Ranis Indian Dining in Breckland

We came for an early dinner on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was already busy which indicates its popularity. You will definitely need to book for a weekend visit. The service was very good, attentive but not overly so. The dishes we chose were excellent. Definitely one of the best Indian meals we've had in quite a while.

We've eaten Rani's food many times for many years, both eat-in and takeaway, and we've always been very happy with the taste and quality, apart from this time. Unfortunately, our takeaway this time was, well, bland. We ordered a Pasanda and Rogon Josh so weren't expecting blow-your-head-off heat, but aside from a bit of shallow spice, there was very little in the way of flavour, and not the usual rich, deep flavours we've come to expect. It's not the cheapest place to eat, but has always been good value for money and we love it as a treat, but it didn't feel like a treat this time. I really hope this was just a blip as it'd be a shame to lose such a great restaurant. We'll give them another try, but not for a while.

We were camping near Shipdham and decided on an Indian meal. Rani's was the nearest and what a great choice! The food was tasty and well cooked and the service was friendly and efficient. They have a large carpark and the restaurant is roomy. We went on a Friday and booked online which was very easy and glad we did as it got quite busy. Definitely recommended.

After searching indian restaurants near the hotel I was at, Ranis was well rated and close. Was surprised how busy the restaurant was for a Monday night. Ordered my usual, chicken madras and keema rice. The curry was very tasty with just enough heat. Great service in a relaxed environment. Will return.

Was so looking forward to this, had tried previously some time ago and was disappointed but decided to give it another go having seen the recent good reviews. Various items ordered and regrettably not one of them in our view was good. Only one of the items was eaten the rest were thrown. Whilst they offered to re-deliver it would have only been more of the same. Won’t be trying for a third time.

Reet tasty. Good quality of food and an excellent level of service as always. Ask for the lamb tikka arcash (not on the normal menu) it’s a bit of a signature dish for Ranis and is quite frankly, amazing, I have it most times I go and it’s always been top notch.

Ordered a take away whilst in staying in the area. The food was quick and of a good quality but the medium curries lacked any heat at all and were very mild. I would recommend ordering hotter curries if you like spice.

This trip was to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. We really couldn’t have picked anywhere better!! The atmosphere is the best - chilled, calm and comfortable! Even as the evening got busier, the service stayed at the same high level - really first class. Amazing!! When it came to the food - WOW!! We both decided to try something new. My wife had the Royal Byriani (Amazing she said!) and I had the Chicken Tawrash. Having eaten more than my share of Indian food over the last 55 of my 65 years, I can honestly say it was the BEST Indian meal I have EVER tasted!! The flavours are incredible. Even now, almost a week later, I can’t believe it could have been THAT good - but it DEFINITELY was!! Treat yourself - GO TO RANI’S!! NOW!!

Food was fine, not amazing but fine. It would have been elevated to good if the vegetables in the vegan bhuna had been cooked. The explanation that they were cooked without a sauce doesn’t really explain things. Unfortunately the meal was overshadowed by the cost of a lime and soda @ £3.25 what a rip off.

Fantastic food and warm welcoming staff, Ranis has a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a family dinner or special occasion. Staff were very polite and attentive. We had a very pleasant evening and would recommend Ranis Indian restaurant. Ranis also deserves a special mention as they provided free meals during the pandemic to ‘Thank the NHS staff for their hard work’, it was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated after a long shift. I am so delighted that Ranis now deliver to my village. There food is fresh and full of depth. I cannot praise their food enough! The only downside is that mow I know I can get it delivered I may spend a few and gain a few extra pounds!

Went for dinner with my wife and we were seated a a back dining room. The phrase out of site out of mind is apt. We waited an age for food, we has papadoms and had to ask for plates we waited an age for main courses which were not hot. We couldn’t start because we had no cutlery. The waitress spent all evening apologising. Possible took their eye off the ball due to the high volume of takeaways being served.We were a captive audience so we could wait. I know I have the option and in future will go elsewhere can’t keep wasting £60

I can’t recommend Rani’s enough. This was our second takeaway during lockdown, and it was outstanding. We had eaten in the restaurant prior to lockdown and this was brilliant.On both occasions we ordered our food on their website, easy to use and intuitive. Once the order was placed they called to confirm the order.We had our food delivered – great value £2 for a 14 mile round trip.On both evenings we received a call apologising that the delivery would be a few moments late – never before have we had a call from anyone apologising that the delivery would be late – normally they just arrive late.The food was hot, and incredibly tasty and good sized portions.Can’t wait to be back in Norfolk to have another curry.

