BaoBun Deluxe in Belfast

We went here for the first time tonight & I was very impressed, the food was incredible, the restaurant was immaculate & the two girls behind the counter were lovely & sooo helpful!! Will deffo be back 😊

BaoBun was my favourite takeaway on the east side, the staff they had was great, easy to chat with and I looked forward to going in, then they tried the resteraunt thing and I couldn't get my order for a while, but thankfully they've reverted back to the good ole days, just with my order being one £1 more expensive haha

So it turns out that Bao buns and dressed fries are the perfect lunch! Teriyaki beef brisket Bao and kimchi fries really hit the spot! My daughter had crispy chicken Bao with katsu curry fries and she loved them. The Bao buns are so soft and everything is fresh and tasty and the service is really good. I totally recommend it!

Some menu items were a hit, but others very disappointing. The scotch egg was well received and cooked perfectly with runny yolk. Pho recipe at this restaurant is very different to what I have ordered at Botanic. My pho was unmistakeably made with a beef OXO cube and not a bone broth. It felt like a step backward compared with the rest of the carefully prepared dishes.

We decided to give bao bun deluxe a try and we are so glad we did. This is a relatively new sit in concept from their other branches . The interior was modern and very chilled. Nice atmosphere. We decided to order two bao buns each and three sides. The quality of the meat was brilliant. We had chicken, beef and duck bao. My hubby had a side of chicken wings - this was a great portion and he absolutely loved them. I had the chicken satay skewers. I love satay and this was one of the best I’ve had. The satay sauce was thick , creamy and really peanutty. The bao buns themselves were so soft , fresh and light- you can tell they are fresh and homemade. The fillings were delicious. We shared a katsu fries which were also yummy. They were making up fresh cocktails which we didn’t try but any going past us looked good! Staff were friendly, efficient and good chat. Overall a great experience and we will happily return and recommend to friends. It’s not posh or pretentious- it’s good quality Asian food. There were vegetarian options available on the menu also. Give it a try if you love bao !

A bit different to typical BaoBun spots as they is a set menu with waiters and it serves alcohol. Lovely interior -very clean- with great music (not too loud either). Fast service and my family had a really lovely waitress who dealt with our customisations really well and asked questions to make sure we got what we wanted. We all had the crispy chicken and asked for it over the spiced fries instead of on a Bao bun and it was absolutely beautiful. There were also a wide variety of drinks and I found their strawberry lemonade delicious as it wasn’t too sweet and the fact that they offered boba was delightful! We will definitely be back!!!

Updated review: value for money is maybe a little less good than it used to be, but the food is still v tasty and with supplier prices right now I think it’s OK. Apologies for my scathing review- this place is still good if you’re out for an evening meal and don’t mind splashing out a little. Staff are great.

Can’t recommend this place enough! My friend and I both had dogs and were struggling to find a place that allowed us to sit outside, but we came across this place and I’m glad we did. Had blankets for us outside, the food was 10/10 and they even gave us free dessert! Also I have a nut allergy and they were very accommodating which was appreciated! Chris served us and was great, will definitely be back😋

What a little gem of a place! This place is perfect wee spot for a bite to eat, the menu is different from the other bao buns but there is so much to choose from and everything is so fresh and tasty. I got the lamb kofta bao from the express lunch menu and it was gorgeous. The Vietnamese coffee is stunning. Service was so lovely and couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. Can’t wait to get back ❤️

Absolutely spectacular! BaoBun is my FAVOURITE place in Belfast! You haven't lived until you have Bao! Always fresh, delicious, flavourful, served by wonderful, friendly staff. You'll want to come back every time you visit Belfast.

Beautiful fresh food and amazing flavours on the new Brunch menu. Strawberry lemonade was so good. 1st time here and certainly won't be the last. Can't wait to try the dinner menu next time.

Came for a bit of something different on a Sunday evening. Familiar with the Botanic eatery so expecting something tasty. Absolutely blown away by the kindness of the staff on arrival. Easy to order, great selection. The food was delicious (corn ribs-great!) Will be back. Recommended to anyone. Note-kids welcomed and made to feel special.

Probably the best dinner I've had in Belfast ! The staff are fantastic and the craic was fantastic. They were very accommodating and efficient! Will definitely be back. Chris was excellent and some craic !

Woah! What a 5 star experience. The waitress was really friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The food and drink was outstanding. I highly recommend this place for families and couples.

The wee boy with the tattoos made excellent cocktails and he really made me feel welcomed in the establishment when he came to clear our plates and ensured that we had everything we needed. The food was sublime, and the overall vibe was euphoric. However, it was slightly pricey but you get what you pay for and this was great for a once a month eat out. 10.10

Went for lunch today as we went before for dinner and it was fantastic. This time however we were let down by the service. The waitress was nice but after my wife and i had finished our meal our plates were cleared and the waitress brought the bill straight over and asked did i need the card machine. We had planned to order a coffee and dessert but werent given the chance or option to do so and felt then we were being rushed to leave and we hadn't even finished our drinks. This was around 2pm and we were only there around 25 minutes and the only table in. We did order off the express menu but still no excuse. I work in restaurants and would never be so rude to do that.

