We didn't eat but the food looked excellent, really friendly staff with a lovely atmosphere.

My girlfriend and I were staying in the area for a few days and booked a table in the restaurant at The Golden Cross for dinner on Valentines Day. It proved to be a very smart decision! Clearly a lot of thought and effort had gone into the menu and, at £80 per couple, it certainly was fantastic value. The (plentiful) food was cooked beautifully and very nicely presented. We enjoyed chatting with the co-owner, Laura, who confirmed that they intentionally limited the number of bookings for that night so as to look after their guests properly...which they absolutely did. Highly recommended!

Friendly helpful staff good food and choice of beers

Back in our favourite cosy country restaurant. We absolutely love coming to the Golden cross, the warm welcome from The owners and the food is outstanding! A la cartè dining at a fraction of the cost you would pay in the nearest town of Stratford upon Avon. Our little gem of a place. Supporting local businesses not these big corporate company's. Keep doing what your doing guys your service, food and restaurant speak for themselves.

Oh dear!. Went last year with family. Nice atmosphere, good food, efficient service So, went back again. Disaster,what has happened? Freezing cold, food poor, fish and chips smelt funny. BUT, worst of all arrived 12.15. Waited 10 m to order anything. Meal finally arrived 50 minutes later!!!!!! and quality taken a dive. That's one off the list!!! Don't go until they get their act together. Nearly an hour to get food on table really unacceptable

Family Christmas Eve dinner. Food was well presented, plentiful and tasty. Everyone was happy with choices. We’ve always liked this pub; recently food has gone up a notch along with prices but still good value and staff always pleasant and helpful.

Organised a group christmas meal for 17 people, from the outset the pub was helpful and even threw in a free glass of bubbly. On the night they were very well organised, staff excellent and more importantly everyone was delighted with their meal. One of our group was gluten and dairy free and it was not a problem. We had the main dining room to ourselves which was a bonus and it was beautifully decorated. Well done!

Sunday lunch, always on point. We stopped for lunch with family who were travelling back to Lancashire. We called for an early Sunday lunch and sat in the cosy bar area by the log burner. Very lovely atmosphere, with super friendly staff. The Sunday lunch was absolutely delicious. We had the roast which was accompanied by a hearty selection of vegetables and cauliflower brocoli cheese, so tasty. We highly recommend The Golden Cross....hats off to the Chef and front of house team.

This place is brilliant! Food- although not on the main menu, the chef went out of his way to provide a range of great vegan options, I had vegetable pie, full of root veggies, mushrooms greens, delicious; hubby had chicken pie equally yummy. Staff- brilliant, polite, friendly, really attentive. Beer - fantastic, well kept. Ambience- lovely!

Most of us had the homemade soup, which was lovely. The fish and chips was a good portion, had extra chips this was a bowl 😊, all the food was hot and nicely presented.

Amazing! We had our wedding reception at The Golden Cross. We had private use of the restaurant. Laura, Felan and the team could not have done more for us. The service was amazing, adding those personal touches to our special day. The food is delicious! I would highly recommend anyone to go for lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed!

Wow! Called on the off chance of an available table for lunch & Martin said they do a brilliant Sunday lunch. That is no understatement! The food was outstanding and the customer service exceptional. It’s always one thing to provide good quality food that is well-prepared but that is elevated to another level when the welcome and staff interaction is sincere. Thank you for a great meal. The golden cross is our favourite place to go out for a family dinner, the food is always excellent,fresh and tasty, fish and chips is a firm fave for me, Laura and felan and the team are super friendly and go above and beyond to accommodate their guests. We also visit regularly for drinks, they have a lovely beer garden which is perfect to enjoy a pint in on a warm summers day🌞

Great Local pub! Always nice to come for a few drinks on an evening as we have banter with the bar staff while ordering, the pub is warm, inviting and the staff are friendly. Drinks are well priced, Dogs are welcome and the food is great, what more could you ask for! :)

First time there beautiful pub safe excellent look after the public they changed my beer due to it being cloudy food excellent good food and provided for everybody gluten free.

This lovely pub was recommended to us and it didn't fail to impress! The owners went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful evening, the service was attentive and the food was delicious. What a wonderful Pub/Restaursnt this is. We came for Sunday lunch, 3 adults and one child. My great nephew has allergies and the staff could not be more accomodating letting us bring his food with us. Little man wasn't feeling to good because of the heay and a poor nights sleep and once again without even having to ask a large fan was placed to cool him down and a buggy to get him to sleep so his Mum could still eat her meal. The food was amazing (Roast Turkey and Lamb Shoulder). Everything was perfect and the service was above and beyond. If you are in the area or close by make an effort to visit this place you will mot regret it.

What a lovely place! My partner and I were visiting the area, staying in a cabin nearby. This pub was recommended to us by the cabin owners, and it was great. Laura, who I believe is one of the owners and front of house is lovely. Really welcoming and great at her job. We sat outside and had a drink in the beer garden which is so pretty, also has lots of visiting dogs which is a bonus for me! The food was great, cooked to perfection, everything homemade. Very tasty. We didn't book and they still kindly accommodated us. Good food takes time, this is a beautiful village pub with one chef who cooks well. It's not a chain pub, or a fast food place, where things are out in 10 minutes. Quality takes time, and I for one, don't mind waiting for it. A very comfortable, pleasant pub that I'm more than happy to sit and enjoy, whilst my food is being lovingly made. Also, lovely little gin selection and some rum I'd never seen before which was very nice. Spotlessly clean, very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back if we're ever in the area again. This was our first visit to the Golden Cross. We were impressed by the menu, which we accessed online, and booked an early table for dinner on a Saturday evening. We were surprised to find that there was not a separate area for dining. The pub was quiet when we arrived. That didn't last. 3 couples who were there just for drinks occupied the table immediately next us and were that noisy that it was impossible for us to have a conversation which ruined what was intended to be a relaxed meal. An extensive menu is offered. The food is good without being in any way special. It is not 'pub grub'. We cannot understand why there is not a separate dining area to allow diners to enjoy their meals. It would make such a difference to the dining experience.

