Hawksmoor Guildhall in City of London, Westminster

I'm sure it's getting worse here, used to be amazing. The fillet steak didn't have a lot of flavour to it. The cocktails aren't the best, for a few of them they put a long bar of ice and the cup is filled a third of the way of drink. Service wasn't great either.

I saw the English full breakfast on TV and thought I had to go there, and it was really delicious. Even though it was morning time, there were quite a few people and the staff were very gentle, just like the image that comes to mind when you think of England.

Food was great and service was very good. It is a little pricey.

Miserable staff. Steak over seasoned on one end almost inedible. Bleak atmosphere. 3rd visit but this time dreadful.

British steak, ordered a Sunday Rost, Personally, I thought the steak was a little tough, but it was delicious, and the grilled scallops were great. The service staff are very friendly and the restaurant atmosphere is very comfortable. Those who come for sightseeing can give it a try.

Excellent service and the food was awesome. It was expensive, but worth it once in a while.

I went here for the traditional Sunday roast, which is priced at £27. While this seemed a little pricey, I think it was worth trying. The roast was served with potatoes, cabbage, carrots, roasted garlic, pudding (bread), horseradish, and gravy.

I came for dinner tonight and was so pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was lovely, the food and drinks were also great, but I must say our server Daniel was incredible.. very kind attentive and bubbly, he really took the experience to the next level and so grateful he took care of us :) cannot praise him enough for his lovely service, thank you so much Daniel and the rest of the team!

Not the first Hawksmoor I've been to, but this has been my most disappointing visit to date. Very bad acoustics, confused and slow service (it's a problem in London these days), and honestly waiting over 1 hour to have a simple steak during a busy business lunch is unacceptable. I'm willing to continue being a patron of other branches, but unfortunately this one I'm crossing off my list. Please improve the acoustics of your main dining hall. It's unbearable.

I really enjoyed the food there, starters, steak and sides were tasty and nothing to fault. It is a busy place even mid-week and the noise level is very high, this was the mail downfall for me.

All items were perfection. Exceeded expectations in taste and texture. Cooks were on point. Filet was better than any place...and I would submit...surpasses Manny's in Minneapolis. Simple presentation for.me is always the best. Sides were complimentary and blended well. Enjoyable evening and atmosphere....perfect for a collegial meeting after a long day of meetings. MICHELIN quality without pretense. Highly recommend!

We had the roast dinner which was good. The staff were not very friendly & the drinks were quite slow coming.

Sunday roast was delicious. Service was even better. We really enjoyed our time here during our first visit to London.

Came here for a birthday treat. The wine we had was delicious as was the food. However I think it was quite expensive for what is was which is why I gave it four stars as I'm not sure I would go back again. The pork rib special was great though.

This is a very special place: divine steak, excellent cocktails and an exceptional wine list. The staff are so friendly and attentive that you feel special.

This was my second time to come here. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. However, I will say they consistently mess up my order. Tonight was no exception – I came here with four work colleagues and we each ordered steak. Each of my coworkers’ steaks were cooked to order except for mine: a medium rare comes out well done. Ten minutes after delivery, our waitress comes to the table to check on us and I tell her mine is not right. She checks with the kitchen and it will be about 15-20 minutes before a replacement can be brought out. I declined, as by that time my coworkers were nearly finished with their meal. While they did remove the charge for me, I left hungry as well as disappointed, again, as for the second time in a row my meal was ruined by the staff. It’s not cheap eating here. I would highly recommend you look for another place to dine.

Exceptional service and divine steaks! I was very impressed

We chose this place to try the Sunday roast on Sunday for lunch and we were very satisfied! Generous portion, delicious both chicken and beef accompanied by potatoes, pudding and vegetables with truly spectacular gravy. We also paired cauliflower with cheese and another side dish. Very nice and particular place, the staff truly excellent: very friendly and helpful Italian waiter.

Great dining, food was delicious and the staff were very attentive. Thank you for your effort on making our anniversary perfect.

Went to Hawksmoor Guildhall for lunch today - great food and service. I didn’t know this restaurant is huge! As always, our steaks were delicious and well seasoned. We shared pavlova for dessert. Defo will come here again for work lunch, highly recommended.

Very hospitable staff and very good service. The food was generally good, although one of our steaks was much smaller than the other.

Very consistent and well proportioned Sunday lunch once again at Hawksmoor Guildhall. Attentive service without being being fussy and a great wine list to choose from. Will definitely come again.

Convenience services such as luggage storage were good, and I went alone, but the staff was so friendly that I was able to enjoy my meal. It seems like a lot of locals stop by for a drink in the evening.

