Stopped by for a drink whilst visiting the area, from the second I parked the staff were well attentive and friendly, amazing views and a great place to relax

We were very fortunate to be given a voucher for afternoon tea. There was a party of 6 of us. The food was to very high standard. We had a lovely time. The staff were extremely polite and explained each dish as they came out. Couldn't fault.

A beautiful restaurant with spectacular views up the river through ceiling to floor windows. We ate breakfast and dinner in the brasserie and the food is superb. So much choice and if you wanted something off the menu I expect it would be no problem to the chefs to accommodate this. Well presented food served by the most charming, hard working, exceptionally well trained and personable young staff.

Great hotel, nice bar and restaurant with wonderful view. Unfortunately didn’t book a room with a view, but next time will.

Made to feel welcome as soon you arrive at the door . Excellent service , large selection of gluten free options ( I am coeliac) and delicious food. It is expensive but worth it for the ambience, food , service and beautiful views of the loch. We will go back and highly recommend for a leisurely lunch .

This restaurant is a true gem: The view over the loch is stunning, and the service and quality of the food is just excellent.

Ristorante ottimo e finalmente anche in Scozia abbiamo mangiato benissimo! Abbiamo mangiato risotto di pesce e zucca linguine al granchio e filetto di cervo. Tutto davvero ottimo, non c'era nulla che non andava. Abbiamo preso due calici di rosè francese e un dessert creme brulee. Spesa totale 90 sterline, non poco, ma ripeto i piatti erano tutti squisiti. Complimenti allo chef.

We are locals, visit fairly regularly and enjoyed a Lovely evening tonight celebrating my daughter’s highers. Great food and lovely cocktails to kick our evening off. The staff were all great from the upstairs team making our cocktails to the waiting on team in the brasserie / and a very special thank you to Davie who kindly came to pick us up- he is a credit to Fonab and I hope they look after him! A great evening and we would highly recommend!

This was our first visit to Fonab Castle and sadly our experience fell short of what we were expecting from a 5 Star establishment. We were meeting up with 3 other family members for a light lunch in the Brasserie. The welcome at the main entrance was excellent and certainly cannot be faulted. this also applied to the welcome from Viola on entering the dining area. The quality of the food was of a good standard but our experience was badly let down by the air conditioning and the poor quality of service. We had to ask for the air conditioning to be switched off as the cold air was making us very uncomfortable. Some of the sliding windows were also open so why the air conditioning was one is beyond me. It was switched of but towards the end of our lunch it was switched back on. There was no need for it to be on. The member of staff who took our order showed a distinct lack of menu knowledge and was unable to describe some of the dishes to us. When asked what the soup was she admitted that she did not know. My sister in law asked about the the spring garden vegetable salad and specifically asked if there tomatoes with the salad. The server hesitated and said no. She decided not to order the salad. My brother in law asked for detail on the rillette but she was incapable of describing this dish. So he ordered the spring garden salad. What a surprise when it was served and we saw that it did include tomatoes!! My sister in law was not amused. The server was clearly not adequately trained and should be an issue for management to look into. Such a shame that our first visit was spoiled. It is a lovely location and setting overlooking Loch Faskally.

After a long day spent touring selected sites between Edinburgh & Pitlochry, we arrived at the Fonab Hotel both tired & hungry. We were able to book dinner at the Brasserie, later that evening, and were very happy with our experience. We were immediately entranced by the view of Loch Faskally & the meal was terrific, as well. Everything was well prepared and the service was excellent. The Brasserie provided us with a wonderful ending to our first day in Scotland! Since we were staying at the Fonab Castle Hotel, breakfast in The Brasserie was included in our booking. Again, there was that wonderful view combined with a delicious selection of breakfast offerings. What a great way to start the day! P.S. I highly recommend having a drink in the Fonab Castle Lounge prior to dinner. Same great view + great service!

