We were able to eat and drink outdoors once we mastered the app the service was efficient and quick. Great location to watch the world go by

Loads of character here. Proper old pub. Ordered lentil sheperds pie and haggis neeps and tatties. Lentil pie good, and so was the haggis except it was like a starter in size! I asked the staff if I had been given a starter by mistake and they said no. I was about to give a 3 star rating when the staff member came over with some extra haggis and neeps. Kudos

What a disappointment. Despite advertising a great menu with an additional children’s menu, this was simply not the case. A very limited menu with the suggestion that children could simply order a starter. Steer clear.

The concept of the place is amazing. We’d done some reading up around the grass market area and also heard so much about it on the local tours. Having been clued up on the history surrounding here we were excited to visit, have a pint and immerse ourselves in the history. The decor is nice and references the history well, in fact, everything about the place was good (including the menus, both drink and food).The only thing that let this place down was the staff, they were borderline rude and made you feel unwelcome. We ordered drinks from the app they come over and didn’t say a word, just plonked the drinks on the table and scurried away. Coming from a hospitality background these are just basic customer service skills that you are lacking. In fact the only time we heard anything from the staff was when they wanted us out at closing time. Which they asked us if we wanted drinks 5 minutes before, to which we bought a round worth £25, two sips later the lights where on and they told us we needed to leave. We asked if there was any recyclable cups we could use to take our drinks out and the reply was “no”.Overall, you have everything right in this place except the basics. In my opinion, this is the first thing that should be in place. We will be back next time visit Edinburgh because we loved the concept but just really hope you get this issue sorted for an all-round amazing experience.Kind regards,Ant and Jodie x

Visited at 630 Wednesday evening 4th August.We were shown to a table and told 'can you sit here' and then left alone. No welcome, no offer of drinks.We then had to ask for a menu.Server came - who seemed new and unsure - asked us if we were ready to order so we ordered two drinks. Drinks menu has no prices on it.Asked for our food order then told they had no chicken left (at 1845)..Had mac and cheese with bacon (which came lacking in mac and precisely zero bacon).Also ordered stovies which said it was cooked in a rich gravy but then came with a different gravy in a Jug. Vegetables looked like they'd had the last drop of life squeezed out of them.The girl that served the food literally came, plonked the food and scarpered. No niceties. No would you like another drink.Then when she appeared again we managed finally to get another drink ordered. Again she seemed like speed was more important to her than service.We did order the brownie which looked nice and the girl remembered a spoon for us to eat it with. Again no niceties.All in all the worst experience we've had in Edinburgh...

Visited this evening after making a reservation .A friend had previously visited and recommended.Arrived in time for my reservation and was coldly greeted by staff to a table.Was told to order food via app.No problem for me but most of the menu was unavailable. Once I ordered I found that I also had to order a drink the same way. If only I was told that at the time of ordering food but staff did not appear to interact with customers. Actually the staff seemed miserable and did not attempt to make customers welcome or recommend food.Food was OK although it took a while for it to arrive .The bar /restaurant was not busy .Covid Social Distance was in order and toilets clean.Would not recommend or return.

Dont believe the food is fresh, soup, mash potatoes, neeps, haggis and most stuff is frozen disgusting sudge that comes in portioned bags and gets heated up, overpriced, ATROCIOUS MANAGEMENT. disgusting.

When I found out whats in Haggis I was a bit concerned but this restaurant truly delivered some amazing taste. The starter Haggis came with two different Whiskey based sauces - both excellent. The burger is made of Scottish Beef - you can taste the difference if you aren’t local so I would only recommend the beef burger to those able to handle strong meet taste. The chicken burger was outstanding. Fairly priced, staff are really welcoming and was super professional at all times, even cracked a few jokes for us. Toilets are clean and ready to welcome disabled people. Nice location - walking distance from the main train station. Restaurant kept clean, there are seatings both inside and outside. Nice selection of drinks available. The BBQ sauce served with the burgers was outstanding. Definitely recommend.

