Last minute choice for curry, and wow, so glad we chose Tuk Tuk. Lovely restaurant, very nice Interior very welcoming. Service was fantastic and attentive,we were made to feel very welcome. As for the food, we were totally blown away with the quality, taste, and flavours. Well done Tuk Tuk,we will 100% be returning soon.

Excellent food in contemporary surroundings. Each dish we tried was delicious but highly recommend Tuk Tuk chicken. Staff are friendly and helpful and it is exceptionally clean.

We were keen to see what if he restaurant was like after its refurbishment. We were greeted at the door in a friendly way and shown to our table. The restaurant is pleasantly furnished and decorated, and the chairs are very comfortable. There is plenty of choice on the menu, with street food dishes given a classy interpretation, interesting chef’s speciality dishes and the classic choices you would expect from an Indian kitchen. Everything we had was delicious and beautifully presented. Portions are generous and the service was great - attentive but not intrusive. We shall definitely return!

Best curry ive had in eastbourne by far

The food is outstanding here! We ordered 4 Street food small plates and a main curry with rice to share between 2 big eaters! Needless to say we were stuffed!

My wife and I visit Eastbourne every quarter for work purposes and the highlight of our 3 days in Eastbourne every 3 months is that we get to visit Tuk Tuk. The food here is absolutely amazing, words are too few to describe how delicious the lamb biryani is!!! The service is impeccable too and we've never had an issue since we started eating here 16 months ago. I can't wait for March which is when we'll next be here. 100% recommended.

My family have going to Tuk Tuk for over a period of 4 years now and everytime we visit Eastbourne, this restaurant is an absolute MUST for us! We have become close to the owner, Shiraz. He's extremely welcoming, friendly, cheerful, heartwarming and very professional. It's always great to see him! The staff are also very polite, welcoming and professional. The atmosphere is always pleasant and food is absolutely delicious! We can't recommend this fabulous restaurant enough! Look forward to visiting again soon! Manny & Thuy

Friendly staff but rude chef’s Had just arrived in Eastbourne, found an Indian restaurant that we could grab for a quick takeaway since we know it would be closing in 30/45 mins so we had anticipated the worse if we couldn’t grab a table. We noticed on Google reviews there had a very high rating hence why we had opt for this place to eat from. Customer Service: Luckily the two staff upon entering were very welcoming and friendly, in allowing us to eat in the restaurant despite them very near to closing time. 7/10 What we ordered: Lamb Rogan josh - very surprising to see that you can chose the meat to go with the rojan josh curry. There is flavour to the dish, the lamb itself is tender which you can tell it was cooked in a pressure cooker, whereas traditionally the lamb rojan josh is cooked in a one pot and very slowly so that the spices and the meat can be bind together to give that aromatic and flavour to the meat and spices and the gravy. 3/10 Chana Malasa - Overall the dish is nice but as enjoying the flavours, there are lots of shortcuts taken in preparing the food. For example the sauce was the same as Rogan Josh instead they had adding turmeric and coriander which if one knows how to properly make curries the flavourful, yet traditional ways does not make a whole curry base different. 6/10 Goan Calami - Our apologies but my partner is from Goa and this is more of a salt and pepper fried squid served with a slice of lemon and Mayo, which unfortunately does not mean it is a “Goan style”. A laughable dish which unfortunately does not represent any part of Goa but more of a western style cooking. 1/10 Paratha - It tasted fine but it was quite oily when served and for the size and the portion as you only get served one paratha for £3.50 for just a small plate it not quite worth it. It feels like there were there to make profit than getting people to come back constantly. 5/10 Overall, the food wasn’t filling honestly but definitely hope this would change. The waiter himself had asked how our food was, so we had opened did not say it wasn’t good the food was just good, and we offered them our opinions on the curries as my partner is a chef himself and wanted the best for other chef’s. The waiter himself had translated it to their two chefs who had been standing at the bar staring at us uncomfortable maybe due to wanting us out of the restaurant as they wanted to close up soon, which is understandable. One of the chef said in Hindi whilst discussing to the other chef, ‘what does he know about food’ the waiter and other chef laughed saying ‘as if he know how to cook food’ thinking my partner knew nothing about cooking traditional Indian cuisine. Unfortunately that comment the chef had made luckily my partner knew Hindi, and decided not to say anything because at the end of the day, no one should ever judge a book by it’s cover. Advice for the management: When speaking in another language about customers please do not do it in front of the customers as they probably might end up knowing what you are saying. Would we would come back again? Maybe only if there is any change but not really for the food currently being served.

This was an excellent experience and lovely restaurant. We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant, by owner who was absolutely gracious, friendly, humorous and very knowledgeable. He told us about the various dishes and recommended some of them. The food looked absolutely tantalising and was really delicious. And the restaurant catered well for the vegan members of our party by the customisation of some of the dishes. The meal was very tasty, generous and filling. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied, happy and very contented. Highly recommend and very affordable.

