The Old Docks in Derry

Excellent dinner in a superb location. Just down the road from our hotel. Burger was perfect, served with a beautiful peppercorn sauce for the fries. I took the chicken escalope which I could have eaten twice. Took a walk to the peace bridge afterwards. Lovely service.

What a great restaurant and team. Myself and 12 mates went on mothers day. Liam,Seany and the team couldn't have done enough for us even though they where so busy. Credit to the chefs, food was amazing and Paul made sure the mother's of the party felt that extra bit special. Thanks Old Docks and the music made they day too.

The food was good but the staff were not professional as we were eating a few of us had finished and some put there knife and fork down in a way that you would when ever your not fit eating the staff came to the table and went to lift our plates that we were not finished with them a member of the group I was with went to the bar and paid the bill they came and sat back down and the table asked for the bill and a member of staff came to the table with the bill which had already been paid for and the amount on the bill was more than the bill that was paid for at the bar the person that paid the bill at the bar told us that one person started to key in the bill stop half way through the transaction with her and walked away and sent someone else to finish of the transaction the member of staff that had started the customer need should have finished it of I’m sure if they have cctv they can look at it themselves a very unprofessional way to treat a customer so we had 2 bills with different amounts on them she took the 2 bills to a member of staff and told them that she had paid the bill the member of staff was very aggressive towards her she said there was drinks add on to the bill I said no there was not for we have all finished everything thing she took the second bill not even a sorry or nothing we just walked out and we will not be walking back in again at any time soon very unprofessional staff they could be doing with some training on how to wait on a table and on how to treat the customers the way we felt was the quicker the table was free the better so that they could occupy the table again with customers that were waiting, the floor was very sticky as you walked on it and the toilet would need to be checked every 45 minutes to make sure that there clean from the customer I was not impressed at overall service and customer care I won’t be back it just put a damper on our day out for Mother’s Day

Food was super good....portions were unbelievable.....we had to take "doggie bags" home as portion sized were huge.....lovely, friendly & welcoming staff...... Definitely the new place to go......

Drinks service was chaotic and haphazard, a drink was spilled over one of our party, some drinks didn't come at all and we had to ask for them a couple of times, wrong drinks were brought and drinks were brought that weren't ordered by anyone at our table. The food order was taken 40 minutes after arrival and we were pressured to free up the table 2 hours after the booking time to accommodate the next group which was totally unacceptable under the circumstances. Food was lovely but it felt like we were in the middle of a Fawlty Towers episode. This was my third time here and service has been bad every time. I would not recommend The Old Docks to anyone. They need to tighten up their service, staff need to communicate better, the bar needs to be better organised to cope with drinks orders and staff need to be more vigilant and aware of customers' needs.

The Old Docks never fails in their high standards. From entering a staff member greets you, asks if you'd like a drink before showing us to a table were the menu awaits us. All waiting staff polite and cheerful making sure we are ready to order. Food is 5 Star and prices very reasonable. We had 50/50 which is a large portion of chicken fillet and a steak served on mash with french fried onions and tomatoes, all dishes come with a free side order. I'd always recommend this rest fantastic value for money. The staff are all friendly and make the meal enjoyable

I think for any occasion Old Docks is the place to go. Food is outstanding and the staff awesome too.

Came in for dinner and a few cocktails. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Really impressed with the amount of gluten free options, many places could take heed here! We had the 6 oz burger, salmon, and the cajun chicken. All of them were gluten free and really tasty! Can't wait to come back.

Never again had lamb for Sunday lunch could not eat it to say it was tuff would be an understatement as i say never ever again total waste if money

When I got to the restaurant there was a huge queue at the door , it took nearly 10minutes waiting before a waitress came near us to ask if we were booked in and when we confirmed that we were it took another 5/10 minutes before they came back to us. (The waitress that originally got our name asked 4 other familys if they were us before she came back to us (bear in mind i had 3 small children with me) We got seated and ordered our food. We ordered 2 soups to start and initially the soup looked and tasted lovely so i give my daughter half of my bowl as she wanted some and to my suprise she started to question what was in the soup initially i thought it was parts of veg that hadn't been fully blended but on closer inspection it turned out to be CLINGFILM within the soup if my child had of eating that it could have made her extremely sick and more than likely i had already cusumed smaller particles of clingfilm. this was brought to the waitresses attention as they collected our plates where she had apologised but this contamination should not have been present in the soup. We then had to wait a further 20minutes on our main. The main course that i ordered was a 50/50 that I eat in most other restaurants was horribly overcooked and poisoned with garlic,completely uneatable. Staff were very slow too and had too keep asking for drinks that had already been ordered. I then went to pay and my bill seemed extremely high for all that I had gotten. They had added another tables bill to mine which again should not have happened. Normally I would just pay and go but I knew it wasn't right. They did solve the bill issue and agreed to remove the price of the soup but god knows how many other servings of this soup was sent out prior to us . Overall I am extremely unhappy with my time there today

Visited The old docks today for lunch with the family , cannot recommend the place enough the food and service was 5 star . Our waitress (blonde hair and glasses ) was amazing nothing was a bother and she was very friendly and attentive to all tables around us. The old school sponge cake was amazing will definitely be returning !!

staff were vaping in the kitchen on top of the food! The food was stale and tasteless and the place stinks of grease.

