We had dinner on a Saturday night here. I had venison followed by cheese. Absolutely delicious food. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I recommend the Shiraz with the venison.

After walking in Cathkin braes we decided to have a late lunch in this restaurant. The decor is really beautiful, but the attitude of the owner, Veronica, leaves a lot to be desired.I'm not sure whether it was because we were dressed in our walking gear, and not "dressed up"...but she was unfriendly, unhelpful and rather snooty.When asking about available table and light lunch menu we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience.Due to this we just ordered a coffee and left quickly. I have spoke to others who have had the same experience.As a point of interest I looked at their Facebook page and noticed Alistair the owner had, last year, posted a disparaging post about those using his restaurant during the gov money off scheme...any comments folk made disagreeing with him were quickly removed.I can only take from this that they are only looking for a certain clientele, which during these uncertain times is foolish and incredibly narrow minded...shame on them

Average food. Very poor service. Way too slow.The manner of waiting staff left a lot to be desired. A bag was dumped on the middle of the table. We were told to put our rubbish in the bad, without the waitress breaking stride to offer a basic level of hospitality. It seemed like our custom was an inconvenience to her.I couldn't recommend others dine here on the basis of our experience.

First visit but not the last. Excellent service from start to finish. Food amazing couldn’t fault anything. Menu to suit every needs. Wine list and cocktails very good.

We originally booked Mitchell's for a table for ten to celebrate our golden wedding las Thursday but due to covid restrictions that couldn't happen. We decided to circulate the menu and had our family give me the order the previous day. We ended up ordering 6 starters, 10 mains and 4 desserts. It all was collected on time and was piping hot and also all was delicious. Not one complaint at all. thank you Mitchell's for making our night. I intended posting this last Friday but circumstances prevented that, better late than never!

The weather was beautiful. We were sitting in the Marquee, which has cream sides & a maroon roof, with lovely autumn coloured leaves. The table we were situated at overlooked the car park, which has lovely seating. In the middle of the table was a cut out centre piece, with white little rocks & covered in autumn coloured leaves. The food was absolutely delicious & plentiful. I had Lobster Ravioli, followed by Sea Bass & a beautiful delicious large array of fresh home grown vegetables. Followed by an assortment of cheese & biscuits & lovely coffee. The presentation is stunning. The service is first class. Well worth a visit. Delighted to be able to celebrate our daughters wedding here on 6 May 2021. We couldnt have asked for anything more from Veronica and the lovely waitress who looked after us so well, well done to your excellent Chef. We have had a Mitchell's Takeaway dinner almost every Saturday in latest lockdown. Excellent menu which changes regularly. The food is superb and the ordering process is easy and efficient. Looking forward to getting back to restaurant for the full dining out experience.

Superb food perfectly presented - all starters, main courses and desserts were of the highest quality- a big thank you to Angus, Veronica and staff for making this a special Easter Sunday treat despite the lockdown - full of praise for this fine restaurant!

Obviously during this time, it's just a collect service. The food is just exceptional. It is so tasty & It is such a treat especially dealing with lockdown. We had the haggis starter, then the slow cooked venison & cheesecake & crumble. We have had a few takeaways over the past year but I must say, this was the best. Ordering from the hot menu was for a 5 pm collection. I requested 4 pm & they accommodated me no problem. Girl on the phone, could not have been nicer. It is beautifully packed as well. Can't wait for my next meal from them. Cannot recommend them enough.

One of my favourite restaurants & they manage to maintain the same high standard with their carry out menu. Just had the sea food platter, it’s a must. Main course I had beef stroganoff & my husband had venison, both were absolutely delicious. If you haven’t already tried this take away menu, then don’t wait any longer, it’s definitely worth it.

