We celebrated a family birthday with Sunday lunch for 18 in the garden room. Great food, great service & many thanks to the Windmill team who looked after us all so well 😀

This may just be our new favourite and I don't mind the 25min drive to get there! All the meals stood out and were of an excellent standard, been once only, and will be back to try more of the menu. Excellent!

Popped in for a lunchtime sandwich, very warm welcome, lovely food (steak sandwiches chunky chips and side salad), good selection of drinks. Dog friendly, thoroughly recommended.

Oh dear. We've been coming here for ages, but not been for about 10 months. When we walked in the floor was sticky and the menu was disappointing, not the variability with what we were used to. We actually wanted to leave, but thought we'd carry on. Menu was boring. Anyway we did order, but I felt it was microwaved as even the fish was really hot and the skin soggy. What I got was a plate of tough trout and loads of greasy potatoes, no crispy kale. The tables were not placed properly, so had to move the table to get in to sit down. I went to spend a penny and the toilet next to me was constantly flushing and the toilet rolls were in a basket behind me. The paint work was in need of a work over. The bar was full of unwashed glasses when we went to pay, but the two girls serving were lovely. I really don't think that it's going to be a visit for a long time...... I was so so disappointed.

We have been for a few meals including birthday celebrations. The pub has a lovely atmosphere, the staff are very helpful and professional. A lovely place to eat out or just go for a drink.

Smart classy food led pub. In a nice village and especially cozy location. Nice easy on line booking system, draft beers were from the HUK list with their 2 best missing (Cruz and Brixton) shame. Nice pleasant service, only small ish gripe was limited vegan options, but there were some choices tbf (salad or burger) so am grateful for those, pudding choice was sorbet, which is the vgn option in 95% of places but hey. It's a nice place and to be fair would return when next in area especially if given more choice

The food is always good and the staff are always really friendly. It's also nice that you can bring your dog and also sit outside with the log burner in colder months.

Great location, food was disappointing unfortunately, portions were very small on the steaks especially considering the price. I'm happy to pay £25-£35 for a steak but this was really not a filling meal. Others in our group had a burger and other dishes that looked far better and they were very pleased, if I'm being honest the childs fish dish was better than my steak.

Really lovely pub in a small village and set next to a stream. Visited recently for a working lunch. We had the fish and chips along with the burger and a pint. Staff were really accommodating and the place feels very relaxed. This is an ideal location for a circular walk following or followed by an excellent meal.

Went for Sunday lunch, food arrived luke warm with main accompaniments missing, (which should of been served at the time)had to wait for veg(cold) and cauliflower cheese (cauliflower which needed cooking longer as it was very raw with no sauce)waiting staff very inexperienced, had to ask twice for condiments and gave out wrong information regarding the desserts.said waitress put her head in her hands just before she got to the kitchen, which we saw, not professional.We had mentioned about our disappointment to the waitress when she asked but had no response , said the manager would sort but manager uninterested.

Dined at the Windmill last night. Lovely atmosphere and great service. Chose fish and chip supper. Large plates so ideal for the larger appetite. Fish very fresh and well cooked. Good prices and warm, welcome staff. Couldn't wish for a nicer village pub/ diners.

Had a family/friends birthday here, with a booked function room, service and food was outstanding, Inside setting is lovely and cosy, with an indoor log burner come winter and outdoor fire pit. Brilliant traditional country pub. Will definitely return for food and drinks.

A beautiful summer experience in the garden with a delicious lunch. We saw someone else's lunch arrive and just had to try it: the cauliflower taccos! I've never been disappointed here. Wish it was nearer so I could go more often 😊

The food was great with a good selection of ales.

I ordered the hot roast ciabatta with sides for lunch. It was extremely tasty the beef being tender and cooked as described. Being the curious type I made discreet glances at other diners food. Everything looked fresh and well presented. The people next to me told me they had enjoyed their meals I will dine at The Windmill again when I am in the area. The service was efficient and value fair for the quality.

As a Coeliac it is so nice to have a good selection of the menu that is adaptable, staff that understand and gluten free beer 😊

Lived in the area for a long time and only came across The Windmill Inn a week ago. Really nice place, so much better than the chain pubs now all over the place. Warm environment, friendly staff and very nice food. Had a three-course meal and couldn’t fault it. Everything seemed home-made and was very tasty. Only cheeky mention would be a request to add two scoops of ice cream instead of one to the double chocolate cookie desert as gets a bit dry when the single scoop runs out. Great place, thoroughly recommend eating here.

