What a fabulous pub! Stopped off for lunch during a quick visit to the town. A lovely warm welcome, great hospitality and a fine lunch. Recommended.

Stopped here in passing. The only pub in the town that was open, served food and had a car park. Lovely well kept pub, landlady was very friendly, and the food was tasty, filling and generously portioned. We travel this route quite often so will return in the future.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, choice of 5 meals, including vegetarian. Absolutely the best Sunday meal out I have ever had. Seasoned to perfection. The bar staff were very attentive, with drinks served at the table. Very accommodating. We didn't book, were warmly welcomed. In addition, we noticed there are some special deals offered on different days, and are excellent value! Definitely going back in the week to try the fish and chips! Lovely large beer garden too.

Just visited the Crown for a fish and chip lunch, superb well worth the money. 100% better than it was 12 months ago. Now under new management and well worth a visit. Will be back for more soon.

Visited this pub today. Had a lovely meal. Its useual pub grub but absolutely nothing to complain about. Pub was busier than on a previous visit. But we were looked after and I wasn't expensive. We would visit again. We want to try the Sunday roast. Maybe next week.

Ate Sunday dinner here not long ago and it was pretty good. The presentation and food quality was good, and quite tasty. The staff were friendly and efficient, though the pub itself felt a bit rundown. There is plenty of parking out back and prices were pretty average for a pub Sunday dinner.

Wasn’t the best visit. Ordered jacket potatoes which the guy at the till put through for us. Around 10/15 minutes later they let us know that they did not have jacket potatoes and we could have a sandwich instead as they didn’t know how to refund. When the food arrived we were not given any cutlery or serviettes. The area we were sat in also smelt of damp which wasn’t pleasant. The food was basic.

Such a shame the last employees were moved on as we had such lovely time round Xmas. Took family in last week and absolutely shocking service to start I ordered all four drinks and paid and also said thanks, yet the so called barman (gold knuckle ring on) didn’t say one word! No hi no thanks no what would you like not one word WOOOW!!!! On the plus side we laughed about it all way home but what a shame. Lovely pub at the bottom of our road potentially ruined. Sad 😞

I really really really wanted to like this place. It seemed like such bad nice place from the outside but I just can't give it another go. I've been in here multiple times now, just for a few beers on my own, and it just feel backwards. You have patrons constantly slagging each other off having a domestic in what is essentially an empty bar. You have sky sports on multiple tellys, playing sport commentary, but you can't hear them because the music is so loud. If it's 6.30 on a thursday at night, you don't need loud music, you need that later when the party has started. The people behind the bar (I assume they are the owners) just seem miserable a lot of the time. It's so sad, because the bar itself, looks lovely. It's decor is really nice, it's a great location for residents nearby, but it just lacks something. Nowadays people say its a place for the young adults to hang out on weekend, I darent go and confirm it though, I've tried enough times now :(

Went in for something to eat. I had the pie and my wife had the steak. The pie filling was over cooked and the mash was cold. I asked for peas and got a selection of greens that were over boiled. One was cucumber?? My wife's steak had more gristle than beef jerky. And the chips were really greasy. Never again

Lovely homely family pub. Relaxed environment, friendly and helpful staff and delicious food. We have visited here a few times over the last month and we love it! Happy to call it our new local. Thanks Rory for looking after us so well.

Had a meal here on a Friday night, good relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff, food was decent and service acceptable nice little place!

Awful from the beginning. Sat down and didn’t get our order taken for at least 15 minutes… however it was Saturday night, it was busy, I get it. Drinks take another 15 minutes to come and get given to the table next to us. Left on that table for 10 minutes before they realised. Got given a jug of water for the table with no glasses. We assumed they were coming and waited for 10 minutes at least before going to the bar to ask for some. Food took over an hour to come which is fine if it’s worth the wait. It wasn’t. The burgers were nice however the dirty fries came cold so were sent back. They had obviously microwaved them because 2 minutes later they came back hot and soggy with the plastic cheese crispy. The dirty fries came with cubes of processed chicken which had seen better days. The pizza had “jerk chicken” which was grey. We had 2 slices of pizza out of 6 and potentially 4 chips. When asked if it was okay we said not really and explained the problems. We were told there was nothing wrong and basically we were making it all up. No apologies etc. She said the fries were soggy because of the sauce however some of the chips weren’t even cooked properly. The waitress went to get the chef so we could explain but 20 minutes later… no chef! We were then told that there was nothing wrong with the food that we didn’t eat but out of the goodness of their hearts they would give us the pizza and one fries free.

