Massive disappointment. For so many years this was my absolute favourite destination; a great blend of style and reliable cuisine. But now. .. OMG how things have changed. The welcome was as charming as ever, the room as gorgeous and elegant as before, the service impeccable but the food ... WHAT HAVE THEY DONE ????? I ordered a Weiner Schnitzel with a side of Sauerkraut (which the waitress correctly said could be added from the Choucroute) but what arrived was a tiny thin frazzled bright orange piece of tasteless something. And the Sauerkraut was massively over salted with suspicious flecks of carrot embedded into it - as though it had been rescued from some leftovers. Horrible, horrible horrible. Previously the schnitzel was thick and juicy and generous. This time it could have come straight from a freezer. And the bill? £126 for two with no starter, no wine and no deserts. That is quite simply a massive rip off. This place is no longer worth any loyalty and will only survive on its reputation and vast number of tourists who don't mind what they eat as much as where they eat it. Interestingly there were so many empty tables that it seems many of its previous local base have abandoned it for newer places that actually CARE what they are serving.

Came here for pre-theatre dinner so it was an early dinner. Food - 10 out of 10; Service - excellent. We are very specific about noise level - at the beginning the large room was a bit echo-y, as some of the afternoon tea people left, it improved. But overall, as someone who eats out fairly frequently this absolutely met my expectation. In particular, I felt the food quality matched up to its price tag.

Lovely place, lovely service, but considering the full English is £24.50 you would expect it to include toast. Being asked what toast I’d like when I ordered it, then subsequently being charged an extra £3 did mean I left the place annoyed after what was otherwise a lovely meal. Just include it in the full English price and avoid the issue.

Great lunch with friends. Had the fish of the day, bream with spinach , cherry tomatoes and French beans. The food was tasty but the amount of vegetables was very small. The service was attentive. Disappointing that this iconic British institution does not have a British ale on the menu, Come on Wolseley, support the Great British Brewer and the guests something that is truely British .

Loved the Wolseley. It was absolutely packed yet the service remained on point. We had a lovely waitress who was attentive, really lovely and friendly. Our food was delicious especially the Hake. Rated 4 stars though because the Flat Iron Steak was a rather chewy and bland in flavour, the new potatoes were way too salty and the green beans a bit too overcooked so slightly on the mushy side!. However the rest of the meal was lovely. We had goats cheese & asparagus tart and ham hock terrine to start. Complimentary bread with the best most delicious butter!! The Hake was fish of the day and beautifully cooked and served on stunning mushroom base. Couldn’t fit in a dessert but we were surprised with amazing macarons as a complimentary anniversary treat. Would definitely go again. £140 (2 starters 2 mains 2 cokes pot of tea double espresso and service charge)

The scones were fantastic. The canapé were good. 2 of the 7 desserts were excellent. The others were just okay. We were not asked if we wanted another serving. We had to search/make eye contact to get a waiter to come over for more tea. Couples sitting on either side of us were served/ received and seemed to be getting a different level of service than us. Dress the part get better service was the impression I got. Overall, it was a nice experience to have high tea in London. It was a bit pricey, and the lack of service diminished the experience. Research other places and then decide.

We chose the fixed menu, but I don't think we should have done it. We booked this tea a couple of months ago based on all the hype. We have travelled to London before and had afternoon tea at The Dilly, Browns, and The Beaumont... I was looking forward to visiting as I love breakfast, and The Wolseley is a bit of a breakfast icon. However, I was disappointed. The food was ok, but nothing too special. My coffee was lukewarm. Two small pieces of toast arrived to accompany the main breakfast. There was more butter than toast! The service was fine but not friendly. I was left with the impression that we were not wanted. Of course, being a Brit, I did not complain and paid the hefty service charge. However, I will not go again for breakfast.

Beautiful building and “storied” restaurant. Food and service is poor. My server was unfamiliar with the menu, which reflects poorly on the management, not her, but she also poured wine into the water glass at the table next to me, so maybe a combo. There is a 2.50 service charge, that isn’t made clear in the booking form, so by the time you’ve seen it on the menu, you’re already sat at the table and it’s too late. There is also a 18+% service charge, which is really just The Wolseley being greedy on top of their exorbitant (even by central London standards)…there was no service to speak of. I had been looking forward to this and am searching for something positive…I guess the building is nice. Avoid—you can make a better schnitzel at home and not have a coverage charge or water in your wine. There are much better restaurants at a better price (and no cover charge) in central London.