Great place. Though the menu is smaller then botanics shop. But it was full of flavour and no messing about.

The new place does look great and the food is as good as always but I've got to be honest I'm a bit disappointed I don't have the classic bao bun fast food setup anymore because it was the only thing like it in ballyhackamore where you were guaranteed to get great, customisable, quick, large portioned and reasonably priced fast food. I think it's a little overpriced now and didn't expect to be given bottled water I had to pay for when I asked for just water 😅 I hope the new take goes well for them but for me personally I liked the street food vibe better.

Absolutely amazing spontaneous night at Bao Bun. First time here and will lead to time and time again. Bonnie filled the room with so much love and care and was like talking to an old friend, and gave me and my partner excellent recommendations. The Vietnamese coffee and Banana Spring roll dessert was our highlights! Thank you so much for a gorgeous night ♥️

We had an absolutely delicious meal in the gorgeous new set-up! The duck and chicken baos were so tasty and fresh, a gorgeous atmosphere and our waiters were fab. Chris and Jeff were so friendly and passionate about the new set up which was lovely to see, and they provided a welcoming, efficient service. Would really recommend and will definitely be back. Since opening its doors last year in Ballyhack, BaoBun has become synonymous with high quality Taiwanese Street Food serving fantastic, fresh sharing plates, dressed fries, rice dishes, soups, burgers and the ultimate sandwich: steamed, pillowy Bao packed with delicious flavours and fillings. And since January, the reinvented “BaoBun Deluxe” features an exciting new menu, table service, a terrific drinks list, and great options for vegans & vegetarians. All ingredients are cooked, steamed, baked, & pickled in-house. The new interior is stunning. Fabulous artwork by local artist Codo, in rich reds and striking blacks, gives the restaurant a warm, contemporary feel, accompanied by a playlist which was completely up our street. There’s also a great little heated terrace so you can enjoy al fresco dining with your furry friends! We started our lunch with a couple of clever twists on traditional cocktails; a spicy Kimchi Cosmo, and a smooth Vietnamese Espresso Martini. We ordered a selection of dishes to share, including crunchy Popcorn Cauliflower with a Ponzu dipping sauce, tender Tempura Crispy Squid with wasabi tartar, and a refreshing Chilli Soy Cucumber Sesame Salad which all complemented each other perfectly. The Bao are phenomenally good; light cushions of steamed dough, filled with a variety of temptingly tasty fillings. The Roast Duck Bao was a hoisin, cucumber & scallion delight. Even the burgers are a unique take on the traditional, featuring lightly toasted sesame Bao Buns. We went for the Panko Halloumi with slaw and a chilli mango chutney: crispy, cheesy and satisfying. Watch out for exciting new developments at Bao Bun Deluxe, including Deluxe Sharing Platters for 2, served on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 to 17:00, a snip at £20, or £30 including a carafe of wine. Lovely food but the menu is so complicated even the staff struggle with it. A few set meals would really help.

Bao bun is a take on, to costly for all you get.

The first time trying a crispy chicken bao burger it was very nice. But I've had the fries and chicken before and with highly recommended that before the burger 👌🏻😋

Made while you wait, fresh and exciting flavours order up a individual box or go with box 1,2,or 3there is something here for every pallet. .....well priced and good sized portions.drfinately reccomend in trying Bao Bun out.

Went for the first time today and both me and my husband loved the food. The girl taking our order was also incredibly helpful and friendly (I didn't catch her name, otherwise I might give a shout out), but anyway, our visit was very pleasant overall. Will definitely be back.

Good service, the waitress was ok however the food was terrible. I ordered the classic pork bao and the meat was more fat than meat. I had ordered some other dishes and they were inedible with hard rice and dodgy meat. We left after 5 minutes.

Would highly recommend a visit. Menu can be a bit confusing but staff were brilliant in assisting us with our order. Food was delicious. Will definitely be returning.

Hi just had pork bao buns buns cold and pork also cold maybe 20gr pork in them for £12.95, the so called chilly chips not spicy and extremely salty I make bao buns often at home and I must say very disappointed not be back again

My boyfriend and I visited on their 2nd day of being open, and I cannot compliment the staff more! We came at a busy time where the queue was slightly long, but it wasn't long getting cleared. I have long been a bao bun fan and this store is a very exciting addition to the chain! I have to shout out all the staff members that were on that night, they were all so positive and energetic even though I'm sure they were probably stressed out! I wish I knew their names, but I especially want to shout out the guy that took our order at the start with the nose piercing and the girl at the till who complimented my skirt:) their energies were so positive and they deserve so much praise, as do all the other staff members!!