Very disappointing. Having been to Fonab on a few occasions previously, we had no hesitation in meeting our friends there to celebrate his birthday……. Big mistake. Table was booked for 7pm. We arrived at 7.05 due to the rain and bad roads. As we arrived my friends phone was ringing, this was the hotel asking if we were still coming! In fact we were standing in front of the lady that was on the phone! We were shown to our seats and asked if we wanted to order drinks before we sat down. In fact we were asked 4 times before I asked if they had a cocktail menu which we were then given. The waiter stood there while we looked at it with pen poised! We all felt a bit uncomfortable and rushed. Drinks order arrived and a bottle of tonic was dropped on the table. The waiter cleaned the floor and left to get another bottle. He returned, apologised,left the bottle and disappeared. We then had to ask if someone could wipe the table and the side plate. Wine ordered but did not arrive. We had to ask for it after the main course arrived. Waiter poured us our first glass and after that we had to pour our own. My meal arrived and my Pomme purée was cold. I very privately told the waitress and she took it away. When she brought it back I had only a 3rd of the pomme purée I had the first time, but thought it best to not make a complaint. However I very quickly realised that my sole was raw! Not undercooked or opaque but actually raw and cold in the middle. Again I informed the waitress. She apologised and asked if I would like to order something else. I declined as by now the others were almost finished their meals. We didn’t order desserts and only 1 out of the 4 of us ordered a coffee, an Americano with hot milk on the side. When it arrived it was a black coffee with cold milk on the side! We then asked for the bill as we just wanted to go home. I checked the bill and the fish had not been charged, however the pomme purée and the broccoli sides I’d ordered had been! I asked them to remove them and to also remove the 12.5% service charge. The waitress wasn’t too happy and still no apology. I then asked to speak to a supervisor/manager to be told that there wasn’t a manager on duty (this was a Saturday night!) there was an assistant manager and that was the waitress we’d been dealing with! She said she would get a manager to call me tomorrow and took my name, phone number and email address. This was Saturday evening 20th May and it is now Wednesday 24th and still no communication of any sort. I always believe that problems can occur in any business but it is how they are handled and rectified that leaves a lasting impression. As I said, very disappointing. My conclusion is that this is an apparent 5 star establishment, but in the last few months we have stayed/eaten at The Balmoral, Cameron House and Gleneagles and this was NOT 5 star by any stretch of the imagination! In fact the only thing 5 star about Fonab is the beautiful view and the prices!

We had afternoon tea. We opted for the classic option - sandwiches- scones - cakes - tea. It was all good the tea (English breakfast) was excellent. At £39.50 per head plus c£6 for a bottle of water plus 12.5% service charge there wasn’t much change from £100. Even with that good surroundings and service it didn’t feel like value for money. Given the whole experience, I think c£60 would have been good value. We’ve paid more for afternoon tea (The Ritz, London- which knocked our socks off!). If going to Fonab for afternoon tea again I’d opt for the tea and scones option for c£16 per head.

We ate here for my birthday recently. I thought the food was lovely and the service was excellent; we have no complaints. I quite liked the open setting, it gave the place a bit of a buzz. I do agree with the comment re service charge - we tend to tip quite generously when the service deserves it, but I too would like to decide how much to give rather than it being added automatically to the bill (you can, of course, ask to have it removed but who wants the hassle?). Overall, for a special occasion I would happily go again.

Despite the restaurant being entirely empty, the staff sat us in the furthest corner by the drafty emergency exit, facing the booster seats and the dishwashing station behind the bar. This was baffling. Having requested a window table, and being the only two people in the restaurant, it seems we could easily have been sat at one of the 10 or 15 empty window-facing tables we could see from our cold, dark corner. (Nobody else ever came, so this was not an issue of demand.) Someone asked us what wine we would like to order before giving us a menu (we hadn’t even sat down yet), and then offered to take our coats, which he did not. After ten more minutes we walked back to the entrance and hung them up ourselves while a smartly dressed man scowled at us. We ordered an expensive bottle of champagne which our lovely waitstaff member did not know about, so she went to get the somm. Because it was so dead in there, we heard a man say the following: “he’s still not here” and, in an exasperated tone: “just tell them it’s complex and delicious, just say that.” The champagne then came out *unrefrigerated* and warm, accompanied by a fishy, badly prepared scallop ceviche, and at this point we got the bill and left. There were several other pretty unbelievable things that happened, but I’ll just say that on the whole this place reeks of a soulless corporate takeover, so that’s my guess. A pretty upsetting experience, to be honest.

