The ice cream sundaes were spot on. Plenty of ice cream. Plenty of sauce. Plenty if whipped cream. Absolutely smashing. It’s a real pity the setting was so unlovely. Needs some attention.

The ice cream is nice enough but this seems like nothing more than an afterthought to the farm. Staff look young (cheap to pay) and completely miserable. The space is awkward and the layout very poor. Nice that theres a kids play area and easy to park. Just wants your money and at £25 for four ice creams they are clearly raking it in.

Ice creams, as always excellent. Sat inside as it was rather chilly outside. Amazed that a member of staff came out with her packed lunch and sat alone at a table with 5 chairs. It was 1.00pm and getting quite busy. She totally ignored customers looking for a seat and just carried on eating and using her phone. Surely staff could use another area especially as seats indoors are at a premium and also eating her own food out of Tupperware. Spoilt our otherwise enjoyable visit.

We decided to visit on a whim with our 3 kids after coming to a loose end in the school holidays. We've visited this place occasionally in the past and always left feeling the exact same way yet seem to forget and then return later to be reminded. Fully accept the blame. Archers is a farm with an ice cream shop stuck on the end of it to generate a tidy income and that's exactly how it feels. No thought or grace added. We arrived around 3pm on a Thursday and it was relatively busy. The car park (field) is completely unmarked and unmanned so there were cars just abandoned in the most ridiculous fashion to the point that it took us around 15 minutes just to park the car in a tiny field when it wasnt even full because entry was completely blocked. We should of taken the hint. We got the kids out of the car and made our way to the doors where there was a short queue. When we finally reached the front of the queue after what felt like a full scale war with a wasp army as we waited we were greeted with '...do you know what you want?' Errrm 'yes... I do, but it may take my 3 year old and 6 year old a little longer to decide' I replied. My little boy asked the girl for strawberry. She promptly made an adult cone for him... ideal My daughter asked for a tub of vanilla. That was slapped on the counter before we could ask for chocolate sauce on it. So when I did ask, it was like I'd asked for a full body massage and a cigar on the house. Just the sauce, thanks. My wife ordered hers and I ordered mine. (#3 child was spared the ordeal by being too young). We then sat down with the bank and financial adviaor and discussed how we were planning to pay for the ice cream and decided it was best to pay by card Just shy of 25 quid. Not bad but then I remembered I didn't actually get a massage or cigar. It was at that point we picked up the ice creams and slowly started moving towards the exit. The whole scene above lasted maybe 2 minutes but it seemed that was enough time to melt EVERYTHING. In the space of walking from the counter and out through the conservatory the kids icecreams had turned to liquid. Leaving a trail behind us that was not dissimilar to something from the Saw movies. No exaggeration it was EVERYWHERE. Just pouring onto the floor. Rather than offering to help or perhaps GETTING US NEW ICE CREAMS the staff were just staring at us the entire time. We made it outside looking like we'd just been spewed up by some sort of ice cream monster. Dripping and sticky. We were not at all pleased with our state but guess who was?! That's right. The wasps of course loved us and especially the kids. After about 30 seconds of trying to rescue the situation we gave up. Threw all of our liquid ice creams in the nearest bin and attempted to leave. Except we had been blocked in the 'car park'... brilliant. The 3 or 4 licks of ice cream were delicious though

Took the kids as a treat, like you do. Obviously age 4 and 2, they spend a long time choosing and are excited. Girl behind counter clearly hates kids?? Clearly irritated by th changing their minds. Just quite a feeling of unfriendlyness and that really annoys me at an icecream parlour. Obviously with 2 kids and a pushchair and 3 icecreams, how do we get outside? No offer of help, I ask for an icecream stand- "yes take it if you bring it back" what's with the attitude??? Why do I have to bring it back?? Can you not walk the 3 metres to help me out and get the icecream stand?! I didn't just persuade you to give me 3 icecreams for free. I paid £11 for those icecreams. Good job the icecream is nice, and there is a park on our doorstep or we wouldn't bother coming back.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

As today was the last day of our children's school holidays we decided to take them for an ice cream. It has been a while since we have visited Archers ice cream and after this visit I was reminded why we weren't in a rush to come back. I must say that the ice cream that my husband and children bought was tasty, however the service and cleanliness of the café was not great, tables were smeared and when my youngest child crawled under the table the table leg stand and floor was filthy, however as there was no where else indoors or outside free we sat inside where my husband and children ate their ice creams and where I received my cup of tea. Sadly the teapot my tea was served in was extremely stained (inside the pot and spout) and generally looked dirty and the tray that it was served on was pretty disgusting as it was badly stained, mucky and cracked. The café was at this time very busy so when a young lady who was clearing and wiping tables walked by I quietly pointed out to her the state of the teapot and tray that my tea was served in where I made the point that I thought both teapot and tray should be replaced. Disappointingly this young lady answered 'Yeah, okay...its fine' and walked off. This was not quite the answer I was expecting. I'm not quite sure if she heard me or was just not interested. After struggling to drink my tea from such a dirty teapot, tray and table we left. I'm sorry to say that I will not be returning to Archers ice cream after this visit. A shame as the ice cream is good and I'm sure that it could be so much better if just a few changes to cleanliness, customer care and a general spruce up indoors and outdoors were improved.

