Great experience for all ages revisiting the ages of war.

Interesting museum, well organised.

Went to the cafe and had a lovely lunch. Then took my family around the museum. I have been several times before and each time I enjoy it. All of the staff are friendly and informative.

Full of History surrounding Black Watch

Great place to learn about the Black Watch. Very nice gift shop and a good place to get a meal.

I didn't visit the museum itself, I was meeting friends in the cafe, but it was very clean with a good atmosphere and some lovely soup

Awesome museum in a beautiful castle and an awesome staff also, completing with little stories and explanations, loved it. A very fantastic and moving travel through the history of the regiment, its emblems, its wars and its soldiers. Would definitely come again in a few years.

Excellent museum showing not only the regiments history but also touching on Scottish and world history. We paid a little extra for the guided tour which was very much worth it. The shop and the bistro were also very good.

Amazing restaurant with a good selection of food, very clean, and very happy staff. I had the salad, which was amazing, very enjoyable. I would say a little expensive but was delicious. Was able to order a smaller portion for my wife. She enjoyed the food too.

Quite an astonishing experience Jim provided us, with his marvelous and passionate insights into the Black Watch’s history and culture. Anyone who finds themselves in this lovely town, must, I repeat, must pay this lovely museum a visit, with Jim’s tour for sure. -Pedro and Joana

Only went to cafe. Lovely place with great food. Went for lunch and was surprised by the good quality of food. It's definitely not cheap, with a panini costing £10 and baked potato £11. However was surprised to see it comes with coleslaw, couscous, salad and crisps. Staff were friendly and the place was warm. Didn't go into the museum.

An absolutely magnificent museum! A must-visit if you are interested in History! The most beautiful war museum I have visited! Even better than the one in Budapest.

Had a catch-up with a few friends here. The food is great and I didn't have to book it. There's plenty of parking outside. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat. I plan to visit again.

Wonderful. Beautiful setting and holds a special place in my heart as my dad was in the Black Watch. Lovely place to visit.

We paid for the tour and are glad we did. Easy to spend several hours at the displays and then there’s a lovely cafe too.

Though a little ways out from town, this is quite a welcoming and intimate place. The history surrounding this place is immense and beguiling, and I loved immersing myself in it during my trip here. Seeing the stately walls and verdant gardens, I felt a great warmth, an assurance that hospitality and elegance can prosper even this far in the frigid North in the winter. Note that the cafe bursts with energy and vivacity. After a long and frigid walk through the parks north of Perth, I was taken aback by such an eruption of light and conviviality. It's a wonderful little haven, and I greatly recommend the gift shops, which somehow feel more distinct and unique and gift shops I have seen elsewhere in Scotland.

The museum was really good, the bistro wasn’t. The smallest bowl of soup I have ever had served me and apparently there is one smaller. The open sandwich is obviously a move to cut down on expenses and not to be more Scandinavian , the one slice of bread was so thin and limp . 1 open chicken ceasar sandwich 1 bowl of soup and 1 coke … just short of £20 . I don’t often write negative reviews or reviews generally but ripping people off is not on .

Best bacon roll ever. Update. Still amazing bacon rolls

The museum is very interesting and well displayed. It has an excellent and reasonably priced gift shop. The staff who dealt with tickets and sales in the gift shop were very friendly, polite and helpful. The cafe is lovely but on asking politely about seating we were spoken to with sarcasm. It was difficult to attract the attention of staff when we wanted to pay.

Visited with friends for lunch, staff were very helpful, food was excellent. Lovely place to visit for food, the menu is varied and the cakes are lovely. The prices are very reasonable would recommend.

Attended a private function and it was fantastic. The staff were the highlight of the venue. So inviting, friendly and helpful. Stunning scenery and grounds. The museum is bursting with lovely merchandise. Definitely worth a visit

Great experience and must see in Perth

We visited as a bit of a spur-of-the-moment thing, with no real expectations, but I'm really glad we did. The museum, according to the very lovely gentleman working there, has had a redesign, and it flows so seamlessly and tells a very compelling story. Our 6 year old even had a fun challenge that he thoroughly enjoyed (including the prize at the end...!) I could have spent far longer in there looking at all of the exhibits. Had to skip the cafe as we ran out of time!

Delighted we managed to see The Hauntings, which is a very impressive sculpture. Strongly recommend visiting this ghostly soldier at Halloween.

Fab museum if you are interested in the military. Didn't try the cafe as it was busy on the day. Your ticket is for all day so you can come and go.