We booked a meal at the Fonab Castle Brasserie to celebrate our fifth we anniversary, following our wedding here in 2017, so were very much looking forward to returning. To start on a positive note, the staff were very friendly and welcoming and we were shown to our table straight away. The food we ordered was excellent and the service prompt. The venison was extremely well cooked and of very good quality; we could not fault the food or service at all. However… Upon arrival it was apparent that the hotel had undergone quite an extensive refurbishment since our last visit and whilst it still looked extremely modern and luxurious, the chosen ‘theme’ of décor was somewhat bizarre and not particularly fitting for a traditional Scottish castle. The Brasserie dining area had been opened out which made it feel a little sparse and noisy, and again, the choice of décor looked more Morocco than Scotland. Following our meal, we went to take a look in the older part of the building in which our wedding had been held and I’m sad to say, the refurbishment has absolutely destroyed the original character of the castle. Sandermans Restaurant, the Whisky Lounge and adjoining corridor area had been fitted with the most hideous carpet which would have been more at home in a downtown Las Vegas Casino or seaside amusement arcade, and the formally beautiful traditional oak panelling to the walls had been painted an awful shade of green. I have no idea who thought such a refurbishment would be an improvement on what was there before, and unfortunately we felt that the Scottish soul had been ripped out of the hotel in doing so. I won’t say we won’t return again, but it was such a disappointment to see the building with its present interior when it had such personal memories in its previous state.

Can’t fault the quality of the food, or the service. However £150 for two, including a “discretionary “ service charge automatically applied, for a two course meal and one glass of wine each, no coffees, was much more than the meal was worth. I do object to service charges, described as discretionary, being imposed, particularly at 15%, rather than the more usual UK level of 10%. I invariably leave a tip, unless the service is abysmal, but I want to decide whether to tip, and how much.

A special occasion that was made to feel special….especially on the pocket where it hurt. The presentation of the food was excellent but the prices were unreal. The staff could not have been more professional and genuinely attentive. The ambience is so memorable and so all the family enjoyed the visit. Many thanks.

We visited the lounge bar. I remember the bar having a wonderful selection of single malts several years ago. But this time, it was quite different. First of all, the menu lists many many whiskies that are not available. The names are not spelled correctly and the prices don’t make sense. The core range whiskies are at a very high price and some whiskies, like the Laphroaig 25, are listed at 18£. When we asked for it, we realized the price is actually 170£ on one of the menus (it’s been corrected by hand, and highlighted but only on one menu unlike the four other menus). They also didn’t have it anyway. The staff was really really nice and tried to help as much as they could. But they didn’t know what to do, as the « whisky manager » wasn’t there. He probably hasn’t been there for a while because the menu is not updated at all. The friendly staff asked us to follow them to see the whisky collection which is located above the heater. The wooden cabinet is very very hot and you can notice condensation due to heat in the bottles. What a shame. A lot of the whiskies in the collection are not on the menu. And the waiters have no idea about the price. They have to contact the whisky manager to ask for information every time we ask for a price. In the end, we get to order nice drams. But it took us more than 30minutes. We’re in a region where many people come to visit distilleries. They really have an interest in trying nice whiskies. And this bar was such a nice place for that in the past. It’s not the case anymore. One of our friends wanted to order a glass of port wine. The prices listed were insane. We then realized it was the bottles and not by the glass. On other wines, there was a price for the bottle and a price for the glass. But here, nothing was mentioned. On top of that, the menus are dirty, have stains and fall apart. This is not what you’d expect from such a place. This is unacceptable for a 5 star hotel. I want to thank the two waiters who did their best to help us. This situation is definitely not their fault. And they had to find a way to make it work because somebody else did not do his job. I’ve been here many times in the past with professional people working in the whisky industry. This bar was such a beautiful place. But it really felt like a joke on this very last visit.

