It is my go-to place when in Hunstanton. 1st time I went it was just the best gastronomical experience ever.

Been here three times now food was good ,service was good first two times. Sadly ,on our third visit service was not good ,younger staff serving possibly due to holidays not as oiled as previous server's . Still wood say go give them a try.

I'm surprised by some of these negative reviews. We went today for the first time whilst on holiday in Hunstanton and it was great. Lovely views of the sea. The cleanliness was top notch, the staff were lovely and to say it's not a fast food restaurant we received our food in under 30 mins. My youngest son had the kids chicken nuggets (which he said was better than maccy Ds), hubby and eldest son had lasagne which is cooked in individual pots, was a very large portion and delicious (I tried some and agree). My son even ate the chips that came with it and he doesn't usually like chips. I had a jacket potato, not much you can do wrong with that, it had nice strong cheese with it. The prices were also reasonable. Cost us about £40 which included 2 pints of Pepsi Max, a pint of beer and a kids drink. We'll definitely return next time we visit Hunstanton!

The staff were lovely and friendly but they didn't have anywhere near enough staff to deal with the amount of people on a Easter weekend. Disappointing qaulity of food-something as simple as egg, chips and sausages should be great qaulity locally sourced ingredients but it wasn't. We can get sauage, egg and chips for same price in our local garden center which is delicious Norfolk sauage, and triple cooked chips with garnish of peas. But here the chips were oiley soggy chips and the sausages were those frozen ones you get from the super market, this place could be so much nicer if they improved their ingredients and tried to source tasty local food. Because trust me, as a paying customer, you can tell when ingredients are poor quality. Norfolk sauage are delicious so source them.

Was told 30 min wait on food. The place was only half full. Ended up waiting nearly an hour for 2 dried up jacket potatoes and a child's sausage and mash. Won't be going back. Waiting staff were pleasant.

Worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. I visited Joes recently while visiting friends in the UK because I had heard great things about there chef Steve. However I was bitterly disappointed to find that the food he cooks is second rate at best. I live in Chicago but I am formerly of Cambridgeshire so I sat with anticipation of a great sausage and mash dinner when it finally came out it was not worth waiting for I have had far better here in the states and they don’t know how to make a good sausage and mash. They were greasy burnt and cold not to mention full of gristle and completely inedible. The mash was tasteless and lumpy also stone cold. This is not a chef he is a second rate greasy spoon cook at best if he can get as simple a dish and sausage and mash wrong. I will never be returning and I will be advising all my friends to give it a wide berth to. Can’t believe I had to pay for the disgusting food I had. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I was attended to very fast and covide friendly to. Meal was very nice a little disappointed that no sweets were available. I did notice the manager seemed a little stressed by someone wanting to be served outside but they were also attended to quickly in the end. All in all I enjoyed the meal and the restaurant. Almost gave 5 stars .

This Restaurant is a little gem, it's not the Ritz but for a value for money meal it is perfect 👌the staff are very helpful and friendly and and do their best to make your visit an enjoyable experience. Will definitely be going back again in the near future.

Food was good apart from the sausages tasted cheap. Service was okay but the attiude of some of the waitresses was poor And they could be a lot more polite Unfortunately I wouldn’t go again if there is other options.

Staff was rude portions ok. But a bit on the small side. If you didn't want tea or coffee you had to pay more for another drink choice. That was bad. We waited over 40 minutes for food. Wouldn't come back.

I am a doctor and I was disgusted by the poor staff service they wanted a mask despite me wearing a face covering. If you have been doubly vaccinated and have a face covering your risk and spread is negligible. My sister walked back to the car to get masks in the meantime I asked my parents to sit down but the waitress still refused to serve. She made the excuse of saying it would be better if we were all together.. the place was empty! Do you want business or not?! Or maybe it only works if you are pure blooded white. By contrast Henry's was lovely, polite, friendly and provided great service that wasnt racist.

