Rummers Wine Bar in Ceredigion

Love the atmosphere and how welcoming the host is! Came with the university's Fencing Club multiple times for the quiz night and it's always a staple of our socials, we love Rummers!

My friend and I will always love this place - it is our number one spot. Great music, great atmosphere, great drinks and great staff - especially Marcus who was very kind and generous :)

Trip down memory lane with two very tired children in tow to Mummy’s university town. Dropped into Rummers, having told them how much I used to enjoy the place back in the day before google reviews. It was very quiet on a chilly wet afternoon, but as beautiful as it ever was, with the perfect combination of traditional and quirky. The staff on duty today could not have been kinder. Lovely drinks and delicious food, and the boys were offered crayons and paper, and were even allowed to play with their new toys in the sawdust on the floor. It’s over twenty years since my uni days, and Rummers is still one of the best bars ever. Thank you for the perfect refuge from a blustery day.

Dear me. It takes a lot to write a bad review, and I've never written a one-star during my time on TA - sorry to say that's now changed. A big group of us, all adults, came to Rummers for a pre-booked meal tonight at around 8.45pm. Not only did we have to queue and re-order our food, but there was a long wait for only a handful of meals to show up. No tables were booked for seats either, so most of us had to wait outside (thankfully, it was a dry evening if a bit cold), but from the size of the place there isn't really room for bookings to begin with. We were eventually seated, but three friends had cancelled their orders and left by then, having become fed up. Following on from that, a member of our own party then had to go between the rest of us and the staff (like a makeshift waiter) to try and sort things out more quickly! Those who did have food served to them weren't best impressed, and at least one of the members asked for feedback to be sent to the kitchens. They then spoke to the manager who admitted they don't usually deal with group bookings. Both the lady with the blonde hair and the young chap working the bar (both looked in their twenties) were very polite and apologetic. They tried their best given they had no idea what was going on. Past 10pm, I couldn't wait any longer, given I had a long walk back ahead of me in the dark. I asked at the bar for a refund, and thankfully this was granted. I left hungry and disappointed, but I grabbed some fast food from elsewhere and called it a night. Rummers might be OK if you're just off out for a casual drink and you fancy a laugh with the open mic - and I'm willing to give benefit of the doubt and give this feedback to our group organiser, too. But, that being said, after tonight I wouldn't recommend it to visiting friends nor am I likely to return.

I travelled a long way to see my friend play in a band but they were treated terribly and told the gig was cancelled without payment after also travelling 100 miles. What a wasted trip! Absolutely disgusting behaviour by the manager. He shouldn't be working in hospitality with that attitude!

A very cosy and atmospheric pub with friendly and helpful staff. The interior design is excellent and adds to the historic feel of the building. The selection of drinks is not huge but it has everything one would want and more. Weekly promotions on drinks are also common. Very nice atmosphere for a more chill place to drink than some of the larger pubs near the town centre. Perhaps a little low on seats on busier nights so worth turning up a little earlier than usual to grab a seat.

Just the one night visit in Aberystwyth, Friday at the "rummers" was a lovely gem that we stumbled upon, there was almost 3hrs of live entertainment from the " smoking guns " creating a great atmosphere. Don't be fooled by the "wine bar" it serves a good range of ales and has a varied stock of cans from the "Tiny rebel" brewery, and as for the wine they have a selection of Welsh vineyard houses for you to choose.

A very warm welcome awaits you here, the bar staff are excellent and the beers and lager are all made in Wales, I highly recommend the mantel dark heart ale it's heaven in a glass. Whilst I was there there was a band called tong and groove who were absolutely amazing and brilliant. Do not miss a chance to visit this pub its perfect.

Good place. Little pricey but nice local Welsh cider. I recommend.

Attended as part of a stag do. We laughed loudly and as a result of this were asked to leave. Upon leaving were called the C word very loudly by the owner. A real shame as the bar staff were pleasant and we were well mannered despite being in high spirits. Regarding the below response from the owner, our friend left the pub and threw up on the street outside. This was unfortunate and as the younger brother of the stag his lack of experience perhaps left something to be desired. However, we ensured he was off the property due to feeling unwell. It is unfortunate that the owner has lied on this occasion and was perhaps angry that only 10 people turned up to the Q &A. Being called the C word is never justified. Second edit. The owners have clearly managed to find my profile on linkedin. I made no such comments and never would.

