Every meal we enjoyed was delicious! From breakfast to lunch to dinner we were delighted with beautifully prepared and presented; yummy meals. It’s the top 10 restaurants I have visited around the world. Definitely 5 star in my book

Lovely service. Nice comfortable atmosphere. Kids food was good quality. Catch of the Day came out looking a little slim and I cast a jealous eye on my partner's generous looking pork belly, but the fish dish was lovely and well put together.

What a fabulous meal we just had! We booked late, had a delicious meal and staff were so friendly and helpful - especially that lovely tall guy who greeted us when we arrived. Full marks to the chef as well - every course was delightful in taste and presentation - well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

The scotch egg starter was nice but small and it just came out in the middle of a bare plate, no real garnish. To be honest, for the cost - £8.50 - this scotch egg really could have been doing with being a bit bigger or maybe even two eggs. Wasn’t worth the price. My main - fish and chips - cost £18 so needs to be very special right? The chips were just okay. The fish was served as two pieces. I only like breaded or battered fish with no bones and no skin which is why I went for this. The fish was underdone, I mean rare. The batter was okay but I as hate skin on fish, and this fish had its skin on with the batter attached to it (why?) i had to throw away half my batter with the skin. It came on a swirl of cold pea pure which I didn’t like at all. So not great. Again small portions. I left disappointed.

Went to this restaurant for the first time this week before a show in the theatre. The food was just gorgeous and the service excellent. Highly recommend and will be back.

We were staying in a hotel around the corner, so we decided to book into Shipquay Hotel’s restaurant for food. The restaurant itself is a very nice dining room and it was very busy so there was a good atmosphere. The service was friendly, and the food was great. I had the boxty starter and to be honest I was expecting a large traditional style dish, but it was an inventive spin on it. My other half had the soup and had no complaints. For mains I had the seabass. The fish was very well cooked, and the dish as a whole was well presented and tasted lovely. My partner had the pork and was very well pleased. The only complaint was we didn’t have room for desserts! But we did have a couple of cocktails each which were delicious and well presented. All in this was a great restaurant and I’ve already recommended it to friends that are visiting the area soon. Keep up the good work!

We had an excellent two course meal from the extensive pre theatre menu with lots of choice for everyone. The service was impeccable and the restaurant was buzzing with a busy and cosy atmosphere. The food arrived promptly and was faultless. Needless to say we will be recurring customers of the Shipquay restaurant again. Can’t wait to return!

Came here with a group friends. Service wasn’t great , however when with a group we didn’t really notice. The staff are really nice however the younger male waiters could do with a little training. When we asked one if we could order a drink he answered ‘not now I’m a bit busy’ My friend ordered a drink a few times and it never arrived. The burger was tasty, I ordered it as the other mains didn’t come with a side and were quite expensive. The tempura fish starter was not great at all. Not worth the £9 The cloud martini is fun! Nice espresso martinis

We had dinner and breakfast here as we were staying in the hotel. The staff were very helpful and didn't bat and eyelid at my mains dinner order which was a deviation from the menu as I don't eat shellfish. The food was plentiful and very good. We gave a tip with payment and the very honest manageress came after us as she thought we had given her too much money. Would not hesitate to recommend here.

All in all it was average .. firstly we were delighted to be able and check in early at 1.45pm even tho we didn’t mind waiting ..and we got a lovely glass of Prosecco on arrival. When we got to our room we had paid for a superior . It was nice but tiny ..toilet seat was broken and the carpet could have done with a hoover and a deep clean, found it strange no milk even uht in room ..we were on 3rd floor and even tho told at reception we could order milk .. it just seemed to put the staff at more stress .. hence next comments .. we had dinner booked for 8pm so at 5 we headed to the bar …. Blimey the bar man was definitely having a bad day .. his words to my husband when he said are you ok to serve us ‘ im on the grave yard shift mate’ his attitude was shocking .. we sat on tho and because we were on our wee holiday we continued to have a couple of drinks in the bar, he came round eventually but very unprofessional! Dinner was ok… starter .. deep fried seafood fritters were horrendous ..salmon and fish and ok for mains … waitress at breakfast was lovely ..we travel a lot but found this place mediocre ..we wouldn’t stay again and tbh we felt the staff were all knackered!