Me alojé aquí por dos noches para celebrar nuestro aniversario de bodas Ruby. Simplemente no nos podemos quejar: nos alojamos en una habitación exclusiva del castillo que era espaciosa, impecable y amueblada con un nivel muy alto. El salón de arriba tiene las ventanas de vidrio de piso a techo más increíbles que ofrecen fantásticas vistas sobre el lago y las colinas más allá. Tuvimos suerte con el clima que siempre ayuda, cielo azul y sol, aunque esa vista sería impresionante cualquier día. La primera noche comimos en la Brasserie, que también se beneficia de este maravilloso panorama. La comida era excelente al igual que el servicio del gran equipo de Fonab. La segunda noche lo celebramos con el menú degustación junto con el vuelo del vino: la perfección. Los vinos que normalmente no elegiríamos se combinaron perfectamente con las delicias que se ofrecen en la cocina; es fácil ver por qué Fonab tiene 3 rosetas AA para la comida. Todo el equipo de personal del hotel y del spa era amable y servicial, y nada fue un problema. El spa estaba completo cuando reservamos por primera vez, pero anoté mi nombre para una cancelación y, afortunadamente, apareció uno que mejoró toda la experiencia.El hotel está situado en unos jardines preciosos y bien cuidados junto al lago, pero a solo 20 minutos a pie de Pitlochry, en el precioso puente peatonal sobre el río Tummel.Definitivamente recomendaría este hotel a cualquiera que busque relajación, excelente comida y calidad en general.Esta hermosa propiedad cumple todos los requisitos.Estaremos de vuelta !Gracias a todos

Very limited menu, poor choice of wines, staff doing there best but lacking direction and not working as a team.

It was average and I had set my expectations higher. I love steak but my Fillet only just passed muster very disappointing. My views of what constituted medium rare were clearly at odds with the chef. The waiters were friendly and the service was timely.

had a fantastic time at Fonab Castle the brasserie is tastefully done with a beautiful view of the loch the staff very helpful could not fault the meal and breakfast served in the same place the whole experience was wonderful .

We stayed at Fonab last year and had a fantastic stay beautiful room, spotless clean! lovely clean warm pool and a lovely meal we were so impressed that my son purchased a voucher for myself and my husbands birthday April 2019 we then unfortunately had a terrible year both my parents had cancer and we had to make a 3 hour round trip daily for treatment in January 2020 I remembered about our voucher so phoned and asked if there was any possibility Fonab could extend the expiry date on the voucher I also offered to use it off season the lovely receptionist offered to put me through to the manager and the lady who picked up the phone was unhelpful and rude I simple tried to ask if it was possible to extend the date before I could even Finnish my question she said “no you have had a year to use it and we don’t offer extensions” she didn’t ask the reason why or even attempt to help in anyway! I was so tired and upset at the time I just left it but with time to reflect I have decided I will not use the voucher I would not want to stay at a hotel with so little compassion and such poor customer service I could not be any more disappointed we will never stay at this hotel again and would highly recommend that Fonab rethink their so called customer service!!!

£38 for a poor quality overpriced steak. Sides are extra. Burgers are unpleasantly gamey tasting not great for kids. Most of the waiting staff are snooty and unfriendly. Give it a miss and go to the Old Mill if you are staying at the castle.

We eat in the brasserie at Fonab fairly regularly for special occasions or when we have guests, and have always found the food to be of good quality and well cooked. However I’m afraid we won’t be rushing back after tonight’s meal. Our starters were fine as we’d expected. For our main course we ordered the special steak which we wished well done. It arrived barely lukewarm and underdone. We asked for it to be heated. Our waiter was very obliging and returned it to the kitchen. It was returned from the kitchen cold. We again returned it. By now our side orders were also getting cold so we ate most of them. The steak returned again barely lukewarm so again it was returned this time with less on the plate as we had tasted a sample each time. Eventually after four attempts we received a reasonably warm steak to eat with what was left of our now cold fries! The sweet which my husband had was fine, but this is not what you would expect of a five-star establishment. Once we could have considered a mistake, but four attempts before receiving our main meal at an acceptable temperature is not good enough. We cannot fault the waiting staff who dutifully returned our main meal to the kitchen each time without complaint. However we would be interested to know what happens in the kitchen when food is sent back to be heated!!

