Penny Black in Cheshire West and Chester

Got to say that this is the first time we've been in the Penny Black for several years and so we decided to call in for breakfast. Table spotless, service at bar excellent, delivery of food excellent. Breakfast consisted of bacon, sausage, hash browns, egg, beans and toast. Everything was very well cooked and tasty, the egg also had a lovely soft yolk. Also added black pudding which again was perfectly cooked. Unlimited freshly ground choice of coffee's topped off a most enjoyable breakfast.

Ordered bacon tomatoes and toast bacon hard tomatoes cold and toast burnt couldn't be a worst combination. Used to be a good breakfast not now.

We went for breakfast and right from the off was told there was no cups available we would have to wait then we went to coffee machines and both machines did not work correctly as dispense hot chocolates and there was no tea bags or sugar available. We struggled to find a table as all tables were dirty and full of plates.... Toilet where leaking and pub is in a really bad state of repair..we will not be going here again

Popped in for breakfast and ordered no egg on my breakfast as it makes me sick the taste. Actually had a conversation about swapping egg with black pudding and I was happy to pay extra. Low and behold cane to me 5 mins later with egg on. Took it to the bar and said its got egg on and I'm bit allergic she said OK. Ten minutes later no new food, I asked girl at the bar where my food was (same girl). She said I didn't know what you wanted me to do? I was like wow ok she said speak to manager who just didn't want to know in end I asked for a refund he said you need to leave and don't come back. I go in once a week then that!!! I did give him bit of Jip on way out but I've never seen retail incompetence like it and was hungry. Madness. Oh yes got to speak to head office for a refund.

Have been venturing to the penny black for a couple of pints most days for a while,but of late I've found it's like your sat in a fridge wherever you sit. I've heard many individuals talking about how it's like being sat in a draft. Not a great experience if your planning on spending a couple of hours there. Please, please get your heating system sorted before the really cold weather set's in. Only gave two star's as staff are friendly otherwise it would have been one .

Worst bouncers ever so entitled and think it’s okay to discriminate against men. We were in there having a few drinks and we waited at the bar for 30 minutes to try and get some water. It was too busy so my boyfriend left to get some from his car. The bouncers then wouldn’t let him back in despite being sober (as he was driving) and then proceeded to let in 4 drunk girls after saying the pub was full. The bald bouncer then told me to calm down and put his hands on me for no reason. Absolutely shocking they should be ashamed of themselves letting in drunk girls but not my boyfriend who left for 2 minutes. Sort it out.

The new manager is really rude She’s got an attitude problem and a terrible hair cut. Not recommended at all.

Suitable for good cheap food and open early and known for value for money with good coffee and tea, with lots of space.

Toilet facilities leave a lot to be desired if you’re trying beak up. Had to sit on toilet with foot up against the door. Not ideal!

It's a Wetherspoon's, therefore the beers will be excellent and great value. The reason I am writing this review is that I was given the wrong meal. I ordered a simple chicken jalfrezi, but, as my eyes, lips and mouth will testify, was given a vindaloo (or whatever their hottest curry is). BUT, I have to say that the response from our server was 'top drawer'. He could see I was struggling, but I'm not one to make a fuss.... he returned a few minutes later and confirmed that I had received the wrong meal, for which he apologised. He then took my meal away (I'd struggled through about a half), replaced it with a fresh, correct dish PLUS the accompanying drink. A thoroughly decent chap with a sense of humour and a great regard for customer service. It is easy to be cynical about things these days, but this guy was fantastic. If that is the model for Wetherspoon's customer service, they are to be applauded. If not, they should adopt this guy's attitude as a standard because it will certainly make me return. Things can and do go wrong, but it's how you put them right that's the important thing. Full marks!

Why is it so difficult to order gluten-free food from Wetherspoons now ? No paper menus and the touch screen displays are confusing to staff and customers alike. Despite applying the gluten-free filter, items which were not GF kept coming up. Difficult to see how anyone who is coeliac can now risk eating in Wetherspoons. This is where order automation does not work

Breakfast came out cold, so we complained, guy asked what we would like him to do, good job hubby replied before I had a chance to. They brought out another two breakfasts, much hotter this time. Glad they made the effort.

