The Monument in Herefordshire, County of

Been here several times in the past 12 months and usually quite good, but called yesterday and the food was abysmal. All day breakfast came with hot chips and eggs but rest of the food lukewarm or cold. Corned beef slice and chips was also poor as the pie had been left in microwave too long and was burnt up around edges Quite quiet when we arrived so no excuse for poorly prepared food.

This place is literally my local and I love it, however, recently, Sundays have been an absolute waste of space. Twice in the last month I have booked a table for 1:30 on a Sunday and been unable to order a Sunday roast, because they have sold out. You literally serve food ALL DAY, how can you possibly sell out of roast dinners 1.5 hours after opening?? It’s atrocious management.

minutes so far, the place is quiet and plenty of staff on, Ive seen 5 or 6. Still no sign of our food but we were brought someone else's. Pathetic. Not coming back

The barman was very pleasant and helpful taking my order and it went downhill fast from there! We ordered 2 classic meals which took over an hour to arrive. The meals that arrived looked far from appetising. My husband’s fish was so overcooked it was chewy and the batter hard it was inedible and my chicken was not much better. When the lady came and asked was everything okay with our meals, most of the food was still sat on our plates and I told her no and why she proceeded to pick up our plates and walked off. No apology or anything and never came back. So I would advise anyone to avoid this place, awful inedible food and terrible customer service by some of the staff. Go elsewhere. I would recommend going to THE WELLINGTON in town. All freshly cooked food and no long wait, also staff are very friendly.

Visited twice on the trot. The food is typical pub grub nothing fancy but on each occasion the food was well cooked and served promptly. Second visit we were a party of 11 this did not cause a problem to the staff. Well done Monument

Food very average and service very slow and abrupt. Ordered via app. Waited 20mins and no drinks came out. Had to query staff and got abrupt answer that they were busy when in fact they were just serving people not using the app who were paying at the bar. Drinks came out wrong. Then told 45min wait for food so another 25min and food appeared 5 mins later?, Staff interaction really poor especially from the so called manager. Can’t recommend and won’t be going back anytime.

Don’t know what’s going on here food used to be so good. Maybe we picked the wrong meal but Sausage & mash looked a good option! Mashed potato was solid ,gravy you good slice out of the jug, & sausage? Well the outer casing was crisp and completely fell off the sausage when you cut it! Peas obviously been under a heat lamp as all blistered. Paper menus advertising food but couldn’t find a drinks menu. Every tv showing football and loud music on the top of it Why???? It’s Tuesday only people in were pensioners.

Great place to go for drinks. The have entertainment. Service is quick and they aren’t too expensive.

Visited Greene King @ the Monument pub in Hereford today . Fantastic set up , great front of house service , lovely food and well planned social distance . Ordered and paid by app, food and drink brought to table . Well done to Andrew and all his staff.

Such good food! Loads of it, piping hot when it arrives, wide range on the menu, and great prices. Premises are clean and tidy, and the staff are friendly. My only comment - please sort the pool table out. The cloth is terrible ;)

Having recently moved to Hereford and not knowing anyone, I popped here for something to eat! The food was outstanding and the bar staff so friendly it has now become a place a frequent! You can not fault this place for its atmosphere, food or staff! Absolutely flawless

We visit this pub around once a week to either have dinner or just a few drinks. I went there to watch the Wales v France six nations match on the weekend (I am Welsh) and to have some food at the same time. There are so many TV's in there no matter where you are you can see one so never missed a minute even when visiting the bar. The atmosphere was great with many fellow welsh supporters along with a couple of French and the neutrals. Shame about the result! The staff are always very polite even when they are very busy, flat out to serve at the bar and also serve food to tables. The food is always very good and there is never too long a wait for it to arrive even when its busy. The management team there run a great ship and the staff are a credit to them!

Went to the Monument on a busy Sunday, the service was brilliant by all staff. But one member that stood out was Connor he was so friendly and welcoming. Nothing seemed too much, real credit to the monument team.The food was fantastic we had 2 meals from the 2 for £10.99, excellent value for money and the quality was superb. We popped in for an impromptu family celebratory meal. Staff were courteous, food was amazing for the price. I had steak, and it was cooked to perfection, medium rare, just how I like it. Clean and tidy establishment. Can't fault it!

Visited on Sunday 23rd June for dinner. Not sure what was going on that night but the guy behind the bar was more interested in watching the cricket on the TV screens than serving us. We ordered four drinks and he kept on asking me to repeat what we wanted, I paid by credit card and he gave me a receipt. Later I came back to order our food paying by credit card again and when I asked him for a receipt he said he couldn't print one up after the account was closed. I know you can, guess he just wanted to get back to watching the cricket. I went to get the cutlery and there was no serviettes so back to the bar and this guy said they had ran out. What really annoyed me was when he said it wasn't his fault, well it certainly wasn't mine. But later I noticed that more serviettes were bought out so I guess he just really didn't want to be at work that night and did whatever he could to piss off the customers. Well I can tell you there are plenty more place in Hereford to go where they value their customers.

