ZAAP Thai Street Food in Leeds

It made me feel like I was in Thailand! Great atmosphere! Friendly and helpful staff. Such a good choice of food!!

Food is so close to real Thai food. But the portion of the food is not enough for an adult.

I normally have the same thing ; Pad Prik Gang - seafood. Normally it is very nice and good value for money. Yesterday , 19 April 2024, my food was very over salted. I left most of it .

We had a large table for a staff outing. Service was super fast and friendly. Less than £200 for 9 of us to be very well fed and drinks too!

Ordered the sweet and sour, this had a very watery source and was disproportionately portioned with too much sticky rice and not enough meat, pineapple or veggies.

Staff were really nice, great atmosphere in here as the place is quite open with noise. Food of course was lovely, my entire group were happy

I had dinner with my boyfriend today and everything was so amazing. I had stir-fried morning glory with crispy pork, the pad see eiw with beef, spicy noodles soup, and Thai iced tea. The service there was very lovely :D

Superb Thai food in a vibrant if slightly quirky setting really feels like your in the streets of Thailand. The food is always quick well presented fresh and absolutely delicious and very very reasonably priced. Love it. And bonus ball some of the friendliest restaurant staff in the city centre

It was my second time at zaap and first time in Leeds. Must say food was good and flavour full. Best part was mango sticky rise at the end.

Walk in here with a large group early evening after work, very well looked after and seated us closely together. Excellent food as always. We had a couple of Leeds locals who had never been before and Thai food fans, no one disappointed and all 16 of us had praise for the place. This place is to be congratulated

I had a takeaway for vegan pad Thai noodles with tofu as plant based protein. The service was pretty quick. The hospitality was welcoming and as this was my first time trying new cuisine, they were happy to find me the right dish of what I was looking for. Plenty of vegan alternatives for mock meat ranging from prawn to chicken.

Buzzing atmosphere. Went at about 6pm on a Saturday and without reservation only had to wait about 10 mins for 4 of us. Food was great, nice drinks and good value.

- Nice food & atmosphere (Halal chicken & seafood) - Wouldn't recommend 2022 Soup of the Year, hated it - Other food I tried was very nice - 99% staff were polite - Moody staff member (short old lady) killed the mood - Optional service charge is automatically applied to bill

Pad thai is too wet Thai green milk tea tastes a bit fake But the less spicy tom yum is the most recommended

Good food, brilliant atmosphere, prompt service

I love this place. Cost adds up quickly because there's so much to try. Food quality is great, the layout of the restaurant is so unique. There is nothing I've not loved at Zaap.

When we were about to ask the waiter for a small bowl, the waiter brought it to us automatically. Usually when you take your children out to eat, you have to ask the waiters and they will give it to you. So I feel this one is more considerate.

The food here is great and always is great. The service is brilliant. They are very fast and efficient, especially for how busy they are. Our server was lovely and well informed on the menu. My only issue with this place is the fact they fry all of their foods together and it is not widely advertised. Apart from a small section on their extremely busy menu. I went there, because I was told it was halal. I wanted to order a prawn starter, but luckily found out they fry all of their prawns with other meats including pork, which put me right off. I’m sure this would be a concern for pescatarians and vegetarians alike. There is no issue with them doing this if that’s how they wish to run their business, but please, when you have customers who are after halal food, inform them of this, or at least make it slightly more obvious on the menu, as it’s a packed menu and difficult to read.

Such a variety, and a really interesting place with the decor. Will definitely be back.

Highly recommend refusing to visit this Thai restaurant! At the checkout this restaurant actually pencils out the "optional" in the optional service charge option, a tactic used by the restaurant to deceive new customers. Even though most of the food was tasty, it still didn't stop the restaurant from cheating its customers. When we asked why the optional choices were crossed out, I was told that it was a rule of the restaurant. When we asked for the rule to be brought out and the manager called to the table to ask about it, they admitted that they could waive this service charge for us. So do not recommend travelling to this restaurant if you are willing to pay your money for the sake of cheating.

Been to this restaurant on numerous occasions with family and friends, and everyone has always had a brilliant time. With a large menu there really is something for everyone and they have a great selection of vegetarian and vegan options as well. The interior of the restaurant really brings you to the streets of Bangkok and adds a real vibrancy to the restaurant. The staff have always been lovely and really sweet.