This was my first visit to the Penny Black but it will not be my last. I had the vegetarian breakfast and my husband had the traditional breakfast for less than £5.00 each. We also had coffee for £1.45 each with as many refills as we wanted. I have read some of the poor reviews on here and wondered if we went to the same place. Perhaps the reviewers were comparing their experience to a fine dining restaurant (with the fine dining price tag!!). We both agreed this must be the best value for money breakfast available in the UK. Well done and it's a 10 from us.

Ordered a Eggs Benedict breakfast and a traditional breakfast. The eggs benedict eggs tasted awful (different supplier apparently) it came out on two slices of toast rather than a muffin. Who in the right mind would eat ham on toast! The traditional breakfast was stone cold..cold beans, bacon, sausage etc..the only thing that was hot was the plate! Must have been all of 20 beans on the plate. The two coffee machines weren't working properly either. God knows what's happened to Wetherspoon's food in recent times. The prices are going up but the quality and ingredients have gone down the pan. Safe to say I asked for a refund and the member of staff couldn't apologize enough. I was not the only one to complain about my food as 2 other tables were also complaining about the quality of the food.

We are regular customers at penny black because the villa maria sauvignon blanc is superb the food is basic but acceptable s a rule ,ILAST NIGHT i tried the Turkey christmas dinner ,the first plate I sent back because it was cold ,they would only change it for the same which Ileft on the table u touched ,it was disgusting ITS WITHOUT DOUBT THE WORSEfood I have paid for in my lifetime ,iAM ASHAMED TO Say IPAID FOR IT ,even the pigs would refuse to eat that , I WAS NOT ASKED ABOUT THE FACT i left it on he table ,maybe they were ashamed to ask me ,

We discovered Wetherspoons after booking a stay in Chester for later this month. We thought we would try The Penny Black to see what Wetherspoons had to offer and were very pleasantly surprised. As pensioners we thought it was a place for the youngsters, however, how wrong we were. The atmosphere, menu, prices and especially the staff are perfect. We are not generally pub goers but the food and coffee refill deals have certainly changed our views-Wetherspoons is now becoming our local. I have read your magazine and would recommend it to people.

I spoke to a staff member on entering at 1515hrs, and was told to wait at a table, and I would be served. After 10 minutes I asked a waiter if he could take my order; he said someone would be there soon to take my order. Aftera further 15 minutes of no response, I left. On leaving I expressed my disappointment to the staff, who apologised, and said I hoped for a better response next Saturday afternoon.

This was our first visit to this Wetherspoons and we knew it was outside only. No queue to get in and not too difficult to find a table in the late afternoon sun.As only table or using app for service we tried ordering online as no waiter had appeared to take our order after 10 mins. Just as I was trying to make a payment via the app the waiter appeared and as I was having issues took our order. Drinks took another 10 mins to arrive so in general service was slow. Outside area was relatively busy until we walked past the car park later and so loads of table that were not in use.Due to lower VAT drinks were reasonably priced.Looking at the food menu it was quite extensive and appeared to offer many of the favourite dishes we see on a 'normal, pre-pandemic' Wetherspoons menu.

I often pop in for lunch. However over the past few months I’ve noticed the food and cleanliness not up to usual standard. Food is usually always of good quality at great prices.Shame the place is often littered with dirty uncleared tables. The menus are often stained with food and sticky. There is a young female member of staff who works her socks off and is always helpful and pleasant. She’s a credit to the company! (I don’t know her name, she has a foreign accent) The cleanliness of the tables and pub in general could do with being prioritised more.

