Good food and excellent service

Really cozy, welcoming pub, there is a proper dining room however we did not see this. Took a chance and popped in after a long day's work and walking and wasn't disappointed. The staff were very welcoming and gave us a comfy table in the bar. They provided a really good gluten free menu with lots of good options available. We had the chicken curry with rice and chips and a side of veg. It's good old fashioned hearty pub grub and hit the spot perfectly, exactly what we needed. As well as the GF menu they had a selection of GF beers available, even a GF beer on tap! Will be returning for sure!

Proper pub food, friendly staff, decent price. Coal fire on a cold day and plenty parking if you need it.

Friday lunch here can only be described as amazing. Fabulous menu choice with a specials selection too. Nice staff, pleasant atmosphere and surprisingly busy. Food was faultless. Leek & tattie soup was excellent and the haddock Mornay and mince, tatties & skitlie were hot and very tasty! A proper Aberdeenshire feed in a proper Aberdeenshire venue. Well done to all. 👏

We had a party if 25 people for my daughter's 18th birthday meal. Can't fault the food the waiters were very good. We will definitely be back soon.

Such a lovely experience! They accomodated a family dinner party of 5, on short notice, on the last day of 2023. The place was festive, warm, cosy and welcoming. The food was delicious, staff service was as good as it gets. The desserts were heavenly. We would definitely revisit on our next trip to Scotland. Thanks to the entire team and Happy New Year! Special thanks for giving the kids extra naan bread. 😍

This is the end of our journey with Scott skinners and me and my family have supported them for years but it all ends now and will look else where for family meals. The Host the lady with the blond hair has a shocking attitude and despite supporting this business for years she shows zero loyalty to customers with no apologies for mistakes or cold food so it’s over. She needs to learn customer relations techniques and show empathy and manners but she possesses none of these qualities. Sad but it’s time to look else where. She knows her self that she is not cut out to deal with the public

Great service, company and food. Local and guest beers available. Food is good. The place is always busy and that speaks for itself.

My husband and I were looking forward to our meal here.I t was recommended by hotel where we were staying.Over all we enjoyed what we had although I had a couple of issues.When they were brought to the attention of the owner(women with blonde hair).She did not handle it very professionally at all.In the end she did apply a discount to the bill.In hindsight I don't think we would return purely because of this.I must add the waitresses were lovely.We could not fault them.

Have been here several times before. Five of us went for lunch last Sunday. 2 of us had the roast beef, with all the usual accompaniments. It was delicious some of the best beef I have tried. My wife had the Haddock Mornay which she said was excellent. In all a good experience, staff attentive and efficient see you again very soon.Thank you.

Out for an evening meal with our friend from Denmark. An excellent meal, hot & tasty , served by staff who were efficient and polite!

Visited here whilst on a short visit to Banchory. We had a look around in the afternoon and decided to eat there in the evening. I'm glad we called to book for a table as it was reasonably busy with very few empty tables. The restaurant is to the back of the building through the nice looking bar. We were quickly shown to our table and orders taken. They had a guest ale on which was very nice. Black Sheep Breweries "Proper Job". I had the black pudding fritters to start followed by the chicken curry. My wife had the macaroni followed by banoffee tart. Good portions, well cooked and tasty. Good solid pub food. All staff very friendly.

We were there with 11 men, wanted to visit a Scottish pub and drink beer and especially whiskey after dinner. Food was excellent, 6 had haggis as a starter and found it extremely tasty. A successful evening, thank you.

We had a lovely meal, choice amazing, reasonably priced, value for money and portions wow. Would certainly recommend this place to eat our waitress was attentive,helpful and friendly. We struggled to fault this meal. Certainly be back.

Great menu, relaxing atmosphere, great beer garden... Whats not to like 😎 always stop off when in the area

Food was decent but service was desperately slow, even though it was the weekend and the place was far from busy (maybe 30% capacity). Staff were nice enough... Helpful but without the joy on their face and spring in their step you'd like to experience at any eatery worth their salt. Even coffee's took 15min to prepare... It was ok, but not the experience I had hoped for.

A lovely place to meet for a meal. The food was stunning and I could have spent hours looking at the various paintings they have on the walls. Staff were absolutely brilliant too.

Typically Scottish and excellent cuisine. Very pleasant service, possibility of having a drink on the terrace. We will return.

Family meal. All mains were tasty and big portions. Desserts were great as well. Friendly and attentive young staff. Place was full on a Tuesday night.