The atmosphere here is incredible, and the design of the venue is so authentic. We came in on a busy Friday night as a two and joined the queue of some larger families waiting to be seated - even though we came into a very busy environment quite inconspicuously, we were greeted straight away and seated. The service is super fast and friendly - our food came out in less than 15 minutes! Everything was piping hot and fresh, and there were loads of vegan and veggie options. The best place in Leeds for Thai food! 🤤

Called in on a Friday about 1.30pm and had no problem getting a table for two despite it being quite busy, our food was good & delivered quickly. We've been three times previously and always enjoy coming back 👍

They served halal options menu. Chicken and Seafood. Another option if you craving for Thai food in Leeds.

Tried crispy tofu bao bun and pad kee mao. The bao bun was disappointing, it was mentioned that it had a spice level of 3 but I couldn't taste any hint of spice.. however the pad kee mao was really delicious. The service was really bad, we had to wait about 10 minutes to place an order and get a check in the end and it was really hard to find someone who'd man the tables. Maybe online ordering or buzzers would help when there's such huge crowds..

Impressive. Really fast service and staffs are all friendly. Thai sauce is superb and foods are delicious. Would highly recommend.

Grabbed a quick take out here passing through Leeds, and it was superb! Really fantastic food (drunken noodles) at a very reasonable price. Will definitely stop by to try a few more bits from the menu if I’m local again in future.

Staff and food amazing here. I would recommend going at a quieter time for example a weekday evening as they do not take bookings and bring a big crowd!

We went past this place several times and every single time it was heaving. We decided to give it a go and were not disappointed with our decision. Even though it was busy we were seated reasonably quickly. Our order was taken promptly and arrived shortly after our drink order which was a nice surprise considering they were still busy. The food was nice and tasty and the price was reasonable. All around it was a very positive experience.

this place is absolutely amazing, me and my parent have gone here twice now and every time we are more satisfied than the previous visit. the atmosphere is incredible and the services are very welcoming. only waited like 20 minutes for the food and I felt like I died and went to heaven every bite I took. anyway, we did feel a little rushed because the main and starter came out at the same time but I completely understand that. It's good food and I'm not going to diss being slightly rushed

Absolutely delicious, came so quickly yet was cooked to perfection, buzzing atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff ! I don't know how they do it with such a big restaurant, it's amazing! Never been before but will definitely be back, even the pricing is very good! I'm an ecstatic customer!

Food OK but I didn't know that "optional service charge" just becomes compulsory nowadays... When asked for the bill, the waitress came to our table, put the bill on the table but I didn't even have time to look at it that she already has preset the card reader to the total amount of the bill, amount that, of course, included this "optional" 10% for the service. My mistake, I should have told her to wait for me to scrutinise the bill beforehand. On the top of that I gave them extra for the tip, naively thinking it wasn't included... I'm very annoyed with myself right now.

Really great place, would go back. Food all looked really good and they had plenty of options for different diets, and price was fair. Food arrived very quickly but took a while for our order to be taken- they were very busy though so don’t hold that against them.

The food here is amazing. We love this place!! The service is excellent.

After using Google maps to map out some fooderies near the First Direct Arena in Leeds, we came across this one. After navigating to it, very easy, we waited in the queue; given a menu outside as it was SO busy and it was only 5:30pm! We didn’t wait long as there were only two of us, and we whizzed in! We had a satay and Thai prawn cracker starters: were nice! No pics though. My husband wanted bao buns, so as we hadn’t had lunch, we had one each! He loved the duck one and I had the satay one (pic). For our main, he had 75A a spicy sweet and sour chicken meal and I had Penaeng (31). We asked for a recommendations as I love the aromatic flavours of Thai food and I love the flavours in a proper Pad Thai. Absolutely incredible, and a really good amount of chicken. I have recommended to all my friends if they visit Leeds. 🙂 Really good vibe and atmosphere; staff couldn’t be more helpful!

Great place to go for food with a group of friends. Excellent food and great service. Will definitely be coming again. It does get busy though so be prepared to queue for a few minutes.

I arrived at 21.32 tonight asking for a table for 1, for just a quick bite to eat. The restaurant was still buzzing with diners and I was asked to leave because last orders had been done in the kitchen. The restaurant closes at 22.00! Staff would rather go home early than take my money. So I went right opposite to Thai Aroi Dee restaurant, which was fantastic!

Such a diabolical rude service and nothing special about the food. I wouldn’t eat here again if they paid me to go. They were happy to let us in quite late in order to take our money, but they brought all the food at once and were really rushing us, despite the fact there were plenty of other diners in attendance. Money is all that is on the agenda at this place. There are much better options for both food and service directly opposite. The best part about it was sitting in the Tuk-Tuk. It’s a shame we didn’t get long to sit in it.

Authentic Thai cuisine, great atmosphere

My second time at Zaap and was another great experience. Really cool atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Only thing is the menu was a bit hard to follow in terms of how it was set out.