We called in for a drink when walking by late on a Wednesday evening and there was a live group on. We sat outside with our dog and the landlord Marcus quickly brought water and biscuits and even turned on the heater for us. Excellent service , great prices. Well worth a visit

Rummers what can I say........what happened to the old rummers when the pubs closed and you could go and have a drink with live music before going home . Well the drinks on draft are names you have never heard off.....baywater lager!!!! Last orders are 25 mins past 12 and believe me the security will take the drink from your hand dead on 1 o,clock.. sorry, but no atmosphere any more. Seems to me it's all on the cheap......for profit, not customers..... disappointed.

Not a wine bar anymore. Staff were blunt and dismissive, can't claim it's a wine bar anymore there are no choices just drinks from the "local area". Disappointing after being a student from 2012-2015

Rummers has been a favourite of mine for over 30 years. Still a great atmosphere, live music, jolly staff, good range of beers and great pizzas. As everywhere else changes and is refurbished/renovated or closed Rummers is a constant - always a guaranteed excellent night

Abusive rude landlord!! My partner, sister in law, brother in law and myself are currently staying in Aberystwyth for a short weekend break, we didn’t know that Rummers Bar was closed and when we approached the garden, the landlord told us they were closed. We thought he was joking given he was sat socialising outside and enquired again….. he turned abusive and told us to ‘go back to where you come from and your sad lives!’ Unless you fancy abuse…. DO NOT VISIT HERE!! Thanks for the welcome!! NOT

Rummers is split into upstairs and the basement. Upstairs is a rather smart eatery with subtle and stylish decor. The basement is a smugglers in with a sound system both ate great places to sit and await the arrival of the main act: the food. I can say with all seriousness that Rummers serves up some of the best vegan group that it has ever been my pleasure to consume. Utterly delicious. Add to this staff who really go above and beyond the call of duty and you can see why this is one of th best places to spend an evening if you are in Aberystwyth.

It takes a lot for me to write a bad review but feel my experience should be shared so that the assistant manager will be made aware of how rude he was. The overall evening was fine despite not the best environment but what happened at the end ruined the whole thing. Last weekend we chose storehouse on a very rare date night , away from a busy life with 3 kids. At first we were welcomed very well the waiting staff were polite and we were enjoying. About 20mins in a groupof 4 young men arrived , I don’t know the full story but it seemed they had tried to book the restaurant to themselves and they were very unhappy that they hadn’t been able to. The waiter was very apologetic and they were offered 10% discount, all of a sudden more and more people joined the group until there was around 20 or so of the group.The waiter was under pressure to please this group. Our starters arrived later and he quickly went back to the group. Not bothering to offer us a new drink as our were empty and not giving us the chance to ask. This was fine though as we could see he was under pressure. The next thing our small table was surrounded by the lads talking loudly over us, my partner at this point wanted to leave but I didn’t think it was fair to since we’d already ordered, instead before our mains came out we asked to move to a corner at the back of the restaurant so that we were out the way. When we got to the new table the only other couple in the restaurant were in the middle of complaining about how long it has taken for their food to arrive. Ours had taken a while too but it wasn’t worth complaining about. The assistant manager was apologizing and offering all sorts of discounts. We then had our mains we were quite happy still even though we felt as though we were intruding on the big group’s get together that took over most of the seating in the place and also sat next to a couple who next started swearing loudly about how long their pudding was taking. The assistant manager then had to come out and taste the lady’ pudding it seemed she wasn’t happy about that either. Seemed they were getting more compensation for that too. We finished our main and were just finishing our drinks when the couple got up to go and pay so we thought we would leave them go first we would go after. As they left the waitress walked over to us and asked us to finish our drinks and leave. I don’t blame the waitress she had obviously been asked to do that by the assistant manager. Obviously so they could close the restaurant to the group. I’ve never been asked to leave anywhere before and was absolutely disgusted. We had already had a less than ideal evening but we made the most of it. It shows that if you are complainers you will get treated better than if you sit there not giving staff a hard time. The waitress and waiter apologized to my partner as he paid and my partner said he didn’t realise he would be intruding and they replied ‘neither did we’. I will never return nor recommend the place. The food was nice and well cooked , the waiting staff were polite but the assistant manager was just plain rude to the only people there that hadnt complained that evening.