My husband and I each had a 3 course, chilled, take away meal last weekend.Seafood platter to start, Yum!Mains, Shetland Salmon and Grilled Chicken were delicious!Desserts, Cheesecake and Rhubarb and Ginger Crumble with ice cream were scrumptious.Cannot recommend highly enough. Booked for lunch , well set up for everyone’s protection. Food was delicious I had the Xmas turkey what a plateful & the flavours were immense. Both of us had clean plates. Great choice definitely worth a visit. Eat in or take away available

Mi primera visita a Mitchell's, para celebrar un cumpleaños familiar, fue maravillosa. El personal fue amable y eficiente. Los arreglos de Covid claros y tranquilizadores. Y la comida era deliciosa: todo el mundo estaba encantado y la pasamos de maravilla.Lo más destacado fue cuando mi hermana eligió el asado del día como plato principal. Era pavo, con todos los adornos, y bromeó diciendo que a ella también le gustaría las galletas. Cinco minutos más tarde, para nuestro deleite, la camarera trajo galletas de Navidad para todos. Cena de Navidad en septiembre - Brillante.

First time here. Had a great meal, staff were attentive and friendly. They had all their social distancing in place so overall a lovely experience. Haggis stack and venison were the highlights.

Ambos estaban deliciosos. Mi esposa tenía salmón como plato principal. Tuve la cazuela de venado que estaba delicioso. El entorno era excelente al aire libre en una gran carpa. El personal fue excelente y brindó un servicio educado. Vale la pena una visita para los conocedores de lager que tienen un borrador de Bierra Moretti en 5. 50 por una pinta.

I hesitate to write this review as we want to keep this place a secret !We spent Hogmanay evening here as we have done several times in the past and once again we were not disappointed. From the attentive and friendly service to the superb menu and food. They really have this down to a fine art. A great deal of effort went into making it a memorable occassion and my wife and I would like to thank all the staff but particularly the owners for delivering such high and consistent levels of hospitality and cuisine.A good new year was had !

Absolutely dreadful, I didn’t expect that experience food and menu shockingly bad, first and last bad experience here, won’t be back. Had look at previous reviews before confirming booking and I reckon those reviews are not genuine unfortunately.

Lovely quaint restaurant in a small village setting. The fairly priced food was excellent and the staff were more than welcoming .The Thai soup was very tasteful, the venison pie and salmon steak, likewise.I was informed that it was a family run business and it has that vibe.

La comida es absolutamente excelente, muy bien presentada y hay una selección muy variada en el menú para todos los gustos. Los jóvenes camareros y camareras son muy eficientes y serviciales y trabajan muy bien en este restaurante popular y concurrido. El restaurante en sí tiene una encantadora zona de estar al aire libre que se iluminó y da una entrada encantadora. Mis padres ancianos nos llevaron a mi esposa y a mí, (estamos de visita desde nuestra casa en Australia), aquí anoche, para exponernos a algunos platos escoceses clásicos bien hechos. La decoración, las obras de arte asociadas y el diseño del establecimiento son atractivos y cómodos. Las instalaciones del baño estaban limpias y estéticamente interesantes. El servicio fue funcionalmente efectivo, aunque fue entregado robóticamente por personalidades cansadas y sin entusiasmo. La comida estaba bien pero nada memorable. La opción de postres "helados" solo tenía los sabores típicos estándar que se ofrecen: nunca se admiran los menús engañosos. Si ha disfrutado de algunas comidas deliciosamente memorables en su vida, como rara vez lo hago, Mitchells a menudo puede resultar poco inspirador.

Busy on a Saturday night but still delivering great quality food. This time four of us only went for main course dinner after a large lunch which was a bit slow in arriving without having starters, but well worth waiting for, still highly recommended

Vengo con buona frequenza qui per lavoro e ho deciso che tornerò in questo posto finché avrò terminato il menù, per poi ricominciare. L'edificio esterno è incantevole, come il villaggio che lo accoglie. All'interno un ambiente caldo e semplice, con un altrettanto semplice carta menù e personale alla mano, accolgono come piace. Mangerai benissimo. Ti consiglio Haggis in purea di rapa o in alternativa il formaggio di capra con black pudding. Continuerei poi con Pan seared highland venison with smoked shoulder ragout, haggis, honey roast carrot puree, juniper & port jus, oppure con il filetto Scozzese. Mannaggia, hanno la birra italiana, però pare prodotta in stabilimento scozzese.

I have been to Mitchell’s for a few special occasions as we always enjoy the food, it’s great value and has a nice atmosphere. Visited on Saturday and had another lovely meal - seafood platter, steak and stick toffee pudding to finish. Lovely espresso martini and bottle of Saint-Emilion. Staff are always friendly.