Arriving just after 1300hrs on a Tuesday I found a table and waited for my order to be taken. After 10 minutes I went loking for staff; there was no-one at the bar or serving. Eventually a staf member came out, and I gave him my order at the table. The main course was good, hot and tasty. I went to look for someone to request that my dessert be served; I did so, but the dessert was not served. I found the staff member I had asked previously; she replied, annoyed, that "this was 20 minutes ago" and went into the kitchen. My dessert soon followed, served by another staff member; it was OK but had obviously been waiting to be serve.The venue was not busy, but my simple meal took 70 minutes to be served, and that only because I chased things up three times. I hope for an improvement on my next visit.

Me and my friends were having a drink & after spending lots of money they decide to tell us that they are not serving us anymore, because we were having fun.

Well impressed with a member of staff who just threw out a number of lads for not wearing masks. Does this young girl evie need this pressure. Shes run ragged. Give the girl some credit or a pay rise. Well done her

Bobbed in after parkrun. Light and airy insideService was very good - quick to order at the bar and food came out very quickly. Scrambled eggs on toast was perfectly cooked. Table cleared soon after we’d finished eating1 of the coffee machines has more options than other spoons eg decaff

Decor is a bit tired in this Spoons, but service is good and food is normal quality Spoons Definitely worth popping in

After visiting a decent pub with decent beer on the outskirts of Northwich (after a footie game),,I visited the Penny Grim.When is this pub gonna serve decent ale,?Every time I go in this place the beer Is always sub standard. May I remind the Penny Black of the trade descriptions act.Long live Altrincham Spoons, top class.

We have been a residents of Northwich for over 3 years, when we first moved into the area the local Wetherspoons Penny Black was our favourite pub the food was great the tables were always clean the toilets were checked regularly and the staff were efficient and friendly. But over the last 18 months the pub has deteriorated drastically, we no longer eat there as the quality of the food is not consistent, the tables are always dirty the menus are sticky, quite often there is no paper in the toilet and the staff rarely interact with the costumers other than plonking the food down on the table.,

Went in for a cup of tea and kill some time. Has our cup of tea and looked at the menu. Good choices and being a chain I thought that it would be at least to a standard. The food was awful, jacket potato that was warm on one side and cool on the other. I had a mixed grill and the meat was all over cooked and bone dry. As I looked disappointed at what they brought I realised I didn’t even have the sausage that was supposed to be included. I pointed it out and they said they would bring one. By the time it came I had finished the rest of what I could get my teeth through. The staff were very polite and helpful and I carnt fault the drinks or drink choices but I would not eat here again.

Good range of beer and usually has a dark beet. Get there early for a seat! I usually have a breakfast as well.

Have eaten here a few times before while visiting family. This time was for a quick breakfast 2 did a build your own breakfast, 1 had vegan breakfast and one had eggs Benedict. All clean plates were handed back. This is a gorgeous building from the front. Inside it is fine for a good value for money meal. No doubt we shall visit again when next we visit.

I’ll go in here for a dump and that’s about it. Pub used to be clean and full of life with good friendly service. No longer

One of the most impressive buildings I've seen in for a Wetherspoons, particularly the exterior. The interior is well lit and spacious, but not sure about the ivory painted wooden beams.I had a vegetarian lasagna with a Nanny State, a 0.5% alcohol by Brewdog for £6.99.The beer tastes almost as good as a craft beer. Hoppy and malty taste. The vegetable lasagna was very good and is becoming one of my favourite dishes.Good service with check back.

Visited for a Thursday curry as I done many times before at various Witherspoon around the country. The kids working behind the bar couldn't be bothered to find the curry menu so had to order from memory lol. When the food came both curries were vindaloo instead of jalfrazi with 2 rock hard narh bread per meal as they had no poppadoms!! Utter joke. Not wanting to complain we ate what we could but basically it was terrible. Over microwaved food with zero customer service.