Visited on the last night before lockdown but received fantastic service, wouldn’t have known any different. In a lovely setting, with great walks nearby and short ride to Manchester. Bedrooms super clean and very comfortable with high quality queen bed. Perfect luxury end to the day. The spa amenities are great but particularly the outdoor thermal pool. Amazing on a bright autumn afternoon ! Every staff member was pleasant and helpful. Bar and restaurant have a lovely warm, comfortable feeling. Reception staff particularly helpful to me. Will be back soon as I can for another relaxing break!

Food was so good. Staff was friendly and fast. The Balmoral chicken was amazing! Highly recommend. Reasonable and delicious.

Somos una pareja bilingüe de España que vive en Londres y visita Edimburgo. Fuimos a tomar una copa y la pareja de enfrente consiguió una mesa de inmediato, sin embargo nos invitaron a salir cuando empezamos a hablar, refiriéndose a nosotros como "cariño" (camarera muy descarada e irrespetuosa) y había mesas disponibles. y sin colas ni nadie esperando. No es el tratamiento esperado de un hito de Edimburgo. Muy decepcionado, no recomendado para turistas o que no hablen inglés. Hay muchos otros pubs alrededor que lo recibirán con una sonrisa (y precios razonables). ¡Disfruta Edimburgo!

Had a lovely vegetarian shepherds pie and my partner had a steak which he enjoyed. Cool place with an interesting historical background.

The Last Drop es otro bar en Grassmarket con su nombre vinculado a colgar y supuestamente embrujado. . Es engañosamente espacioso y muy agradable por dentro y tiene una buena variedad de comidas y bebidas que se ofrecen. Las precauciones de Covid son muy buenas y el personal es principalmente joven pero cortés y eficiente.

Pub classico, ma prezzi onestissimi vista la zona centrale e ottima qualità. Ho gradito un'ottima Cullen skink, la prima in Scozia, ed un ottimo club sandwich. Diverse birre disponibili e personale gentile.Disponibili tavoli all'esterno per godersi l'incantevole atmosfera della piazza

Intrigued to read the history of the building so popped in for a drink and grab something to eat. Had a lovely burger and reasonably priced.

The food was delicious, the restaurant is very nice and I recommend with confidence to eat and drink here. I will come here again.

Pub de gran apariencia; bien establecido, pero no soy fanático de una de las personas del frente de la casa. Me gritó órdenes sobre mantenerme a 1 m de distancia de la barra. Great little Restaurant Had two superb meals here in our 4 days in Edinburgh. Had to book a table with this COVID going on staff were very helpful. Plenty of traditional Scottish dishes to be had at reasonable prices

Fuimos a The Last Drop para tomar un par de tragos mientras nos estábamos quedando en el Apex en Grassmarket (enfrente). El pub ofrecía asientos al aire libre. Aunque hacía frío, valió la pena tomar algo afuera, ¡un lugar excelente para observar a la gente! El hombre que tomó nuestros pedidos y trajo nuestras bebidas fue encantador y amable e incluso nos dio una excelente recomendación de un lugar para ir a cenar (¡el pub en sí estaba lleno!). Considerándolo todo, una experiencia excelente. Definitivamente deberías pasar aquí si estás en la zona.

Los muchachos que sirven las bebidas son de primera clase, pero cuando me pidieron un vaso limpio, ya que el mío tenía comida atascada del lavaplatos, le dije a la mujer en el bar (el gerente) "está limpio, no hay nada malo", entonces para recibir más miradas sucias del bar. ¿Solo podría sentarse fuera si su pedido de comida está tan feliz de rechazar el negocio? No se pudo terminar, las bebidas lo suficientemente rápido recomendarían esperar a la casa fría o en algún lugar con un servicio al cliente medio decente.

Personal atento, comida sabrosa y buenas bebidas. No se puede pedir mucho más en realidad, lo único pequeño sería que el menú podría ser un poco más variado con más opciones, pero he visto lugares que prueban esto y el estándar de comida cae tan solo un poco - - sigue así Last Drop: )

Como alguien que no viaja bien, llegué a Edimburgo sintiéndome bastante mal. Había reservado una mesa con antelación y estaba deseando que llegara mi cena. Al llegar, nos dieron la opción de mesa y el personal era encantador. El servicio fue bueno y la comida caliente, lo cual siempre es agradable. Desafortunadamente, debido a cómo me sentía, no podía comer la mayor parte de mi comida. Sin embargo, el personal fue excelente, asegurándose de que tuviera suficiente agua e incluso me descontó la cuenta, ya que realmente no había comido. Fue una agradable sorpresa y realmente volvería. Lo que logré de mi plato fue bueno y mi amiga todavía está hablando de lo mucho que le gustó su cerdo y salchichas haggis.

