What a great place: welcome, hospitality, friendliness (including towards our black lab puppy), ambience and, not least, delicious, well-priced food. We chose The Queens Arms for our Sunday lunch whilst on a break in the area. This was wholly as a result of its super reviews on Tripadvisor. As we drove along Littondale through Arncliffe the road became narrower, but we held on to the hope that we were journeying on to somewhere which had so impressed many previous diners. And so it was. The fire was alight, our reservation and time were chalked on to a board on our table and our Sunday roast ultimately proved memorable. Most tables had three bookings over an extended lunchtime, and some people who came on spec were not able to be seated. So, book ahead and relish all that The Queens Arms has to offer. You won't be disappointed. Thank you to all staff concerned, and we are sure to return.

Spent two nights here in April and just before leaving I booked Sunday lunch for October. There was, unsurprisingly, no one else in the diary at the time. Well, October came and we arrived to a full house. A splendid lunch is now over and I have just one slight niggle. Six months was too long to wait. It won't be so long next time.

Drove from Buckden to visit this pub based on reviews and the menu. It’s a trek down mostly single track roads, through some tiny villages, past lots of other pubs, but it is well worth it. There are two things a pub has to do to be a success, be a top notch boozer and also turn out great food, and this one does just that! The beer is great, the atmosphere is friendly and very local, and the food is absolutely top notch. The staff all seem happy, and everyone seems very proud of the food. Cottage pie (meat from on site/ next farm) Steak and ale pie Children’s sausage and chips All of it, brilliant! We also left our daughter’s wellies under the table and called back the next day for them, staff were great when we called about it. Great pub, well worth the trip, thanks!

I discovered this glorious little pub a couple of days ago, but didn't have time to eat. Not sure why, but I don't think I'd ever been here before. Pretty remote, but such a lovely place: very friendly staff, great, creative menu and excellent ales. All wrapped up in gorgeous Littondale. I had to go for their "award winning" pie: - Littondale Lamb Pie with Slow Braised Lamb Steak Topped with a Honey & Minted Lamb Cutlet Baked inside and I chose it to be served with "Triple cooked beef dripping chips" and mushy peas. You could tell you were in Yorkshire as it came with an extra jug of gravy! This was really delicious: the pie was a triumph: succulent lamb steak in a rich gravy with a whole lamb cutlet! Beautifully tender. The chips were perfection: very crispy on the outside and beautifully fluffy inside. I chose their own brewed X Mild to accompany my excellent meal. Then I had a superb drive back to Horton, as the sun was setting behind Pen-y-ghent. Absolutely perfect!

The food was absolutely beautiful , the service was outstanding & the environment, very warm, cosy & welcoming. The only thing that spoilt the evening was, the large group of people who were sat at the table apposite us. They were extremely loud, even shouting across the table to each other,. The noise was awful.. My friend & myself had met up for the first time in several weeks so we were looking forward to having a nice meal & a catch up. Sadly, the noise was so bad that despite sitting across the table from each other, we couldn't hear what the other was saying.. So after eating our meal, we left, we'd have liked to have stayed for a dessert & coffee, but the noise was just too much...

We called in for an early lunch whilst traveling up through the Dales on route to Barnard Castle and it was well worth the five mile deviation from the main road.Having booked a table in advance due to Covid we were pleased to say that we were seated by a lovely fire in the small cozy bar area. There was plenty of hand sanitizer and notices displayed so it was reassuring to know that the Covid guidelines were being adhered to. There were already another two couples eating despite the early hour, just after midday. The pub is apparently well known for its homemade pies so when in Rome......We both had the Steak and Ale pies which are made on the premises and they really were excellent, I had chips and peas, my wife mash and veg. My wife had a Chilean Sauvignon blanc wine which she enjoyed whilst I sampled a pint of the Wharfedale Blonde ale. Had I not been driving I would have happily stayed on for a few more to really do it justice. The landlady who was serving us was very courteous and engaging and we had a good chat about a few things of local interest. All in all a very enjoyable lunch and definitely on the return visit list.

Friends invited us on a socially distanced walk with a lunch stop at the Queen's in order to try the on site brewed beer. I hadn't been there in almost 20 years. The walk was wet but the beer and food were excellent. A good range of menu choices. The two beers we tried were superb. No complaints. In addition, in these difficult times the pub had clear Covid19 signage and instructions. The staff were masked and careful in their distancing and the toilet facilities had clear instructions and guidance in place. Ten out of ten on all counts. We will be back.

Superb little gem in the heart of the Dales. Very warm and friendly welcome for my husband and I and the dog too! The food is amazing! and very reasonably priced. We felt very safe inside the restaurant good protocols in place for sanitising and track and trace. 5 star service - definitely looking forward to returning next year. Thank you!

We stopped at this pub, on one of our regular drives through this area, for lunch. I had the chicken, leek, and bacon pie, and OH had a steak. Both were delicious, and came with very good chips and veg. Reasonably priced, we've added this to our list of preferred dining venues. Will definitely return.

We booked to stay here for two nights in early October 2020 as a point from which to explore the Dales for a walking holiday. Michelle is a wonderfully polite and attentive host and we immediately felt welcomed into her warm cosy pub. We ate in the bar on the Friday night and unlike a previous reviewer I couldn't fault their Covid biosecurity measures which tables AND chairs getting a cleanse after each diner. There were also tables in front of the bar to prevent people approaching. First things first.... the food. Now as a vegan in a small local pub I can sometimes be left feeling a bit excluded from all the yummy options but they had really gone the extra mile with a fabulous vegan burger and even a pudding! I was so happy (and full!). Wine was really good and reasonably priced and there was a small selection of local ales. My boyfriend had what he described as the best pie ever, a lamb cutlet pie - it certainly went down a storm with him. There were plenty of options for breakfast in the morning so we were set up for a days' walking. The room was lovely, warm and cosy with a wonderful view of the mountains and a lovely hot shower. On our second night we travelled to Cartmel for dinner and it was a filthy rainy night travelling over the fells in terrible weather. When we arrived back there was a little something courtesy of Michelle waiting for us outside our room. A welcome treat! We had the best time in Yorkshire and loved our time staying and eating here - it was just perfect.