A lesson in how a pub should be run! Great service, competitive offers and good food.

Very quite, but it was Sunday afternoon. Caught up with a few people I hadn't seen for a few years.

We have just celebrated mums 88th birthday at the crown Inn,with a family Sunday lunch. 15 people in total. The food was excellent, everyone sampled something different, and no one was disappointed. Good quality and decent portions. The staff were all curtious and attentive. Will definitely be going back. Thanks everyone. ❤️

The Crown has had its ups and downs over the years with different owners so thought we would try it again today - it was a success! Nice food, nice chilled out atmosphere and friendly staff. 50% off mains was a bonus too. We all said we will definitely go again.

Was a little apprehensive after reading the reviews on here...but it was lovely...all 9 of us enjoyed the meals we chose, it has a relaxed atmosphere which in turn relaxes you, far better than going to a stuck up place, the staff were very nice too...so thank you Crown Inn you now have new customers.

Basic pub but good for live sport as there are screens throughout, beer prices are a bit high but food is not bad

It was a lovely atmosphere, bright & cheerful place & very clean, (except for the disabled toilet, which was a tad on the grimy side to say the least!!)

Sunday dinner was cold, gravy was watery and Yorkshire puddings were cremated, won't be going back!!!

Really nice food and great service. We are a family of four and we all had a lovely meal there today, great food and friendly service.

Had lunch on a Wednesday, table service was excellent. Burger, side dishes and scampi were lovely. Sat outside where its got plenty of seating and space.

Would not come here again. The food was vile, microwave type of food. Just makes me angry writing this review to think I wasted money here on a run down old place. It was however dog friendly. Staff were a bit rude and not welcoming. The gin selection was good. Parking available.

Very good, friendly service. Food was okay, just okay. Had the mixed grill, chicken was sloppy for some reason so didn't finish it. Was 50% off due to the Government scheme, but even at 50% off I felt overcharged for the meal sadly... Can get better mixed grills with more for less elsewhere. My daughter loved her kids meal however, and she got an Oreo (choc ice?) which she had most of. Sausages are good quality for eating out (I'm fussy with meat produce). Kids drinks (fruit shoots), like most pubs, aren't in the fridge! So had a J2O for kids instead.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly it was not that busy when we arrived.they are still doing 50% off mon to Wed till end of September.the food was very good came out hot and served was very good could not fault the place a very enjoyable visit would visit again and recommend to family and friends 😀

Drive past this place every day when I have delivered to the Birds shop in anstey so thought we would try it for dinner, the staff are amazing and the food was excellent, nice outdoor area

We went here for another meal on Tuesday. Friendly staff very fast on bringing our food. I had a delish Gammon egg and chips. Really nice (gonna have it again next week lol ) can't fault anything. it's my fave place to go now. (And i dont go out very often) Great place to have a meal and to meet friends and a drink too.

We contacted Carl to see if The Crown could accommodated my daughters dairy and gluten intolerance. He was more than helpful and we enjoyed a fantastic meal for our friends sons birthday. The good was hot and very tasty. Not eaten there before but will certainly be back. All the staff were more than helpful and very friendly.

Vegan and vegetarian options available and not just one dish! 😉 beer garden with tables with parasols if you like the sun or not .

Took the kids for dinner, the service was excellent, the staff were friendly, helpful and really accommodating. The food came quickly and my steak was cooked to perfection. Social distancing guidelines were adhered to by all and we felt safe and comfortable the whole time. A really enjoyable visit, thank you to the Crown

Really nice meal with great service

I have lived in Anstey for 3 and a half years and never eaten at the Crown Inn the food was amazing.