Our family and friends attended my daughter's celebratory dinner for her graduation at Mitchell's and everyone in the company thoroughly enjoyed their meal. A special set menu was prepared for us with an excellent choice for all courses. The food was superb, freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Service was prompt, friendly abd attentive. Our meal was very good value for money as was the wine. Finally, a very nice touch to have my daughter's photograph and new academic title printed on each of the menus. She was thrilled. Absolutely have no reservations in recommending Mitchell's. Thank you to all concerned.

Once again a superb night at Mitchell’s. Celebrating my sons graduation in the private dining area which is a beautiful room. All our guests were raving about the food and the fantastic service. Thank you to Angus, Veronica and wonderful staff this rounded off a perfect day.

Advised at time of booking we would be bringing a baby but were not told prams are not allowed in the restaurant. We spoke to a blonde lady who I believe to be the owner about where to sit the baby and he ended up being placed in his car seat on a chair to the side of the table which didn't feel particularly safe. There had been a mix up with the booking as it was changed from 12 people to 16 which was verbally confirmed by the restaurant over the phone however on arrival they had only set up for 12 people and the owner rudely complained the person booking had made the error. Service was really slow, we had to ask to place dessert order. Food was average at best and very overpriced. We had to send back a steak which was overdone and they also forget a dessert. We were still charged full price for the steak and forgotten dessert.

If you would like a meal away from the bustle of Glasgow city centre Mitchells, Carmunnock, is well worth the visit. It is in Carmunnock Conservation Village, the only village within the city boundaries, about 6 miles / 25 minute drive from the city centre. We went as a family group for dinner. The decor is modern style and the atmosphere is very relaxed. All of our food choices were beautifully presented and very tasty although portions were a bit on the small side. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was excellent. Overall, we had a lovely evening together and will be back. PS The village is small and, if you would like a walk, you could follow the Carmunnock Village Heritage Trail (on line). Also, Cathkin Braes Park is about 2 miles away.

Went on a Sunday where on offer is the all day sunday lunch menu - what an extensive choice - spoilt for choice.

Our daughter's special birthday meal last Sunday. Booked in at Mitchells. Food. service. atmosphere all good! VERY comprehensive menu with so many tasty dishes to choose from. We have been to a few restaurants in Glasgow South. This is up there with the best of them. Hope to return soon!

I was lucky to be taken for a Special Birthday Lunch by my friend recently. It was quiet which in some places you would feel awkward - not here!! The staff were very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. The food was absolutely superb and using Scottish Produce which was lovely. Nice selection of Wines, cocktails etc. Music subtle in the background which allows you to chat without shouting to each other. This is definately a restaurant worth going out to the suburbs for as opposed to heading to the City Centre. Nice small seating area under cover whilst waiting on your lift to collect you, good size off street parking. Will be organising another visit for lunch soon. Wishing them continued success.

This was my first time dining at Mitchell's for my Dad's birthday. We booked in advanced and were able to get a booth near the kitchen.

One of our favourite places, the menu changes monthly and the food standard and quality is high and the staff are friendly and service efficient. Vegetarian dish available but range is limited but venison, beef, fish etc all cooked well and presented nicely.

La primera impresión a la llegada al aparcamiento fue que la zona de estar exterior parecía un poco deteriorada. Supongamos que esto se ha agregado en algún momento en el pasado reciente para dar cabida a los fumadores.

El aparcamiento es pequeño, por lo que no debes confiar en conseguir un espacio. El lugar de la primera impresión se ve bien, un poco anticuado y un poco de atención no estaría mal.

Four ladies out to celebrate a 70th had a lovely lunch in pleasant surroundings. A nice side table and the menu had nice choices. The food was fresh and nicely served and proved the perfect venue

Very good quality of food, although not a big choice in the menu, portions not huge and a bit pricey. But owners very friendly and make sure you are satisfied and explain gluten free options!

Went a few weeks back with my wife as a last treat before having our first child. High quality that was reasonably priced. It’s the extra stuff that should be commented on though. From the owner popping round tables to make sure things were ok to the staff knowledge of specials and what was out (running out of things is not a bad thing - just shows it’s fresh). In short, they know what they’re doing here and it’s well done.

After hearing good things about this place booked dinner for my wife and I on Sat night. Left it late to book so could only get a table at 9pm.