Covid restrictions in place very clean service was a bit slow but this was explained before we decided to stay due to being only one chef. The food was very nice and staff friendly. Toilets spotless would recommend

This is possible the worst food I have ever eaten the gourmet burger was more onion that burger the peri peri chicken burger was basically a chicken breast halved with peri peri sauce on it no salad on the burger, the chips were cook from frozen one was frozen the service is a disgrace avoid at all cost

Staff had no manners, need to learn how to talk to customers! The food was disgraceful, I wouldn’t even feed a homeless person the food. Under cooked, limited menu, staff came and checked and touch my food. Issue no refund or an apology!! The scary thing was look at other people table and seeing there faces when they bit into there food.

As soon as we got to the door to wait to be seated the lady shouted over “have you got the app” as she was walking towards us . I wasn’t to sure what she was on about at first , I thought she was on about for their menu but it was for the COVID app .We was taken to a table sat down , drinks order taken , 2 cokes , she brought them over , said try them as my gas for the machine is running out , really just change it before serving flat coke .She took our food order , so we waited , listening to the staff shout back and forth to each other the whole time , shooing people out the door who had walked in .My mums food arrived but the waitress hadn’t put mine through so I had to wait , she was apologetic which was fair enough . Eventually my food came , it was ok very average the sausage looked very pale but we ate our food and left .I wouldn’t recommend.

First trip away since lockdown ended, called in for lunch decent food and friendly staff at a reasonable price.

After a nice walk from South Beach Heacham to Hunstanton we stumbled on Joe's. We were met by a lovely lady who was also the Manager. She gave us a wonderful warm welcome along with a table looking out over the sea and the setting sun. There Covid control measures were excellent and the restaurant was a lovely place to be. Then came the food which to our delight was as good as the welcome. The customer service and friendly atmosphere were second to none. We will definitely visit there again on our next trip. What a lovely family restaurant. We visited twice on our weeks holiday. The staff was all very welcoming and made us feel comfortable in these strange times. Food was great and really good value for money.

We had lunch there today. The food was simple, honest and good, except the chicken nuggets. The staff were really nice and made us feel at home. Overall good value for your money, about 10 GBP per person

My wife and I had a very nice lunch at Joes at a good price. We also noticed the cleanliness and space between the tables during this time of coronavirus. If we visit Hunstanton again we would definitely eat here again.

Me and my wife had a lovely late lunch here, homemade gourmet burgers which were amazing, food piping hot, great service, were made to feel very comfortable, definitely worth a visit

Myself and my wife arrived at Joe'sat about 3pm and were warmly greeted and seated by very friendly chatty staff, we both had the gourmet burger which is homemade and amazing as was the onion rings! A lovely view of the sea and decent food. Definitely worth a visit if your in Hunstanton

I visited Joes with a few friends, the manager Carrie was so accommodating, as were all the staff. The food was amazing. Great value for money. I had lasagne which has to be one of the best ive had. My hubby had the gammon whuch was just as good. The resturant itself had a homely and welcoming feel, myself and a friend said we could have stayed all afternoonyoy would not have known they had just reopened. The staff were very friendly and helpful making sure we had everything we needed. Carrie gave me a couple of cooking tips which was fab. I would definitely visit again if i was in the area. Keep up the good work evetone at Joes.

Popped in Monday 14th Sept on the off chance they had a table free, we were sat on a giant cable reel table which was a nice touch. The refurb is incredible and the place really does have a nice fresh look. We ordered the oap scampi, bbq chicken and peri-peri chicken burger and all were absolutely gorgeous, chips were cooked to perfection!! Had sides of garlic bread with cheese and cheesos which were nice also. Although very busy and understaffed (only just opened and didn't expect to be so busy) the staff all served with a smile and were helpful with any questions asked Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in hunstanton. Thank you to the staff at Joes!!

