Ordered a hazy IPA that I know really well as my local serves it and was served something completely different. They’ve obviously tapped the wrong keg but god forbid a woman tells them they’re wrong. Will not be coming again. Edited: I spoke to a really considerate female member of staff who did in fact confirm they had tapped the wrong beer. It’s just a shame I didn’t actually get an apology.

Great food, amazing staff, beautiful pub that is well worth stopping into when walking around this fantastic area. Had the chicken roast and it was both generous and so tasty. The chicken was super tender and every side was delicious. A big shout out to Rob who works there- fantastic staff member. Could not have been more friendly and helpful. Dogs very welcome.

Travelled down for the boat race. Of course it was very busy and not really anywhere to stand to enjoy the music. Blonde, 30s waitress had a face like a slapped botty and barked at us to move as she clearly didn’t want us to stand where we were. Sorry love, I’ll go and pay £8 a pint somewhere they at least smile while taking my money.

They’ve done a lot with their outside space here – patios, a fire pit, massive amounts of undercover seating with booths and heaters – good effort. Inside smells a bit damp but it is cosy when the fire’s roaring in winter. Food is good as is the service, and it’s lovely to be right on the Thames, although you cannot tell from the pub nor the beer garden as you cannot see the river. If you want a bit more class and nicer views, head down to the Old Ship (about a 5 min walk).

We called in to the Black Lion in the vain hope of finding a table for a late Sunday lunch. And were rewarded with friendly staff and a table straight away. The malbec was great and the mango gin incredible 😋 As were the two roast pork dinners, which arrived in good time. The atmosphere was comfortable, the pub welcoming. And one particular member of staff Amar was personable, helpful and efficient. A really excellent Sunday lunch experience, thank you😀

Delicious soup and the crunchiest tasty fries. Early in the day, so not many in. Lovely log fire lit. Right by the river.

Great service (unfortunately didn’t get the name of the person serving us, but he was really lovely!), hearty portions, very succulent pork belly, tender lamb shank, tasty corn-fed chicken, great burger and also the vegetarian option of mushroom, courgette and cheddar wellington was greatly received! We even managed to make some room for a lovely selection of coconut milk ice cream with chocolate and coconut tart etc. in spite of already feeling full! Highly recommend with a walk along the river before and afterwards!

Nice and relaxing atmospheres , lots of different places to sit and enjoy your meal and drinks . Very close to the river such an enjoyable old style pub with very and warming staff !

Held a 40th birthday party. The Black Lion team were welcoming , helpful and very much made this a very successful event. Food excellent thank you all so much

Had a company Xmas meal here on Tuesday, best Xmas gathering this year. The food was very good, everyone happy with their choices. The staff were excellent and added to our overall enjoyment. An excellent night, highly eecommend

I had arrived early for a tour of the nearby Fuller’s Brewery. With no eating facilities there I took a pleasant walk to find a pub. The Black Lion was the first pub that we came to. We were warmly welcomed and found our own table for two for food. The ale had been well kept and was very good. I ordered spare ribs which came with very tasty coleslaw and beautifully cooked chips. As for the ribs themselves; they were cooked to perfection. They easily came off the bone and were extremely tasty - probably the best I have ever had in a pub/restaurant. My son had a burger that he too really enjoyed. Service was prompt and efficient by two different pleasant members of staff. The atmosphere was relaxed. I only visited Chiswick to attend the brewery but if I lived nearby or visited frequently, The Black Lion would be my pub of choice.

We stopped here on our way back from the Fuller's brewery, a nice place next to the river with a huge terrace and lots of outdoor tables. We enjoyed our pints here, nice atmosphere, calm and relaxing.

Fantastic Sunday!! And the beer garden was massive.Ordered Wellington and Chicken from Sunday Menu both absolutely delicious! All cooked to perfection ,homemade gravy, and giant Yorkshire pudding! Very busy. However, the service was prompt, and with a smile,nothing was a problem, dog friendly.Will definitely be back and recommend! OMG, and not to mention, they will have curling from next week...fun fun fun 😄

I can highly recommend visiting The Black Lion. Service was really great and you can see that managers of this place try to create a unique atmosphere where everybody can feel good. The food was really tasty and fresh, perfect place for beer with friends and Sunday Roast as well.

Arrived for Thursday quiz night. Busy with good service at the bar. Quizmaster is professional but would need eyes in the back of his head to look out for the teams that refer to their phones for every round of questions!

