A surprising find, and a must visit either before or after seal watching. Amazing collection of 40's memorabilia both downstairs and upstairs, with additional gift shop with loads more tea cosies (before you ask, as everyone does, they don't have any spitfire ones). Food was lovely (would probably recommend a little less batter on the calamari), and the only point (which is almost insignificant) would be to take payment either upon ordering or when people finish. Ordering, sitting down, then a minute later (before the food/drinks have arrived) someone turns up at your table with a card machine and the bill asking you whether you want to add a tip, is a bit strange/unique, but not marking anything down for that...and doesn't impact the experience. Will be back.

What an amazing find. We visited Horsey Beach to see the Seals and then popped in for lunch afterwards. Ideally they like you to phone up and book a table 24 hours in advance although they do accept walk-ins so we were fortunate to get a table on the day. The theme and effort gone into the decoration, the menu is wonderful even down to the artwork on the top of our hot chocolates. I was pleased to see a dedicated Gluten Free menu which meant I could eat a proper lunch rather than other venues where often it is a pre-packed cake or biscuit only available to purchase :). The staff made you feel very welcomed x

This place might be nostalgic for some, and the staff were quite friendly, but the food was very disappointing. The spinach and coconut soup had no hint of coconut and the whitebait was oily and didn’t taste fresh.

Great fun, war time memorabilia. friendly service, nice welcome. Dog friendly . I'd advise seating downstairs if you don't want to have to dine amongst dogs at other tables as this place,as it attracts dog walker's ,which are sat upstairs. Food is great 👍 tradition cooking & baking at its best. Generous cake portions! Would recommend.

A real gem of a place. We stumbled across it as we were rambling the broads and dunes between Winterton-on-Sea and Horsey. Wonderful nostalgic atmosphere of the 1940s with memorabilia everywhere and staff in costume. Eccentric and joyful; I wouldn't have been surprised if the cast of Dad's Army had dropped in for tea. It will definitely put a smile on your face.

The venue is quirky and will back some fond memories. The staff were ‘OK’ one lady on arrival was a little abrupt and generally miserable. The time was 1430 and the place closes at 1530. I asked if the car could be left in order to walk to the beach 800m away, I was told ‘No’ and that the gates close at 1530. I was advised that people are not to park there as more customers may arrive (When I don’t know as it was clearly winding down for the day). I thought this was a bit tight as we had spent nearly £30 and the beach parking was an additional £3.50. The car park was half empty so there was more than enough room. When we drove back at 1600 the gates were not locked, so this was a lie. Food was average and the baguette was not fresh. I won’t be returning - Style over substance in my opinion.

Wonderful 1940's themed cafe offering coffee/tea and cake or cooked breakfasts of varying sizes, lunch or afternoon tea. Delicious food, 1940's music and staff dressed appropriately for the era. We sat downstairs but there was more seating upstairs. In warmer months you can also sit outside. We went in to thaw out after a walk at Horsey Gap watching the grey seals 🦭🦭🦭. Reservations are taken and, as busy as it was on a Friday morning in February, I would advise it in summer months. I can 100% recommend the food and beverages, the staff were lovely, just an all round great experience not to be missed!

Great cakes (even the very modern, 1950's! recipe cherry, raspberry and coconut cake) which we loved, and a good selection from traditional recipes. Has toilets and lots of seating. We stopped here after visiting the baby seals and plan to go back again sometime. Dog friendly, but we didn't have our pups. They do offer a pupchino. Food options and prices for humans were also good. My husband and I enjoyed a pot of tea and a breakfast for less than £20. The tea pots also have crochet cozies! Too cute! Food was tasty but the service was not great. The signage stated that the kitchen stopped taking orders at 3 and the café closed at 3:30pm. We arrived at 2:25 and got seated (4 adults and 2 babies). We ordered as soon as the server came to take our order and the food was served quickly. However from there it went downhill. The service was poor, the staff started mopping the floors and closing up whilst we were eating and regularly just stood over us watching us eat (assumedly in an attempt to hurry us up). We eventually left at 3:25pm but felt very uncomfortable so would not return here. A real shame as the food and decor was nice, but ridiculous when a server is taking away some plates when not everyone is finished eating. Then to have them hovering over my toddler whilst she's finishing eating, asking her if she's done yet... Not good!

Really disappointing. We loved the idea and went for a family trip out but we found the interior very tired and shabby (table cloths falling apart etc). Some of the staff were lovely whilst another was very standoffish and brisk and on on the verge of being just plain rude. The food wasn't great and a number of the group left most of what was served. The demanding of payment before food arrived was strange and unwelcoming. I note the comments below about a family walking out without payment causing this practice, but even so it's very strange and as others have mentioned would mean that we wouldn't have stayed for any desert or other drinks. Whilst the concept is great, it needs some investment in better quality services food and decor. We won't be going back. The nelson head down the road is a lovely CAMRA pub which also serves food... I'd recommend that instead