Queues can be a little long and slow especially on a nice day when people have come some distance because of the quality and reputation. Staff always pleasant and polite and serve as quickly as possibly depending on queue. Clean and well maintained in a typical farm setting where there are some animals and hens, although none yesterday. Well signed with brown signage although entrance comes up quite quickly. Short drive narrow with passing place. Parking field can be very muddy in and after inclement weather but adds to the fun if dressed appropriately.

Both were delicious and I would recommend these flavours. However, I purchased a 500g tub of rhubarb ice-cream to take home and have later and it was very disappointing, I could hardly detect any rhubarb flavour at all. It's a pleasantly located farm and shop to visit if you're at a loose end but don't expect to stay very long as although there are calves to look at, a play area for the kids and a couple of walks on the farm there's not much to do.

Best ice-cream to be had in the area. Lovely surroundings, great for young and old alike. This is a must for all lovers of ice-cream.

Been going here for years. It's nice as it's not such a long way from where we live. The ice-cream is always lovely, lots of flavours to choose from. The actual shop is pretty small and it gets very busy at times but still a lovely ice-cream shop.

Another Archers visit as I get my two in one. A lovely Cappuccino served with a small ice cream cornet. Cappuccino is always hot and tasty. Hubby had a tub of Ginger ice cream. Parlour always warm in winter with a great wood burning stove.

Arrived on pancake day to treat the family to some pancakes as the wife had seen it advertised some where, any way we arrived at 4.10 two other families where in there with children. We made our order 2 coffees 2 cakes and 2 pancakes the woman who looked miserable and looked liked she didn't want to be there, anyway she took our order and informed there would be a small wait. That's OK no problem. 30 minutes later and still no order, no coffees no cakes and no pancakes. My wife approaches and ask how long would it be to be informed it would be another 10-15 minutes !! As they where busy ? ? Busy I beg to differ .... asked for a refund and walked out... and shall not return. At the very least we should of Been served our coffee and cake while we waited what was presumably for the pancakes ... upset child and a waste of 40-60 minutes. (Included travelling time)

If you have not been to Archers before, what are you waiting for??? We go regularly through spring and summer just for an ice cream. The ice cream is to die for. So many flavours and it's home made. You can go on their Facebook page and tell them your favourite flavour and check out the newest flavours on sale. In the autumn and winter we go regularly for a hot chocolate. At least twice a month we go for lunch and I can't resist the afternoon tea. Sandwiches, cakes and scones with a huge pot of tea. Too much to eat so I end up getting my ice cream in a tub to go. Excellent quality and value for money. ☕

Have been here a few times while visiting the area and the ice cream has always been great. But when I visited during October half term that was a mistake arived around 3pm and there was a que to get the ice cream which was fair enough . But once we had got the ice cream there was no space in the parlor to sit down. Which was very disappointing about as the weather was not suitable for eating it outside. In the end I ended up eating in my car which i was not happy about and I feel sorry for those who had baught a hot drink then to find there was no seats. Seems a shame it has so much potential but needs a bigger space to accommodate people in half terms.

Visited again after our previous visit 6/7 years ago. A wide selection of flavours. We each had 3 scoops. Not cheap though, £5.50 for 3 scoops.

We have visited this place many times and have to say we are never disappointed. The ice cream is amazing, staff are so helpful, efficient and friendly and we love it. My little nephew loves the park and chatting with the cows and calves. Sue and John do a fantastic job and after reading some of the negative reviews, I just don't get it, your staff are fantastic and your ice cream is second to none. If you haven't tried it, give it a go. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!!!

Popped in here on our way home for an ice cream and it was well worth it. We got generous portions even though we only bought single cones and both ice creams were delicious.Staff were very polite and friendly. I bought 2 tubs of ice cream to bring home.I will definitely visit again

I was expecting the best ice cream ever and so was rather disappointed. I had the Oreo biscuit ice cream and the chocolate cone was delicious but the ice cream was not as creamy as I expected. My mum had the raspberry pavlova and that was delicious! My 3 year old loved the play area although it is very basic. It was nice to see the calves and cows. I'm not sure that we would go back as I have tasted better ice cream elsewhere.