As a regular user of this establishment I have never been disappointed , however i otrdered a takeaway for delivery on 20/11/20 and as usual arrived bang on time. Unfortunately one of the meals , the tandorri king prawns was well below standard for the price charged at £12.95 I would have expected more than 6 prawns. Not good value for money in my opinion , all the other dishes were good but have had much better from them in the past. Don't know what happened , perhaps getting a bit complacent. Will give it another go and see what happens. Would be a shame if they let standards slip as it's such a nice place with nice people.

Very happy with all here in light of current guidelines, tables well spaced out and all staff wore masks. Service was brisk but we were not made to feel hurried. Food on both of our visits was superb and advice on heat of certain dishes welcome. All in all, good value for money.

28/8 our first meal out since lockdown ended - we felt very safe, all staff wearing masks. Excellent service, delicious food and very well organised Covid precautions made for a truly enjoyable evening out. Well done them!

On holiday got recommended this restaurant I’ve never had anything so disgusting the curry’s were watery no taste the rice was hard in places and onion barges where not worth the money . Also the food was Luke warm don’t go here. Avoid !!!

I was a little anxious about going out to eat (due to COVID 19) but my husband persuaded us to go out for a family meal at Rani's. The food and service were exceptional (as always) and the restaurant felt safe and spacious. We went on Monday evening and so took advantage of the 'Eat out to help out' scheme - which made it great value too!

We enjoyed a most excellent meal at Ranis. The staff are polite, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. The best onion bhajis we've ever had, juicy and crispy at the same time. The curry's were so tasty. Thoroughly recommend this place. All socially distanced, staff all wearing face coverings, no issues. Lots of people turning up for takeaways as well.

A night out organised with friends who had come down to Norfolk for a long weekend. You know you’ve made a good choice when you ask friends for recommendations and they all come up with the same restaurant. The dreaded Covid word has to be mentioned and the restaurant didn’t disappoint. Plenty of space between the tables and clear signs giving guidance on where to go to enter the restaurant. We didn’t go on one of the Gov discounted meal days and found the staff very attentive and happy to wait to take our order until we were ready. The food like the service was excellent and would have no hesitation in returning for another visit.

We had a delicious vegetarian feast at Rani’s last night. The simple things (like Naan bread) were great. And the subtle things were marvellous. Service was fast and friendly. There was no musak! And the Covid precautions were precise but unobtrusive.

Ranis has been our Indian restaurant of choice for the past year. So we did our bit for eat out to help out’. Staff were fantastic as usual as were the new waiters. Food was excellent and £20 off the bill - what’s not to like?

Our 3rd visit to Rani's and it wont be the last. We drive over an hour, there and back, to come here it's that good!! I've had different dishes each visit and they are all absolutely spot on. The flavours and sublime and the meat is tender and tasty. Your naan breads are so soft and fluffy too. What I really love about this is how nothing seems to float in grease and oil. For example, I've ordered bhajis in places before and they're greasy and sickly, as can saag aloo as another example. At Ranis though, these dishes are quite the opposite. The chefs know what they're doing and you never have that greasy leftover taste in your mouth. It's all about the ingredients and the flavours. If I lived nearer, I'd probably visit once per week!!

My husband and myself were staying at the Yaxham Mill which is a 1 minute walk away from this brilliant restaurant - the service and food was superb, the staff were very attentive and the whole experience was 1st class - well done to the chefs, waiters, bar staff you did yourselves proud. We ate there 2 nights running and nothing was too much trouble - the food was piping hot and served quite quickly considering they were also doing takeaways!! It can't be easy with all the covid restrictions in place but the staff were very attentive and in good spirits. The food was as good as always. This is the place to go in the Dereham area if you want good Indian cuisine.
