The Vaults in South Ayrshire

Walked in without a booking this evening. I’m working away from home so fancied something that didn’t involve chips. Reviews were ok and a few mentions of the steak pie. This is what I ordered with Potatoes and veg. Home cooked and very tasty and a complete bargain. Nothing fancy but I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you’re in the area it’s worth a look. I would definitely go here again if in the area.

Popped in for lunch with our wee dog. Was warmly greeted by staff and locals. Food was delicious would definitely recommend

We stopped by for a bite to eat on an early Sunday evening. This little eaterie is located just on the outskirts of Girvan Town centre on the main road, and we had no problem finding a car parking space on the street outside. The restaurant was small and intimate, with a romantic setting so ideal for couples. The ladies who served us were very friendly and accommodating, and as we were the only other couple in the restaurant, we were served immediately. We both had a chicken burger with bacon,mozzarella, and mayo. The burger was rubbery like it had been frozen, but the chips and salad were lovely. The prices were too expensive for the quality of the food at over £9 each, and we were charged £4 for two small glasses of coke, which was extortionate. Overall, our experience was disappointing and we will not be visiting again.

Brilliant atmosphere, friendly locals will definitely be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed my meal, the chef herself is a wonderful woman and the lady behind the bar was most welcoming to ourselves and our dog. A very relaxed atmosphere and I will certainly be back.

Second time I have eaten in this restaurant.. 1st time I thought it was a bad odour smell as it was busy but Second time I went same smell .. I would advise them to change the stair and hallway carpet sour smell lingering off it

Stopped in here on way back from Portpatrick we ate in the bar as we had our wee dog with us . Welcomed straight away , food and service were amazing and reasonably priced . We had salt n chilli chicken starters and the leek and potato soup , son had the macaroni , delicious , breaded haddock also lovely , burger and toastie everything lovely . Will definitely not be our last visit . Thanks for having us

I visit the vaults once or twice a month. Very consistent quality of food on the menu. Still no complaints from me

Delicious meals, good size portions

First class meal excellent service great value for money

Had read on a previous review that dogs were not welcome and had put us off going. We were also turned down food from the previous place we had visited. The Vaults welcomed us in 15 minutes before they stopped serving food and were more than dog friendly. We were welcomed to sit in the bar or beer garden with the dogs and we were looked after both us and the dogs the rest of the night. Food is very tasty, service was excellent, not one unfriendly thing in sight. HIGHLY recommended to anyone else visiting the area.

When arrived was told an average of 6 items not on menu I thought here we go take it or leave it decided to give it a try anyway. What can I say typical value pub grub. Partners soup potato and onion with dollop of cream on it turned the spoon upside down and soup stuck to it very gloopy their soupy. 🤢I had prawn tempura all batter no prawn inside it. Fish in breadcrumbs not up to much. Potatoes were ok. Veg most was ok except cabbage undercooked. Scampi was average like the stuff you get out freezer shop. Hand cut chips were dry and hard. I heard decent reviews about this place too maybe I’m just unlucky 🤢never even asked if our food was ok.

Had a wonderful meal here on Friday night whilst visiting girvan. Great pub food - my husband had the haggis pakora then the chicken goujons- I had the tomato soup then the scampi. All was cooked to perfection and served with a smile. We will be back and thank you ! X

Breaded haddock over cooked and it was so well done I had to cut away the outer edges to get to the fish - I think it might have come out of a box. The meal was served on a sheet of paper on a wooden board. If I had wanted fish and chips from a paper, I would have gone to the chippy - The Vaults was recommended to us - If they are considered the best, all I can say is there cant be much in the way of competition.

Really nice little place and the food was excellent good staff as well would recommend to anyone.

First time dining at the Vaults, the food was delicious the service was excellent and I would recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal in Girvan. There could perhaps have a few more choices on the menu.

Had spent the full day at Girvan golf course with a few mates popped in for our lunch then went back in the evening for Dinner highly recommended great service and excellent food worthy of five stars.

Biggest steak pie I have ever seen, and apparently it was very, very tasty too, but he wouldn't share!

The mac and cheese was very tasty and the chips were freshly cooked. The Haloumi burger was also good. The loos were spotless.

My family arranged a surprise 50th for me today but sadly one of my daughter's couldn't make it after spending weeks organising it 🥺 the staff at the vaults went above and beyond to help make her feel included in my special day and I am truly grateful! Great little pub. Nice atmosphere and the new beer garden out back has a lot of work out in it. I never had the food but it looked great. Nice staff clean and tidy. A jem in a little seaside town.

Meals was beautiful the only thing the tables was sticky need a good clean down but will be back again as we go down that way alot

We had a meal at the vault that we both enjoyed. Starters were nice and the steak pie and the cajun chicken are one of the nicest we have had in a long while. The restaurant has nice decor and the staff were pleasant. Cost wise I have no complaints. If the weather is nice there is opportunity to enjoy the beer garden if you get a chance.

What can i say we visited the vaults on the first night of our holiday and I can just say I've never come across such friendly and welcoming people in my life. What a great wee bar Doreen was lovely can't wait to go bk thank you for everything had a great time x

Great restaurant. Everything our party of four ordered was delicious and presented beautifully. We recommend the cream of veg soup, the haddock, and the sticky toffee especially. The staff were all delightful, and Tina even chatted with us and recommended a few stops for our trip. We hope to eat there again during our week stay nearby. It’s small and we lucked out by coming on a night that wasn’t busy, so a reservation would serve you well if it’s a busy night. (I loved the decor, too!)

Rather poor fayre. Starters were very small portions and I'd suggest not value for money. All patrons had a different main and we were all under impressed with quality and presentation of the meals. Staff were very nice and friendly, catered efficiently for us

Good quality, superb value and pleasant staff. £25 for 2 x main meals, large wine, pint of beer. Couldn't cook it ourselves for less. Fantastic and well done.

Was in with my husband and 2 boys on Sunday 4th August... We were 15 mins late.. And that was not a problem at all even though they had been mobbed all day... Food was delivered really quick... Really hot... Well presented and was very tasty... Staff were friendly.. Place was immaculate.. Nothing was a problem to staff... Definitely recommend this place 100 percent... And to feed a family of 4 consisting of 2 times 3 course meals a 2 times 2 course meals and drinks for 50 quid was the best 50 quid spent.... Il be back... And forgot to add... Its not cheap rubbish food it's all home made

Chicken strips delicious and macaroni to die for

Returned this year (June 2019) after visiting last year. Had the sunday roast beef lunch and have to say it was fantastic, top side roast beef with local home cooked vegetables followed by a sublime sweet. Very reasonable price. Having read some other reviews I am glad they do not allow dogs into the restaurant part.Recommend this place 100%.