We have now eaten in Mitchell's in Carmunnock twice, first time we had dinner with friends on a Saturday evening, and latterly we had a family Sunday dinner.

Food was delicious and service very good indeed. Wee bit expensive but worth it. Family birthday celebration in private function suite with choices on a set menu. I had the pate which was really smooth followed by venison with delicious ju and seasonal vegetables. Generous portions and unfortunately couldn't manage a desert. Wine again bit pricey but worth a couple of pounds more as was lovely. Well impressed and def would go back. Need minimum party of 15 for private function suite.

Still very fresh and great quality food, you get what you pay for, but quieter and service attention is dropping a little. We have been a number of times but this time were not offered complementary drinks , maybe our fault, but we did not specifically say we expected complimentary drinks from emailed offer, we expected to be asked or remembered from previous visits and embarrassed to ask. Love the food, love the quality but would expect a little better service to be just perfect.

A favourite restaurant of ours and one which is great for a Sunday lunch or a special occasion. The staff are local and the food is fresh. It’s worth booking via their website to ensure a table. They do a lot of their own versions and unique takes. Try the homemade tea cake pudding, superb. There is a car park for about 20 cars but as it’s on the outskirts one should be the driver. There is a great waiting area where you can get a drink from the bar.

Just been to Mitchells again and had 2 of my favourites, Thai seafood and shellfish broth and Finnan Haddie Omelette, both delicious. Well done to all concerned, will be back soon. 5 stars for everything.

Had lunch here with a friend. The service was great and I thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom croute and fish cake. Both were nicely prepared and very tasty. I’d happily come back here any time.

Podría haber sido el hecho de que el chef estaba de vacaciones regulares pero 4 de nosotros fuimos para una celebración de boda de rubí y quedamos muy decepcionados. Menú era demasiado grande y un montón de comida de pub. La comida muy sosa y mal presentado. Tuvimos que pedir las cosas varias veces antes de su joven personal esperando las traían. Era agradable, pero no muy eficiente. Bill era ridículamente alto por lo que nos dieron. No volver jamás.

Using a birthday voucher arrived for lunch on a wet Saturday and greeted by very friendly staff young man showed us to a table in corner which suited us took our order for drinks left menus and returned for our orders two of us choose the 12.99p light bite two course lunch and husbands choose of the all a carte menu not to long to wait for mains and we were all happy with our choices then two of us had sweets including a large wine, a soft drink and teas and coffee bill was 64pds very good value noticed they have a excellent menu for Christmas lunch and dinner

Had some spare time and passing so I popped in for some soup as I had heard lots of nice things about this place. I have to say the service was very friendly and efficient and the soup was piping hot, home made and very tasty.

Debo decir que mi rendimiento era pobre, y terrible, para conseguir el pleno disfrute debe ser un poco de dar y tomar. Sólo una comida ligera de una ensalada marroquí y un abadejo ahumado fishcake, que estaba bien, pero no me plantean desde mi slumbers a pesar de los mejores esfuerzos del personal. Literalmente no tienen el apetito.

Came a few month ago with friends for the first time and enjoyed my meal so much I told my friends in Germany when they come over we MUST go to Mitchell's, We were greeted by a charming boy who even though we were a wee bit early took us straight to our table, our waitress was also a delight and with a fussy 12 year old eater was very patient and understanding when she was stuggling to choose something, and suggested a plain breast of chicken with chips or mash which was a big thumbs up. Our food was just sublime, there is nothing I can fault only praise, and so much so when we left our German guests (Scottish really but live in Germany now) decided that they would love to have tried everything on the menu, so they will have to pay another visit when they come back. They commented how proffesional and attentive all the waiting staff where without being in your face. A big 5 stars from us for a wee local restaurant who we have been driving by for years and now kicking ourselfs of the times we could have been and had fabulous meals with family and friends.

Went here for a birthday celebration, party of 12. Lovely interior, efficient staff, extensive menu. food was all excellent except for the roast of the day which was pork and chosen by one of our party, the three slices were cold, probably cooked the day before and and kept in the fridge, poor for a fine dining restaurant, had to be taken away and heated in the microwave, avoid the roast of the day.

Fantastic food, very good value. Good variety for all three courses and all under 50 pounds including drinks.

