Nicholson's. Fine, expensive at £6/pint, but where isn't? Good real ale choice, with a couple of locals.

Staying in Birmingham for the weekend. Came to this pub at lunch time menu looked good so went for a meal later on in the evening. Great staff all friendly and accommodating. Lovely building and atmosphere. Food was fantastic, recommend the lamb shanks hotpot and garlic chicken schnitzel. Reasonable price. Great garden. Will definitely come again.

Me and my fella went for a pub date. The interior is really nicely done out, traditional pub with an elegant twist. We were shown to our table on arrival by the friendly bar manager. We ordered the chicken and mushroom, and the fish pie, halloumi fries and brownie with ice cream. Food came in good time, and all was perfect, tasted fresh and was hot on arrival, only tiny minor critique was the broccoli was a bit on the salty side for me, but really everything else was delicious. Decent value for money as you could pay similar and get a boring, reheated pub lunch somewhere else. Save your money and come here instead. Our waitress and waiter were both very friendly, attentive and helpful. We'll be back again!

I hadn’t been in for years and thought I’d pop in for a quick pint before meeting friends. Good service at the bar but very busy, as it would be for a Friday night. Found a table in the back bar, which is clearly booked for 7pm - fine, it’s 5.30pm, I’m on my own and I’m only staying for one drink. Oh no, we can’t have that! Apparently the table is set for the later booking so literally nobody is allowed to sit there. Farcical. The only place I can find to perch with a drink is by the toilets as it’s raining outside. Lovely looking pub, service clearly lacking in common sense. Will not be coming back.

Food was tasty with generous portions at a reasonable price. Decent real ales and cocktail menu. Not earth shatteringly amazing but very happy, would go again.

We didn't eat here. This is a lovely trad pub which helps you quit smoking by making you want to sit and take in the superb interior. The beer was very good with a decent selection, though the chap serving didn't seem to be having the best of days. Not an issue, just not as pleasant as numerous others nearby.

Visit this pub and restaurant on a regular basis before concerts in the area.,lt never fails to deliver cosy busy pub , with excellent helpful staff and consistent quality of food and drink . This time Tori ( Victoria);looked after us made sure we were served quickly and efficiently so we could get to our concert in time, look forward to seeing you again soon .

Went in for a pint, it was fairly busy inside by the bar, didn't check the back garden. The atmosphere was ok and the tennis was just starting to I decided to stay for a bit longer. The staff always polite and helpful.

Visited here after going to the German Market and it was busy but we managed to find a table. The pies here are something else and you won't be disappointed they are delicious.

A great lil pub doing great beers! Had a pie whilst we were there which was great value for money. I ordered the pulled lamb Shepard's pie and the lamb was definitely more chunks but it was still super tasty! Friendly folk behind the bar too!

Their pies are epic and the carrots out of this world. Really good calamari and pulled duck croquettes for a shared starter for 3 of us. Staff really friendly and accommodating. Thanks for a fantastic meal!

Little gem just on the cusp of the city centre. Great beer and staff, nice outside area with screens for the footy.

As a solo diner it was lovely to have such friendly and helpful service. Wait staff were quick and the food was excellent. Loved the Mac and cheese with the garlic flatbread. Excellent value and would definitely return.

Absolutely fantastic pub! The food was superb. I had the steak and ale pie and it was delicious. Beer is great. I recommend the Nicholsons Pale Ale. 🍺 The girls behind the bar were great and really friendly. Football was on the telly too. Only thing I would say is that the men’s toilet door needs fixed as it’s missing from the cubicle but I’m sure that’s getting sorted.

Good beer and plenty of seating, shame not open later

We were in town for a birthday weekend and had been recommended this venue for lunch. As we were first to arrive in the city we decided to have Thursday night dinner to check the place out. The place itself is a strange mix of old fashioned style pub with sports screens and music, but a very friendly atmosphere. The meals we had on the Thursday were absolutely lovely, especially my fish dish. There was a great ale selection and the bar and waiting staff very friendly. We returned with friends on Sunday for lunch and attacked the pie menu. Again, the food was fantastic. We would definitely recommend this pub as a place to visit.

Excellent meet and greet , and we quickly established we needed to order food quickly,. The waitress serving us read nothing short of brilliant. She took a time of our need for departure and everything worked round that. I have to say no we are regular attendees but different names

Wonderful! Great beer, delicious food, beautiful design and very, very friendly staff. We came to Birmingham for one day and ended up visiting this place twice, for lunch and an evening pint and snacks. Wholeheartedly recommend (and have the plum porter and one of the pies!!!)!

Non male, se altrove avevamo solo bevuto, qui abbiamo anche consumato, un giovedì sera, in tutta calma. Un locale che abbina perfettamente le sue necessità (mangia & bevi) a quella più importante, lo star bene. Centrale ma non troppo, con possibilità di parcheggio nei dintorni, rappresenta un’ottima possibilità per un pit stop a pranzo oppure per una piacevole serata tra amici o colleghi.

Had a wonderful dinner with the friendliest service from Lizzie! Food was super delicious - the award winning steak pie as well as the fish & chips (plus scampi) were excellent. We also loved the sticky toffee pudding. Kids meals were a great value. Definitely a great place to hit up for some traditional pub fare!

Great experience as a whole, possibly the best pub in Birmingham due to the atmosphere, great staff and incredible food, will always be my go to whenever i’m in the area.

We were only in there for a few minutes whilst waiting for our transport to Bristol. It was quite busy and the atmosphere was welcoming.

Much improved here since the new management took over. Beers are well kept, food is good, excellent place for watching sports.

It's a nice little pub to visit. Good beers and plenty of spaces to sit. Only thing I haven't tried is the food which looks good. Maybe next time, I'll give it a try.

The food was delicious, I had a salad with salmon and halloumi, my partner had fish and chips which was very nice. It was a spontaneous stop as we were picking someone up from Birmingham. Would definitely recommend finding this pub and having food.

We liked the place. Not too loud, good food, nice garden.

Food was pricy for what you got and the quality of it, burger was okay I'm told by my burger expert grandson, I had Mac & cheese which for the price £12 was a fairly small portion, burnt around the edges, I don't mind crisp, but this was burnt and as a consequence the filling was dry with no unctiosness and the pasta was quite hard. I think I could have got much better meals for my £30. Very few others were ordering food I now know why.

Ryan and Iona are the best hosts and the staff are amazing. We were a table of 12 celebrating 2 birthdays. We were made to feel welcomed and everyone were so friendly and helpful. The food arrived quickly and hot, compliments to the chef. We will most definitely be visiting this lovely old fashioned pub again. Keep up the good work. Sharon and party.

I'd made a group booking for 20 people. We arrived later than planned for a few reasons, but the team at the pub were very accommodating and efficient. The food we had pre-ordered was bought out promptly and was hot and well presented. I'd like to pass on my thanks to the team for being so helpful

We just popped in on the off chance of some drinks and food before a concert this evening. The Inn is fantastic lots of local history and decor-toilets are spotless Service is fantastic-landlord we presume came to our table to take drink and food order-very attentive Food was amazing full of flavour, hot and fresh highly recommend If we come back to Birmingham for a gig and stay at the same hotel we will DEFINITELY return