I really enjoyed my meal with my friends at this restaurant. The service was slow, especially towards the end and they forgot my friend’s veg she asked for. However, the staff were really lovely. We got free soup on the house and we asked for olives and they gave us a lot of olives. The wine, my fish and chips, the soup and my brownie were all lovely.

Great restaurant, great atmosphere, great staff and great food. What more would you want! We felt very welcome and valued and we couldn’t have been happier!

The food here is nice. The only reason I didn’t give a 5 is because I ordered the monkfish and was given the tail end. Not very good. The rest was fine. Husband had cod n chips. He said it was the best ever. Wish I’d ordered that! Starters were good. I had soup, hubby boxty.

Arrived in the ground floor bar. Served two warm beers and the excuse when asked "we were flat out all day" poor. We checked 15 mins before aour booking and seated immediately. Despite being given the menu almost right away the staff refused when asked to take our order. 30 minutes and 15 minutes after our original booking time out order was take. 30 mins later our food (single course) was served. Poor . Booking was 6.30 as we were off to a show for 8pm so keen to get going. 7.13pm almost an hour after we arrived we were presented with our food . Poor . see pics. Almost £40 for surf & turf. 4x chips in the smallest pot I have served beed served. Poor. The surf was £8 add on. Poor. The steak portion was good and cooked to perfection. ✓. Service was awfull . Junior staff were not well enough trained to take food orders and the kitchen was obviously flat out. No for me I'm afraid I expect better service than that.

went there to celebrate our 50th anniversary as well as my wifes birthday the next day. Great food, great staff. THey was especially instrumental in helping me buy a glass of prosecco for each diner there in order to toast my wife. Thank you to the staff for the help. We had sea bass and monkfish both of which were cooked perfectly. My wife doesn't consume alcohol and their bartender made up a nice 'mocktail' for her to enjoy!!! Can't recommen this place enough

We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant last night, it was my dad’s 80th birthday, we were a group of 20 people. The service was exceptional, the food was amazing, I would definitely recommend and definitely go again. Excellent value for money

Make reservations, this is a very busy place to eat. Service was professional, wine list offered a good variety, food was prepared perfect to order and was delicious.

Cracking, food a good price and great service

We found Shipquay Restaurant after discovering many of the pubs did not serve food after 6pm on a Friday night which was surprising. The Shipquay was a pleasant surprise with excellent service, delicious food and a lovely setting. We would definitely return.

I was looking forward to our dinner with friends at the Shipquay Hotel after viewing the menu online. Firstly, it was difficult to park in the busy city centre location...not the fault of Shipquay hotel admittedly but on entering the restaurant, it was reasonably quiet but busy set in a comfortable surrounding. For starters, we had the Shipqay Boxty (Potato pancake) which had a breakfasty twist, pleasant starter and a reasonable portion for starters. Complimentary soup was provided (Onion and thyme) on the night) to those in the party not eating starters, nice touch from the friendly and helpful staff. All in all, started reasonably well and I was looking forward to the main. For mains, our party had the Trio of lamb, fish and chips, Beetroot and red onion tarte tatin and I had the fillt steak (with bump option of surf and turf). The unforgivable problem here was firstly the steak. The steak was ordered medium rare and expecting a nice juicy 8oz steak, I got anything but. The steak was overcooked, arriving medium instead of medium rare, and the steak just felt a little low quality, missing the mark of the pomp and fayre of the Irish Hereford proclamation on the menu. Overcooked steak in a hotel restaurant that presents this type of A La carte menu is unforgiveable in my book, (By the way, the fillet steak was a fairly high price to pay for such disappointment). Also, the surf and turf option is just not worth it for the tiny scallop and tempura fritter. We also had another issue....the beetroot tarte tatin. Tarte tatin, a normally placed upside down tarte, was again far from its seemingly idyllic description. Simply put, it was a piece of cooked pastry laden with large chunks of beetroot and red onion with some salad plonked in the centre. Do not recommend this one at all. Other dishes like the lamb and fish n chips were reported as pretty good by the diners in our party. All in all, the service was good, and restaurant staff were helpful and friendly and probably saved the review from the dreaded 1 star. Shipquay restaurant needs to look at some of these dishes and take greater care, especially around steak preparation, which is restaurant 101 territory. Also, need to look at responsiveness on their Facebook messenger, which doesn't really address diner dissatisfaction.

Upscale, decorated with style. A knowledgeable, friendly staff - every one of them. Our food was terrific, from starters through dessert. Good drinks and a wine selection met everyone's tastes. We loved this place.