This used to be a pretty cool pub however standards of service and cleanliness have slipped considerably. Went to get a bite with family recently and place was minging. Sat down and the tables were greasy and menus were covered in what I hoped was mayonnaise. Was left waiting at the bar like an idiot while the staff chatted to each other. Seems the last thing in their mind was actually their jobs. Sort it out

No muffins left and no poached eggs left either (didn't know poached were outsourced), everyone around our table talking about receiving regular cold breakfasts, while waiting for their own to arrive (why go back then?!) coffee machine queue was comical,too late to cancel but considered it. Busy though, obvs unphased regulars, eventually, cold breakfast came, sucked it up, never again.

Came for breakfast with a freind. My breakfast arrived after ordering an extra 2 slices of toast with my breakfast it only arrived with one extra so I questioned the lady as to where my other was to be made to feel stupid have s receipt thrown at me telling me I dont understand all because the man on the till put it through as 1 and not 2

Can safely say this is the worse whetherspoons pub i have been in There was 50% menu sold out. Various beers sold out - the food was grim , rubbish on the floor The manager of this branch needs a kick up the arse

Ordered 2 breakfasts and two drinks, waited 15 minutes for the food to arrive to find my large breakfast was missing 2 sausages, one fried egg and any butter. Called the waitress over to ask about the missing items, she looked straight through me and walked off meaning I had to follow her through the pub to get an answer on the items missing. I was simply encouraged to eat dry toast due to a butter delivery not arriving which then developed into a suggestion to get a refund instead which I did in light of the other missing items. Refund was initially only given for the food despite not drinking the drinks provided - these were additionally refunded after a further request being made.

What a wonderful surprise I travel around UK for work as a carer so have experienced quite a few Weatherspoons on my travels.

Weatherspoons are all standard quality. Good food and inexpesive drinks. The Penny Black stands out because of the very friendly and helpful staff.

If you like a cheapish dink or a reasonable meal then this is the place to go

Went for Sunday breakfast, not enough staff so lengthy wait to be served. No hash browns, no tomato sauce, dirty tables, venue dirty and scruffy. 20 minute wait to receive breakfast, two breakfasts were served on the same plate, no idea why? Grumpy staff. Weatherspoons you need to look at this pub and improve training and maintenance as it is not nearly as nice as most of your other venues

wetherspoons pubs are more than just a cheap beer. because generally they don,t have entertainment / music etc you can actually have a conversation and the penny black is no different. a great meeting place and very reasonably priced food and drink. always been my starting point and more often than not my finishing point.

This is Wetherspoons land and looking at previous reviews some people love them and others.....well. But what you get from Wetherspoons is good,cheap pub grub and the best selection of real ales in town at great prices. Thought this pub quite pleasant and no complaints to the meals served.

This is a very busy pub, and so long as you bear that in mind, then good value, well cooked meals, are available. The staff, though busy are pleasant enough and the food arrived in good time. We have been on 3 occaisions now and it does what it does very well.

We called in for a quick easy meal ,to save my wife cookling ,my Lady loves pizza,so we odered 2 ,what a mistake ,they looked like deflated balloons and tasted like the bag that they came in ! they must have had a problem getting them out of the bag they were so mishapen ,total rubbish ,Iknow they just have cooks not chefs ,but this was unbeleivably bad , as well my ladies side salad was garbidge too ,you would think they would employ someone who could make a simple side salad !

Weatherspoon’s seem to be the marmite brand of English pubs, some people love them others hate them for whatever reason. Personally I see them as a reliable place to go for interesting beers at good prices and well cooked ‘standard’ pub fayre and The Penny Black is no different.

Fantastic Building (The Old Post Office) Two Meals, one Pint of Larger and a soft Drink for £10, Quick friendly service and no issues whatsoever, superb lunch!

Well what can I say, a regular at this establishment and since the management has changed recently this place has got even worse, staffs hours have been cut back meaning there are not enough staff to run the bar and keep the tables tidy, I feel so sorry for the staff, they are not rude but overworked, sort this place out Mr Martin as you are losing alot of regular customers.

Not impressed, tables dirty andvnit cleared even when asked two staff members. Coffee instant (decaf) and the regular coffee only marginally better. Food dry, toast like rubber. We won't be back.