Had been to this restaurant when it got taken over a few years ago and hadn’t returned as food and service was poor. Only returned this time as it was for a work do. Table was booked for 7pm for a large party and it was not ready until after 7pm. There was another large party whose table also wasn’t ready so everyone was crowded at the front door. A few of our party ordered drinks at the bar and it took forever for their cocktails to be made. They even heard that the bar had ran out of ice. When we got seated, no one asked if we wanted to order drinks. When we flagged down a waiter to order water for the table, it took us another 2 requests and 25 minutes passed before water arrived to the table. When the water arrived, the lady did not bring any glasses. So we had to wait another 10 minutes with bottles of water and no glasses to pour out the water. The waiter who took our orders tried to make funny comments about “how long does it take water to arrive to the table” and “a glass would be helpful to drink water” but never did anything about it. One of our party ordered a gin fizz and was brought a pink gin and lemonade. This saga continued and another 3 gin and lemonades were brought to the table that no one ordered. Eventually someone said they would take the drink to end the saga and the bar man ignored her and walked away with the drinks. Food was substandard. Ordered Louisiana chicken stack. Plate was massive but portion was small, assuming because of increase in costs. Sweet potato mash must have had one tablespoon of sweet potato in it - flavourless. Side of champ was awful. I’ve never had bad mashed potatoes at a restaurant but this champ was dry and lumpy. I only ate some of it because I was so hungry! Once I ate a few bites off the top layer I could see old scallions mixed in and I could only assume this was leftover mash from during the week and that’s why it was so dry and lumpy. Some of the party enjoyed their food, others did not but perhaps it was dependent on what was ordered. Dessert was raspberry ruffle cheesecake and it was the only good part of the meal. Then comes the bill which is always a nightmare for big parties. Drinks were added to bill that were already paid for but these were removed when asked about at the till. Overall, poor food and poor service. Reminder of why I have never returned to this establishment.

A fantastic place for both food and drink. We stopped in for a quick business lunch and ended up staying for dessert, you have too when its old school sponge and custard 😊 one of our favourite places in Derry we've eaten in.

Our family went here for our sons 21st birthday last week. food was first class, atmosphere great, excellent value for money. was very impressed

The food was terrible but worse than that, the female staff were awful, you could tell from a mile away they did not want to be there. The male staff were nice and pleasant but the female staff were the complete opposite, would not recommend this place to anyone

Would have given this resteraunt a 5 bt one thing bugged me,we were sat at table 20 for our dinner and while we sat and ate,2 of the staff sat outside right in corner smoking and 2 different times.if staff want to smoke try smoking away from front of premises and in view of customers.

We spent 5 days in Derry and ate at The Old Docks twice! Absolutely first class service from Seany and his team. Our daughter is coeliac and the gluten free menu is amazing. Very rare you can get such an extensive gluten free menu. Best place we’ve eaten in a long time and will definitely be back next time we’re over! Special mention to Chantelle, she was so attentive and made us feel so welcome! Thanks again to all at The Old Docks!

Had the worst pizza ever and the crust was covered with gritty sand. Never had pizza like this even if it was stone baked and the crust was like thick and hard.

Chicken escalope was lovely but kind of tastes like sodacream if you get it with the peppered sauce. The garlic chips could've been a lot more garlic tasting, but was cooked nice and was nice with the peppered sauce when the chicken wasn't as much. Tabasco onions were very nice. Cheesecake was kept in the same fridge as the onions which did cause a little bit of an onion taste to the dessert. Food was mediocre but the server was lovely.

Reasonable price food,good service

We found a very good restaurant in Derry. While looking for something to eat, we noticed the Old Docks. As a starter I had the chilli nachos, which were very tasty. The main course was lasagne, which was also very tasty. The portions are really huge and you can't say anything for the price! Four of us ate, 3 starters and 4 main courses, 4 beers and paid a total of 98 euros. The staff is very nice and friendly!

Bit lackadaisical with service.. food served had to ask repeatedly for cutlery . And waited 7 minutes to pay the bill. Needs looked into !!