We were visiting an event nearby and were a little early. Needing refreshments and the use of the facilities we pulled into the large car park. Warmly welcomed we obtained the refreshments and adjourned to the spacious garden area. We decided to stop again for a meal on our way home and booked a table, (a good decision as it turned out), and left. On our return it was much busier but the welcome as warm as before. The cooked to order food was very enjoyable and reasonably priced. We will certanly return when we visit the area again.

Myself and my partner have just visited 31/5/23 @ 7pm. we were seated straight away and drinks order taken. Drinks arrived after 10 minutes without a food menu, was told be back with menu's. we waited for 20 minutes still no menu, found menu on website using our mobile phone. After 40 minutes of still waiting approached the bar to pay for drinks as that is the honest thing to do. was given a false apology for the delay with the lack of menu, this was after being asked if we are dining. Advised after waiting for 40 minutes we are leaving, was given another false apology and was still expected to pay for 2 drinks. No apology given don't worry about the drinks bill. Really Realy poor customer service. This is not how a small family pub should be run. People came in after us and were seated, given food menu's and food order even taken. Advice don't sit round the corner from.the bar, out of sight out of mind. Will not be visiting again.

43 Members of Alcester u3a (an organisation for retired and semi-retired people) sat down today to a superb 2 course lunch at The Golden Cross, Ardens Grafton. Both the food and the service were first class! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the owners, Laura and Felan, were very willing to accommodate our needs. As the organiser of this event, I send a huge THANK YOU to all involved in making this such an enjoyable experience!

Lunch for 14 hungry walkers and everyone very happy with the lunchtime 2 meals for £20 offer. The pub was almost full but Laura & her small team seemed to keep everyone happy with speedy service, a welcoming smile & nothing was too much trouble. The food was cooked fresh & helpings very adequate. Heartily reccomended. Well done Laura & her team.

I visited The Golden Cross with a friend for Sunday lunch but sadly we weren’t overly happy with our food. We both ordered the beef (which says on the menu is served pink) but unfortunately it was over cooked. The roast potatoes were cold, hard and tasted like they had been cooked 5 hours earlier and reheated, the veg served with it was cold too and none of seemed to be seasoned. The staff were friendly and the pub garden really is very lovely to sit in but we wouldn’t come back for food unfortunately.

Superb meal after lovely walk in the surrounding countryside. Real ales and stunning food...lost count of the variety of beautifully cooked veg with my vegetarian main course. 😋

My Fav Country Pub Visited here now 4 times over the last few months the food is absolutely amazing, A La Cartè dining, hats off to the chef! Not ur usual pub grub which is so good, all local produce from the fresh fish to the poultry to the vegetables, I can’t fault the high level of quality ingredients they use at a fraction of the price you pay in some restaurants. The standard of food has been excellent every visit not a bad word to say about any of the food. It our little go to place for a cheeky date or with the children / family. The owners are celebrating there 1 year anniversary today since taking over and they deserve this post more than ever. A beautiful traditional country pub with beautiful garden and very exceptional food. Well done guys!

Well, not been here since before Covid, new owners (just the last year) in place, and they have transformed the place! Noticed that the reviews over the last few months have been mainly 5's. Have to say I do not disagree. Only the 2 owners (man and wife - sorry I did not get their names) cooking/serving, and admittedly there was a wait, but we were kept informed and as we were not in a hurry, not an issue. A good selection (for me) of real ales and the food (I had the faggotts and my wife and our friend had the sharing platter) - all of which were excellent. The food as well as excellent was such good value, and so too were the drinks. All in all, one to definitely return!

We have been in temporary accommodation for the last 5 months close to this gem of a pub and restaurant. The quality of food and presentation is excellent and amazing value for money resulting in us eating there at least once, sometimes twice a week....

Excellent lunch which made up for the fact it was not particularly warm at 1220! To such an extent that one of the staff was wearing a padded outdoor jacket with hood which didn't make for a welcoming ambience! While writing i would point out the out the excessive use of unnecessary apostrophes on their website!!

Stopped here for lunch with a colleague. So pleased we did! We had a starter and a main course. Both were amazing and great value. The standard of the (home cooked) food was much better than I expected for that price. The staff were very welcoming and professional and the pub/restaurant itself has so much character and was a pleasant place to be in. Looking forward to going here again next time I'm visiting a customer in this area.

What a find! We had gone for a very muddy January walk in the nearby Heart of England forest and wanted a hot lunch. The chef is very accomplished and knows his flavours. No microwaved meals here. We had the moules and tandoori prawns to start which were great. For mains we had the venison and the 3 fish. The photos do not do it justice. Both had fantastic sauces and purees that really bought the dishes together. We do not live in the area but not too far so will be back. Of course we had to have the dessert. Great service too despite being busy.

A fantastic evening for tea with santa. The pre ordering made the whole tea experience super speedy with 3 under 4 years of age that's needed. The activities and craft with santa was brilliant . Families made to feel comfortable to dine out with little ones goes along way. The food was fab, very very well priced. I would highly recommend. Absolutely brilliant. Thanks again .

Food was average and the pub was chilly despite having and open fire. Lacked atmosphere only because it was empty when we ate there. Service was good and staff were pleasant.

Just had the most beautiful meal here. Quaint pub with a fire. I had the trio of fish which came with dauphinoise, veg and a tasty sauce. And the apple crumble is to die for! Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
