Phenomenal Thai food with fantastic service. Made our booking over the phone which took multiple attempts over a few days to get through & naturally we walked into a totally packed out restaurant for our booking and was promptly shown our table. Starters were served within 10 minutes of ordering and they were piping hot & freshly cooked. I was stunned by the flavours and even more so by the operation at play. Efficiently turning over tables and filling them again through the evening. BYOB also. Flavour like you’ve never had before at an affordable price. Will be back again. Would recommend they explore an online booking system to someone who can manage the phones as this place obviously lives well up to its reputation.

The food is always delicious. Authentuc Thai street food at affordable prices. The service is great. It has a young, dynamic, and friendly vibe to the place. You need to book a few days in advance as it is very popular, and don't forget to bring your own drinks as they don't have a license.

Food just ok. More potato than chicken in my chicken curry. Didn't get correct order and had to take jasmine rice rather than boiled rice as it was what was plonked on the table with no effort made to bring correct dish. Poor service, servers seemed impatient and not fussed if they got orders wrong.

Very tasty thai food, they recommend booking two weeks in advance since its so popular! We were very lucky we got a table during our visit to Belfast. We had pad gra pow (thai basil minced chicken), thai red curry and chicken satay, all were amazing. Its BYOB and the staff are lovely, there was a short wait for the bill but thats expected since its so busy!! Would visit again

Delicious food. But not the warmest restaurant I've ever sat in. Couldn't fault the service. Would I go back? Yes!

I would not recommend this restaurant and can’t believe some of the other reviews. The service was terrible, treated like we were unwelcome from arrival. They forgot my partners main all together and he had to wait extra 10 mins and no apology was given. I asked for the bill 3 times over the course of 35 mins and in the end got up and went to the counter to pay. Once again no apology for the wait. The food was fine, but the quality of the meat was very low, scrappy bits of chicken, not big chunks. The only good thing was the BYOB.

Food average, service below average. Turned away 5 mins before our booking because they weren't ready then 10 seconds later had the next bookings in to be seated before us. Forgot to make the sides and never put any chilli in my meal after I requested it extra hot. Doubt I will try again.

Food just ok not different from other Thai restaurants but really can’t compare proper Thai food in Thailand. Worse!!!! service ever in Belfast the one woman ( Asian ) has terrible face , bad service and bad attitude I would like to walk out from the 1st time once I saw that ugl* face. I don’t want to point this too much but it ruined my day really. I asked some of my friends and they talked the same way about that woman!!!! OMG!! What ever I will never ever go back to that place again.

Nothing special about the food at all, tried a variety of things. Very overpowering flavours and everything was quite spicy aswell. Have to pay for sides aswell, Curry doesn't come with rice etc etc. The owner lady that was there was kinda rude and didn't seem to care that you were looking for service, just left you standing there for a solid 5 mins when the restaurant wasn't even busy. Wouldn't recommend, or go back mainly because the food wasn't great. Had the green curry, a chicken dish and drunken noodles - really underwhelming all of it.

Excellent food served by friendly and efficient staff. I had the Massaman curry with chicken and plain steamed coconut rice and it was generous and delicious. My wife had Fillet of Basa and stir fried noodles and again, it was excellent. The place was packed and there was a really good atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be taking advantage of the BYOB option. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Disappointing takeaway. Whilst food is tasty, nothing like eating in their restaurant - which whilst it feels like one is sitting in a canteen has always been delicious. Takeaway felt poor value for money. Beef massaman had four pieces of tough beef. Drunken noodles tasty but claggy. Chicken panang similarly all sauce and very little meat. Pad thai 2 prawns and really not amazing. Overall for £45 (we didn’t order rice or any sides) this did not feel like a decent meal for four people. Would eat in the restaurant again but would not recommend takeaway.

Ah hear, arrived at 5:30pm to discover it was fully booked all evening but the waitress checked again & said we could have a table until 6:40 which was perfect! Had a main meal that was delectable with fresh, Thai ingredients & elegance! So reasonably priced to boot!

Bo Tree was always my favourite back in the day so I was delighted to see it has reopened. The new spot isn't as grand but it still didn't disappoint. The food is incredible. So fresh and flavoursome. Lots of dishes to choose from. We were a party of 10 all with starters an mains, not one complaint between us. Service is quick. Added bonus of being byo. Can't wait till go again

Located in the university district of Belfast. Small family-owned restaurant offering authentic and fresh Thai food for a reasonable price. Parking can be sketchy, and no alcohol is served, but you are welcome to bring your own wine/beer, which almost everyone does. We were here in a Wednesday night and it was PACKED, so reservations are a MUST. If noisy and crowded outweigh the quality of the meal for you then this is not your place. But despite being both of the above, it is a great place to enjoy very good Thai food in Belfast.