Quirky little Thai joint with great interior and service. The Red Thai curry was very disappointing, the chicken was extremely hard and chewy but the flavour was spot on.

Food was incredible, reasonably priced and the staff were great - going above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. Lovely atmosphere and great to be able to see the kitchen in action. Will definitely be returning!

All in all, decent Thai food with a great range of choices. Price is slightly pricy end considering the food portion. The interior deco takes you straight back to Thailand. Great atmosphere.

Great food at very fair price in a traditional atmosphere. You can’t book in advance though so be prepared to wait but seems to move quickly

One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in ages. They do loads of curries with this isn’t chicken and are made generous with the amount of pieces they include. Super creamy curry, friendly helpful staff.

The atmosphere is just like a street food restaurant in Bangkok, with an emphasis on the combination of street and formal interior design. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes, and I enjoyed both the flavors and the way it was served. The staffs are incredibly hardworking and exceptionally friendly and polite as well.

The spice was on point 👌 The hustle & bustle of the place takes you right back to the streets of Thailand. The staff are so friendly and service is quick. Walk in on Monday and the restaurant was full. Very popular!!

Great atmosphere, lots of people and the setting was feel like Thailand street food. However the taste was disappointing. Menu was difficult to read. We ordered 3 dishes but didn’t eat much. The seafood curry was a bit watery, squid was chewy, the roast pork wasn’t tasty. Only the vegetables were quite good, we finished this dish.

I'm a student. Yesterday was my first day in England. My friend introduced me to this restaurant and I went there last night. As I was leaving, the clerk suddenly chased me out, and it turned out that my wallet had fallen out and I hadn't noticed that there was all the cash I had on me. I was so shocked that I didn't thank him properly, so I'm writing this comment. Hi, although I don't know your name, I really appreciate you. Thank you soooo much and hope you have a nice day!! As for the taste of food, each course was very much to my liking and although it took 20 minutes to queue, it proved to be worth it.

Excellent food. The issue I had was that I had take away and the portions were fairly small for the cost.

Everything was great. The food was wonderfully flavourful and well presented, the servers very kind and polite, and the atmosphere had a very Thai street vibe. No wonder it was so crowded! One of the best places in Leeds.

Never had a bad meal here. The food always arrives promptly once you order. They also do some decent cocktails like the Tued Tued.

A The Place to go for food! Everything was great from the drink up to ice cream! Great food, drinks, desert, atmosphere and very attentive staff. Very authentic, ruts of flavours! We will be certainly back!

Not my usual go to for food but went on a works do, they were so accommodating given no booking and large group. Service with a smile the whole time, food was delicious I shared starters and a main. Great atmosphere too. Definitely recommend and great with allergen info too.

Such a nice place and amazing food!!!!! Had just a sudden crave for prawns so my friend suggested to go to this amazing restaurant. Such an amazing experience, food was great. Had Prawns dim sums , breaded prawns , fishcakes , 2 mains with prawns and squids and 2 mocktails and spent around £65, totally worth it considering the ambience(it looks like to be in Thailand 's streets). Can't say much about staff because we sat outside(brilliant idea as weather was just perfect) and they were really busy too. But the few interactions we had they all were been kind and helpful. Must try , at least once......

Food was great and came super fast, staff were super nice and the milk teas were good. We got the Bangkok Platter, and weren't disappointed. Chicken satay was good, the spring rolls were nice and the fish cakes (although maybe a little bland if I'm being picky) were very nice. Would definitely go back, the atmosphere was great and I loved the design of the place. Some of the desserts looked amazing too! Overall it cost around £25 for the platter and 2 milk teas, so not too bad in price.

Great Thai restaurant in Leeds City centre. There is a wide menu of authentic Thai food, all explained on the menu for newbies, like me. Service is friendly and efficient, and there is a nice buzzing atmosphere in the restaurant. The food is delicious and looks great. I can't wait to go again and choose a different dish. You can't book here, so you may queue at busy times. There's also outside seating and tables, if the weather is good.

I had a pork skewer starter that was tasty and sufficient. I followed this with the mixed seafood dish with mussels, prawns and squid. The seafood portions were generous and beautifully cooked. It came with fluffy jasmine rice and it would have benefited with an additional sauce. My first crack at Thai Street food and I would certainly go back. The staff fly about like little ants delivering their steaming platefulls.

Second time coming here. Ordered a couple of Baos, mains, and still fancied dessert after. Food was excellent. The battered banana with ice cream was very nice for dessert. Spent almost £60 for the two of us, which isn't bad for the amount of food we had. Only negative was the aircon seemed to be set quite cool and was blowing right down my back. It was warmer outside (and it wasn't a hot day).