Vinimos a Edimburgo para pasar un fin de semana en pareja. Asistimos a este pub para nuestra primera copa de la noche. Después de tomar un trago, el gerente vino a pedir perdón por haber bebido suficiente. El personal fue muy grosero y el pub no estaba tan lleno y nuestra factura era de casi 50 No recomendaría este pub ya que hizo un comienzo decepcionante para nuestro fin de semana, realmente no sé cuál era su problema. MANTENTE ALEJADO.

En cola (covid 19) para entrar. Se le pidió que usara desinfectante de manos, se tomaron los datos de contacto.Buen pub, historia interesante. Reservamos para una mesa para más tarde (la oferta de cenar fuera de Rishi) dijo que estaban reservados pero había una mesa para nosotros. Había una zona para sentarse al aire libre que estaba muy concurrida.La comida era buena. tenía macarrones con queso y hamburguesa vegetariana. Servicio muy rapido.Personal eficiente y educado.

Popped in for a quick lunch and pint. Ordered the Balmoral chicken which exceeded expectations, extremely tasty. Staff were attentive and pleasant. Will visit again when I'm in Edinburgh!

This is a very busy pub, been in a few times but not much of an atmosphere, we never stay very long.

El macarrones con queso era genial y el haggis estaba bien, pero el comportamiento general del personal era terrible. El personal parecía disgustado de estar en el trabajo todo el tiempo y realmente afectó el ambiente. Terminamos un plato principal y nos preguntaron si queríamos algo más. Nos sentimos como una imposición ordenando platos principales. No volvería.

Highly recommended, ordered the haggis starter and ultimate burger for the main, both came surprisingly quickly. Generous portion sizes, great food quality and service with a smile.

Lamentablemente, debido a COVID, la selección de cervezas no fue tan buena como debería ser.Éramos un grupo de seis y estábamos después de un pequeño refrigerio y una bebida rápida, así que optamos por el eslizón Cullen, que era magnífico. Drink order take before I could even sit down. Ordered two starters as we couldn’t decided for a main. Food came out very quick. Sat for 20 minutes with plates stacked at the end of the table with our menus in front us us waiting to order our mains. No second drinks offered. Mains came out. Butter milk chicken burger dripping in fat and the slow beef rib, completely different to what the main suggested. From travelling from the bottom of England, to Scotland, all over, this has to be the worst meal I’ve Ever had.

Came across The Last Drop amongst many of the other pubs in the area - this stood out due to one item on the menu we thought sounded delicious (cauliflower and kale vegetarian burger) - trust me, coming from a meat eater, it was absolutely delicious! Also ordered the applewood smoked Mac and cheese - super cheesy and delicious too. Food wise, we had a great experience and could not fault, however, I am giving a 4 as the service lacked. Waitress seemed to have a bit of an attitude at times which was disappointing.

We weren't allowed in initially due to restriction on numbers but were told this in a polite manner and the same girl welcomed us back a couple of hours later. Seated and served within minutes. Lovely glass of wine and a cheeky pint in a fabulous looking 'olde worlde' pub! Would definitely go back and certainly recommend under current covid circumstances.

The Last Drop is a historic Restaurant in the center od Edimburgh (Scotland)Its open from monday to sunday at lunch time.The food at the Last Drop is extraordinary! They make delicious hamburguers and its a clearly example of traditional scotish food. I went to the Last Drop because the tour guide told me the increidible and terrorifing story that happened there on the middle century. The food is prepared carefully and that is what make it delicious. The only bad thig that i see for this restaurant is that is too crowed but in Edimburgh is diffucult to find a place that isnt full of people.I recomend having a meal at the Last Drop, its the most delicious food that i tested in all Edimburgh and the prices aren´t too expensive. Its the kind of place where you will realy test the authentic food of the city.

