Superb food and friendly staff. The only warning I would give is be hungry when you visit. The portion sizes are big, and very tasty. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Turkish eatery, loved it. Food was most delicious, good lentil soup, excellent grilled chicken pieces with rice and salad, and complimentary bread, all fantastic.

Food was asking as was the atmosphere. The Turkish owner came over to ask if everything was ok. Highly recommended this restaurant

The taste and service are excellent. We ate kashar pita and cubed pita. While we can't always find such good pita even in Turkey, the food in York surprised and pleased us. The owner is also very friendly and welcoming, thank you.

Food was amazing!!!!! I have vengan and vegetarian food and the taste was great. My friends ordered meat and also mentioned that it was amazing. The waiter was very welcoming, useful providing some suggestions and checking if everything was ok when food arrived. For the quality of the food and the quantity the prices were also good.

Fabulous lamb! Lovely service, reasonable prices and wonderful flat bread. A must try if in York.

I never thought I could find pita bread in England, especially in York. Plus some tea. Pita, grilled meatballs and lamb skewers were extremely successful.

We visited Yakamoz on Monday 12th February 2024, and what a wonderful experience we had. We sat near the rear of the restaurant and could see the chefs creating all the dishes fresh and had several lovely conversations with the head chef and owner, whom was only to happy to reccomend dishes for us. The food was divine, the service was excellent, wine also excellent, a lovely atmosphere created by an owner who cares and made our dining experience wonderful. We will definitely be returning soon. A mediocre restaurant. It smells bad inside. After the waitress takes the bill, she checks with her voice to see if the money is real. It was a complete disappointment for us. I would never choose again. The 50 pound meal cost for 2 people is also very high. It is not a place with the quality of classic Turkish restaurants.

Portions was small but can't complain

we were looking for a nice halal restaurant when we came across YAKAMOZ. ordered three dishes. the mixed grill was ok . and Ali Nazik was nice but the curry with meat was flat . Home chips were nice . and ..... its very expensive .

Had dinner here in York this evening. Food was a good portion however the flavour was mediocre. The customer service experience in particular was extremely poor. We booked a table specifically for 6pm and at 6:45 we were suddenly told that the “Chef” needs the table back for the next booking and we were very rudely told that we had to leave as soon as possible. We had literally just finished our mains and were about to order tea. I have not experienced this in any other restaurant in my life. Other Turkish restaurants are always much more respectful and have better quality food. I will not be returning and do not recommend you visit this restaurant, there are many better places to go out for dinner in York where you feel more valued and have a much better experience.

Was looking for a place to eat and the frontage to this restaurant immediately piqued my interest, it was fun looking and the menu displayed looked good. We were not disappointed, the service was great, food was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely too. Would recommend and will visit again when in York.

We had a delicious meal at Yakamoz. It was a very busy Saturday shopping day outside, and we spontaneously walked in, but they fitted us in and we were served and fed very efficiently. We both ordered the vegetarian Imam Biyaldi, which was delicious - rich, deep aubergine flavours and great bulgar and wild rice sides. Very Friendly staff. Recommend!

Chose this place at random for lunch and delighted that we did! The service was friendly and informative, happy to discuss the dishes and make recommendations. We ordered a pide (like a long pizza made with feta and mozzarella - delicious!) and three mezze dishes which were all excellent - the satsuka was superb. You should try this place!

Pre booked a table for a friend

I am a fan of Turkish cuisine and I have tasted it in many countries, however the experience in Yakamoz was beyond any word, the food was 100 out of 10, all the meat even the chicken was prepared perfect, and was not dry at all. Simply even the rise was cooked perfectly. The stuff offered us the tea as a compliment for free. Very helpful and lovely personnel. Hardly recommend.

Great food, I recommend the grill mix, everything is fresh. The service and decor are first class.

Visited here last year and enjoyed it, so it was a no brainer for where we was going to eat this time around. Great service and welcoming staff, gotta love the manager, top guy he is. Food is excellent and reasonably priced.

Authentic Turkish food run by a very good team of Turkish staff. We had grilled meats and a Turkish casserole, and baklava for pudding. Awesome.

First time visit , Food was good . We had mix grill . However, we felt not welcomed. We had a double pram, were told to sit at the back , they chose a table immediately near the kitchen. We preferably to stay by the windows, we felt urged to finish our lunch and leave .

We were looking for somewhere to eat on a Friday having just arrived on our holiday. Whilst looking at the menu we were invited to come in and enjoy the food. I am so glad we did. The service was fast, friendly and attentive. The food was very tasty and we both enjoyed it tremendously. Recommended if you're looking for a change. Once you have tried it I'm sure you'll be back. The mixed grill and mini mixed grill were fabulous but so much was on offer it was difficult to finish.

My wife and I had an excellent dining experience here. We followed the owner’s recommendations and were not at all disappointed. I asked what the difference was between the rice and bulgur wheat alternatives offered with my meal and got a brief history of the importance of bulgur wheat in his cultural background and a sample to try. I went with the bulgur wheat.

Great lamb, you can see that the chef knows what he's doing. Very good lavash as a starter. The portions are huge, so you better be careful when ordering dessert (which the staff fortunately informs you about)

I would highly recommend this lovely little restaurant to anyone who would like a really delicious Turkish meal, I’ve eaten there twice now and really cannot fault it. From the delicious complimentary freshly baked flatbread and spicy dip to the wonderfully sticky Baclava and ice cream for dessert and everything in between is delicious and very fresh with generous portions and lovely staff too. We had a birthday celebration recently there and all 6 (foodies with high standards!) of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal. We will be back! 😀

Lovely Turkish place with a good ambience and amazing food . We ordered the cheese pies and the Moussaka. They were delicious . Their desserts sounded delightful, but we had no room for it unfortunately. Definitely recommend it.

Lavash and pide dough is on another level. Patlican salata (smoked aubergine in garlic Yoghurt) is delicious. Really worth visiting more than once! x

This place is closed for refurbishment. Had tried to book a table on-line but didn't get a reply so went to the restaurant this afternoon to confirm and saw the closed sign. Why can't you show this on your website? I can't really review food etc so my rating is for poor communication.

Some very basic mistakes. Iskender kebap is never done with meat balls (especially very salty ones). Although initially given free in small amount for a table with 4 guests, bread is a part of the meal and does not usually cost 3 £ when requested more. Bulgur and şiş kebap is at average performance.

I absolutely love this hidden gem in York. I've been here three times in less than six months and can't shout about it enough. The food is phenomenonal, authentic, packed with flavour, so fresh and good quality, filling, excellent portions, and very well thought out menu. I really recommend this place and try something new and be wonderfully surprised with a new favourite restaurant. You can't go wrong here. They're veggie friendly too. But if you love meat or are a foodie, go here now!!