Fabulous food, quick extremely delicious

Food was delicious but extremely overpriced for very small portions compared to other Thai options in town. Restaurant seating was very cramped and I would advise booking as even though it was early on a weeknight we were only given the table for an hour (17:30-18-30). Also remember it's BYOB.

Apart from the wonky table a thoroughly lovely meal, delicately spiced and leaving a hotish mouth afterwards. Tables are a bit close together for comfort in a very popular restaurant. Would recommend the pork curry , though the crunchy plate of vegetables were close.

Fabulous food in a friendly informal place. Great menu, beautifully presented delicious dishes and great portion sizes. Very much enjoyed this restaurant.

Food is really tasty, I ordered coconut rice and masaman curry and and Tom Yam Gai soup and it was lovely, the same as the dessert. I suggest to book in advance so you avoid to wait until a table is available. It's really good the fact that you can bring your own drinks.

Amazing veg options, loved the yellow curry

Went there with a big group so we ordered many dishes to try a bit of everything. The portion was small as Thai dishes are meant to be shared. My favourites are papaya salad, pork skewers, banana fritters and red/green curry. Foods were not as spicy as expected. The shop was quite busy so I didn't expect much from customer service but the staff were very helpful

We booked our table for 6pm and to be honest we felt rushed from the outset with multiple reminders about how much time we’d left and service that’s a little too quick. No one explained when we booked there was a time limit. So I won’t be rushing back! The food was ok. Some dishes nicer than others. Pad Thai is recommended! The tamarind duck was tough and chewy in places. Deep fried breaded prawns were excellent! Squid was rubbery and chewy with no dipping sauce which I found odd. It’s rough and ready but the atmosphere is good. I’d forgive the mixed food if we weren’t being ushered out so fast!

Ordered a fish dish (Plaa Lad Prik) and it was simply terrible. The dish had a meager piece of fish, and extra-generous amount of low quality sugar - imagine dipping a fish bait in coco cola. #WalkAway we are going home for some food

Do not think about the size of the restaurant. The taste you get here is the best you would get anywhere in belfast🫡🥂 Bo Tree is my favourite place around Belfast for good tasty food. Book in advance or else you will have to wait. Place is always busy so plan your visit ahead of the time😀 But worth the wait if you have to wait 😜 They are the best with authenticate taste and texture of thai food. Its hot Super fresh Spicy mild depending on your taste But super amazing food which so satisfying ♥️

It better be a takeaway than a restaurant. Good food and quick service. There is no doubt about that, but everything else is a disaster. Right from booking a table to paying your bill, it feels as if you are least welcome at the Joint. I try not to go there as much as possible.

Best Thai food I’ve had in the UK - delicious!

Great food but horrific customer service. After eating here weekly for many years we received our first bad meal & gave the feedback to the chef very politely wanted him to know the food wasn’t fresh so we weren’t able to eat it on this occasion and he suddenly started yelling at me to get out and I’m not welcome, after trying to pay for my drinks he continued to yell for me to leave and not come back, after many years supporting this small business I felt i was doing the right thing letting them know the food we received was OFF!, little did I know he would react this way. Very disappointing and I’m sure he is probably embarrassed by his reactive aggressive behaviour. Food is great but I wouldn’t recommend any longer due to the scene the head chef made over some feedback.

Massive difference from when this restaurant opened to now. Yes, the food is absolutely delicious but portion sizes have minimised drastically. Expensive for all you get. Service is OK. Staff aren't overly friendly. Slight feeling of unease as they be back to back with bookings so you feel under pressure to vacate the table ASAP.

Went on a Friday night, booked well in advance. Very busy but knew this had to be a good thing. We were a table of 4. Waited a couple of minutes for the table to be set and then we were seated. Food wise we shared 5 starters. We only ordered 4 main dishes. In hindsight when I go again I will make sure we order more. The food is incredible. Proper authentic Thai food. Would definitely recommend and also recommend booking in advance.

Absolute slop. Starters were bland at best. But the mains were a disgrace, insipid, watery sauces, bland and totaly lacking in any substance flavour or skill. Whoever had the misfortune of preparing these dishes should seriously consider a change of career. Service was OK, nothing to write home about but OK. Atmosphere OK as well, noisy .... some may say vibrant. But atmosphere alone does not do it. Give the place a miss and try Madame Pho instead

Flavoursome, authentic and very affordable ! I've tried many places (worldwide) but keep coming back here as the food never fails to put a smile on my face. Best spot in Belfast hands down and the food is always consistent!!