For our last day in Scotland we decided to go for a Sunday roast ,we looked at reviews of eateries in banchory and went to Scott Skinner's restaurant , a lovely setting and a big choice of menu , I decided not to have the roast because haggis was on the menu, there was 4 haggis bon bons with Drambuie sauce with chips and vegetables ,it was lovely, the rest of my family had roast beef, it was a large roast with plenty of beef and vegetables and Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes, the meal was delicious and would recommend this restaurant

Our review certainly differs from previous reviews, may be because place filled up soon after we arrived! Staff were pleasant, but not overly friendly. Chicken curry was basically chicken in a sauce…..certainly not tasting like a curry should; the chicken in the Chicken Maryland was over cooked, and together with the chips, banana and pineapple it was all fried, accompanying salad was limp and overly tasted of onions (presumably made up and left). Previous reviews says dog friendly but there is a notice on the door stating no dogs allowed. Often in the area but won’t be hurrying back.

Came here after Dunnotter Castle. Glad we did! Food was delicious and the dessert was even better! Some of the best toffee pudding I've had. The bartender was great too!

Stopped here for lunch while driving from Dunnottar Castle to Balmoral Castle, and glad we picked it. The main courses were good (especially the steak pie), the service was excellent, and the desserts were spot on! Would recommend for for lunch.

The food was very tasty and the price-performance ratio was also good. At times it took the staff a little longer to take orders, but everything was ok.

The pub is in a lovely area of the Royal Deeside. We came for a Sunday pub lunch. The customer service: they were pleasant but slow. Food was not piping hot. It was warm. The pub itself looks good and clean. Good selection of drinks. Dogs 🐶 are accepted at their tables outside but not in the pub. The menu is varied and prices average

My wife and I was treated to Lunch today, our first visit. The food was truly scrumptious the beef steak pie and the fish n chips was mouth Watering, as we're the desserts. The service was 1st Class and we can't wait to return. A great Menu with such a choice and very reasonably priced.

Roast beef with all the trimmings. Very good. Staff attentive but not over powering. Will certainly be returning.

We visited this restaurant a few years ago just after covid restrictions and enjoyed some first class food. Returned this week and the quality is just as high. Very impressed with the hard working, professional and very friendly staff. A special mention for Mike who was a first class barman and host. Will definitely recommend.

Great pub but unfortunately Barman ripped me off giving me a paper £5 Scottish note in change which I didn't know was not valid currency until I visited the Stag and the barman there told me it was not valid,well done Mike barman .

Still good food and good ales. Sometimes the ale is a bif iffy but most of the time its good. Good to sit out in the sun. Decent staff.

Had lunch today table 6 at 12.30 was welcomed by a lovely waitress very attentive and nothing was too much trouble food was excellent and the restaurant was extremely clean well done to all keep up the good work we will be back👍👍👍

We’ve been here 2 or 3 times recently, as it was recommended by our friends. The choice of menu is great plus specials. I can recommend the Steak Pie, loads of delicious tender meat under perfect pastry. The fish and chips is great too! Give Scott Skinners a try, you won’t be disappointed!

My daughter, 10 week old granddaughter visited the Skinners for lunch through the week and found it to he excellent service and delicious food! Due to gluten and egg intolerances, I found their menu very good for choice! We both had fish, chips and peas, wish was delicious and a very sizable portion too! Highly recommended!

My sister and I had a lovely meal here recently. Excellent menu, and clear what is gluten free. Discussed options and how cross contamination dealt with. Staff helpful with good knowledge regarding someone with Coeliac disease. Excellent service.

Fantastic experience at this restaurant There is such a large variety of options available. Our table for 4 plus baby all loved our meals. The service is fantastic, couldn’t fault any of it. Will definitely be returning very soon

Staff are fantastic, very welcoming and go out of their way to make your dining experience a real pleasure. Food was delish and great value for money. Been twice recently and couldn't finish my meal both times as was too much. Preferred sitting in bar area, though the dining area was nice and quiet. Will defo return in future.

Had a lovely meal here this evening, Lyne was so helpful and accomodating A very tasty gluten free/vegan pasta dish for my main followed by a lovely chocolate tart for pudding, again gluten free and vegan ☺️ highly recommend

Friendly staff, great selection of drinks inc. guest ales. Food is hearty and with local flavours. Great value and make sure you get a seat near the log fire if you can during these winter nights. Good car park which is handy for the designated driver.

First time in many years...what a wonderful menu! Where can you get Ox Liver and Onions on the menu...it was amazing! Will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

Wonderful extensive menu and the staff were so attentive. It was great that they did half portions too as my mother is elderly and likes to have have desert after her entree so it was Wonderful.

Absolutely loved it here! Food is very good, and reasonably priced, lamb is a very good choice and it's portion size is plenty! The waiter was a bit slow, but luckily the mood was good, so it wasn't a huge bother. 10/10 would visit again
