Guidos in Glasgow City

We ate here last night. After having nearly 2 years of indifferent, overpriced, deliveries from other restaurants, it was a pleasure to dine here at Guido's! Can't remember when last had such a perfectly cooked fish tea! ( Probably last time we were here pro-covid!) Batter was everything s good batter should be - golden, crisp and full of flavout! Served with lovely chips, tea and a buttered roll. Great service, great food and spotlessly clean.

We had takeaway sausage and hamburger supper. Chips were ok but overall food was very disappointing.

Just had a fish supper from here ... im usually very wary of bones in fish, byt this was perfect ... actually finished the whole fish (which i never do) ... it was amazing... the chips were delicious too 👍

Had a lovely lunch of the 2 course lunch menu 12-3pm £7.95,my partner ate from the main menu, (average prices)we had minestrone soup and bruschetta to start and both were delicious, and to follow gnocchi and a lasagne style dish, we were both stuffed and could only manage coffee to finish, our bill was £33 including 2 sodas, and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. It was a very busy restaurant, loads of tables, but perhaps book as we did to avoid disappointment. Would definite visit again.

I have had fish suppers from here a few times over the last few years. Always fabulous food, they changed hands at some point but fish suppers still great! However, I visited last night and suspect it had changed hands again? 25 min wait, not a problem for me as it would be freshly cooked fish and chips, I live literally a 5 min drive away and what a disappointment when I opened up my food. There was more batter on the fish than fish and quite soggy. The chips were poor, hardly any decent sized chips, loads of potato scrag ends, not good. So disappointed as I was so looking forward to it. We couldn’t finish it for the reasons I’ve just said, so I probably won’t return in the future which is a shame.

Best fish and chips in Shawlands, went in for a special fish supper, beautiful flaky piece of haddock which was freshly cooked to order. Chips were great. Would highly recommend as it’s been there for so many years which is always a good sign!!

Delicious and freshly cooked. Staff can sometimes be a bit off but I’m not there for the banter !!! Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Have had a few meals from here and always been fine. however i ordered a fish supper and when it came there were more bones in it than fish. Couldn't eat it at all, so I phoned to let them know and the customer service was absolutely shocking. I couldn't believe the way I was spoken to. So for that I won't be ordering there again. Absolute disgrace.

just awful!! food disgusting! was sent out of date juice and charged for 2l but only got 1.5l. when we phoned to complain we were told we would get free juice next time......definitely never going to be a next time!!! don't waste your money!!!!!!

The crispy batter on the fish was fantastic

Fab fish and chips from our local hippie! Was promptly delivered and well packaged! Only thing that slightly irked me was that there were some black pieces from the fryer in amongst our suppers and don't see that elsewhere in another local chippy we order from. I'd say new fryers might be worth investing in. But overall good food and decent prices.

Friendly, prompt service with everything cooked fresh and served in great insulated containers. Good fish and batter. Always happy to give you just the right amount of salt and vinegar!

Delivery time as always is excellent with Guido's. However as a regular customer I was disappointed with my fish supper. The fish portion (cod) was very small (approx 6in) and for the price I expected a larger meal. I did take a photo but cannot upload it. I recognise that my order was very late and not long before the store closed so it was probably the only fish left? However if that was the case, i could have been made aware and possibly would have considered an alternative from the menu. This is unusual from Guido's as food is nearly always excellent.

Very good fish and chips. Our favourite in the Southside. Nothing fancy just decent food and very reasonably priced.

Can't comnent on the food as it hasnt turned up. Very poor service. App says the order has been delivered and its now half hour later and I'm still waiting for it. Won't be ordering from here again

Have ordered a few times and have always been very happy with meal and delivery service.

Calamari was crunchy n tasted burnt. Even once crumbs were taken off the rings were dry n tasteless. The fish supper was nice. The burger was bland n not seasoned like eating my shoe in a burger bun.

Ordered at around 7.20pm with delivery time of 8.20pm given. Waited patiently thinking restaurant must be busy because of Christmas.. but order never arrived.