We visited end of day so did not go inside. They have a nice café and gift shop (no entry fee) and the exterior with its monumental sculpture is fascinating to see. Quite a beautiful setting!

A lovely museum dedicated to The Black Watch regiment. C Very interesting and enlightening. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Lovely coffee shop/ restaurant attached. Beautiful room of rememberence for peaceful meditation and reflection. Walls adorned with all the names of the fallen troops.

I visited the restaurant with my young son. I ordered a children’s meal for him and a soup for myself. I got a small plastic cup of orange squash for him and a Diet Coke for myself. The drink for him was £2!!!! And the Diet Coke was £3.50!!!!. I nearly choked. The service wasn’t great. I was aware that they offer cushions for the children and pens and colouring in sheets but I didn’t get any offered until I asked if we could get some. When I paid my bill I asked for the receipt and the gentleman passed me the receipt. I noticed that my receipt said £6 for the soup so I grabbed the menu again to double check and it said £5.50. When I asked the gentleman he said ‘ oh yeah but you had the chunky soup so it’s £6. I genuinely just wanted to know where the ‘ chunky soup’ was advertised and by his reaction I realised that he had no idea what he was talking about and I was felt slightly embarrassed. He just left me standing and walked over to a lady and I heard him saying ‘ she wants to speak to you. Until that point I really Just wanted to know what ‘ chunky soup’ was but it became really uncomfortable. The manager came over and she was lovely. She said it was a mistake and refunded me the difference. Obviously mistakes can happen all the time but I really felt the gentleman who dealt with the request could have just been honest instead of trying to come up With a reason why it is £6. All in all we won’t return as it was completely overpriced! Lots of other lovely establishments closer to town.

Fantastic in every way. My tour guide, Jim Paterson, was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting. This is a MUST VISIT in Scotland.

Well presented great military meseum

Wow, what a wonderful area to explore & enjoy! The Hauntings sculpture is awesome - a must see. The three ladies we spoke to had so much knowledge & enthusiasm for The Black Watch & we have been enjoying the gin and preserve we bought. ¡Muchas gracias!

New visit. Went for breakfast. No toast on menu and was told I could get it when asked. Yippee. Now bearing in mind they must have bread for other menu items, I was expecting a nice bread toasted. The toast was thin and from a big standard loaf. Friend had Eggs Benedict which looked and tasted delicious. Only issue was that the muffin was thin, similar to those 'healthier' muffins. Went to see 'The Haunting' sculpture. Which is worth a visit. Cafe nice and prices a bit dearer than in town. Scone nice as is the Sticky Toffee cake slice.

Excellent place to visit great history,very helpful and attentive staff with a great welcome in the shop and cafe (our food was hot and tasty) my photos are of the 6mtr sculpture at the castle entrance made completely from scrap metal,really impressed by our whole visit

Service was slow and the prices were very high . We were charged £4.95 for a hot chocolate ! Wouldn’t go back there

Extent place to visit, the staff are all very helpful. It's also has a nice large restaurant for lunch and afternoon teas. eat. It's so popular it's busy during lunchtime. But the staff will book you a table.

Black watch was my grandad tartan and since doing the family tree found out so much more and had to come to see for myself Lots of work and effort has gone into this and need to do some more investigating of my own on other things we found at the museum on my side of family and now my husband's So thank you to all staff

Was give a present for a breakfast and guided tour of this historic military tribute to the Black Watch. On entering the front door we were warmly greeted BY JIM. After being lead to our reserved table, the lovely lady told us our preorded breakfast was been prepared. Breakfast and cuppa was totally hot fresh and enjoyable. Thanks to the cook. After all wee top up of drinks, we were taken and introduced to Jim. Our tour guide. The tour was one of the best I have ever had. From the beginning to the end we had a fantastic insight to the Black Watch, Jim's knowledge was outstanding and given in a variety of different languages. The speed of the tour was perfect and totally informative and amazing. War is not a subject that suits all. But Jim's understanding of this subject and sense humanity was very much appreciated. This is a place that holds many stories and will take a few visits to complete to understand the importance and respect to all who have fallen. We left this place with a better understanding and sence of pride to those who gave their lives. Thank you all for the the dedication and time to allow us the name Black Watch.