Really good, top quality food with super friendly and helpful staff! Honestly couldn't fault it. The place has had a great and quirky makeover. We felt safe with the windows open and sanitiser at the door, it was very clean. We really enjoyed our experience and definitely hope to be back!

It's a very nice place it sort of feels like a greasy spoon you'd find tucked away in the corner of a city and I like that about it although some more comfortable seating wouldn't go amiss. The highlight for me was my food. They do the best bbq hunters chicken the best I've ever had

Popped in here for some lunch on a wet and windy day at the seaside. We had our nieces and nephews with us and the staff were very welcoming and brought colouring stuff straight away. The food is basic seaside fare but decent enough. They were flexible to change drinks etc on the children's menu and service was good and friendly throughout.

We decided to pop in for lunch. We both had the chilli & rice with nachos & cheesy garlic bread. It was absolutely delicious. Best one I’ve had by far. Only downside is the place doesn’t seem to have an identity. A bit of a mish mash of styles. Having said that I would go again the next time I’m down that way.

Visited this restaurant today eggs were undercooked (slimy). We waited for a member of staff to come over and ask if everything was OK or even if we would like anything else ie dessert but no one did. I went to pay and informed them about the eggs and was told I should have told them! The staff member said that's how her chef always cooks the eggs. I didn't even receive an apology. Two members of staff floating around the restaurant and only two other customers sat in the restaurant. Not impressed at all and I didn't even mention that the tea was awful!

We visited Joe's Family Restaurant a couple of weeks ago. It was a hot day and yet despite that they could see that I was suffering from the heat, they sat me beside a window in full glare of the sun. So much so, that I moved my chair! We were told it was table service, yet we waited for over 10 minutes and then a member of my party asked if it was bar service. It wasn't lunchtime, so it was reasonably quiet. The menu wasn't exactly exciting and some dishes weren't available. We ate what we could of our meal. Being a busy seaside town, we expected so much more from the restaurant.

The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food and hygiene on the other hand not so great. I had mac and cheese and it was unbelievably oily. Also the toilets could do with a proper decent clean and disinfect

On a very very blustery day and pushing a wheelchair against the wind, hungry children,tired dog we sought refuge on the restaurant whereupon I began to have gor me an unusual hypo . It is recognised by the miserable waitress with the blond hair (joke - her words not mine) who immediately got me a sweet drink and all the staff were were very caring. I soon began to feel better and was able to enjoy my meal. The family also enjoyed theirs too and the dog being able to come in was a bonus. Thank you for looking after me/us. Would definitely reccommend

The food was delicious. We ordered lasagne and bbqchiken. It was tasty. Staff is nice and friendly. There was two problems my phone not work there. I missed call. And the next problem dirty rug. It need clean it. There's very nice view. Than we will be again in Hunstanton we will eat there.

Plaice & chips gluten free at Joe's Family Restaurant in Hunstanton, Norfolk yesterday. Absolutely delicious crispy batter, plaice was really tasty & moist with good chips & peas. Everything freshly cooked to order and very reasonable. Would like to recommend.

Had burger and chips for the first time eating here yesterday and wasn't the best food but me and my other half have had food poisoning since. will not go here again the place is dirty

We went for lunch during summer half term on what started overcast and chilly. Kids had kid meals, both enjoyed and ok value. Adults went for jacket potatoes which were expensive for what you got. Chilli jacket was lacking chilli and no butter. They were too dry, and all it needed was butter first, not even one on the side! If they were cheaper if have been happier. They seem to struggle even on a quiet day, restaurant was half full but 30 to 45 min wait on food, which surprised me. Decor a little dated but who checks that out when your hungry. Service was polite and friendly.