Absolutely wonderful food, from starters to desserts each dish we ordered was authentic and clearly made fresh. The prawn toast special, the massaman curry, special fried rice and the banana fritters were highlights. Very very busy restaurant though, despite having reservations had to wait for a table for about 20 minutes. But very kind hostess, reassured us a table would be arranged and came through.

Excellent food and friendly service

We order spring rolls, coco drinks and Thai iced tea, it was tasty, one of the best Asian resturant I ever tried, sure to come back again,highly recommended you guys try if you visit Belfast, I am sure that would add some enjoyment moment to your trip. Doesn’t serve alcohol, but charges nominal corkage fees for beer and wine. I guess they don’t need the extra profit from alcohol, since they charge £3 for a small serving of rice. Regular menu items £8 to £12 NOT including rice. Ice cream for dessert? That’ll be £5. Very loud. Service is good.

We got there at 6pm, and already the place was buzzing, we were acknowledged and seated almost immediately with a great view of the open plan kitchen. I love when I can see what's going on behind the scenes, when you get that little flutter of excitement when a dish is being plated up, "Is this ours? I think this is ours!" The menu is fairly extensive whilst only being a one pager, with a variety of categories to choose from on the front and a full vegetarian menu on the back. We got the Pad Siew, Beef Massaman, Coconut Rice & Sticky Rice. They had a selection of drinks, but not much in the way of soft drinks, however, our server informed us of the 'corkage' fee on soft drinks and told us we could run to the shop across the road and get something more to our liking which was super handy! She did say she'd bring us some glasses with ice, but they never materialised. The dishes came out promptly and looked amazing, especially the steamed rice in its little woven bamboo case. My wife was VERY excited about this, as we hadn't had rice in such novel fashion since our time spent living in London. The Massaman was beautiful. After the first taste of the elegantly spiced sauce married with the sticky rice I knew we'd found something special. There were generous chunks of slow cooked beef and hearty potato nestled in the savoury peanut sauce, with a portion that could arguably have served 3 people. Hands down the best Massaman I've had. Ever. Next up was the Pad Siew, we opted for seafood as our choice of protein. Thick rice noodles stir fried with egg, vegetables and a pleasing variety of seafood - prawn, squid & mussels. The taste brought me right back to my time in Asia, there was something strikingly familiar about the authenticity of the flavours and the simplicity in which those flavours were delivered. I loved that there was a subtle smokiness of where the intense heat of the wok had caught the edges of the noodles, giving an extra dimension to what is essentially stir fried noodles - but calling it that does it a massive disservice. Over the last few months we've been disappointed with so many restaurants, and it was such a refreshing change to have found something REALLY GOOD, a place where we are genuinely excited for the next time we get to go back to try something else from the menu. By the time we'd finished every seat had been filled, and I can absolutely see why. We will definitely be back and hope this encourages more people to give it a try. C