Nicholsons advertise as a pie specialist.Not a single pie on the menu and the staff didn't know what a pie was.Had the burger it was tasteless and fatty.Even the drinks menu said that the cider from Westons in Herefordshire was from Hertfordshire.Never going back.

Local en grassmarket, buen ambiente y buena cocina escocesa, sin duda totalmente recomendable, en especial la atención de los camareros.

Vista la storia, il nome e la posizione, il Last Drop sarebbe potuto diventare una trappola per turisti, mentre invece ha mantenuto una sua dignità. Servizio rapido e cortese al tavolo, cosa non scontata in UK, e delle salsicce di haggis e maiale su purè di patate con gravy da urlo. La piazza è bellissima, piena di ristoranti e offre un ottimo scorcio del castello. Caffè espresso da evitare.

Was on a short weekend visit to Edinburgh and stayed in the Grass Market area. We dined on two occasions in The Last Drop. Great food. Very friendly staff and enjoyed a few beers as well. Well recommended for a visit

Estuve ahi en ese lugar tan histórico, maravilloso. Atención excelente, no hablo muy bien inglés así que llegó la chef a atenderme, una joven española muy tierna.

We had been told about the food at this pub, and decided to try it without thinking of booking. Although we were in fairly early, about 4.30 pm, it was very busy but we managed to get a table.

Pub itself is in a great location on the Grass market with a selection of bars around it and is lovely inside. As for the food my wife had Haggis, which she loved and I had a Scottish Stovies, a beef and vegetable stew which was very tasty.

We went here for tea, the best Haggis we've had in Scotland to date, perfectly spiced. Awesome venue, great backstory.

Cosy little pub of the Nicholson chain. Located on Grassmarket, along with several other pubs. Friendly staff, great location 5 mins walk from Edinburgh Castle, recommend a visit.

Nice place to hang out as it is both historic and peculiar. Just don't order any coffee, it was terrible.

The Last Drop (el último trago o la última gota, más literal) es una taverna de la old town de Edimburgo, en la que, en aquella época, según cuenta la leyenda, dejaban tomar el último trago como última voluntad a los que iban a ahorcar justo en esa misma plaza, la plaza de Grassmarket, pocos minutos después. Así aprovechaban y se tomaban su último whisky. Es una taverna con un aura oscuro, en la que dicen se comen los mejores haggis de Edimburgo.

It’s a really nice pub and thought we should try haggis, neeps & tatties as we were on holiday in Scotland. Thinking it wouldn’t be enough food we ordered a club sandwich also. This was nothing more than a glorified chicken sandwich. No toasted bread and no extra piece of bread in the middle. The chicken was so big you couldn’t taste anything else and the whole thing fell apart. Disappointed to say the least.

Fuimos a cenar y comimos Balmoral Chicken y Pork & Haggis Sausages & Mash. Ambos platos estaban exquisitos, de postre el famoso Sticky Toffee Pudding, riquísimo. El lugar es muy tranquilo y la amabilidad del personal es para destacar. Si estas en Edimburgo no te pierdas un almuerzo o una cena aquí. Super recomendable, ademas los precios re normales.

We went there to lunch on a rainy day. It has nice setting. The staff is super friendly and the food was really good. The portions are good. I had a BMC burger and my wife had a chicken club sandwiches, both dishes were great. Really great experience.

La comida muy buena. Probamos el popular Haggis, Neeps & Tatties que está buenísimo. También el salmón con la crema de queso acompaño de las rodaja de panecillo típico.

Lovely restaurant in Grassmarket. I liked the food very much, I had the Balmoral chicken which was delicious. Very good service, friendly staff. The only thing i didn't fancy was that the tables were rather crammed, but luckily the table next to us was free half of the time we spent there. Overall a good experience, I recommend this place for a nice dinner.

Myself and work colleagues lunched here recently. Should be a good pub following upgrading but it isn’t. Over priced. Various pints at over £5 a pint. They obviously pitch prices at the tourist market since you can get similar pints at a nearby Weatherspoons pub at less than £3. Food is average but small portions and overpriced for a pub. The main grip is that an automatic 10% service charge is added to your bill which puts the price of a pint to over £6!!!