I have visited many Wetherspoon public houses, over the years, this one unfortunately is the worst I have ever visited, there’s never any toilet paper in the ladies, and according to the check lists, they are rarely checked, the tables are filthy, and the staff are very rude, in particular the bar staff, this is the only public house in the area that actually clean their lines whilst the pub is still open, so some customers are unable to buy the drink of their choice, and if you are forced to buy a different drink at a higher cost, then the customers have to pay the higher price even though it’s not the customers fault due to the lines being cleaned. Very poor indeed.

Terrible service, over cooked food and unfriendly staff. Give it a WIDE berth. I’m a huge JDW fan, use them all the time but something has gone badly wrong at this one.

Went to this Witherspoon pub for family meal while on holiday with the family.very nice place,very helpful staff and friendly,the food was of good quality and served quickly.we enjoyed ourselves.would recommend this pub to any one if in the area.

Discusting hole, staff totally disinterested, and very rude, a member of our group tonight ordered a bitter only to be told that they were cleaning the lines, so he changed his drink to Lager, to which he was told he would have to pay an extra 65p for, it wasn’t his fault he couldn’t buy the drink he normally buys, the ladies toilets are completely filthy, and the tables in there are pretty much the same, this is by far the worst pub in Northwich, I will not be going on there again discusting.

been going there 8 years? never in my life seen a pub so badly run! {i have run four pubs/done cellar work/ been the cook in all of them. The modus operendi is unbeleivable! staff training while the premises are open is a no no.Tonight one member of staff on the bar, one has to ask for a sparkler to be fitted to the tap to ensure a decent head.Tables at times remain not cleared and if they are they are not wiped! Another problem is the lack of beer mats? {cheap things these breweries give them out for fun} I am told they are put in the bin every night?

Went last night with friends. Tried the new Parma violet gin... absolutely gorgeous and only 4 pound something for a double with lenonade

I have been coming to the Penny Black for about 7 years now and have really enjoyed all the managers that have worked here..... until NOW,, never seen such a miserable manager, never interacts with customers, no presence on the floor, please bring back Bev, what a shame that she is not there anymore, if it was not for the staff, Leanne, Kerry, Daniel, Adam,Jade plus many more I would not come into this place again.

The food here is first class,something to suit everyone. The price of everything is to even the tightest of budgets

As it was curry night we both went for curry with a side of onion bhaji, the bhaji came out & looked like they had been incinerated, the outside colour was the same inside. After sending them back we had a second attempt brought to the table and told that's how they are done. The second bhajis just crumbled when trying to cut them they were that over done. When searching the jw spoons website we found a picture of a bhaji that was golden in colour and like what we have had before at penny black,

A tale of two plates! Mine was a small fish and chips. Excellent value and excellent quality, reasonable priced pint of Abbots. However, my wife's burger was burnt black on both sides. To be fair, the situation was swiftly resolved with a replacement meal and a complimentary drink but in these days when we are being warned abut the danger of eating burnt food, this plate should NOT have been served to the table.

Late lunch was planned. The food was up to usual weatherspoon’s standard with no problem. Our trouble was getting over to the barman what we wanted. Half of shandy, third beer and two thirds lemonade. I think his mind was somewhere else. Even when we got the wrong order we nearly got another, didn’t dare ask for black coffees and no sugar so went over the road

Excellent time had by all. Many people in watching the racing, very friendly atmosphere and great service by Bev and her team.

6 customers waiting to be served at bar, 3 bar staff working, I waited at least 10 minutes to be served and still wasn't served by which time more customers had come in and the bar area was busy. I walked away. Don't know what is going on but 6 months ago it would be this busy and you had no problem getting served. This was Saturday night at 8pm.

weatherspoons are what they are. no music so a great place to meet and chat before moving on to the noisier pubs. great value food and drinks. very clean. polite staff. in the heart of northwich

Visited at lunchtime with my Daughter and was dispatched to the Bar to book Meals/Drinks. It was a Thursday Curry Day but they had no Curry Day sheets (Menu about to change apparently). Leanne took took my order and talked me through the Curry Day options with great patience. Of course, I forgot to order an extra Starter but went back and Leanne quickly amended the order with little fuss and lots of humour (me being a Pensioner and all). Meal delivered by Sean again with super service. The meal was superb for the money!