Best chip shop in the south side of Glasgow, foods amazing and the staff are lovely, would definitely recommend people to give them a try.

Food was cold. Warm coke. Chips were obviously reheats and were all thin and horrible. Burger was more batter than meat. Disappointed to say the least and I will be looking for a new chip shop for deliveries.

Totally amazing service. Came Before Time stated. The meal was hot and well cooked. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

Honestly the worst Cod I've ever had. Tasteless, dry and I spent half the time trying to scrape the skin off the batter (which was also nothing special). For over £7 for a cod and chips this place was a huge disappointment. I definitely will not be ordering from here again.

Delivery time is a 4 instead of a 5 as the waiting time and arrival time differed substantially from the messages

Wasn't the best very dry bbq rib steak in a breadcrumb coating which was burnt ..pizza very dry and hard ..chips very greasy ..all in all 1st time try ..won't be back sorry

Arrived early, food was phenomenal! Great fish supper, hot and crispy and the onion rings were proper fresh made and not frozen. Really really good! Will absolutely without question use them again. Fantastic!

I have always loved this chip shop and the gentleman who works (maybe owns?) in there is so lovely and the food is great! Tonight I ordered through just eat and there was a small error with our order and to rectify it the gentleman himself came all the way to ours to bring the food and couldn't apologise enough which I thought was absolutely lovely!!! Fantastic customer service!!!

This restaurant changed ownership about a year ago and we were concerned standard would drop. Delighted to say the new owners (Italian still ) have maintained a real homely traditional fish and chip shop. Special fish is excellent as is the fish in batter. Well worth a visit and sit in as we did and enjoy piping hot food.

Guido's is a nice local Chippy, the quality of fish is good and they have the best pizza crunchy ever, we often visit for a takeaway.

Yeah was lovely. But asked for only vinegar on the fish. But it was on haggis and also covered in salt. Which I never asked for. Can't review take away as I never ordered that way!

Awesome lil chippy, has been for decades. Used to live in the close above Guidos 25 years ago and it was as good then as it is now!

Good old cashed chippy. I had the small fish tea which was plenty big enough and my partner had the big one, also with a really big portion of lovely crunchy onion rings on the side. All of it was really good, and the lady who served us was lovely. It makes all the difference when you get good service too.

Order arrived to quick for it to be fresh . Fish supper cold and greasy . Batter soggy . Inedible .

Our fish and chip meal was delivered really quickly, within 20 minutes of ordering. The fish was freshly cooked with lovely crispy batter. The chips were also freshly made and piping hot when we received them. I would not hesitate in ordering online from Guido's in the future, our meal was perfect. Thanks 😀

Best in shawlands, a shawlands institution!the family who own it go out their way to make sure the service is friendly and efficient even on the busy nights.

Made the switch from Marios in Giffnock to Guidos on a whim. Turned out to be a great decision. Better value better taste better service. Not that there's much wrong with Marios but Guidos edges it.

Just enjoyed a delicious fish tea in Guideo's. The takeaway was really busy but organised, restaurant was quiet & peaceful. Served by a lovely lady called Melle.Service was quick & food fresh & hot. Price was very reasonable too. Thank you!

First time in a long time. Has the original family who owned it sold up ?I used to know Guido himself his wife and boys were great too Had a special fish supper and a normal fish supper. Loads in each portion. Probably one between two next time!!Thanks to the new ( I think ) staffWill be back

EXACTLY what a good chhippee should be: basic, good, fresh and good value -- and always cheerful, as well. The taste that you remember from childhood.

The staff are always friendly and have a chat. Best fish supper and they also have sauce for us East coasters. Wouldn't go anywhere else for our Friday night chippy.

We both had the large fish tea, two slice of haddock, chips , peas , bread and tea £7:95 , really nice fresh and warm, it was busy with take aways and all the tables were taken but the woman serving was very nice and attentive, well done keep up the good work