A VERY DEPRESSING DINNER !! I haven't been to London for over 3 years now and the Wolseley used to be a great place to dine at that I always wanted to visit when in London. So I decided to do so this time although I did not have a reservation. I walked in 6pm, asked for a table for 1 for dinner, it all started with a cold reception, no smile, no welcome to the Wolseley, etc and then I was seated in the small dinning area to the left of the entrance (even though the restaurant was fairly empty) which is usually used for those having afternoon tea or just patisserie. After being seated for more than 10 minutes unattended, I had to wave to the waiter to be given a menu. The waiter looked depressed, very unhappy and didn’t smile at all. By this time, the table next to me occupied by a couple who had the “afternoon tea” set was vacated, it took the waiter more than 50 minutes to clear/clean that table. I ordered the chicken soup followed by the calves liver with a side of mash potatoes as well as carrots & parsnips, and also a glass of Rioja. The atmosphere was starting to weigh in me, no attention at all, sad & depressed staff arguing with each other … I was served my soup, plate was cleared by a sad robotic waiter who did not communicate at all not did he ask me “how was your soup”. Another 10 minutes went by and by this time, the whole experience was getting on to me. I was then served the main course by another unhappy and non smiling waiter, the main course was warmish rather than hot obviously from sitting for a while in the kitchen. I started eating but by this time I had lost my appetite by this entire experience and depressing atmosphere. Less than half way through the main course, I decide to leave. I paid the bill of £94.15 using the scanner on the table and then left. The staff saw me that I was leaving, saw that I hadn’t finished my dinner, and yet I walked as if I had never been there. This is by far one of the most unpleasant restaurant experiences I have ever had.

The serving sizes were well proportioned and the settings and interior were beautiful. The atmosphere could be a little frosty at times, but I think that might have been because we went with a prepaid meal voucher that was won in a raffle and we aren't exactly like their usual clientelle. A meal for 4 ended up costing around £250 without the voucher and I would say that for the quality of the food and service in the restaurant that was well spent. Me and a friend stoped by here for a quick lunch on Saturday. We ordered 2 bowls of soup, while we sat there we had our glasses of water refilled once the entire time we sat there. We were there for around an hour and a half and sat with empty glasses. I understand that it was busy so I was okay with it once we finished our soup we ordered a creme brûlée. While we were waiting for it to come out we decided to pay our tab through the QR code on the table. We sat there for around another 30 minutes eating our dessert then decided to head out. As we were leaving we got stopped by one of the staff. They thought we were dining and dashing and stopped us without confirming that we had paid the bill. Which we payed a full 30 minutes prior to us leaving. I’m not sure if it was cause we looked young or anything but our total bill didn’t come out to more than £40. It was incredibly embarrassing getting stopped on the way out. Either way it just ruined the whole experience and I don’t think I would come again.

They kindly moved us to a better table when we asked at the start of our experience. That was generous. After that we waited 20 min to have the waiter to get our order. And another 25 to get the food. Our booking was at 12 and we received brunch at 12:45. No bread and butter in the meantime. The Bloody Mary’s were only super spicy with average body and consistency. My friend ordered Severn & Wye oak smoked salmon which came as a very thin and flat layer with a piece of wrapped lemon on it with two very thin and elegantly small buttered slices of soda bread. I am sure it was supposed to be minimalistic and elegant but ended up looking very depressing. My other friend ordered a small steak tartare with a small egg - nothing elegant to mention here - and I ordered Eggs Benedict. Nothing to die for. No personality. The only surprisingly good food were the French beans. The place was noisy, the waiters distracted, the experience average. Not as I remembered it

Always love having tea here when we visit London! They let us take scones to go and we always love them just as much the next day.

My partner and I had breakfast. It was more than breakfast, it was a breakfast experience. I had a cafe creme with a pain au raisin followed by the haggis topped with duck eggs and a whisky sauce. It was sublime. My partner had the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs- which was superb. The Wolseley is beautiful, elegant and yet comfortable. The staff friendly, attentive and professional. It did seem that our waitress was slightly distracted for a while, and there was a period when we were trying to subtley attract her attention, but to no avail, as she seemed completely engrossed in a protracted whinge to one of her colleagues. I'd still thoroughly recommend residents and visitors to London, to make a reservation and see how breakfast should be done. I'll definitely be back to experience the Wolseley at other times of day

99% of the time it is splendid! Today we weren't lucky with the staff. Maybe they didn't like the stairs 😅

The staff was not polite ( there was an older woman who served our table for dinner and she was arrogant and had no patience at all to answer questions related to the menu - as I have food restrictions) For a restaurant that charges 15% of service charge this is completely unacceptable. We’ve been to this restaurant on many occasions and never had this type of treatment before. Very disappointed with tonight’s experience.

I tried their Egg Florentine, I wouldn’t say it’s the best I had. Yet I’m planning to come back again and try their famous cream tea!

Food is always good at the wolseley with a great selection. Sometimes when it’s busy you lose an element of service but overall it’s a lovely place to eat, a menu that suits everyone and always a lovely welcome.

Our two main dishes, both fish, were highly oversalted and almost inedible.

Fukin racists… the waiter was so rude to me. feeling really uncomfortable here I paid 84p for being discriminated :) they won’t even let me finish my words when taking the order. I’m not native speaker but I am not retarded… so don’t interrupt me...