This place is brilliant. Great service. The staff were polite and clearly good at what they do. The food was a bit ' i could cook it at home for a cheaper price' but thats ok. Only issue is that the staff seemed sort of over-rehearsed and were on- whilst talking. But never the less. I loved the place and would come again. Ps it has a great view as well

After several lovely meals in Hunstanton we were unfortunate enough to visit Joe’s Family restaurant today. As you first walk in the restaurant is grubby, tables were tacky and dried up days old food was under the table. The staff even wore grubby / grey shirts and no one seemed to be in charge. I should have stuck with my instinct and walked out. We ordered two adult mac n cheese and two children’s meals with mash. The Mac n cheese for £7.75 was simply a tin of macaroni cheese warmed to “luke warm” and emptied into a bowl. It didn’t have any fresh cheese on top or any flavour of cheese in it. It came with no garnish or presentation. It tasted bland and vile. Neither of us finished ours. The children’s mash was simply “smash like” and again poorly microwaved at best. When I discretely went to the bar to discuss this. The chef cake out who informed me the head chef cooked the man n cheese in batches, it was frozen and he reheated it (very poorly as was luke warm). When I disputed for £7.75 it had no cheese in it or flavour, no cheese on top and no garnish he simply shrugged and said “that’s how it is, you’ve already paid so nothing we can do”. The waitresses and chef seemed very inexperienced and appeared to have no one to lead them. We’d have enjoyed a ship brand tin of macaroni cheese much more and saved an absolute fortune. We definitely will never return.

We visited last year and enjoyed the food so went back again this year but sadly the experience was nowhere near as positive. Slow and frankly disinterested service meant that despite attempting three times to get the waitress's attention we ultimately gave up and decided to go without the dessert and settled for just the main course. A shame but we can only judge by what happens on the day. Food was fine and prices in line with other eating places in Hunstanton. The biggest smile of the visit was from the lady who took our money. Joe's - you did well last April when we visited twice but let us down this year - and it's not as if you were busy - only two other people eating when we arrived and only two more came in whilst we were there.

Had been previously when everything was Gluten Free & went back after one waitress confirmed a GF menu, only on ordering were we told this was not the case. The GF cod & chips was acceptable, but my daughter was ill due to possible cross contamination. The BBQ chicken was served in a dish which was full of water & inedible, the complaint was accepted but still charged for despite only a couple of bites being taken. The potato skins were ok but a strange colour & tasted of old oil so not recommended. All drinks were flat, service was poor & very slow and the whole place needs a good clean. Very disappointing.

Went here on Saturday 2nd March 2019. Won't be going back. Wilted lettuce microwaved jacket potato not a salad as described on menu. My partner had chicken burger served in a bun with chips wilted bagged lettuce. On the side of the plate Food wasn't great. Should of gone to mc Donald's.

Never again cold lumpy mash for my kids what looked like chef mike had russled up with a ding £4.95for two sausages and £4.95 for 3 cod bites carvery was terrible very poor will not be going back

Will never use this place again. I ordered liver and bacon as a last resort as all other choices were not available. The mash and peas were stone cold the liver was raw with blood still showing and the gravy was something they had just washed the dishes in. I sent it back and it was taken off the bill. A better cleaning regime wouldn't go amiss either. Not a good experience

We waited almost an hour for food before we had to leave as our toddler was getting hungry and upset. We apologised and explained we couldn't wait any longer and we paid for the one drink we'd had (which although it was described on the menu as pepsi, was actually warm supermarket own brand cola - we watched them pour it out of the bottle into a pepsi glass). There was no apology, and the lady we'd apologetically and politely explained the situation to, was then rude enough to start shouting at a waitress before we'd even left, telling her we'd just disappeared. This prompted us to be followed out of the restaurant and asked in the street whether we were going to pay!! I'm not sure what we were expected to pay for!! The service was awful. Can't comment on the food as we never got that far.

Words fail me with the bad service

Absolutely fantastic food which is very clean and freshly prepared. By far the best restaurant in Hunstanton! The staff and incredible friendly and helpful, there are high chairs for little ones and the sea views from the front tables are wonderful! Vegetarian food was also to a very high standard as were the fish bites on the children's menu. Can't eat this place high enough, it's truly fantastic!