This is the 3rd Hawksmoor we have been to and it only gets better. Everything was fantastic. We were served by Andrea and he definitely is a credit to this restaurant. Made the meal that little bit extra special.

Third Hawksmoor and just as good as the other visits. Service superb, food and drinks always impress. Especially the MEAT and the beef dripping chips, yummy. Visited for a Sunday Lunch service. Only niggle is the space between tables as very busy and noisy. I did ask about a loyalty card, but alas not! Will be trying another when we're next in London.

Don’t understand the fuss over a standard roast with only 2 slices of meat. We asked for a glass house red they were £18. Interesting

I have eaten in many Hawksmoor locations in the past and always had a wonderful experience. However I would not return to this location (Guildhall). I went to this restaurant with my husband and two of my nieces and our server was quite condescending during her interactions with us, and not particularly helpful while we were ordering. I was also disappointed with the food, I had a Chateaubriand which to be fair was a decent steak, if not particuarly well cooked for a rare steak there were some parts of the outside which were more than seared, edging towards burnt - I do not expect this at a Hawksmoor, or anywhere that costs £200 per head for a party of 4. I am chalking this up to this location having a bad day and would return to others. Would absolutely expect better service and quality than we received here

Service was great, but the food wasn’t as good as I remembered from the last time we went a couple of years ago. Overall it didn’t feel as premium as before.

Yet again a fantastic experience all round. The atmosphere is buzzing, the staff are attentive but surpassing all that is the food, outrageously great the chateaubriand is just magnificent as was the lobster! Highly recommend

Food was excellent, but service was a bit slow. My sides never arrived with the main course. When it was pointed it out, nothing was done about it initially and I had to attract another waiter. When it eventually did arrive, I’d nearly finished my main course. Which was disappointing. Other than that everything was the usual hawksmore standard.

Hawksmoor never fail to deliver excellent service, food and atmosphere. The waiting staff, hosts and team also make you feel valued and special - each time. Thank you

Hostess = 5/5 Bartender = 5/5 Food = 5/5 Waiter = 1/5!!! Not sure why the waiter was as inattentive as he was, but he pretty much ruined an easy 5/5 rating. Extended my stay much longer than necessary. Absolutely unacceptable. I’ve been to the Guildhall and Spitalfields locations on several occasions, and this was the visit that I wish did not happen.

Beautiful atmosphere, warm and welcoming staff that worked very well as a team. Excellent menu recommendations from staff, especially helping with appropriate portion size. The steaks were perfectly cooked. Some of our party also ordered from the prix fixe menu, which is an excellent value. We also enjoyed deliciously complex and unique cocktails. It was overall a special dining experience - thanks to excellent staff both in and out of the kitchen!

Must be the best Sunday Roast in London. Think I preferred the standard roast beef to a sharing steak, but both 5+ stars. The gravy is out of this world. It all was.

One of those places where you can sit down in a fancy places, order a high quality steak and some wine, and enjoy the evening. The steaks are absolutely delicious: cooked to perfection, exactly how we asked. Very high quality cuts! The sauces were super on par with the quality: the bearnaise is one of the best, and I personally love the peppercorn. The fries were a bit disappointing: had a lot of super small pieces, nothing extraordinary with the taste. And to send it all with a blast.. the desserts were out of this world. We got both the sticky toffee pudding and the peanut butter and it was so hard to decide which was better.. super flavourful, many compliments for them :)

lovely food, big portions and very attentive service

I don’t often review but I wanted to say thanks to Hawksmoor for a really great meal. Food and wine was top and it so refreshing to receive really great service, which sadly can be a bit lacking in London lately. We all really enjoyed a happy couple of hours there.

The food was amazing and everything was full of flavor. Everyone's steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were all delicious too. The service was good and the staff were very attentive and kept topping up our water and ensuring that everything was ok. Although it was a bit pricey, it is in central London and we were all very full at the end.

Good food. Part of our order was missed out and a donation was added to our bill without consent or any explanation about what it was for which is not in keeping with the high standards, expected from the establishment which charges such high prices.

The food is delicious however the dining hall is very loud so it is quite difficult to hear conversation. It is quite a pricey restaurant but it is steak, so difficult to avoid in London.

I had a wonderful birthday meal tonight and the best service from Marianna and the team. They were incredibly attentive and friendly! This was my second time here and I'll surely be back again.

We enjoyed lunch here. Food was good although my monkfish was a little on the dry side. Staff were brilliant and really interactive. I will definitely be returning.

Met an old friend in The City and repaired here for a good steak and red wine. Did not get both. My steak was inedible. Dry, tough and chewy despite ordering it medium. I couldn't cut it with the steak knife provided, even on the grain. Disappointing. Wine was lovely. Staff were superb, particularly Andrea, but, considering it is a restaurant that prides itself on good steak, we were underwhelmed. In fairness, it was removed from the bill but expected better.

