Number 16 in Glasgow City

Friendly service, delicious food, very hard to choose between the dishes! Can be on the very salty side. A must-try if you've never been and into more fine-dining but accessible experience (and prices).

Me and my partner went here, for dinner. My starter was the salmon it was very very bland and the salmon was like rubber. His starter was mushrooms with asparagus that was really nice and very tasty. For the main I had the monk fish with mussels it was nothing special.. the veg was over salted and the sauce was to rich and tasted like it had 30 ingredients. He had the steak for his main again it wasn’t anything special it was way over seasoned. The only thing that was worth the price was one starter. As for the service… the first server that was there had a smile on here face, was softly spoken, polite and prompt. The second server that came in later was loudly spoken, didn’t have a smile, didn’t give eye contact and dragged her heels. We asked for a desert menu and was waiting about 5 minutes while she stood chatting to her colleague, bye this point we had enough and asked for the bill. We had a dirty side plate for the bread the cutlery wasn’t polished, there where stains on the sofa I was sitting, the cleanliness wasn’t the best the bottom of the tables where dirty, the floors weren’t very clean and there where also cob webs in a few places.Some of the cutlery was damaged. Over all I wouldn’t recommend going here as the service and food definitely IS NOT worth the price.

Rediscovered this place after many years. They have upped their game massively. Food was incredible, especially the Asian salmon starter. Will be back

We enjoyed our meal very much. It exceeded our expectations and portions were very large.

Rip off! This a small restaurant, and the foid is good, lots of flavours. However, I ordered the scallop starter £14 and 2 sides. The waiter asked if I wanted the scallops as a main or a starter, so I thought, why not go for the large as he explained the main was double the quantity and double the price, noting that the starter portion was 3 to 4 scallops-so I reckoned the main would be 6-8 scallops. I was served 4 medium sized scallops on a small plate so I assumed it was the starter and that he'd made a mistake, but didn't want to cause any fuss so I said nothing initially. He asked if everything was OK when removing plates so I mentioned it. The waiter was indignant and insisted it was a main portion and charged us full price I.e. £28 for 4 medium sized scallops - a total rip off! I should have asked to speak with the manager but was in company and didn't want to embarras them. The bill came to £156 for 4 of us. I wouldn't dine there again, nor would I recommend it for that reason. Nobody likes being ripped off. Leaves a sour taste.

A fantastic meal with great service from the staff

The steak was tender and well cooked, pity was the far too sweet sauce and full of chemicals.

Coming to 16 is a great experience. At first, the place is small, but very comfortable, we did not feel overwhelmed by having other diners very close. The service is very good and the decoration is very simple but cozy. The menu is not very extensive, but because of that you know that what they prepare is the special menu that the chef has chosen. The reason for the visit was to celebrate my birthday and the treatment from the staff was very cordial. We ordered the Ox tongue as a starter which came with risotto and the main dishes of beef and fish (cod). We ordered house wine and to close it a cheese and whiskey plate. Regarding the price, I think it is fair to judge value/quality and I think it is essential to tip for the excellent service. Totally recommended, let's hope that even if it becomes mainstream, it continues to retain its essence and quality. English now: Who had a wonderful experience at the 16th. Although the space is small, it feels cozy and comfortable, and there's plenty of room to enjoy your meal without feeling cramped in. The service was excellent, and the decor was simple yet inviting. The menu isn't extensive, but that's because the chef has carefully selected each dish to ensure that it's of the highest quality. I went to the restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and the staff went out of their way to make me feel special. We ordered the Ox's tongue with risotto, as well as the beef and cod main dishes. We also enjoyed a bottle of the house wine and finished off with a plate of cheeses and some whiskey. In terms of price, I thought it was fair for the quality of the food and service we received. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. I only hope that as it becomes more popular, it will continue to maintain its high standards and unique charm.

Staff were incredible, paying us lots of attention and ensuring that we enjoyed our stay. They even took the drinks off the bill because it was a special occasion.

Excellent gallery. Well laid out and very varied. The gallery is 15 minutes walk from the train station( Pollockshaws West) which is a 10 minute train ride from Glasgow central. Well worth a visit.

A great find thanks to the Michelin Guide, where Number 16 very much deserves to be. Lovely little place with very friendly staff, really delicious food (the cured sea bass to start was absolutely exceptional). Really glad to have found this place: highly recommend.

Brought here by friends to celebrate a birthday and will definitely return anytime I am back in Glasgow. Smaller restaurant with a more homely feel, which is only added to by the very friendly and professional staff. Most importantly, the food was sensational! 2 adult couples and 2 kids dining. Dishes were happily tailored for myself (caeliac) and the kids. The whole party left very happy after a great evening!

What a find! Located in Glasgow's West End. It was a taxi ride away from our hotel, but definitely worth the journey. We went there on a very cold Saturday evening in early December and it was so warm and cosy inside. The staff were equally welcoming. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced considering the quality! I honestly could find a fault, hence 5 stars across the board. Will definitely return when we come back to Glasgow.

This has been on my wanted list for a long time but today I was left a little wanting. Nothing was in any way bad but it was all just ok. Pavé was plain and the listed flavours didn't come through, pasta was over cooked and fell apart and the mushrooms didn't cut through either. Again, not terrible and.it was the set menu but with all the hype I was waiting for more. I will go again and try the ALC menu.

We discovered this wonderful restaurant today. We ate duck leg terrine, cured salmon, venison ragu, pork belly & coconut parfait. Every dish was perfectly balanced and totally delicious. This small, but perfectly formed restaurant, is a must visit! Great service & lovely intimate atmosphere.