A local Belfast buddy wanted me to taste and test how Thai this place is. Lone behold, it's more Thai than in the US and comparable to the local places in Thailand. Atmosphere: the place is very cozy, friendly, and always packed! Patience is key as the food is worth the wait. The kitchen is open to the dining area, you can see and smell it which is the true experience. Service: the staff is very helpful. Despite the place being very crowded and busy, they are rocking it. No alcohol sold here, so BYOB with corkage fee. Recommend keeping it simple for BYOB. Food: this is ultimately a surprise for a Thai-American from Los Angeles and Chiangmai. Ingredients are authentic, generous, and the cooking style is savory-rustic. The Thai auntie/uncle/cousin is cooking this with great flavors and techniques. Dishes tried: Satay skewers - 4/5 delicious, mild, reasonable but not ultra charred to maintain the juiciness of the meat. Peanut sauce is very good and savory with enough curry spices in them. One thing missing is cucumber sweet salad dipping, but not necessarily needed. White rice - 5/5 sounds crazy to review, but they serve legit Thai jasmine white rice, this is golden. In the US, some Thai places serve white long grain rice, to cut costs. This brings a quality aroma for your Thai rice experience. Egg Fried Rice - 5/5 great for flavor and a hearty side when eating spicy. Not too oily, just right. Pad Kee Mao (Spicy Basil Drunken Noodles - 5/5 amazing! Spices, ingredients, white rice noodles are charred and stir-fry to perfection. I cannot stress this, they know how to work the wok, the dish is not soggy and feels like bbq-esque noodles with spices. Stick to medium spicy is good. Pad Seew (aka Pad-See Ew) - 4/5 great! Similar to pad Kee mao style, but the ingredients are milder. I prefer more flavors and spices. This is a non-spicy savory dish. Roasted Duck in Tamarind sauce - 5/5 this is a must! Grilled roasted duck with crispy skin topped with sweet tangy tamarind sauce, over roasted cashews, green onion, and dried chili. Epic! Non-spicy dishes are good to have with other spicy dishes. Roasted Duck curry (Panang curry) - 5/5 very hearty, flavorful, medium spiced, super good on top of white jasmine rice! Salty, sweet, and the duck isn't overly done. Kua Kling (Southern Thai stir fried curry) - 5/5 very packed with spices and herbs, this is a pretty spicy minced pork dish. Very flavorful and hot, best with rice. Basil Spicy Seafood - 6/5! this is by far the most delicious dish out all we had. The seafood here in Belfast is very fresh (compared to the US), combined with fresh Thai herbs and spices, and the subtle technique where the flavors spicy, savory, slight sweet is just right! The sauce used is perfect to drench with you rice. So good! Som tum papaya salad Thai style - 5/5 ordered extra spicy was a bad idea, it's literally Thai level for medium so extra spicy was fiery full of red fresh chilis. My friend took it well while I waved my white flag as my lips burned and puffed. Regardless, the flavors are all balanced as it should: salty, sweet, spicy, and sour. A nice restaurant for eating out and enjoying good food. Met with friends while visiting Belfast and the restaurant was easy to locate with enough free on street parking after 6pm. It is obviously a popular spot among locals as the restaurant got filled pretty quickly after 7pm. The seating was a bit close for comfort and is not conducive to conversation as we could hardly converse without raised voices. We had prawn toast and spring rolls for starters which were ok. Then stir fry chicken with garlic, pepper and coriander for main which was delicious although we could not really taste the different flavours. We then finished off with our delightful desserts - sticky coconut rice with mango, cake & vanilla ice-cream. If in the area, this is a restaurant you can visit.

We were a group of 4 people and we booked a table for a Thursday night, good thing we did as the place was packed and there was continuously a queue waiting to be seated! The food was delicious but portion sizes are relatively small so best to order a number of dishes to share. We chose the battered prawns, calamari, veg spring rolls, satay chicken, and phat thai to start and then I ordered the chicken red curry with coconut rice for main. Excellent quality, fair prices, and quick enough service. They let themselves down when we were handed the bill literally during the final bites and when we asked for a dessert menu we were told "no" quite directly with no explanation. When we asked another server they again said that we needed to leave the table so the next party could come in. So beware if you do eat here you will have only 90 mins from the minute you sit down. I believe this should be communicated to each party as they are seated. 3.5/5

Love this place. The food is amazing. We especially loved the oyster beef. I just wish it was bigger because when full the tables are a bit close together but it's understandable when things are so hard for the hospitality industry right now.

First time in this restaurant. Waited while to be seated. Think they could do with area for people to wait and sit before being seated. When seated order taken quickly and food was served quickly. Wld have hatedto have been seated at the door as wld have been freezing.People constantly cmn in,so wld recommend you book seats away from door. Food excellent. I think waitress was called Megan or similarly name. She was very good and explained the menu well. This is BYO restaurant as well which is great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great meal last night at Bo Tree. Food came out really quickly and was well cooked. Tempura vegetables weren’t greasy and batter was very crisp, unlike some other restaurants I’ve been to. Don’t forget to bring your own booze! Also, try the Moo Yang if you get a chance

If you want great authentic Thai food, this is it. It's a fast-paced place for a quick bite to eat due to how busy they are. Often hear other customers complaining about their seating or the loudness of other customers or the spiciness in there food (lol). But for the price I don't know what they're talking about. Sometimes slow service honestly, but if you're only it it for the good food at a great price then worth it to me.

I used to like this restaurant a lot. However, they have a serious issue with customer service and actually putting effort in to being nice (what a shame this takes effort for them!). Today I turned up to ask for a table of 3 on the off chance. No one greeted me and I was made to advance to the back of the restaurant after standing around, only to speak with two staff members who were eating rice cakes on the job (or some other snack). Another staff member sleeked away to avoid contact There was clearly enough tables spare to accommodate us but the staff were frankly not arsed and said sorry it wasn't possible amid the crunching of rice cakes. A friend of mine had a similar bad experience and I had stuck up for them, not anymore.