We decided to dine at Fonab Castle to celebrate our wedding anniversary.I was delighted to find that they would send a limousine to pick us up. Once there, the menu was excellent and service impeccable. A great evening was rounded off by a chauffeur driven return to our accommodation in the town.Will definitely do it again.

Ate here as well as in the Sandemanns restaurant during a recent stay. Service was good and the dining area is very pleasant. Food was above average with a reasonable choice and well cooked and presented. It just seemed a bit over priced and fell between good brasserie style food and the excellent food of Sandemanns.

Stumbled upon the castle whilst exploring and went in for lunch. Absolutely superb. Ended up going back for afternoon tea a couple of days later and was stuffed full. Service was great and view from the windows was worth a visit in itself.

A stunningly beautiful restaurant with spectacular views. The menu was rather sparse what we did have to eat was excellent though but would have liked to have seen a couple of chicken or pasta dishes included. The service was second to none .

Al final de nuestras vacaciones, decidimos disfrutar de una comida en la brasserie en el castillo de Fonab. Pedimos que nos informaran al halibut que no quedaba nada y no nos ofrecieron nada en su lugar. Luchamos con los elementos restantes en el menú porque no comemos carne roja. Decidí tener dos entrantes, el primero con un cóctel de gambas y aguacate. Me quejé de que no había avacado que me dijeron que era mi error porque no figuraba en el menú como avacado. El camarero comprobó y dijo que estaba en lo cierto y que había salsa de aguacate en la salsa. ! ! ! El gerente nunca se acercó a nosotros para preguntarnos qué estaba mal o tratar de ayudar con la situación. El taxista que estaba en casa dijo que allí también había tenido una mala comida y que nunca volvería. Por el precio, fue una comida muy mala y no volveremos.

Reservamos para el almuerzo del domingo, como lo habíamos hecho muchas veces anteriormente, invitando a amigos a unirse a nosotros. Sin embargo, no estábamos tan satisfechos con la experiencia como en ocasiones anteriores, que había sido excelente.

Por casualidad, el camino a Schiehallion estaba cerrado y tuvimos que regresar a Pitlochry por el lado Voss de Loch Tummel. Los colores fueron fantásticos! Nos topamos con el Fonab. Nos recibió el portero maltratado que nos hizo sentir bienvenidos. Sin una reserva, nos sentamos sin ninguna duda. We visited for a family lunch. Although all of the food we had was tasty, the lunchtime brasserie menu concept doesn't really work that well. When we visited, it mainly consists of slightly confusing tapas type dishes to be shared. Served progressively, as things were ready to come to the table, it didn't really work and the older members of our party found it quite confusing. Although we were aiming for a relaxed lunch, the service was quite slow, despite there being few diners.

We ate here one night and it was great. The service , the food were good. The second time we ate here the service was off and the food was over cooked. Service was sporadic. Not sure what happened the second time. Good for drinks and breakfast.

Das Essen war ein absoluter Traum.

Took some friends to Fonab for afternoon tea and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The 7 small 'taster menu' dishes were amazing, followed by lovely scones and cakes. As afternoon teas go this was nothing like anything we have experienced anywhere else. We could not fault it and would go back anytime. We were well looked after by Tom, who explained the dishes to us and some of the main ingredients were sourced from. The place is lovely and the views from the restaurant are stunning.

We were told we could not book for earlier than 8pm, when we turned up the brasserie restaurant was almost empty, any diners already there, and there were few of them were getting ready to leave, by the time our main course arrived the restaurant was almost empty. The door to the outside was repeatedly left open and we had to keep asking for it to be closed. The food was OK but was overpriced for what it was. This was a real disappointment as we had been before and this time brought our American friends we were a bit embarrassed by the overall experience.