Had a lovely time at The Storehouse for our society’s Christmas meal, the food was very good and we all had a great night. One criticism would have to be the price for what was received, especially for the starters. All in all though a great place to go in aber for food!

Well what can I say other than we as a whole really couldn't fault our evening at The Storehouse, the service was spot on (Jaz) 🙂🙂 was our host for the evening and this lady couldn't do enough from the moment the very first drink was poured right up to paying our bill, Jaz, thank you.. The food was very good indeed and presented beautifully, all our orders were fulfilled to the letter. Starters, mains, deserts all very very nice, coffee after with a cheeky mince pie or two finished us off very nicely even the big guys in the bunch myself included so once again I can't recommend this place enough... THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏

We came here with our society for a Christmas meal and all the food was so lovely they catered to all eaters, meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans which was brilliant and the hospitality was perfection, looking forward to coming again soon for another fabulous meal.

Went on a works xmas party Had three course dinner Prawn coctail to much pepper Turkey dinner was so dry must have been left on a hot plate Xmas pudding was ok When we complained response was i will tell the chef Wont be visting again

We ordered vegan burgers. The bubble and squeak burger contained neither bubble nor squeak. It was overcooked in a cold bun and was spicy but not flavoursome. We waited 45 minutes for our main course and an hour for our puddings. I don't know why as we were the first people in. I wouldn't have minded waiting for good food. The staff were nice. I think they were a bit embarrassed. We were very disappointed as the menu had looked promising. We won't be going back.

We were a bit disappointed after all these good reviews. The food was not what we expected for the price- it was ok. The drinks were good, but the service was horrible. We waited 30 minutes to get the menu after ordering drinks and another 50 minutes until the food arrived. We didn’t have any napkins or ketchup/ mayo but also couldn’t ask for it as the waitress didn’t come around. Unfortunately we also didn’t have the chance to order more drinks. Addition after response of owner: Your ability to remember things must be brilliant. We stayed in your restaurant nearly 1,5 years ago. We hadn’t been rude to the staff in any form or wanted to served before the others. Lying when replying to reviews might not be the best way of dealing with criticism.

I visited here with my family for dinner and live music. We were not disappointed! The staff are genuinely super lovely, helpful and polite. And the food is awesome! It is great to see lots of vegan options on the whole menu and the food is cooked fresh. I had the vegan double trouble burger and it was epic! Best vegan burger ever! And really reasonably priced. Great place so go visit!!

One of the best pubs in Aberystwyth. Super friendly staff and welcome atmosphere. Proper, cosy pub to have a lovely drink in. They offer a wide selection of drinks from largers to spirits, and very cheap rum on Wednesdays. Highly recommended place to go if visiting Aberystwyth, or if you're a student.

No.1 place for a burger in aberystwyth also very good for people with intolerence or alergies to certain food.

A great pub! Lovely chap behind the bar who clearly has a passion for what he does. Really liked the nautical decor. The menu has loads of vegan options but also ethically sourced meat. Vegan rumburger was excellent and the chips were nice too, very good value for money. Highly recommended!

I had been looking forward to eating here after reading about their extensive vegan burger options. Couldn't get through on the phone to book so just turned up...it only opens at 7pm. Rustic decor and good prices and a friendly barman. Sadly, the food was disappointing. The meat eater in the group had a double trouble burger which he said was nothing special. I had a bubble n squeak burger which I felt was more like a Tesco beetroot burger. Lastly, the vegan chicken burger got the thumbs up.. Sadly, all our chips were only just warm which is a shame because they had skins on and could have been lovely.

Lovely place. Probably my favourite pub in Aberystwyth. Good selection and friendly staff. Wonderful building and there's now a restaurant that is supposedly quite good. Not the cheapest pub in Aber, however.

Oooh, just had the vegan burger and have to say, it's actually one of the best I've ever had. Not a shop bought, lazy option, this is made from scratch and so delicious. Well done chef.

Met up with 4 school friends, lovely comfy seats while having our drinks. Managed to squeeze us in for a meal as had table of 20 but in the end that table didn't turn up. Beautiful meal cooked yo perfection and the young man who served us was very good checking we were good throughout night and also was our photographer!! Lovely area by the harbour beautiful surroundings and very classy and colourful inside