Popped in this evening with a few friends for some food and a couple of drinks, it was very busy inside. There were two staff members, a young male, possibly the manager, and young petit female who we couldn't fault. Their service was fantastic, even though they looked run off their feet. Still smiling and managing to have fun with customers. Food was lovely as always, but the service tonight was first class. Will definitely be coming back again!

After a bad customer service experience in June, we decided to revisit with some more colleagues and it was a brilliant visit. The waiters/bar staff and manager were very friendly and helpful, customer service was impeccable and as always, so was the food.

Came in a few days ago with a few mates. The new burgers are fab, had the Bombay Burger. Great value for money especially with the extra £1.50 a pint, definitely recommend. Great service from friendly staff, and the new range of ciders are a must try. Will be back soon!

Working in Hereford all day and walked 20 minutes to this place. Arrived at 8.55pm to be told by bad attitude staff that they had stopped serving. Greene King website said they served food until 9pm. Either the staff can't be bothered or Greene Kings website is wrong. Won't be back.

I often come here to have a bite to eat with the family, including children. Service is always good and food is usually pretty quick to be served and usually tasty and hot. The decor is clean, tidy and inviting. There’s plenty of room for bigger groups and they always have sports on many TVs dotted around the place which can pull quite a crowd. There are pool tables and a less formal seating area and a fairly sizeable garden area to the rear, as well as a welcoming patio area with heaters at the front.

Dropped in for a family meal. Has a nice relaxed friendly atmosphere. Could not fault the speed of service, from ordering drinks and how quickly the food was served. Bonus the food was also good.

Have visited the pub on a number of occasions with family and the food , service and staff has always been fantastic. I have also arranged to take my clients here for meals and they throughly enjoyed themselves and the staff have always gone the extra mile to make it special for them

As my local, came here on a Friday evening for a catch-up with a mate. I had the steak and ale pie and for two meals at £9.99 it was surprisingly very nice . The bar staff were lovely and the evening was very relaxing and enjoyable as a whole.

I came here for a couple of drinks and to watch the football and I wasn't disappointed. Very good food and a great atmosphere. My only criticism is that when I ordered my food and drinks at the bar. I was told to "hurry up" with my order by one of the ladies behind the bar which I thought was a little bit rude. She then continued to say "the kitchen won't be happy about this" under her breath as she put my order through the till. Despite having a rather rude member of staff, I enjoyed my evening and I'd happily go there again to watch another match.

Came here for Sunday dinner 20.01.19 food was great, we didn't mind waiting as it was very busy at the time. Staff are pleasant and polite, lots of choice of tv's if you want to watch the football. The chap who served us was helpful and polite.

Live a short walk from this pub. Took grandchildren there for tea recently. Nice clean venue, plenty of cosy seating areas, friendly staff - good food at a good price.

I have reviewed the monument before but thought it was worth doing another on the fantastic Christmas day lunch. There was 8 of us for lunch and the food came out all at the same time and was lovely from start to finish. Despite it being Christmas day the staff worked so hard to make sure everyone enjoyed there lunch and went home happy. Andy has a great team that always make you feel welcome whatever day it is. We came in to the Monument for Sunday lunch, they food was delicious, very good for the price (2 for 9.99). They services we have received was also very good, especially from Monika the waitres. She was very kind and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed, she also recommended what kind of gin I should have and it was delicious. I’d definitely recommend monument to my friends & family.

Me and my Wife came into the Monument Friday for some Food/Drinks. We are regulars here and we have never been disappointed, The staff are friendly and are knowledgeable with what they sell. One staff member always stands out when we come into the pub and his name is Conner he's always polite and always has a smile on his face.

Three of us had our evening meals here twice this week we received good quick and friendly service each time plus value for money between us we had 2 steaks; 2 Steak and Ale Pies; 2 Gammon Steaks; all very nicely presented and not bad to eat, plus they had Butty Bach draught Beer!!

Often visit the Monument for a meal and drink, every time the food is great and cannot complain. All the staff are lovely and very helpful especially Josh who has polite manners and is always a delight.

Wall-to-wall massive TV screens showing football! Burgers, pies, chips and nachos (not all on the same plate)! Lager, real ale, wines and spirits (not all in the same glass) What else could you possible desire at your friendly, reasonably-priced local??? Absolutely nothing!

Looking for someone reasonable to eat cane across the monument. Being greene king we knew the menu. Service was excellent and fast. Meal was far better than our local green king and nicely served. Very pleased and enjoyed. Recommended.
