The Three Cottages Fish Restaurant in North Norfolk

We ate in the restaurant, and the service and food were excellent. The fish and chips were piping hot, and not at all greasy. Our waitress. Katie, really looked after us. This was such good value for money and we will definitely return.

Best in North Norfolk I think. Their batter is amazing A++.

It feels me with sadness to leave this review in which I will have to pass on to Coeliac uk too in order to give everyone a truthful review. Good part is that they have a separate fryer and accommodate coeliacs which is fantastic for me having them on my doorstep. Food is good and staff very friendly. Bad part is that after tonight sadly we will not return. It is another disaster with the phone ordering and not delivering in time. We order at 11.45am to be told to collect at 7 which is their time suggestion. We get there only to be told we have to wait 25mins. This happens every time. Why tell us we need to order over the phone and then tell us a time they don’t honour. It seems their business time management is poor. It’s really annoying to be told a time to them watch them start cooking it, even when we are regulars and look after walk in over us. I feel it’s a greedy business choice and avoidable. If you can’t honour the orders then don’t offer them!! We get this every time sadly and enough is enough I’m afraid.

They pride them selves on customer service so it says we have just gone in and asked for 1 cod and chips gluten free and was met with a answer oh I don’t know if we can do that as it’s telephone order only she asked the bloke cooking who reluctantly said oh I don’t know ha it been telephone order my wife said no he said I’ll do it this time but it has to be orders only in future very abruptly and very unfriendly I said leave it I’ll go to roughton but my wife had already started to pay won’t be back to this chippy as rude and obnoxious

Amazing customer service, best fish and chips I've had ever! For such a good price too. I'm surprised there isn't a long queue to get in! It was quiet and calming atmosphere, parking isn't great but there's a sainsbury over the road with plenty.

We have always had excellent fish and chips dinner to takeaway from Three Cottages and decided to try eating in their restaurant for lunch. It didn't disappoint, we four all had different items and all four meals came together piping hot and cooked perfectly. Great table service too. Thank you!

We live the quality of the fish and chips they are always piping hot, tasty and consistent in quality with good portions and choice of sizes. Freshly cooked to order we regularly have cod and haddock always excellent and the batter is good. Great service lovely staff

We went here whilst on our family holiday and all I can say is 10/10. We sat in the restaurant, nothing was too much trouble. The people were very friendly and it had a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious and plentiful. It was a boatin cup of tea too. We will be going back and would definitely recommend it.

I had a difficult day. A long journey and no hotel room available. I needed cheering up and this chippie was recommended by an off duty Sainsbury's employee. The staff were super friendly and cheered me up immediately. The customers were also great. The place was spotless. I ate really well including lovely chips and the biggest sausage possible. Recommend most highly.

Amazing knowledge of gluten free safety (separate fryers etc) and were incredibly helpful and reassuring when ordering gluten free food. The food (both normal and gf) was delicious! Can’t recommend enough if you’re in North Norfolk. Lovely staff and shop also.

Thankyou very much. Probably The best Gluten Free Cod and Chips I’ve had ever. Ordered by phone and collected 20 mins later. The staff were accommodating and friendly. I’m coeliac so need my order cooked in a separate frier. Check out the website it is very helpful.

This place is an absolute gem, proper old fashioned service and perfectly cooked fish and chips. We were in the area and as this is the highest ranked for fish and chips on Google maps it was a no brainer. Service with a friendly smile and the pricing is just right. I had a large cod, medium chips and a pot of curry sauce and it was absolutely superb, the cod was huge, I'll be having a medium next time and even the medium chips were just too much, needless to say the cod was finished and a few chips were sadly binned. The price list on the wall even has the names chalked on telling you the fishing boat name that landed the cod and haddock 👍 Thank you all at the Three Cottages 👍👏👏

I am Coeliac ( follow a strict gluten free diet) the staff are friendly helpful and know the requirements of my diet . My food is prepared and cooked separately to avoid cross contamination and always very tasty!

New to Norfolk and I love a bit of fish and chips. Well this is my go to chippy. Hot, fresh succulent fish with a thin coating of crispy batter and fresh cut chips 😋. Staff are very polite and friendly and the ambience is comfortable.

Just recently moved to the county and read the reviews about The Three Cottages and you could sit in too so we thought we will have to try this chip shop. Well my partner and I were not disappointed. The fish and chips were hot, fresh and delicious 😋. Mmm … the batter was so light and crispy and the fish fresh and plentiful. My partner had XL plaice and I had haddock. Great portion size. You will not be disappointed. The service was great and our waitress was delightful. Looking forward to our next visit.

Few places like this still exist. Old school, High quality fish restaurant with great produce and service to boot. And they have hake, plaice and lemon sole on the menu, too. Fantastic.

After visiting this place for the first time, we will definitely be back. The food was delicious, hot, and reasonably priced for the amount of food that we got. The staff were friendly and well presented. The premises were clean, tidy, well stocked and had a lovely atmosphere. The menu was extensive and informative (informing the customer of where the fish was caught, how the chips were prepared and also that gluten free was available) I cannot fault anything!! Very impressed.

This was our first visit to the three cottages chippy, and I can easily say we'll be back. From the moment I walked in and got a friendly greeting, to the last chip crossing my lips, everything was just great. Staff were friendly, pleasant, well presented. Every time we come back (once a month) getting a takeaway is mandatory. The cod is always sublime - wonderful meaty fish in this guaranteed crispy, tasty batter. Usually chips let a chippy down - not here. Always crispy on the outside and soft inside.

Not very happy iv been to this place twice in the last 2 weeks and they have been shut both times at 19.30 when it says 20.00 it closes . I spoke to the guys about just having whats left in the hot counter , they said no sorry its for the staff . Sorry I don't think it needs like 6 staff members when it's not busy . I will spread the word around north walsham . I'll take my business elsewhere

We went here on a family get together, and I'm really pleased we did. Lovely food, excellent service, definitely somewhere worth heading to if you fancy some good fish and chips.

Menu on here showing fish at £5.50 a little bit out of date! Large Haddock and regular chips £13.50, fish was well cooked nice crisp batter, not very big for a large(size of standard chip shop fish, not a mini) chips nice. Eat in open...

Just had our takeaway. It was OK to be fair but I have had plenty of better fish and chips in plenty of other places. The 3 Cottages will not live too long in my mind

Came to Walsham on holiday for a week (couple with the 3 dogs) and got to say the fish and chips are out of this world, especially as they're fried in beef dripping. Can't say as I've had fresh plaice before, but the one I had was sooo tasty, and as for the minted mushy peas, well... 😊 See you next year 👍

Lovely chip shop with nice staff. Good selection of options on the menu. Can get very busy their so sometimes lengthy waits. It can be quicker going their to order than do a phone order. I did go to do a phone order once and was told at least 45 mins. Took the gamble and drove down. Ordered and waited 10 minutes. Portions are not to bad regarding sizes. Fish is lovely with a crispy batter. Savoloy is good, but smaller than you might normally get. Overall nice chip shop.

Had fish and chips from here on Friday evening, have to say best we have had for ages. We ordered on line, very easy to do. Next time we plan to eat in the restaurant. Staff excellent, service was excellent, proper mushy peas.

Their takeaway service is unbelievable. The fish (& it's batter) was cooked to perfection. I want to eat in the next time. Two customers had travelled an hour from Norwich for their w/e chippy - it's that good.

Lovely fish and chips ...closes quite early....maybe offer a bag (even if you have to pay for it ) if buy more than a couple of things it's quite a struggle to balance everything and open the door...traditional fish and chip shop so don't expect to get a kebab