This was a 70th Birthday dinner with friends, so a bit of a celebration. We dined here last year for our anniversary and were very impressed - hence the return.

Booked the private dining room for a family group of 21. Veronica and all the serving staff went out of their way to make it a memorable night for my mum's 90th birthday celebration. Food was delicious arriving all at the same time and served piping hot on a very busy Friday night in the restaurant. The room was perfect with easy access to an outdoor seating area where we gathered for a family picture. Would highly recommend a visit.

A group of us had a lovely meal on a Friday night. The place was busy yet the service was spot on. I chose well with the goats cheese starter and scallops main. Hard to decide which was the best of the two. One of the group had a fish main which looked amazing. I couldn't fault it. Will def be back.

We booked a table for Easter Sunday and had been looking forward to spending this with family who were visiting from outwith the area.

First time trying this restaurant as we visited to celebrate our Anniversary. The restaurant was lovely and quirky, the staff friendly and warm and the food was tasty and good quality. Only minor gripe was my Haggis starter could have been hotter, however it was very tasty. We each had the three courses Sunday Menu - I had the Haggis, Aberdeen Angus sirloin and sticky toffee pudding to finish, the Mrs had Cullen skink, rib of beef Sunday roast and crepes to finish, a bottle of Malbec, 2 glasses of champagne and 2 coffees and the bill came to £100. Excellent value for money considering the quality. Would highly recommend!

I've been here a number of times in recent years and the food and service is always of a really high standard. Tad pricey but worth it.

Took a large group of clients up from London to Mitchells for dinner and they could not have left a restaurant any happier! We were given not only the most attentive service but some of the nicest food we'd ever tasted. The haggis was of this world. The wine list was well thought out and offered a perfect selection to go with the food on offer. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for both business and leisure. Looking forward to visiting again.

Tenemos un maravilloso almuerzo yeasterday. . Primera vez, de primera clase para la comida y el servicio. menú con opciones. Me encantó la torre y haggis, hamburguesa con haggis de nuevo. . postre era estupendo. Lo mejor fue tener café n liquore sábado sofá con mesa de acuario. La próxima vez me gustaría estar sentado en la mesa del stand como las sillas no son las mejores para una comida larga. De primera clase, este es consistentemente bueno, esta vez era para unos 24 de nosotros en la sala de actos, sirve diversos platos del menú, todo al mismo tiempo. Todo el mundo estaba encantado con la calidad y el servicio y este restaurante es realmente una manera de salir de la zona de Glasgow frente al sur.

Esta fue mi primera visita a Mitchell. El restaurante y el personal es muy acogedor, la música no es demasiado ruidoso y las mesas están bien espaciadas. Yo tenía un plato de mariscos seguido por la tortilla Arnold Bennett con Finnan Haddie que era delicioso, aunque probablemente necesitaba un poco más de la salsa para hacer menos seco. Me decepcionó el hecho de no haber espacio para el postre, pero quizás la próxima vez. El menú es variado y bastante interesante y te esperamos para comer aquí. Que estaba bastante concurrida para un jueves por la noche, así que me lo pensaría reserva es esencial.

Had an evening meal with family at this restaurant, choosing from the a la carte menu which was varied, mouth-watering and exciting. I was really looking forward to the evening and was not disappointed. The starter I had could have been a main course (not complaining) Venison entrée was to die for. Shared a cheese platter with a port to finish. The whole experience was wonderful. Other members of our party were equally satisfied with the whole evening. Staff and service was just right. General ambiance was very good. Great value for money. Will be back next time I am in Glasgow.

We visited Mitchells last Saturday 8 July 2017 and again not disappointed with the food including the choices and the excellent service from management to waiting staff - we will definitely be returning soon.Weeboab

Had not been here for a number of years but decided to visit for a late Sunday lunch. The restaurant was very busy which was a good sign. However service was poor, very slow and orders were mixed up. The food was a great disappointment. The sirloin roast dinner was not good. Worst roast potatoes I have ever had, like Aunt Bessie's done in a deep fat fryer. Overcooked vegetables, fatty meat, over cooked Yorkshire pudding and awful gravy. We will not return .