Out for our anniversary dinner.. We both agreed that this was probably the best food we have had in the Glasgow area. The food was exceptional and the service matched the food.. Great little restaurant with reasonably priced delicious food.. We will definitely be back..

Amazing 3 course set lunch which was so affordable. The cured Scottish salmon starter was the highlight of the meal. Exceptional and highly attentive service, very impressive. No regrets booking this place weeks in advance to round off our trip in Scotland!

My husband and I were wowed by our experience at number 16. It was our last meal of our honeymoon, and we wanted a really good dinner. I cannot say enough about this restaurant. The food was exquisite. Everything from the soup to the entrees, to the incredible lemon dessert thing! The service was excellent too! I wish I could remember our servers name. He was super tall with reddish hair. 20 some thing. I think one of the best references we can give is that we were sitting next to a party who were locals. Will locals as in three hours from the restaurant. They said that they never miss coming to the restaurant every time they’re in town. The next time we are in Glasgow, we will definitely make it back!

Another lovely evening at what has become our very favourite restaurant in Glasgow (and beyond, in fact). The food, and flavour combinations, are just superb. Beef and venison were both cooked to perfection. Service is also first class, staff are lovely. It's a tiny wee place, so lovely inside, which just adds to the experience. Absolutely love Number 16.

Lunch set menu was fantastic. Fresh warm bread, arancini, venison ragu and a salted caramel tart all for just £28. The quality of the dishes was amazing, really impressed 👍

Not a great experience, to be honest. So, when they brought our food over, I actually noticed that they seemed to have forgotten the side dish we ordered. I decided to let them know in a polite way, like, "excuse me, we ordered a side dish too." But then, the lady who brought the food just said, "I've only got two hands." I mean, seriously? That felt really rude and not very professional at all. You just can't respond to a customer like that. It pretty much killed the mood, to be honest. Not recommended.

Overall a nice experience but admittedly a bit below what we read about the place. For the dishes (2 starters / 2 main dishes) it was a 50% great 50% okay-ish. The squid starter was extremely salty - sad considering that it was otherwise well prepared and cooked. The crab ravioli was great. The beef main dish was great as well. Good piece, well cooked, Nice sauce and original sides. The pork belly was extremely dry (Not what you want when thinking about pork belly - fat and juicy is what comes to mind usually) but otherwise nicely prepared. The most disturbing was the bread that was of very low quality - like school canteen bad. Which is rarely the case anymore for restaurants of this type.

Het eten is heerlijk zowel het voor gerecht het hoofdgerecht als het nagerecht waren ronduit genieten… we hadden allen verschillende gerechten en ze smaakten alle goed , De wijn was ook erg goed en zelfs de broodjes waren lekker. Je zou bijna denken dat ik er werk maaar we waren nog nooit in Glasgow geweest. Dus mocht je er zijn dan zeker gaan

Very tiny space but used with extreme efficiency. We started with an appetizer of olvies and bread with amazingly good French butter and a dip of olive oil and presumably balsamic glaze. The olives were very meaty which was unusual, but pleasant. I had a smoked salmon appetizer, which I found unimpressive at first, until I discovered the transparent citrus gel underneath. When each of the components were eaten together - the dish was fantastic. I was similarly impressed by the pork belly and chicken mains. All perfectly cooked and very moist. The quality of the stock/gravy was particularly good. The desserts were okay, especially when juxtaposed with the other dishes. Our waitress was singlehandedly working ten tables seamlessly. Gorgeous wee restaurant! The staff were wonderful - attentive and friendly, which really added to the visit. The food was excellent and the ambience was great. It’s a small space, but the intuitive layout and nice lighting/decor makes the place feel really cosy and special. We were pleasantly surprised that we didn’t encounter any of the issues that you might expect in smaller venues eg. volume or tables being too close. Thanks for the great evening!

This restaurant changes its menu extremely frequently to take advantage of the latest in-season fresh ingredients. The food was absolutely outstanding, across two different visits. The staff were thoroughly accommodating of vegetarians and allergies. The wine list was reasonably priced with several notable options. There are only 9-10 tables here, and one finds oneself packed rather close to other diners. That's okay really, except that if a loud boorish person gets a bit drunk, then you are forced to listen to that person's conversation during your entire meal. This only happened to us on one of our two visits. We experienced very slow service but that appeared to be because of a staffing shortage, which might be remedied already. In any case, one doesn't go to a place like this for a quick bite, but instead for a leisurely and luxurious meal.

Absolutely amazing food. Small cozy two level restaurant with a homey vibe, but with food that has so much flavor and makes your mouth dance! Lovely. So happy we were able to get in and go. The salmon appetizer was incredible and like nothing I had had before. The service was kind and hospitable.

Service was perfect and food was great. Especially love the cod with cauliflower and raisins. I would say the desserts are not very satisfying for someone who prefers less sweet, creamy, and more fruitful flavors.

Fine and cozy restaurant located in the West End area. Well decorated and accurate in the finest details. Great service, excellent food served with their own homemade bread fragrant and simply lovely. Haute cuisine recipes cooked perfectly with fresh and succulent ingredients. Highly recommended.

The restaurant is very small however, even if you are downstairs the food is definitely worth it. Top quality food at very reasonable prices. Fab experience and if you like your food this is the place for you! 👍 We had the festive menu (as we're there in Dec) and we're a bit apprehensive about the lack of choice. We need not have been worried. Every course was excellent. Had the beef and have eaten in some quality restaurants over the years. It was cooked to perfection and you got a reasonable amount of beef (in some high end places you get one.... where one or two more pieces would have been better). No issues here and the Chantalay carrots were the hauz!!! Overall, excellent experience and will definitely be back