A lot of outdoor space which is what you go for, even if you can't see the river. There's the typical food choices and they're typically average.

Very quiet but lovely pub. Didn't have any food but menu and prices looked reasonable. Met some friends for a catch up and we were comfortable and found it easy to talk and get service at the bar.

The staff behind the bar are friendly. The bar can get busy like most places. The beer garden is huge! So much outdoor seating and the menu looks good too. Nice staff and good vibes. I would reccommend it for large gatherings too as there is so much space. A nice variety of beers on draft and a decent food menu. We had the fish and chips. The fish was absolutely delicious! Super crispy skin and soft fish. The chips were OK-just tasted like oven chips. Would order again though!

On a return visit to the pub, we had a roast beef and pork dinner, service was excellent, and the roast was delicious, I could not fault it one bit, it passed all my expectations and we will definitely return..

I was at the Black Lion to celebrate my birthday with a party of about 20 people and it was absolutely amazing. The food is great and the staff is super helpful. Definitely recommend! Lovely space outside, very big, with a tent to protect in case of bad weather and just general great vibes.

Really good pub with a great outdoor space. Bit of a nightmare with the queuing system which was different, which some people stick to and others just go to other parts of the bar to get served quicker and jump the line.

We just discovered this place - about a month ago and it now become one of our favs. 😍. Both inside and outdoors are amazing. In short this place is cosy and delicious. Staff is friendly and hardworking.

Please make sure your staff is aware of the cleanliness of the building. Maintaining doesn't look it's in place. Good beer, but not enough for 5 stars. Deceived by the "Large platter" menu as actually getting regular portion in London for a tiny bit less money at secure, clean and well maintained places.

Nice garden to come and grab a drink with some snacks if the weather permits. The service was good at the bar and they brought our pizza on the table. The pizza itself wasn’t particularly great but I came here for the beers so all good.

Great location as ever food very mediocre. Th “falafel” burger is a mashed sweet potato fritter in a bun. Menu identical to most other pubs.

Really like this pub, its near to the river, with friendly staff and a good selection of wine and beer. The food is good too.

Looks like nice place but we didn't stay as it was VERY busy and had an overwhelming smell of fish throughout...... 🤔

The place has a huge terrace, perfect for the sunny days. The food is delicious and the portions are big. You need to go to the bar to order but even in a busy hour wasn't that much queue, they are quick and attentive. The waiter was so kind and the food was serve quickly.

Great pub, lovely sitting area but if you can't serve certain items of a roast, don't serve it at all or provide a replacement. Not the customers fault if you run out!

Me and my girlfriends have visited the Black Lion for the first time today recommended by a friend.lovely location, close to the river yet a bit out of the way. great food , sunday roast.we had beef and chicken perfectly cooked.moreover the veggies were cooked to perfection crunchy and fresh. All finished with a glass of sauvignon blanc, New Zeland, great wine. All and all lovely lunch.great service food and vibe.thank you Black Lion Hammersmith.we will be back for sure!

Nice. Went here on a first date, happened to be on the afternoon of the University boat race. Managed to get a table, and food and cider that wasn't Bulmer's. Was warm and comfortable. Didn't see many melanised mature males of the species Pathera leo, which was a slight disappointment but to be fair I wouldn't want to write the risk assessment for having large carnivorous mammals in the pub.

went with my daughter on 21st birthday for lkSunday publunch and walk by the river both disappointed, short of staff / Roast beef chewy with uncooked veg and flopy Yourkshire pudding hope management get the place back toghether as it use tobe.

Third visit. Third lovely experience. Third super meal. Very busy with rugby on big screens but we found a quiet corner and a great time.

Lovely food, great staff. It has a 'small' pub feel but there is oodles of seats both inside and especially outside. Inside there is a long function type room as overflow to the main bar area. Nice and cosy in the cooler months. Great in summer for outside dining and drinking with additional food service hatches when busy. My goto pub during a river wander whatever time of year.

Having been turned away (after having booked) at the pub next door, The Black Lion accommodated us at the last minute on a Saturday evening - despite being very busy! The pub had a great atmosphere, the waiter was lovely - very friendly, efficient and helpful and the food was great. Thank you!

I have been there few times, we have the house berger everytime. Never disappointed! Have tried berger at different pubs but I love this one. The walk we take to get there by the Thames is beautiful , I would recommend this for anyone lives in the area.

Always go here if we want a roast. Lots of other food available. It's great in the summer as it has a lovely big garden with plenty of seating. Watch the Lionesses win the Euros here