Shelter from the snow storm. Amazing selection of cider and beer a CAMRA Members idea of heaven. Real ale festival coming up and the selection on offer is fabulous. Staff always friendly and toilets clean. Perfection

Excellent brings us back week after week, two breakfasts and all you can drink coffee for under £ 10 fabulous. Thee old post office is an interesting building well decorated and clean

After meeting my current boyfriend in the town close to wear he lives just before going to the cinema we thought as we had 30 Minuets before the film which started at 7PM that we’d get a quick drink at the local weatherspoons in Northwich. Soon after we arrived I was approached by a member of staff who admittedly was very polite and collected considering I had bad history with his brother after his family found out about my sexuality. After buying a couple of drinks and sitting at the table another member of staff approached and said we were making the boy uncomfortable presumably because he still took issue with my sexuality and the fact I was in there with another boy and so we had to leave. Making a scene is not my thing and so we did finish quickly and leave but I can’t help feel like there’s a nasty taste left over from the experience and I feel ones personal opinion on homosexuality should not have to effect my life and where I can and cannot go. Very let down very disappointing to see such petty and ignorant behaviour in 2018

We are a couple who visit here most nights, love this place, lovely staff. Missed the place while it has been closed due to refurbishment. Well done Bev you deserve it xxx love all of the staff .

We have been visiting the Penny Black regularly each week since it opened and have always had good food with pleasant and lovely staff who work very hard to please. Unfortunately on Saturday morning 6th January 2018 we ordered our food(2 Traditional Breakfasts) at 11.43 Table 103 it was quite busy and the young man took the order and money. 25 minutes later and no breakfasts delivered we queried with male staff where order was he took our receipt and said he would check?45 minutes later still no breakfasts so we asked for our money back and left .Appalling service !!!!

Everytime I drop my car off for MOT I walk to the Penny Black and have a full breakfast and a cuppa. You can't go wrong for under £5.

They have some good clubs going, on different days, as well as deals with food and drink. Great service

Had a quick lunch. Just what you expect from a JDW. We had burgers and a drink. Service fast and efficient grilled chicken cooked to perfection. Great chips.

Consistently good hot food. Plain n simple no frills its a pub that served food but l give it a level five as its always Hot and well presented. Not the place to take anyone you wish to impress but a place to grab a quick meal thats value for money.

So after a very long night at the theatre in Northwich me and some friends go to the pub to cool down and just have a nice night, this was ruined by the staff being unprofessional, moody and just bloody rude for no reason what so ever! worst service I’ve ever got at a bar ( and that’s saying something) will not be visiting there any time soon again

Cheap and cheerful pub with a decent selection of real ales at fantastic prices. Typical pub menu with no surprises...but you can't knock the value for money. Decor uninspired and a bit drab.

been in several times for break fast before going out for the day. the food is very good and cooked to your wish also the coffee is of your taste and can be repeated at no extra cost. very good value.

We called into the Penny Black ar the end of the night, very roomy and a good selection of beers etc

Food here is very nice, reasonably priced and didn’t take too long to arrive. I enjoy coming here for food. My only gripe is that in the evening there are a lot of heavy drinkers present which ruins the atmosphere slightly, so I would recommend visiting in the daytime and leaving before 8pm if that is not your scene.

This gets a 4 because the decor needs some attention especially the flooring. And the clientele is somewhat different.But that aside fantastic breakfasts. Large, nicely cooked and the service is great. You just can't spend your money in this place. 3 breakfasts with drinks and unlimited coffee £15. That's the same as a single breakfast in the Marriott hotel.Not that I tried them but there's a great selection of real ales. The lunch/dinner menu is just as cheap.Worth a try.