Expensive good quality food in small portions. Tables uncomfortably close for proper social distancing makes conversation difficult.

The service is always friendly and the food is second to none. Great value and even better taste. I had ordered from the party menu along with some friends of mine and really there was too much to eat. I will definitely be going back next Xmas xx

Christmas roast was excellent. Steak (sirloin) was really good, but had better elsewhere for less £. Steak night is a good option, especially if you want to share a bottle of wine but I believe the wine deal is limited to Rump only. Really enjoyed the visit and the meal. The bill came to about £70 for a steak, Christmas roast, two desserts, two pints and two soft drinks, so it's on the pricier end of pub meals, but you do get quality food for that price so it's worth it.

We had booked a table for 7 on a Saturday lunchtime. The staff were friendly, attentive and we were given a big table. Great service and superb food. It’s great to find a pub that doesn’t rush you, and reasonably priced. We really enjoyed our visit. Only 4 stars as the vegetarian options were awful. The only option was Jackfruit or a cheese sandwich. Please can you offer more vegetarian options.

A fantastic place to eat - food was superb and waiting staff friendly and efficient- will definitely go back- made to feel welcome and unrushed- the Eton Mess is to die for - cannot fault it.

Disappointed as only one veggie option available which was not for me but a different child's option was, so I had a bigger version of that. Nice, but a bit much after a while though - a large bowl of macaroni cheese with some nice garlic bread. The three other people I went with were non veggies and loved what they had.

We were welcomed and seated quickly. Service was good but food disappointing. Chips overcooked. Pea puree not pleasant. We gave The Windmill a chance . Not impressed.

get what you pay for here, I’d rather go to places where it’s a bit more expensive but the food is outstanding, this is one of those places, best steak I’ve ever had without a doubt, really attentive staff, very friendly and welcoming considering we hadn’t booked, will be back and have already recommended this place to other friends

Great steak sandwich and garden

Hi ,we took the family and my Aunt who is 90 years old for a meal, because we couldn't get together at Christmas, we had to eat outside which was fine because of covid, my Aunt can't walk far, I asked if there were any steps, he said 1 step from the back entrance, well there must of been at least 5, we had quite a job getting her up and down the steps, which for me and my aunt was very worrying. I can honestly say we wouldn't have come if we had known. We do enjoy coming for a meal on occasion, but we we're very disappointed we weren't told about the steps

We didn't book, but they had a table on a Sunday afternoon. Not many left. I would recommend booking in future to avoid disappointment. The staff were attentive and helpful. Drinks were good. Didn't stay for food.

Lovely setting, great decor, staff very pleasant and comply with covid without feeling rushed or stressed. The food was amazing, Korean spiced steak was fantastic cooked perfect, my partner had chicken breast and she loved it also. Plentiful portion so we didn't sample dessert.Didn't get rushed from our table very pleasant evening. Will look forward to a return evening.

A really nice Saturday lunch here in late Oct 2020, visiting the young 'un at Loboro Uni. We sat in the bar area because we had the dogs with us. The main eating area, where quite reasonably we couldn't take the beasts, looked very attractive too. Interesting sea food options on the menu, but our party opted variously for a chicken dish, scampi (the 18yo as as 1970s nostalgist), and a goats cheese mousse available in starter or mains form. This was my choice. As a main, served with heritage tomatoes, beetroot and a new potato terrine I wasn't sure it would work, but it was magnificently fresh and coherent. Nice puddings. The pudding menu almost tempted me to a port or sticky wine with judiciously placed offers, but we settled for a couple of rounds of coffees. I can see this becoming a go-to place for meeting up in the area. Staff are lovely. Warmly recommended

Lovely atmosphere with great food all around! They are very accomodating to gluten free and vegetarian food needs! Would recommend thoroughly!

I go there most often around weekends, the staff they hire are extremely friendly, the beer garden is beautiful and the food they serve is amazing.

Was really looking forward to our 3rd visit here, I love this place. However my pork belly I was served was really tasteless. My wife's gammon was absolutely amazing, just as mine was on the previous 2 occasions. When asked by staff is the meal OK, I politely said it was OK... ish. I finished the meal and on clearing the table another waitress again asked was everything OK and I told her the same and she said oh nooo, I shall tell the restaurant manager. We were then left waiting for an age for the bill, so I just went to the bar myself and paid it. The manager was standing at the bar looking at me while I paid and never mentioned the meal issue at all. Why is it some places can't deal with small gripes correctly. Would love to go back but you don't forget these things. Mick and Wendy.