It is not someplace where everyone is welcomed. Without knowing someone, they judge people. Awful to know such people still exist and even can continue doing business.For owners info we spent £100 just for two people before. It's their loss as they lost a good customer, we liked their food taste what we tried before. But definitely never going back after knowing how they actually are. If you are a person of colour, I would advise stay at home rather than going there and get judged by these awful people. *** Going down on the review list it's prominent if the place discriminates or not. How you look down on people that showcases through your words in each review. ANY MAN WILL BECOME FURIOUS WHEN HIS PARTNER IS NOT TREATED WELL. I HOPE YOU DON'T HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THAT SOMEWHERE ELSE. So you should be ashamed of yourself to be in hospitality business without knowing the meaning of hospitality!

The welcome was great. The restaurant was very cold inside. The food was OK but found it expensive to what we are normally used to.

Nice clean, friendly restaurant. The food was nothing special and over seasoned with salt on two dishes. The waiter was very apologetic and reduced the bill slightly. I wouldn't go here again.

My wife and I just travelled through and stopped by Eastboune for a night, randomly searched on google for dinner and found this Indian restaurant. The quality of food and service were far beyond any of our expectation. The restaurant had great atmosphere and we were warmly welcome by the friendly staff. Thank you for the two gentlemen who made our time at the restaurant so delightful. (You can feel they genuinely care about everyone in the restaurant, it is places like this that we absolutely love). Not to mention the restaurant make one of the best Indian food we have ever had (We had been to India) And such delicious dishes could only be found in India, but it could never be as clean and hygienic as Tuk Tuk. So we just have to let everyone know, this is by far the best place for Indian food, we had such a great time in Eastbourne by this restaurant. The butter chicken, galic naan, butter naan are our favorite.

Lovely food. Very friendly staff. We had traditional type dishes and they tasted very nice. Chicken Tikka Korai is a dish i've not had in ages. Very tasty. Lovely Bombay Aloo. We thought it had a lighter taste to some Indian Restaurants. By that i mean it wasn't doused in heavy sauces and had a good taste. Not too hot. Not too spicy. We don't live in Eastbourne, but i'd be a regular if i did. I enjoyed my chat with the manager (owner?) about Cricket too !

We hadn’t booked as been let down by another restaurant who decided they weren’t open despite us booking. We were warmly welcomed, food was delicious and attentive service. We both had meat Thali; the different meat dishes had depth of flavour and distinct from each other. Naan was freshly cooked and light. We’ve been a couple of times before and consistently high standard this time too. Highly recommended.

Absoloutley awful!! Slow service, staff very rude, almost felt as though we were in their way. We had to call the waiter to take our order for drinks, that were of very poor quality for the extortionate prices. When we eventually received our order the food was a complete disgrace, all frozen ready meal quality and obviously shop bought. To have to wait over an hour to be served I think is ridiculous, and although we rang and booked a table beforehand they didn't have a table ready for us. Absoloute disgrace, will not be going back here, there a plenty more Indian restaurants in Eastbourne that are higher in my experiences.

Every time we are in Eastbourne we just have to eat here. If only it was in our home town! We travel a fair bit, and eat at dozens of restaurants/pubs annually, this is by far the best we have had, consistent too. Lovely clean restaurant, nice decor as well. Always a warm welcome. It’s so good you have to book, but we’ll worth it. The service is outstanding, prompt for food being served, check backs, extra drinks being brought to the table, drinks orders and delivered quickly, and food orders being taken in perfect time too. Faultless service, very friendly polite staff as well. Food comes all together, not starters then mains, but it stays hot, and is great to have a bit of each together. We had a chicken tikka starter (none of the usual red dyed rubbish), it tasted superb. Kebabs starter, moist, tender and tasty too. Also, prawn korma, perfect amount of prawns with a delicious sauce with great taste (not just the usual creamy flavourless muck you get in Indian restaurants), garlic chilli chicken, lovely flavour, just right. The garlic naan is to die for! Light, fluffy, great garlic flavour without being overwhelming, best we have ever had, not the usual thick stodgy rubbish. See photos. We should have taken a few to go! The dishes are a little dumbed down for British tastes, but all you have to do is ask and the spice level can be increased to your liking. All in all, I wish we could eat here every week, alas too far from home. We have eaten in dozens of places in Eastbourne, some awful, some ok, but this excels the rest by far. Thank you to front of house staff and the chefs as well for making our little break so enjoyable. Looking forward to our return!

Excellent all the way, so glad we tried this place after 6 recommendations. It didn’t disappoint the food was fantastic the staff were first class and the ambiance was spot on. Will definitely be visiting next time we are in the area. Don’t be put off by a couple of bad reviews check it out and make your own mind up.

