwardly when I told him what I want to order. Pretended to not understand what I was saying and being super ignorant. The food was good.

Service and staff are some of the best you will find in the inverness area. Reasonable prices and quick service what more could you want.

Been there a few times, but this time was well below par. I ordered a haddock supper, but wasn't expecting it to be smoked haddock. I wouldn't have minded, but the batter was disgusting....soggy and swimming in grease. Oh, and the battered mushrooms were inedible. Such as shame as the other times I've been there the food was excellent. Perhaps caught them on an off night.

Le poisson est bon, mais c'est trop gras pour le battered. Les frites ne sont vraiment pas cuites par contre. La tarte au macaroni n'est pas très bonne non plus. Le point positif c'est qu'on peut commander en ligne, aller chercher et c'est très vite prêt.

Delicious fish and chips. Had them with salt and vinegar. Take out only, it would seem, as there was nowhere to sit and eat when we went on a Sunday around 4:30pm.

We go here for a treat, and they never disappoint. The services are quick, and at peek times, you may have to wait, but you know they're worth it. Battered smoke sausage supper for me and a sausage supper for my wife. The walk home would normally make our suppers soggy but not a Mcleods, still having the crunch of the batter and chips that never fail to make me do a happy dance when I'm eating food that hits the spot. Thank you to all the staff for a job that is done well 👏 👍 😀

Amazing fish supper, crispy batter, thick fish and great plentiful chips. But, the most important thing; GRAVY - not only was it on the menu, but it was a good gravy too. Very impressed, will definitely return for our next trip to Inverness. Probably the best fish and chips I've had in Scotland to date and definitely better than the famous one in the East Neuk.

Definitely the best Fish and chip shop I have found in Inverness and we have tried quite a few as we pass through Inverness.

Over rated. Its fresh but nobody really gives a hoot what boat landed your fish and what variety the tatties are when the food is bland.

What can be said that hasn't been said already. The best and freshest fish by a mile, the batter is outstanding and the chips are excellent. All locally sourced produce with catch times and boat ref on the chalk board. Kind, attentive service, highly skilled fryers, top fella on service, good young uns in support and the best captain in charge on the orders and till, nothing passes him. Owner operated is always a sign of customer care. Expect a queue but fish is cooked in fresh oil and in batches, this ensures quality eating at the marginal cost of having a friendly chat with another customer. Patient pause and furious action is how I can best describe it. Cannot be faulted in my opinion. Never, ever change, you are by far the best there is. Order #64.
