The Town House in South Ayrshire

if you are looking for well made home cooking at reasonable prices look no further than The Townhouse. Thursday is roast beef or roast lamb day and is the most popular day for lunch. My personal favourite is tattles and mince with vegs. Staff are very personable and attentive. they also do 2 course pensioners portions lunches from an extensive menu.

Visited today with my hubby. We both had the 3 course lunch today. Soup, Steak pie with potatoes or chips and veg was piping hot. My sweet was banana split, hubbies was apple pie and ice cream. Terrific value. Great quick friendly service. Will definitely be popping in again while in Prestwick.

Unfortunately we had to queue for a table and after about 15/20 minutes of queuing, we left and headed into Wetherspoons.

We are always totally satisfied with our meals out there. The food is excellent and the staff are so helpful and efficient. We have recommended it to friends and they have always been satisfied with their meals out there too. We take friends there when they come to visit from other places. Never disappointed.

Myself and my partner visited today. I opted for the Three course meal and my partner the two course. Both had Lentil soup followed by the Steak Pie and for pudding we shared the apple pie with custard. The service was excellent, Mary was very welcoming and engaged in conversation with us and was very attentive, can’t ask for much more than that. Throughly enjoyed our meal and will most definitely be back! Thank you.

Worth a five year update to my review. Nothing below has changed. Its my fave wee old school cafe. Its as real as your heartbeat. I'm not interested in chain cafes like Starbucks and Costa. This is where the souls of communites are. My favourite wee place to go when I am back in The Shire for a couple of rolls and slice and chips. It's a really old school tea room and restaurant/cafe in an era of homogenous boring franchise places. Support local. Pop in for a tea or coffee and breakfast or lunch.

Best ever home made food never leave a drop on my plate been in at least 5 times and standard of food has been consistent, and waiting staff friendly well done to the Townhouse great place 👍💐

Despite having to wait for a table it was well worth the wait. 2 course pensioner lunch was lovely. Steak pie and lentil soup. Our son got 2 courses for nine pounds fifty pence. Will definitely return.

On a visit from Glasgow , visited here for lunch and it definitely did not disappoint, the staff were lovely and friendly and food was excellent , thoroughly enjoyed it and would visit again xx

Went in whilst visiting Prestwick, what can i say? Me and my wife both had the pensioners special, the first one we have had!! And all.it cist was £6.00 each, we both had fish and chips, which was fine, then my wife gad trifle and i had ice cream. So we had two mains two puddings a pot of tea i also had a slice of bread and butter and the bill came to £15.00! Also very pleasant helpful staff.

First visit last month had the pensioner 3 course meal it was lovely you could see it was home cooking at its best and at only £7 each what a bargain. We were last to leave it closes at 3pm the lady gave me a bag with 2 home made donuts which were delicious. Visited on Monday 25th April as had a large breakfast at the hotel we were staying in just had tea and home made scones on this occasion which were lovely, will definitely be back.

We went and had a light lunch. Ordered chip roll, a bacon roll and side order of chips. With a pot of tea for 2 the cost was £17.25.

Consistently, delicious food served here in a lovely friendly relaxed manner. I had the pleasure of lunch again yesterday and a lovely young woman took our order. When I said I lip-read, she immediately pulled her mask down and remembered every time she came to the table....I felt valued as a customer and was able to understand her speech with little difficulty...please thank her again and for her kindness and understanding..many thanks for a terrific restaurant...😍

We’d probably have just walked past this place but an elderly relative we were visiting took us there for lunch. It’s brilliant! It was busy with many locals, like a community hub. Tasty home made style food. We enjoyed delicious steak pie and melt in your mouth apple pie. Staff very friendly and relaxed. Everything clean and properly thought through. Would definitely go again if we are in the area.

The menu gives a vast range of choice to suit all tastes and the food is excellent and always very tasty. The service is outstanding. This makes the restaurant very busy and you should book in advance if possible.

Fabulous wee place, staff are welcoming and the food is scrummy. Excellent value for money. Be sure to book as it can get busy.

Definitely one of the best cooked breakfasts you can get (along with many other meals) I had the full breakfast, 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon 1 fried egg, 1 potato scone, 1 half tomato, beans, toast and butter, pot of tea, all washed down with a glass of orange juice, truly delicious. Just a great wee restaurant and pleasant staff, my kinda music playing in the background (I'm of the older generation 😊) just excellent and cooked (grilled) to order... Happy Chappie...

Hi... Went here for lunch had the lasagne,salad and chips. Then could not resist the apple crumble, custard all of the above was delicious🤤 The only thing I could fault was the lack of choice of herbail teas but the lady who was serving was apologetic. Over all great experience and will be back the next time I'm in Prestwick.

Always first class and friendly staff

The Town House is always busy as it gives a combination of great service, very good food and great value for money. There is also very good parking round the back and a excellent taxi company within 10 yards of the entry door.

Always visit this place when in Prestwick visiting inlaws. Great little café food always hot & fresh. Always get a friendly welcome.

