Molloys Fish and Chips in Down

After a day out it was great to be able to phone in an order to be collected. The cod and cod strips were amazing. The chips portions were big. I’ve ordered from here before as they can do gluten-free which we get for a friend. Very friendly staff.

Heard great things about this chippy all the way from Belfast, must say lived up to expectations. Southern fried chicken wrap and a chicken fillet burger, great taste an value for money,friendly staff are friendly too

Travelled from Belfast on recommendation from a friend. Was not disappointed. Southern Fried Chicken Burger was superb. Fresh,juicy and great tasting flavour. The chips were also beautiful. Well worth the journey. Will definitely be back. Thanks!

Order every Monday at 1:00 with a few of the colleagues, food is top notch. Gudjons salted and seasoned to absaloute perfection, without meantioning the fresh chips. Curry sauce is an excellent condiment with any dish, takes your taste buds to India. The wee lassie at the till isn’t too bad on the eye either. Excellent customer service! Would highly recommend to anyone looking a proper old school munch. 5 stars from me!

Ordered food took an hour and a half to arrive not very warm when it arrived. Large popcorn chicken had about 6 pieces of chicken. Also a fish Could have went to Ardglass and caught a fish brought it home and cooked it in that length of time. Also tub of gravy short.

The sit-in area has been really nicely done up and has a lovely bright, clean, "seaside" theme and is very quiet and comfortable despite the close proximity to the takeaway waiting area. Highly recommend sitting in.Absolutely delicious food, fresh and piping hot. We have had both takeaways and sit-in meals here and it has always been excellent. The staff are really lovely, attentive and good banter.

Had pastie and chips, the food was excellent and all freshly cooked especially the chips which were made from real spuds none of that reformed powdered variety. Will definitely be back this place is a gem. Keep up the good work guys.

Ordered a large chip and a drink at 5.15. Waited for it until 6.50 and it was cold with barely any chips. Won’t be back , terrible customer service!!

We’ve been here a couple of times now to collect fish and chips on route to visit a friend who is gluten intolerant. This shop can provide this service.I can also recommend their home made fish cakes. Staff are lovely and really helpful.

Really good stuff. I think it would have been improved by eating in, rather than having takeaway- but it was still good food. 4 portions cost £28 - two fish suppers, one chicken goujons with chips, and an other southern style chicken goujons with chips. An extra gravy and mushy peas. The regular chicken was lovely - not so much with the spiced version. It was a bit miserable looking, and needed a sauce rather than gravy . The fish was good, and I think eaten directly after cooking would have been excellent. The 15 minutes delay in a delivery box let the batter go soft.A really good takeaway overall. Will eat in next time.

I am a very fussy eater and don't eat a lot of fish - until now! If you want freshly cooked fish this is the place to go! Everything about the place is immaculate, and whilst you may have to wait a few minutes for your food - it's well worth it!

Me and my family have been eating from molloys regularly since they opened! We always phone in an order and it's always ready for us! High quality food, batter is delicious, staff are friendly. They have family meals which are fantastic value. Worth a visit

This is an awesome little Fish and Chip sit in or takeaway. They cater for gluten intolerant dietary needs. Staff are amazing, food is absolute quality and the service is second to none. Close to local amenities and historical sites.

This is a typical chippy - of a really high standard. Food is made to order, but you never have to wait too long. The menu has all the breadth you'd expect of a good chippy. There's a seating area, although I've never used it, and a good delivery service.

Very simple, I had an appointment in Downpatrick and took my wife and two friends as a little day out, we usually end such a trip with a fish supper, I checked trip advisor and the reviews for Malloy's were perfect, so that's where we went, the fish and chips were among the best we've had and the very pleasant and very attentive staff made our short visit to this really pleasant traditional 'chippie' a pleasure that we will aim to repeat.

Excellent gluten free fish and chips! Rest of family love all of the other food on offer especially the super chips. service is always great!

I had the steak ciabatta with all the trimmings gosh it was lovely. My family all now go to Molloys it's just down the road from us so very handy buy and try you'll love it

We were just passing through the town and just felt a bit peckish,and were delighted to find a nice chippy with freshly cooked tasty fish and chips

All food I have never tried from molloys has been nice had friends down from Belfast a few months ago and they still go on about how nice the food was such nice food and a friendly service :)

We have recently discovered Molloy's and eaten there several times, after work, on the way to visit someone in the Downe Hospital. Every member of staff has been very friendly and helpful. Service is speedy and the food is piping hot. Everything I have chosen so far has been lovely, with a particular mention for the cod and chips! As well as the standard chip shop items, there is also a pizza menu and a good choice of wraps, baguettes and paninis. Everything is very clean, including the toilet. There is a steady flow of customers for the takeaway which is always a good sign. We will be back!

Wouldn't go anywhere else now. Molloys do the best fish and chips in the town.Lovely family run business :)

The fish is fantastic, you can tell Molloys care about their food because the quality of the fish combined with the batter made it just perfect.

Recently called in to try after hearing all the hype, and left highly impressed!! I'll definitely return again and recommend to family and friends. Fish was excellent, as were the chips 👍

I've become a regular at Molloys. With there delicious burgers it's hard to pass it by. Sometimes you can have to wait 20 minutes but this can be expected from most busy chip shops.

Fish to die for, beautifully battered fish with no grease, fish lovely and chunky. Chips non greasy too.staff very very pleasant and efficient. Great service and a fish and chip shop not to missed. Only opened recently .

We have bought our Friday night carry out every week in Molloy's since they opened in Downpatrick. Their fish and chips are really very tasty and the portions are generous. Also try their onion rings - lovely batter!