I visited the restaurant today along with my friends after hearing some decent reviews. Even though the restaurant was not that crowded at that time we were not attended by the waitress for 10-15 mins despite calling them for a couple of times giving us a cold shoulder even when they did the service was very poor and we were not even served water. When we were about to finish up the meal, the waitress around stared at my friend to finish up the meal and leave. This made us very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Coming to the food it was decent but overall experience was very bad. I wouldn't recommend dinning.

Staff should be treating the customers properly when they visit first or every time. Unexpected and disappointed over seating expectations when it can cause uncomfortableness to other customers.

First time at Bo Tree and it was lovely! It’s a very busy place, so best to book. Ordered some deep fried prawns as a starter. Then the chicken red curry with some coconut steamed rice. The curry itself was delicious, full of flavour and spicy! The deep fried prawns were nice too, but I’d like to try some of their other starters next time. The staff were very friendly and even though the restaurant was busy they were attentive. I also got my food pretty quickly too. Well worth a visit and I’ll definitely be back!

I was here for lunch with some work friends. First time for all of us after hearing good reviews. The food was decent with quite an extensive menu and good value. It arrived quickly and service was good. Only negative was the front door didn’t seem to close properly so it was constantly chilly where we were sitting.

Tom Ka soup and squid to start …Amazing! So delicious 😋 Mains were very tasty. Sorry we didn’t take pics. I would highly recommend this place. First visit, will definitely return. And now I know it’s BYO, I will next time. Great service. Staff friendly and very helpful.

The best pad thai I have ever tried.

Food is class although pretty small portions and most of the men were still a little hungry after main course. Went here for my birthday and all good though the main waiter is not the most pleasant, possibly more personality in a shoe. Although they were pretty busy but I have waitered i could still be pleasant.

Outstanding. First time at the Bo Tree this evening and busting to go back already. Every dish was fantastic. I don't even know what it was called but 411 (A curry) on the Menu is absolutely fantastic. And the Moo Yang is superb. I honestly don't think I could have ordered anything sub standard.

Food still fresh, tasty and perfect, reasonably priced, good service, and still BYO. Best Thai food in Belfast by some distance. Busy, so booking recommended. Absolutely love this place. Usually go with 4 friends and order a selection from the menu (very bingo like) and can honestly say IV never had a bad mouthful never mind a bad dish. Appears authentic, tastes great and every so often you will smell chilli or ginger from the kitchen just come across the restaurant to remind you there are chefs working hard back there. Try as much as you can. Sticky rice is a perfect accompaniment too. Also... Bring your own wine!

We booked a table for 8pm on a Friday evening arriving on time and were greeted with rude customer service. We were immediately told to step out and wait in the cold and asked could we not see people trying to leave the restaurant? After...

We booked table but unfortunately we have been 20 min late. We tried to let them know we are running late, but get through phone was impossible. Once we went in we got table but made us feel like we have to rush our meal because we came late (totally our fault). Although once we wanted to pay we waited 20 minutes and had to asked 4 times no joke for a bill and machine. We didn't like service there but food was absolutely delicious and amazing. We would not be back for sit in as it was very loud and crowded but happily order take away anytime. Just a small point they don't serve alcohol but there is no problem bring your own. They just charge corkage. I would recommend this place for food. Very tasty and an excellent.

I love the food here. They don't hold back on the spicy dishes and everything is top tier Thai food.

The food was very bad ,the rice noodle was done without effort and tasted bad, everyone could have done a better job,and the crunchy tofu was tasteless,the service as well was very poor.

The food was very nice and reasonably priced. I went on a Saturday evening and it was very busy throughout so was clearly popular with the locals and I would definitely recommend booking in advance.

Great authentic Thai food in an exceptionally busy restaurant. Despite the frenetic atmosphere, the service is first class. We tried the Red Thai Curry with prawns, the Beef pan-fried with baby aubergine, and a side dish of broccoli with oyster sauce. A large crowd of 20-somethings were celebrating a football victory so the noise levels were high. It added to the atmosphere . The food is exceptional . Go if you can.

We were totally whacked after a hard day’s work and took a chance on an early walk-in. Pure magic. The food was absolutely brilliant. Fabulous mix of street food and regional Thai. Best Thai meal we’ve had outside of Chiang Mai and very reasonably priced. Kóp kun Bo Tree Kitchen.