I'm not a lover of Wetherspoon's food, though for some reason my husband quite likes it. The majority of the food is brought in already cooked, a member of staff at another Wetherspoon's told me that, I have been told that even the toast is brought in pre cooked, and it is heated up to serve. For breakfast i opted for the eggs royal and requested that the eggs were soft. They were kind of softish but also VERY cold, it was obvious they were straight out of the fridge and packaging and they didn't want to warm them or they would have probably have gone hard. Horrible.Wetherspoon's isn't that cheap a place to eat now, and to be honest I would rather pay a bit more somewhere else and get decent food, possibly a good street cafe

This is how weatherspoons used to be, very good beer choice and a quiet pub. Too many of them have moved away from their original principles, glad this isn't one of them, didn't eat there but the food looked good, the staff were very good and friendly too. Best of the chain I have been to for a few years

Came here for dinner whilst on a day trip to Northwich. We both went for the korma as it is curry club.After ordering a nice lady came over to tell us they only had one korma left so I let my partner have that and I had the sweet potato curry (never had it before)Both curries were delicious and we are now waiting for our puddings. The bar lady that served us was very polite and friendly. The lady that brought us our food was also very pleasant and friendly. Shall definitely come here again.

I have eaten this meal at several Brewers Fayre and always been 110% enjoyable and happy with my food., yesterday my steak and two eggs arrived the chips looked as though they had been cooked twice. The eggs were ok but the steak I asked for well done which I always do, but even with the steak knife it was difficult to cut and I left it. There were 5 of us and the others enjoyed theirs. We ordered desserts and had to go and ask someone to clear the table in order we could eat our desserts. This despite the bar staff stood behind the bar. Eventually someone came saying I have been told to clear the table! The milk for my husbands tea was served in a large metal jug and we had to ask for something to out his tea bag in. Everything else was good but the service and steak not.

Everywhere we go we always visit wetherspoons when with family and looking to eat as always fantastic valueHowever whilst waiting to be served could smell stale alcohol and whole place appeared unclean Dirty glass and dirty tables so decided to eat elsewhere I even got chewing gum stuck to my shoe from insideIt was Tuesday afternoon Disappointed.com

Always enjoy the food here , a good choice on the menu and it's not to expensive on some meals you can get a drink in with the price

Say what you like about Wethers and people do, but the Northwich one is good, cant remember being disappointed , and the staff are always very nice

Came here this morning Monday 24th April for breakfast. Ordered a bagel with bacon. Vegetarian wrap and a portion of pancakes minus the syrup. The food arrived promptly after ordering and was hot and tasty.Only negative their was one of the bar and she could of done with a little assistance to help serve customers.

Always good for starting the evening off, cheap rounds at the bar but the toilets are vile! At 9pm on a saturday evening, the toilets were not flushing, blocked, no toilet paper and one stall doesn't even have a door. You know things are only going to get worse from then on.

We enjoyed a breakfast today and it is good value and the food and drink is nice.Great location and lovely historic buildingThanks

Having now visited several other Weatherspoon pubs in the area. I am of the view this is the worst and in need of a shake/make up for the following reasons.1 The appearance and decor is dated, dull, shabby and worn out2 Management is poor - Saturday 16th April 2017 only 2 guest beers on for several hours. Excuse given was they have all gone at the same time - Fine. but why take 3 hrs. to get 2 on and put badges on other pumps saying coming soon?Cleaning - Tables are constantly sticky from not being cleaned and glass collection is sporadic. Focus seems to be serving food and collecting plates Bar staff - There are several members who represent the establishment well and others who would rather be somewhere else, making getting served a time-consuming exercise at times.Positives are the guest beers when available are good. Food is value for money and decent Come on Weatherspoon’s Sort your act out Get this pub to the standards of Runcorn and Chester. They are excellent establishments, a pleasure to visit and offer variety on tap – Not signage saying coming soon!