I cannot praise this restaurant enough. We were in 18 last night celebrating my daughters graduation and it was a fantastic night. Everyone of our guests raved about the food. Particular favourites were the teriyaki beef and the goats cheese starters. Main course favourites were the venison and chicken with black pudding. All desserts were gorgeous and a perfect end to the meal. We were in their private room, which was perfect as being in 18 we did get a bit loud but Veronica and all the staff were superb. Can't wait to return.

I visited Mitchell's with friends for lunch today was my 1st time what a lovely restaurant.Great choice on menu can mix and match from lite bite and ordinary menu.lovely relaxed feeling in restaurant. Nice art work also.Chicken Liver Pate delicious. We all took SteakPie very Moorish.good choice of deserts.Staff very welcoming and pleasant but not intrusive.Will certainly be returning. Keep up the good work.

Had not been for many years, was there on Saturday with a part of 4. Excellent food (especially the steaks and tandoori cod), beer was cold and wine excellent. Staff very attentive without being a nuisance. Recommended.

Hidden little gem meals are fabulous prices are reasonable outside space for drinks and social life car park wheel chair access friendly staff all round it's a 10/10 for me

I hadn't been at the restaurant for quite a few years but always had good memories. I was not disappointed on my return! it's a lovely place with a cute courtyard outside. We ate on the light bite menu, where two courses were just under £12. A decent selection to choose from. The bang bang chicken was really tasty as was the fish pie that I had for my main. The service was friendly and efficient too. I will definitely return and won't leave it as long.

We went to Mitchells for our Anniversary dinner. It was excellent, a super seafood starter and mains of beef and venison both well cooked. Service was smart and friendly too. Priceyish, being a-la-carte on a Friday night but well worth it for an occasion. Haven't tried their set meals during the week, but if they are of the same standard, perhaps worth a go.

glad we found this eating spot, a real gem hidden in Carmunock! would highly recommend this restaurant, food was brill!!! just felt at home so relaxing set-up, our meals A-1, my wife and I both enjoyed the food, as Arnie says W'ell be back, treat your-self try this restaurant, cheers to the staff.

Been a while since we managed to get to Mitchell's but managed to get in one very busy Sunday night. Service was still good even with the restaurant at bursting point. I still feel the Sunday night menu offers great value and a huge choice of excellent food.

Remember Mitchells in North St next to the Mitchell Library? With the blue painted exterior? This is its alter ego in Carmunnock. Perhaps not where you would expect to find such a great restaurant but certainly worth the effort. Small parking area but better than expected for being so close to a residential area. Quite eclectic decor as though it has been left as it was at the time of each extension! I was there on a Saturday night and it was full but the staff was friendly, courteous and efficient. Plenty of choice on the menu and food was well cooked and served whilst still hot! Can't comment on the beer selection but wine was fine. I believe it offers special lunch menus and for children. There is a covered seating area outside for smokers. Def worth a visit.

We visited Mitchell's on Saturday night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was excellent. The Malaysian chicken was the best dish I've eaten in ages!! Husband enjoyed salmon starter and venison main. Desserts were pretty good too. All worthy of 4 stars...However the service was a bit iffy all round. Although all staff were pleasant enough, they were at times inattentive. We were asked if we'd like dessert and weren't brought dessert menus. We had to grab someone to take our order. Unfortunately ages passed and no desserts arrived and after about 35 mins they were delivered with a very small apology. When you're paying over £100 for dinner for two, you expect a little more. But this is clearly down to mainly inexperienced waiting staff who aren't getting much direction or supervision. Shame when the lady owner was present in the restaurant all evening!

Not been here for years and decided to go back, it was a Saturday night and busy. The service was not good, shown to seat and lady said back in a minute to get drinks order but it took 10mins for someone to notice we still had not been served any drinks, which seemed longer watching everyone drinking and eating. Felt we were being left out! Table booked for 7.30 and got our mains after 9, so not great. My Thai fish soup was tasty but the venison was fabulous, just cooked to perfection and my friends lamb which I was going to order but was only one left, so he had it and let me taste it and it too was cooked to perfection. Two others in the party were disappointed with the soup of the day and their mains of chicken satay and felt the price was too much for them. For what I chose I felt the price was right but as for the service it was poor. Lovely wee restaurant in a lovely wee village, would like to try it for lunch sometime though.