Overpriced average food. Starter was not what was described on the menu at all. The 'superfood' salad consisted of lettuce, tasteless tomatoes quarters x 2 and sweet potatoes cubes, none of which were in the menu description, and a little quinoa with what tasted like...

Was recommended to me by a colleague and did not disappoint, starter and mains both fantastic, scallops with black pudding crumble followed by monkfish with Spanish potatoes,chorizo and samphir .. my Lady had a signature cocktail to finish"cinqa de mayo"..Huge Thumbs up from her..Service was first class. Absolutely terrible experience. Actually really annoyed after my visit here. Booked in a week in advance to celebrate a recent promotion with my family. Was left waiting an hour and 10 minutes for food to come to the table. 2 of the fish dishes were absolutely terrible. Very watery however we couldn’t afford to wait another hour for two more dishes to come out. The manager wasn’t very helpful and only offered 2 free sides. I want management to contact me asap as this was simply a terrible experience and we definitely won’t be back.

This restaurant was delightful. All the wait staff were friendly and helpful. We had the BEST fish and chips. Hope to visit here again and try another delightful entree.

Delightful lunch today: catch of the day was Donegal hake with spring greens in a light cream sauce. I was a little surprised that the broad beans weren’t double-podded, but no matter: it was fab and filling.

The soup was only served lukewarm in an espresso cup ⛔️ To be fair, the cold soup in the espresso cup was not charged.

Disappointed compared to a previous stay. Portion sizes reduced, limited choices at breakfast. Had a stuffed pork fillet dish for dinner at £17, there was literally two mouthfuls of pork. I'm not exaggerating. Great Hotel, take the breakfast it's included but eat out for dinner. I heard they were looking a new chef, fingers crossed.

Very disappointed after reading such good reviews, service and staff excellent but lamb roast dinner was poor. The thin slithers of lamb were over cooked and mint potato mash dry. Maybe just a off day for the chef but we won't be rushing back..

Snuck in here without a reservation and so glad we stumbled across it. Food was incredible with excellent vegetarian options. Good unique cocktail menu (I had a peach tea; Jameson's, peach schnapps, black tea which was lovely) and attentive service.

Amazing, one of the most relaxing places I’ve ever had an afternoon lunch. My partner and I had the fresh haddock & chips and Hereford prime beef burger, both 10/10 top quality. The staff were so friendly and the place really has that boutique hotel feel. This restaurant would not be out of place in Dublin or London! The atmosphere was very relaxing with good music for a chilled autumn afternoon. The wine was very good and the service was second to none. We will definitely stay in this hotel on our next trip to derry. Very reasonable prices also. £40 for 2 glasses of red, 2 main courses with sides.

Highly recommend the Shipquay bar, we booked drinks for a party of 20 the night before our wedding, the staff were excellent with a great selection of drinks and cocktails.

After months of not getting out due to covid the first place we wanted to visit was shipquay restaurant and as it was our wedding anniversary the perfect opportunity to do so . From the moment we walked in the the door we couldn't have been more welcomed by Alicia very bright and bubbly and all the members of staff at the the hotel made us feel special . Staff were very welcoming and attentive during our meal could not fault it . We ordered a whisky sour from the bar and have to say it was up there with the best and the bar man surname jefferson sorry didn't get your first name gave us a a wee tip how to make them such a nice guy and so easy to chat too. Made the night more special over all we had an amazing night out and the food was delicious could not fault it. Thank you to all the staff at shipquay hotel you made our night so special xxx

Such a beautiful restaurant with fantastic views, set within the city. The menu is sublime fantastic choice at excellent prices. The staff here are really friendly and attentive, never in your face but always at hand. The crowning glory is the food, lunch high tea or my favourite evening meal. I love this place, & would recommend this beautiful hotel 100%.

We had the lamb shank and it was delicious. The meat just fell off the bone. The staff are very friendly and good humoured. I would definitely recommend it.

The food is of excellent quality, generous portions and excellent dishes. Very friendly and attentive service, a refined and elegant environment, in the city centre. Prices a little above average but consistent with the offer.

Very nice staff. The food is excellent and simply delicious! Good Irish cuisine and a clear menu, all rounded off by a cozy and elegant atmosphere. We had the burger and the lamb, wonderful! Nobody leaves the restaurant hungry here.