Had a few drinks and a lovely meal there for my husband's 70th birthday. Very friendly staff and friendly locals. Great food and service. Was my first time here but liked it that much I've booked a Sunday dinner there this week. Can't wait😊

On arrival at pre booked table for 1 pm.. Our table was in middle of the bar and could not even sit down at it. At a price of £58 per head. We had family get together. But was spoiled by the overcrowded Ness of the pub. As compensation the manager gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. But by this time it spoiled our Christmas dinner. Which we could not fault.

Visited The Crown tonight to celebrate my nieces B’day.Everything started off well, pleasant surroundings and good company.There was 13 of us - 4 families all paying separately but ordering on the same table. Was told this wouldn’t be a problem - so the ordering began and each family visited the bar area to place orders.All good so far...The restaurant and pub was very quiet and several staff were managing the bar area - so enough staff to cater for everyone - so you would think! However, the pub must have been short staffed in the kitchen.The meals started to come out - myself and my wife had ordered variations of a Burger from the Burger selection. The description on the menu was by far not what appeared on the plate - the burger itself was described as the The Daddy MAC - a burger with Mac’n’cheese topping - with a specialist burger sauce - the mac’n’cheese transpired to be 2 nugget size cheese bites - not the grandiose description on the menu! The sauce was non existent. The burger came with a small pot of chips, and no side salad (wrong of me to expect this ???) - which was a very small serving of fries in a small Tin pot - this was fine until the other meals came out which were served on plates with a massive amount of chips - I asked the waitress why there was so much of a difference to be told it was due to the price - looking at the menu the difference between my meal and the person next to me was 50p - the difference in food was shocking.The waitress said she would bring me more fries of which I declined but were still brought out - none were offered to my wife by the waitress. There was no apology but simply put down to price. Looking across the table the portion sizes were so inconsistent- not just relating to fries/chips ... My only explanation for this is that because our meal was booked for after 7pm that food had ran out - not good enough when the restaurant table had been booked in advance.We ordered sides of onion rings - the meals for the 13 of us slowly came out before sides had even been considered - my meal was 3/4 eaten before the side arrived, the same applies to my wife. Again no apologies were given and were just bought to the table as a matter of fact. Choice was wait for a full meal - food going cold - or eating the meal in stages!Nothing else was said and the end of the meal consisted of onion rings.Whilst the plates were being cleared away - a waitress glibly informed me that the onion rings were missed off the order and that a tab had been opened at the bar. ?????We thought we had misheard and checked with another waitress who continued to clear the plates away. Her response was - oh the onion rings were missed off the order so will need to be paid for!Absolutely disgusting service - no apology or conversation to explain - just all very matter of fact. The restaurant had made a mistake and just assumed that this was ok - So, meals inconsistent, poor staff, lack of staff in the kitchen - lack of respect for customers. Definitely will not be returning - appalling visit for what should have been a Happy Birthday event.

Nice pub, bit pricey but get what you pay for.....

Awful food, luke warm starter, cold mains, frozen food. Told us the veg and came out different, ran put of everything on order. So disappointing, been here a few years ago and standards have slipped massively. Wetherspoons would be better

Went to this lovely little pub today for our annual volunteer Christmas lunch... it was marvelous!! Lovely attentive staff, fantastic food and a friendly warm welcome on a cold wet December day. Will definitely be going back. Thanks x

We visit this pub to celebrate my birthday. We had a fabulous time . What makes this pub is the staff are so friendly and helpful. The food was first class and the waitress that served the food was so polite and professional. We would definitely recommend this pub.

Went for a family lunch today at the Crown. Waiting staff were kind and friendly and very accommodating.I have food allergies which means a lot of pre prepared dishes contain allergens so I can’t have them. The lovely staff spoke with the kitchen to check when they could make and I was able to have 3 courses! A salad was made for me including the dressing. This may not sound like a big deal to some, but the very same morning I’d been to the M&S food hall to meet a friend and they had not one option I could have - genuinely only black coffee...Was lovely to not feel awkward here, or hungry. Many places treat you like you’re just fussy to trying to be fashionable rather than trying to cater for you as a customer without making you really sick. Well done and thank you!

Sunday lunch very disappointing

We rang and asked what time the kitchen closed was told 7PM got there at 6.25 and was told the kitchen was closed it shut at 6.30. We have gone to the passage to India instead they are a star restaurant.