Food was amazing. Great portion sizes and cooked to perfection. A huge selection of drinks and relatively good value for money.

Unfortunately, not up to standard. I love Hawksmoor (all London locations) and usually have an amazing time. I don’t usually leave reviews for bad experiences, but felt I needed to this time. For context, I’m 29 and went with my wife and MIL and as usual though, the food was lovely. The place was so loud you would have thought you were in a Wetherspoons. It sounds over the top but it was genuinely the loudest environment I’ve ever been for dinner. The entrance section by the bar was fine but the main area was ridiculous. The waitress was clearly under pressure, but I think that affected her mood. We had an issue with one of the drinks we were given (eventually offered a complimentary substitute), but we gave up trying to get her attention.

Having been to Hawksmoor many times the service never fails, however, the quality of the food and cuts on other has definitely deteriorated recently. Whole dining party agreed. There are better value, higher quality steak houses available. Unlikely to go again anytime soon. Shame

Definitely lived up to the hype. A superb roast and great service. The fact it was rammed throughout lunch in the middle of the city (which is dead on the weekend) is testament to how good it is

Another excellent steak at Hawksmoor accompanied by the famous 'triple-cooked' chips, caesar salad, creamed spinach and greens. Service was fantastic and the requested 'quieter' table near the entrance door very much appreciated.

Struggled to find the restaurant at first as fairly unobtrusive! Buzzy lunchtime atmosphere in moody ‘old bank’ type surroundings. Lovely staff made a fuss of my friend who was celebrating her graduation. Very nice lunch menu with large portions. Had to return my steak as too undercooked for me, whole fresh plate of food returned with no fuss. Very nice experience and would return!

Group of 8 celebrating birthdays, service was truly fabulous, all of the staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was all delicious, the roast was exceptional and the steaks perfectly cooked and the desserts were very special. Spent much time in the bar after lunch and the atmosphere was relaxed but staff were still very attentive. My compliments to the whole team who made the day very special for us all. Thank you

Not sure rushing in with food and rushing in to take away dirty plates is the way too go .... Like to take my time when I eat portions good be a little bigger the cheese board was a joke ,I had to go without so others can eat o well.

We had a lovely meal for a friends birthday great service great offering of cocktails and different cuts and sizes of meat. We had a lovely intimate table in the bar area with staff easily on hand to request for drinks.

Had a fantastic night. Our waiter was super attentive and lovely. Food was delicious, with big portions - had to roll out of the venue at the end of the night. Atmosphere very relaxed and pleasant - it feels low key at this location and it's really nice for a chilled evening when you don't want to feel you have to be too dressed up, yet you still want to go out for an outstanding meal. I also really appreciated that they let us stay even as they were starting to prepare to close up, and we for once in London weren't getting pressured to leave. Felt welcome. The menu was so well put together and comprehensive there are too many delicious looking dishes and wines to try on one occasion, so I plan to come back again to be able to try more. I highly recommend their bone marrow and sourdough starter, it's particularly good. Thank you, lovely experience.

It's quieter than some of the others which makes it more attractive nice ambience and great food

Booked a table in December for my wife’s birthday at this restaurant as many of our friends have been here and left very happy and satisfied. We arrived and the receptionists were AMAZING, they wished happy birthday to my wife, took the coats and their service was spotless. We went downstairs and got greeted from other two gentlemen who again were as amazing as the receptionists upstairs, the guided us to the table and we got our menu. An headwaiter (I guess?) came to our table and again wished happy birthday to my wife, brought a glass of complimentary prosecco for her and this is when both of us looked at each other a bit confused as obviously it’s her birthday but she drank the glass on her own and I did not even got the chance to say that I was happy to pay for another glass for me so at least I could have had the chance to cheer with her … We ordered our mains and also wine which was put on a ice bucket next to another table occupied from a big group who was visibly tipsy therefore in a way I did not feel like the bottle was stored in the right place .. anyway starters were amazing, however the meat did not exceed my expectations. The overall experience was good but I would not recommend it with the same excitement my friends had when they came here, or at least I would not come back to celebrate something…

Delightful service throughout my visit, very impressed.

Is a really good place for all the meat lovers as I am. I highly recommend to book in advance as is very popular and is a high demand restaurant but is worth it to try at least once if you want to have a real feast of good food and great customer service. The only cons is the level of noise as is always with lots of people and can be very crowded. However customer service is 10/10 Food quality and price 10/10 Best place ever Also another location is borough Market. If you are looking for a Sunday Roast this is the place! Thanks for everything to the amazing team