We were fortunate enough to be able to eat in the Brasserie twice in two weeks! The first occasion was for my brother-in-law's 70th birthday. Dinner at this exquisite hotel is a very relaxed and tasty experience. The restaurant itself is a beautiful room on two levels overlooking the loch and castle garden with large windows. The decoration is subtly luxurious in this 5 star hotel and we felt very comfortable without being very dressed up. The young staff were very attentive and gave just the right amount of service - there when you needed them. The menu offers a careful range of locally sourced products which are presented in different ways to entice you to try - we suggested to a German family that they try the haggis bon bons as they had not eaten haggis and they really enjoyed them. The food is delicious across the whole menu. We had fresh bouillabaisse, a huge home made burger in a bun with chips and I had the corn fed poussin which had been paired off the bone and arranged on a bed of baby vegetables with sauteed potatoes . The food tasted really delicious. The choice of desserts made it difficult to choose and we opted for the Perthshire Strawberry which as well as being beautiful to look at was light as a feather and rather scrummy. I finished off with a glass of Sandeman's white port and coffee. It is worth mentioning that the choice of cheese boards is quite unusual as there are at least three. On our second visit we reversed our choices and enjoyed them all again.

The Brasserie is situated within the Fonab Castle Hotel on Loch Faskally and affords absolutely spectacular views. Service was great. From the Haggis Bon Bons to Gnocchi and Monkfish to the Dark Chocolate Pave and Perthshire Strawberries, our dining experience was second to none.

The brasserie like the hotel has plenty of pleasant staff, mostly Eastern European which is always a positive aspect in Scotland. However if they are not managed properly their skills go to waste. This hotel desperately needs a competent manager. Everything is there for the hotel to be one of, if not the best in Scotland but the manager sabotages this. Please please invest in a manager who is worthy and capable of running this potentially wonderful venue.

Was so looking forward to our first visit to this restaurant but was not impressed. The location is great and the service was fine but the meal did not live up to expectations. The portions are small and the prices are big, (8 mussels and a spoonful of sauce £10). There was a special on of roast venison which I chose and it was very nice although the 3 small pieces left me looking for more. Most of the wine list is upwards of £30 but one of the more affordable proved to be perfectly drinkable.

With a spectacular view, dinner at the Fonab Castle Brasserie was superb. Great choices excellent presentation and delicious food. I recommend it highly

Incredibly disappointed with my visit to fonab brasserie last night. Took my partner out for a celebratory birthday meal and when returning home from our meal I was violently sick. I contacted fonab to communicate this to the manager and make the hotel aware that the meal had made me severely unwell. Unfortunately the customer service was incredibly poor and the manager did not offer any apropriate reimbursement as ‘no other customers had reported sickness’.

Went to the brasserie with local friends and was given a free lift there and back. The surroundings are amazing with amazing views. The food and service was top notch. Met the owner who showed us the dining pods just outside the brasserie. Very nice guy who gave some of the history of how it was a ruin when he bought it.

Como nos presionaron antes de un espectáculo nocturno en el teatro, tuvimos una cena allí (10 minutos a pie del teatro). El servicio fue excelente, fueron muy atentos con respecto a mi problema con el ajo y se aseguraron de que no hubiera ninguno en mi plato (parece que les gusta su ajo, pero pudieron mantener lo que yo tenía sin ajos, siempre es una buena señal de que La comida está recién preparada y cocinada). Mi esposo tenía poussin y yo teníamos truchas, y ambas eran muy sabrosas (un poquito nouvelle cuisine en términos de tamaño de la porción, así que no es genial para aquellos con un gran apetito) y muy bien presentada. El postre era agradable, pequeño pero rico, así que, esta vez, pequeño funcionó bien.

Positives- stunning setting, really, really friendly staff. Negatives- slow service; expensive for what it is- prices are high end....but they charge for bread? ( come on Fonab....this is high street stuff) and food quality variable.

We ate here while staying at the castle. Extensive wine list, we chose an excellent bottle of Malbec, and started with a huge bowl of harissa coated olives. My wife had a separate vegan menu, which had loads of choice, and chose the broccoli (and pea?) soup, excellent flavour and lots of it. I chose the garlic ravioli which had a wonderful creamy filling, but only two pieces ? Seriously ? Two ? for £9.50 ?

Precioso aquí, encantador restaurante en un entorno precioso. Los entrantes y los postres eran encantadores, pero los dos teníamos bistecs y nos decepcionó un poco debido a la forma en que nos describieron como envejecidos en un proceso de sal himalyiana, así que nos dijeron que no serían tan rojos / sangrientos como cabría esperar si Ordenado medio / raro. Cuando los conseguimos, parecían estar cocinados medio a muy bajo, no muy tiernos y un poco escaso, ese es nuestro único problema con este lugar.