An old fashioned pub with good decor and settings to get you into the spirit pardon the double pun! The food was nice and they do have a decent selection of drinks. However you are very crammed in and the worst part of it was a 20 minute wait at the bar even though it wasn’t busy, the service was lacklustre from ordering to leaving. The waiter didn’t do much better. I wouldn’t go out of my way to return whilst in Edinburgh

This place was pointed out by the guide on the hop on hop off bus when my wife and I briefly visited Edinburgh earlier in the year. So when we stayed for a few days at a hotel down the road we decided to have our evening meal there one night. Especially as I was able to download a first visit gift voucher for 25% off from Nicholson Pubs.

Vi spiste julemiddag her den 25.12.2019. Hyggelig sted, men servitører var litt stresset da de skulle stenge servering kl. 1745 denne dagen, så vi kunne hatt det hyggeligere. Maten var ok, .men det var 2 fluer som plaget oss under middagen.

We are staying at the Apex Grassmarket over the road, but can't check in just yet. After a lot of research I decided that this was the best option nearby. We were not disappointed. Friendly, helpful staff. Great beer, good choice of whiskey (obviously) and Scottish items on the food menu. Very happy with our choice. Great atmosphere, busy but not noisy. Plenty of room and no rush to finish and go even though many like minded people also came here. Very enjoyable, you should come too.

We were here before the match Celtic Glasgow vs SS Lazio about Europa League. Glasgow is about 1h drive, (probably less). The place is friendly and comfortable. Beer are goods and the food too. Staff professional and nice. Adviced.

Enjoyed a beer and some haggis here in the afternoon. Wasnt overly busy. Staff come across a tad rude sometimes as not the chattiest.

This is a Nicholson's pub and is very good . Pleasant staff and good selection of ales on offer. Plenty of history to the place, loads of information about public hangings in the area. We would revisit and recommend

We came to visit this pub as one of the most popular in the area. As we walked in, we said was it ok to order some drinks (as we knew it was after 10pm and not too certain of the rules) He said yes it’s fine but calling last order in 20 mins.

This was the first pub we stopped at when we arrived in Edinburgh. Great location, lots of history and nice staff.

Popped in for a drink and a snack whilst having a walkabout, very bright and cheerful waitress, good food and drinks. Interesting history to the building and the area but didn’t try being a touristy theme pub. It’s undergoing some renovations so the Gents was closed and everyone used the refurbished ladies toilet, not a problem but I think the tiling inside there was probably done with the lights off.

This place is so cosy!! Amazing history as it was the spot where women accused of being witches were hung. We went here for the purpose of checking out this history but you would soon forget that this was such a place. In modern day, its cosy, warm and comfortable!! Delicious Rose and craft beer.

We popped in as a party of 6 and we all found the food to be fantastic, even the soup. The beer was good and the staff are very friendly & helpful. We will definitely be back and recommend this bar for everyone else.

Very sad to re visit the Last Drop. Used to visit (first time 30 years ago!) quite often. It has now been 'refurbished' and along the way all character and atmosphere has been removed. It is a pub that is all about food. Choice of beers depressingly poor. Very popular with tourists, can't imagine that many locals visit anymore.

前日のフードツアーで、このThe last dropという店名の由来を聞いて、とても興味深かったので翌日の15時頃に入店。店内は満席というほどではなかったので、前日と同じ要領でバーカウンターでビールを注文し、一番端のカウンター席で飲んでいました。居心地がよく、またスコッチエール？のビールはなかなか美味しかったです。各パブで独特の品ぞろえがあるので、パブ巡りは楽しいですね。

I went in here to celebrate my daughter’s 18th birthday along with my other daughter, aged 15, and partner. I was told the children can’t be in the pub unless food was being ordered, I was advised “a bowl of chips” would cover it. I replied that we’d already eaten therefore it was just a drink we wanted. This is not allowed in this pub. Such a backward view. Anyway, we went up the road to the George IV and it was brilliant, they welcomed the money we spent in there, I’m sure. Don’t bother with this place if you want to feel welcome.

We came in at 20.10 and sat at a table where there was an eating menu. We waited 20 mins and then grabbed a beer. After 10 mins, we finally stopped a waitress to get some food since no one was coming back at us, and she informed us only then that the kitchen was closed. At EIGHT. THIRTY.
