We came here on a Thursday, in late March, without booking, and very little prep. Drove in, parked up, (£5.50 all day) hired a bike (£22 half day, £25 full day) had a steady ish ride to the end of the trail and back, could have easily made it into Bakewell and back too before our 4 hours were up, but decided to had the bikes in and have coffee and cake in the cafe, cafe had lots of tables inside and out, and a well populated menu. Name your table number and your drinks are brought out. All in all a very smooth service on both counts.

We met these sociable Macaws in the Hassop Station Cafe, whilst enjoying an excellent flat white coffee and gluten free brownie. The cafe is a very well appointed, light and airy space to warm up after a wet cold bike ride along the full length of the Monsal Trail. Thoroughly recommended

Took two friends who were visiting us in the Peak District, and although busy (it was a Sunday) the service was quick and the food choices were extensive. We then took a leisurely stroll to Monsall viaduct to walk of a few calories. Would definitely recommend, but if you can avoid weekends as it is extremely busy.

This used to be a railway station many years ago and is the perfect place to park and walk along the Monsal Trail ( the old railway line ) There is a large carpark and the cafe / gift shop has a small area with free parking. If you intend to walk park in the other areas. They provide a large out-door seating area half of which is covered for less sunny days. There are toilets and dog bowls with a supply of fresh water. Indoors the building Is divided in two. One side is cafe the other half is gifts. The cafe serves delicious home made food and a good variety of drinks, both hot and cold. There is indoor seating and it is dog friendly. The gift shop is full of delightful things and plenty to tempt. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall the perfect place to start or end your walk. ENJOY

Pizza van & quick serve kiosk outside cafe now but neither open when we visited on a weekday lunchtime. Large seating areas indoor & out (covered). Friendly, speedy service. Next door is a large book shop & there is also cycle hire on site. Big car park, reasonable charges. Great start/end point for walking or cycling on the Monsal Trail.

Has the atmosphere and character of a busy motorway service station. The staff are rude unfriendly and don't care about customer service. I was asked for my table number at the café, which I didn't know, so I pointed to the table my partner was on, which was 5 metres away. The lady just shrugged her shoulders and said "I'm not serving you until I have your table number" So I said "ok give me 5 seconds I'll go and check it" and ran to the table and back. In the 5 seconds I was gone she had already started serving the next person and I was expected to go to the back of the queue of 7 people. I was absolutely gobsmacked how unreasonable she was. Needless to say we walked out and drove up the road to Thorbridge Hall cafe, which was every bit as good as this place was bad.

Lovely place, went to see the Waxwings, coffee from the hut, lovely walks. One negative all drivers need to know. The car park ticket machine appears to be connected to a 56k modem plus years of hardened usage means some buttons respond better than others. Particularly the button to link up to card/contact less payments. This results in much frustration, queueing, delays etc. One saving grace is by the time you've seen three users in a row tearing their hair out after several failed transactions, you know its the machine and not the user. The owners should have serious words with whoever runs the car park and get it sorted.

My partner and called for a sandwich and a coffee. We asked for one gluten free cheese and ham toastie..Unfortunately, I was given ordinary bread...NOT,GLUTEN FREE. Anyone knowing the outcome of this dilatory mistake will understand just how ill I have been. The after effects of eating Gluton causes so much disruption to your body,It is unbelievable..After all the allergy training these so called chefs have, to make this kind of mistake is absolutely diabolical, and, could be fatal.....Simply not good enough.... I also agree with a previous review relating to the toilets.. I appreciate you are busy, but that is no excuse for grubby loos.. The moral of my review is....BEWARE TO ANYONE WITH AN ALLERGY..

If this is for the guest house it was lovely and comfortable. Bed could do with fixing together better and headboard. Dressing gowns were a lovely touch to walk to the separate gorgeous bathroom down the hall. Could do with extra coat hangers or hooks on back of the doors to hang coats etc. Also some type of air freshener for the damp/ wet dogs smell in the room. Beautiful views out of the windows if you look beyond the roundabout. Not totally soundproof but traffic doesn't disrupt your stay. Nice having a parking space outside and very handy being right next to the cafe with the beautiful trail on your doorstep. (Was exceptional place and very pricey so you would expect the place to be clean especially the toilets). The food and service was excellent and big portions. We would definitely recommend staying here and would go again. Also check out the lads at the bike hire shop, well recommended for an e- bike made life alot easier as I had disabilities.

We have visited a couple of times recently. I am pleased that you have reverted to the original menu. The food has been excellent. However, on both occasions I have noticed that the standard of cleanliness in the ladies toilets and in the cafe has been poor. Lavatories had not been cleaned recently and ran out of toilet rolls despite space for several refills. Obviously people will wear hiking boots but the floor in the cafe was filthy and the table was sticky and had not been wiped . Cutlery was also not very clean. Your way of putting cutlery out for guests to rummage through is not hygienic. The stall were friendly and helpful though run off their feet. I would rather pay more for the food if the increase went towards pay for efficient cleaners who attended on a daily basis.

Because we are socially distancing we ordered food and drink to take out (it was a cold day so we wanted to sit in our car to eat it) The hot drinks were served a long time ahead of the food meaning my husband took the drinks to the car and by the time I joined him with the food my drink was already starting to go cold. It was a gingerbread latte, served with a tiny biscuit in the cream topping. The biscuit had sunk and was a soggy mess in the bottom when I finally got to drink it. The food was lovely but when ordering to take out food and drink should be served together

Tasty meal in the dining room which was seasonally decorated. The only criticism was that both the Victoria sponge cake I had and the chocolate flake cake consumed by companion were a bit dry. We enjoyed out steak and ale pie / fish, chips, mushy pea meals immensely. The mulled wine hit the spot on a wet, grey drizzly late afternoon. I probably would have spent more time looking in the giftshop and might have made a purchase if it had been a little warmer (I just wanted to get to a big cup of tea.)