Traditional cafe in the high street where coffe, cake, soup and roll will cost you about 8 quid. No frills and friendly table service.

i visited this on a Sunday recently I know a good eating place when I see one the food is excellent and home made delicious staff were friendly and attentive good selection of a menu and reasonably priced will be back soon

You know a restaurant is good when it's constantly busy, and by god it was really good food,food is all homemade and fresh, reasonably priced as well, it's a hidden gem of a place, will Deffo return again,

Took my 80 year old Aunt for the day and we stopped here. Great, delicious, simple fare & as my Aunt said the best mince & tatties & rubbarb crumble she has had in many years. She ate everything on her plate. though she had to make it clear that it was 'nearly as good as she makes' so it must be delicious. I had the all day breakfast which was great as well. Staff were great - all in all you could not ask for more.

Used to eat here quite regularly but this was the first visit in a few years.

The town house is aimed at the older customer. I recently came here with my mother for a little walk down memory lane as we used to come here with my grandparents. The town house is reasonably priced with lovey staff and really nice well mannered staff. I will return

Very popular with older customers as it offers a more traditional menu. Dishes are well prepared but don't expect an upmarket experience. It represents good value and is usually very busy.

Sólo tenía una comida en la casa de Prestwick. La comida era casero y horneados y absolutamente deliciosa, mi marido tenía la steakpie y pareció realmente muy sabroso y abundante. Estoy gluten y tuvimos una preciosa ensalada fresca de pollo asado con todos los adornos en 5 libras, 50 por 2 campos (especial) fue titular de una fantástica relación calidad-precio. . Volveremos. We come here every time we're in Prestwick and it's the kids favourite restaurant. The staff are brilliant and the food is both excellent and reasonably priced. If you want a table one Saturday lunchtime you'd best book ahead. Traditional food done well.

You have to be lucky to get a table in here, which shows you how popular it is, especially with the older clientele. The food is very good and the prices reasonable, plus there are special meal deals for pensioners. Service is good considering how busy they are. We've never had a bad meal in here and the food is ( as far as we can tell ) all home made. One niggle is it's cash only, but once you know of that it ceases to be a problem.

Fantastic homemade food. I have been going to Townhouse nearly every week for years.My granddaughter says the burgers are the best ever. I have had most dishes and all are lovelyy. Staff are all so friendly and know exactly what you usually like.

My girlfriend & I visited with my Gran for lunch, its a really welcoming restaurant with really friendly & helpful staff, the food is excellent, the prices can't be beat & to top it off everything's fresh & its all homemade, I loved the mince & mash my Gran also highly recommends the steak pie! We will definitely be visiting again. :D

My wife and I popped in at lunch time . Had pensioner deal, absolutelysuper soup, lentil nice brown bread. I had just a sweet, deal was soup andsweet £3.95, wife had steak pie which was excellent. Had a pot of tea £11.15gives Wetherspoons a run for their money. This food is cooked fresh notPre cooked and reheated

The best all day breakfast in the West of Scotland! Staff are very friendly! We always go when we visit my Mum in Prestwick so much so that they know our order off by heart! Great value for money.

Have now been here three times and not been disappointed with the food yet. Tables are on the small side and there is not much room between them. It seems to a very popular restaurant as there is sometimes a short queue waiting for a table at lunchtime. It appears to be most popular with the elderly and I have yet to see a diner under 50.The food is excellent and the steak pie deserves a special mention. Most mains come with the option of potatoes or chips and vegetables or salad.Prices are very reasonable and there is a special two course lunch for £6.50. Portions are not large but are perfectly adequate.Staff are also mostly mature and they provide excellent service. There is also a take-away service available.Well worth a try for breakfast or lunch. I will be back.

Have visited the Town House often and they never fail to please.What could be described as "down to earth" but excellent value if you just want a good,well cooked bite to eat or mealWhat really sets it apart is the very fast and efficient service, for a reasonably small place the staff are outstanding - and not a teenager among them - in fact they would put some to shame.The food is well cooked and in particular the all day breakfast is great value for money, really cooked as requested just as you would make it at home in fact "home made" seems to be the best description here.Closes a bit earlier than most of the other eating places in Prestwick but by closing time, given the standard of food they provide they've earned the time to put their feet up.I expect the Town House would not appeal to the young Set, they don't know what they're missing - but try it the next time you're in Prestwick.

Have visited this place twice and both time the food was faultless. The lady waiting our table was very friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn't give it 4 stars was because one of the staff wasn't really that friendly and ignored me when I asked a question as we were paying. She wasn't very hospitable or welcoming. Apart from that it was nice

My cousin and I were lucky to get a table in this very busy spot. The food was very delicious and the service friendly. Our server, Chelsea was knowledgeable and attentive. I have never had a better steak pie in my life! Empire biscuit with a cup of perfect tea, crowned one of the best lunches I have ever had. I recommend this place to everyone! My Scottish Granny would approve!

I wish I lived closer to this little place as I would be there every week. The food is great, really tasty and amazing value, and the atmosphere is cosy. The staff are really friendly and efficient and I would recommend it at every opportunity. Really great.

An ideal place for simple "ordinary" food at a very reasonable price. The staff are friendly and helpful. This is a traditional, value for money restaurant which has no frills or expensive décor. Most of the customers who were there at the time of the review were in their late sixties - eighties, so it may not suit some younger folk. That said, they would be made welcome and made to feel at home.This isn't a place to go for a special candlelight meal, but is a place where good, honest, down-to-earth food is served.