Third time at Fonab, and every time seems better than the last. Food is impeccable. Customer service second to none. Surroundings are stunning. All in all, first class.

We had a special dinner to celebrate the 70th birthday with a table with a view on the lake .All was very well served and food of excellent quality . It is really worth to go to this place!

Dining at the brasserie is simply stunning. Their passion for food is tasted in every bite. We had the mushroom soup and haggis Bon bons for starter, pork and lamb for mains followed by cheese board and chocolate tart. Breakfast is so good. No buffet style. Just order what you fancy and mix it up if you want. I cannot wait to return. Well done to all at Fonab.

Disfruté de un excelente almuerzo aquí desde el menú de precio fijo. Comida bien elaborada y bien presentada, servida por personal profesional en una glamorosa y moderna extensión del antiguo hotel castillo. Nos sorprendió que no hubiera más gente cenando. La brasserie ofrece vistas al río Tummel y al hermoso lago Tummel y al campo natural de los alrededores. Un entrante de 'salmón ahumado' vino como tres rebanadas de 5 mm de grosor de salmón curado con ralladura de limón confitado, gel de limón y fragmentos de hinojo en escabeche. Gran calidad, sabores encantadores. Una mini baguette recién horneada acompañada de un plato de mantequilla con cúpula personal. Un plato principal de 'pollo de primavera' era jugoso, tierno y sabroso, con papas asadas, un delicioso jus ligero y verduras de temporada (¿puerros pequeños?). El único inconveniente de esto fue la suave y suave piel de pollo que hubiera sido deliciosa servida como crujiente / crujiente. Un postre de limón se remató con sorbete de ruibarbo y nuggets crujientes con un remolino de malvavisco tostado. Muy dulce y demasiado merengue quizás, pero atractivo y una buena combinación de sabores y texturas. No es una alternativa barata al almuerzo, pero vale la pena el extra por una experiencia gastronómica especial. Lo recomendaría y volveré.

As usual, a most wonderful meal! We dine here on a regular basis - annually!! Each year, we love the expectation, the experience and then the recall later, at home. Today, lunch was beautifully prepared, presented and served once again. Thank You! And also to Elma in The Spa for kindly spending time with us!

Staff are fantastic, attentive and friendly. The food is outstanding. I enjoyed the fillet steak, perfectly cooked, just perfect. Hubby has the burger which was well cooked as he likes it and chips are brilliant.

Had a luxurious 1 night stay in the Castle Suite, room was gorgeous, comfortable a d service second to none however....We were going to dine in the 'Sandemans' fine dining restaurant but changed to the Brasserie as my husband cant eat fish and their chef couldn't substitute any of the fish dishes???? Brasserie looked lovely but, I had the seafood bisque which was so salty it was inedible. My husband had the rib eye steak which was also incredibly salty so he had to return it No apology but replaced the steak with a less salty version. The apple tart tatin was a flop also. It is such a shame that a 5 star hotel with great service & stunning venue lets itself down by hiring a sub standard chef. If it was my hotel he'd be long gone!!!

We had a wonderful day at Fonab Castle with a spa day and then the most amazing afternoon tea. Spa was excellent - really enjoyed the facial I’d booked and after a bit of relaxation we headed over to sample the new afternoon tea. We’d had a call in advance to explain that the menu had changed and they were introducing a new seven course tasting afternoon tea. We didn’t know what to expect but were absolutely blown away by the seven individual dishes we sampled before the most delicious range of cakes and scones. Huge compliments to the chef and team for coming up with this new concept - the tempura oyster remained the highlight of the seven dishes. I’d highly recommend Fonab - we had a great time.

We ate Dinner here during our recent stay at Fonab and found the food tasty and served by excellent Staff who were very attentive and friendly without being too familiar. I chose the Salmon starter which was lovely and steak for my main with red wine jui which I can certainly recommend. A good wine list is available to suit your budget. In the day time there is a lovely view from the Brasserie and would be a good choice for lunch.