Visited while in the Derry area on holiday. Querky but good decor, great menu, nice atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming staff. Very busy at 6.00 on a week day, so can only assume it's busier at weekends and you might need to book in advance. Despite it being busy, we were served quickly, got our drinks swiftly, and food followed quickly too.

Had a few meals in the Old Docks now and have to say it has been excellent on each and every occasion, it has become my first preference for dinners out!

Our 50th Wedding anniversary was on 2nd June and 15 of us went toThe Old Docks for a night out. The food was excellent and the staff were very, very helpful. We didn’t have to wait any length of time for all our meals. I can’t wait to go back

When I went to go to the bathroom I walked in on Shielsy (manager) scoffing down on a big owl cheese burger, to be frank this man does not need this cheeseburger, as a matter of fact my cheese burger was 30 mins late, I believe this was my cheese burger he was eating. WON’T BE BACK. DON’T EAT MY CHEESE BURGER.

Excellent food range for lunch menu and less than £10 per mains and sides as well as service.

I have to say the food was very good, everyone enjoyed what they ordered. There is a comprehensive menu, and something for everyone. The Goats Cheese and Ribs were excellent starters. The steaks were cooked to perfection as ordered from Blue to Medium. The salmon was perfect and chicken dishes very tasty. The desserts hit the spot. There was a good drinks menu and cocktails were very good. The staff, were rushed off their feet but very pleasant and helpful. Two minor points were firstly it had more the feeling of an American Diner than a relaxing restaurant, and secondly the staffing was a little too frantic at times. That said I would recommend and would have no hesitation going back.

Went for lunch with some friends... First I noted some of the kitchen staff running around going out for smoke break but they came through main restaurant ....the food we ordered was burnt. One freind got cajun chicken which was heavily cover in cajun powder... She could not taste anything anything other than cajun overdone. My chicken burger was burnt around the edges also bun. Another freind a steak which looked like minute steak. All our foods had to much seasoning... And other freind her chicken was tough as boots. We didn't want to complain... " It's a Derry thing" but in hindsight we should have. Staff running around being very loud. Plus two females maybe off duty staff being loud ...a experience I would not repeat...two staff very nice manners.. but it put me in mind of a children's playground noise levels... Anyway Safe to say we will not be back.........

Food was great but this is the 2nd place in Derry as a US citizen that they give you the worst seat in the restaurant all alone in the farthest corner possible. Coincidence? I think not. Food was great and so was the service from our waitress.

We wanted local food and atmosphere when we were in Derry. The Old Docks did not disappoint. The place was alive with local folks who were celebrating their birthdays and a communion when we were there. It was pretty cool and the food was really good too!

Was out for my mum's birthday. Jazz was on but the music was far too loud to even speak to each other. Was glad when guy finished his gig because we could actually converse then. Only other thing was that we got all our mains but had to wait another 5 mins for the sides as they weren't ready. Why bring the mains out when sides weren't ready? Don't get it.. food was filling down quickly too. Apart from that the staff were nice and friendly and food was nice enough.

I usually love this restaurant but terrible food today. Ordered chilli steak pitta pocket…. Hardly any filling and the pitta bread was stale and inedible. The coleslaw was cheap and disgusting with zero flavour. The wine and garlic potatoes were lovely. Desert…… ordered the raspberry...

Great food great staff reasonably priced

We ate in this restaurant on Sunday, it was very good and plentiful. We were 2 adults and a child for 58 lives (cocktail, meal and dessert for each). We were surprised to see on the bill that he charged for the mayonnaise that we had requested for our child's fries. I recommend.

Ate here last night there was 10 in our group, couldn't fault a single thing. The staff,service and food was great. They were attentive and couldn't do enough. Many of our group had the fillet steak and each was cooked to perfection. Honestly some of the best food I've tasted in a while. Will definitely be back.

I arrived at the restaurant at 3:30 I was sitted right away and the table had lunch menus on it me and my partner thought this is great good prices but after 10 minutes we were told lunch was over and we were handed the wrong menu they handed us the new menu that had all the same stuff but a few more options but it was more expensive than the lunch lunch was 9:50 for meal and free side and on the dinner around 12:50 and having to pay for the side (the same food) I had ordered a pizza and I don't agree with putting things on a menu that you can't make the pizza had to be one of the worst I've seen and just tasted poor my girlfriend went for salt and chilli chicken noodles and she was not impressed, they had a few to many staff on but all not having a clue what they were doing one had spilt sauce all over the floor next to the table beside me and then just walked away leaving a mess and not returning till that table had left and had got a other member off staff to clean it up, I had a very disappointing experience poor food with equally poor staff won't be back I would recommend avoiding this place

The food is really good, very tasty and good flavours. Staff are very nice although the service is really bad.