A true Hongkonger must visit the Black Watch Museum. This museum is full of the history of the Black Watch where you can see a lot of photos and exhibits about the connections between the Black Watch and British Hong Kong. The flag of British Hong Kong which was used during the handover ‘ceremony’ is exhibited there. This recalls a lot of unforgettable memories British Hongkongers left behind, and those being left behind.

Popped in for a quick bite and saw this amazing sculpture just outside the castle entrance. It's called The Hauntings. Very impressive. Food in the bistro was lovely good service and very clean. Very friendly staff.

Great place with super friendly and chatty stuff, ladie at the tickets office was absolutely amazing. The tour started with a 6-minute presentation video, but don't worry, it's quite interesting, and time goes quickly. There are 11 galleries, and it's all very interesting.

Great place to visit if your in Perth lots of relevant info with good displays

An absolute must do. I did the guided tour (highly recommended) through the castle and museum. Our guide had an amazing amount of knowledge about the black watch and all other Scottish regiments from all over the Commonwealth. Of course you don't have to have a guide. You can wander around the museum at your leisure but to get the best experience go for the guided tour.

Had lunch here today with friends. Food was very fresh and well presented. The cost was way overpriced. Decaf coffee an extra 30 pence.. we did wonder why it was very quiet at a weekend lunch time. Now we know. Will we be back. Sorry no

Top Shop and Museum. Nice Staff. As Berliners we say thank you Black Watch protecting our City bevor 1989.

A very friendly and pleasant experience. We went in, bought tickets at the till, and enjoyed a journey through the building's various exhibit items. I did not appreciate before the role of the Black Watch, but now I do: the Museum served its purpose. This would have been five stars, but I was unable to book tickets online for the date selector threw errors, and my email to ask for guidance was responded to the next day.

Welcomed by lovely informative staff on our arrival who gave us a map and a quick run down of what to expect on our visit (also a game to keep the kids interested). It was really well laid out with lots of amazing historical artefacts and interesting information. Nice gift shop, lovely cafe and great kids play area. Definitely worth the visit.

Really interesting museum about the very varied history of the Black Watch. Some very interesting displays.

A great way to spend a morning or afternoon, learning the incredible history of The Black Watch. Very well curated and laid out, the exhibition was both enjoyable and informative. There was also a treasure trail that our kids enjoyed completing as we toured around. The Bistro Restaurant was a great way to end our tour, enjoying coffees and cake in a lovely environment with table service. The staff onsite were all lovely and friendly and there was a small carpark available with plenty parking nearby also. We took a short walk from town (about 15 minutes) and it was easy to find.

El castillo está junto a un río que va discurriendo ladera abajo con muchas cascadas. El sitio es precioso. Hay plantas gigantescas y parece que estuviésemos en Jurasic Park. Muy recomendable.

Excellent. Very interesting and informative. We found details of a family member of the BW who fell during WW1, in the book of remembrance. Nice staff on hand and the cafe was also very nice. Highly recommended.

We visited the cafe for some lunch we had to wait in a que for ages before we were agnoleged then were told he had to wait back in the que to order food. The staff seemed either way understaffed and over worked but they were very dismissive. We got a kids sandwich and a panini Both the bread was quite stale when we brought this to the attention of staff she was not very helpful. Eventually offering an icecream for the child as compensation.

Was only outside in the court yard,as they didn't allow dogs but allowed service dogs

We went to see The Hauntings. WOW! Sitting with coffee in the sun and taking in the sculpture was very special and powerful. The volunteer guide was interesting and informative.

Being against all wars it was quite moving to read and see the sacrifices they made. Most of them just young lads on a promise of adventure. Spent more time than I should but it has marvellous rooms with all sorts of regalia of the regiment and it's history. Will visit again as I want to spend more time. Didn't visit cafe but looked really nice. Check out huge soldier at entrance

Good museum, very informative, however there is quite a lot of reading, I would have preferred an audio guide.

Wanted to go for years a finally did it, found it Good informative and found my granddad on the wall of soldiers where he served and with what company, a great day for me to remember him by.

Alwyas fabulous food in the cafe and the museum is excellent with always changing exhibitions and curation. New statue about to be revealed outside in the photograph.

Really thoughtful and excellent history and displays of the regimental development over the centuries, lots of detail and interesting artefacts, well laid out and with fun interactions. The cafe must be good as it was packed out when we went! A very worthwhile visit.

There is so much to see at this museum you could spend a full day the. The guided tour is well worth taking.

Great place for military buffs, cafe excellent, exhibit rooms over a couple of floors and landings so may make access a challenge for wheel chairs possibly.