Sorry but it didn't taste nothing like Indian Street, if there was no start to give . That would have been my choice

Food was tasty but there is a minimum spend of £17.50 per person. The naan was too thin and crispy rather than fluffy. Service was nice and so was the presentation. I’ve had bigger portions for less money in London. Several downsides considering there is another Indian restaurant across the street. Overall, the food came out quick, service was nice and the main meals were tasty.

Food was disappointing -- bland and mass produced. Key ingredients one would expect from classic dishes seemed to be missing (e.g., no cloves/cinnamon in Biriyani; tikka dish made with (pan fried?) chicken, rather than marinated, skewered and grilled; no trace of mustard seeds in sag aloo, etc.). But naan bread was quite good.

Really recomended place for quality indian food and great atmosphere

Why go to mayalayam? Was surprised how good the food was here given the lowish rating- however all the food was if a really good standard and importantly spiced appropriately. The owner was on the ball and managed to fit us in despite the place being booked out for the eve. Thali was great as was their special tuk tuk curry - seems lots of locals go here

Everything about this place is amazing, the staff treated us extremely well and there was no errors to our orders. The food came out very quickly unlike many other locations and it was the best curry I have ever tasted. The flavour was a perfect blend of spices it was spicy and flavourful. The atmosphere was authentic and the food smelled and tasted amazing.

Excellent food and friendly service. We had a Vegetarian and a Meat Thali, both were brilliant and great value for money. Finished the meal of with a Gulab Jamun and Pistachio Kulfi, also brilliant. Definitely would recommend and will definitely be back when we next visit Eastbourne, so much more on the menu to sample. The specials looked amazing.

We had a poor experience all round here recently. Poor customer service, we had to wait a while before being attended too. Once we eventually received our food we found it to be disappointing, based on the reviews we'd read. Some food overcooked, some only just warm. This was mentioned to the manager, who frankly could not have cared less. I got the feeling that if you were a holiday maker and not a regular customer, they really weren't bothered with you. If spending time in Eastbourne there are plenty of other Indian restaurants around.

We've just returned from a getaway break and stayed 200 yards away from this place. We had our dog with us so couldn't dine in. I enquired if they did takeaways, as being so close I could pop in to collect. NO was the reply. Fair enough. However, they advised that I could submit a takeaway order via on of the delivery services (just-eat, etc) so, I cannot pee order and go in to collect, BUT delivery firms can!. How ridiculous and STUPID is that? I cannot review the food, as refused to give them my money after being told this rubbish. And if/when we return, there is absolutely no way we will ever consider parting with our money here by dinning in!!! They need to get real, clearly owned/run by *"#+":s

Tuk tuk seemed like a nice restaurant for a dinner. Pleasant environment and moderately loud Indian music. We ate lamb aubergine achai, Indonesian coconut curry, and vegetarian thali along with naan bread. Everyone was satisfied with the food!

They don’t treat Indian customers right. They r themselves Indians running a Indian restaurant but they only treat other nationalities very warm and welcoming. The food was pathetic..we ate veg and non veg thali and the next day me and my husband both got stomach upset. After a beautiful day in eastbourne we wanted to have a good Indian food and ended up in this place hoping we would enjoy our food and atmosphere..Guys go through all the reviews you will find similar reviews by many Indians. We didn’t believe them and went and now I have ended up writing this long review which I have never ever done on my life before . The funny part here is when we discussed the same with the manager in the restaurant he simply smiled and said it is all in ur head we r doing great job. I mean seriously I understand you r going to get a lot of business every day because mostly lot of tourists who are one time eaters however you treat them you are gonna make money. But remember showing differentiation between human beings is so wrong and one day you will pay for it. You may become rich now but this wnt last long. Not even worth for one star.

Every once in a while, one comes across an Indian restaurant that isn't conventional. Tuk Tuk, with its namesake coming from the streets of Thailand, certainly makes Indian food interesting for us. We tried the seafood and meat Thali, which gave us a fantastic sampling of different dishes in smaller portions. Although not full sized dishes, they were mighty in taste. I especially appreciated the dhal with its mega doses of garlic. The mango lassi is delicately balanced and wasn't overpowered with sugar (which, unfortunately, is the case in typical Indian restaurants). The decor is modern and chic with ambient music, a fusion of (sometimes) 80s music with an Indian twist. Proprietors were friendly, relaxed, and attentive. Overall, we left with our tummies fed and our souls satisfied. It felt like the food was prepared with care, and the results showed. Highly recommended.

Having lived in India for 7 year's I found the food has good as the street food in India at a very reasonable price.

We've visited this restaurant several times since moving to Eastbourne and each time the food has been excellent quality. You can really taste the different spices. This restaurant is fast becoming our favourite place to eat in Eastbourne.

Had a Rajasthani laal maans and the flavour was exceptional. The spicyness was on point, and would recommend any one who enjoy spicy food.
