This farm shop and cafe is an absolute must to visit. It has the most lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and situated in a very pretty location. We always visit when are passing as Boo’s Chicken Stew and sausage rolls are to die for. And the shortbread is an absolute delight as are all the other lovely choices on there sweet counter. We have visited when the cafe was open and also stop regular for take away. Simply the best.

The cafe is currently closed so we took away cappuccinos and tried the sausage rolls which are really good - nothing like you buy at the supermarket or the bakers. We stocked up on organic meat and chicken for our freezer and look forward to going again hopefully when the cafe is fully open. You can ring up with an order for the shop to make sure they have what you want and they are friendly and obliging. Will be back.

I am a regular customer of this lovely family business farm shop and cafe and I love it. Although the cafe is closed, you can still have a drink and a cake outside in the sitting area which is a little gem. You can also have a light lunch with their new addition, the most delicious homemade sausage rolls I have ever had. That is how sausage rolls should taste.Totally recommend this place. Don't miss it.

My husband and I have just discovered this little gem in Piercebridge. There is a good selection of local produce and interesting biscuits, cakes, pies, desserts, teas and pickles, etc., in the Farm Shop, and a relatively small café. The first time we visited, my husband had the signature dish of chicken stew and mash, and I opted for the warm butternut squash salad with beetroot, cheese and crispy bacon. We were both delighted at our selections, so much so that we haven’t actually tried anything else on the menu! Every time we go we think of having something else, but don’t want to miss out on our favourites! The rest of the menu is mainly ‘snack’ food, but don’t be put off by this, as there are specials too. The cakes look lovely but we’re slimming!! Staff members are very welcoming and friendly and will try to accommodate your preferences.

Whilst out having a general run around enjoying the fine weather my wife and i popped into the Piercebridge Farm Cafe following a quick google search.... and wow, so pleased we did. Tucked away in a small corner of a farm yard opposite the church on the green, you'll find this little goldmine. Finding a table and it was the last one as it was clearly popular we ordered our food and drinks. I opted for their BLT, my wife, their warm bacon, butternut squash, beetroot and goats cheese salad with honey and mustard dressing, tea and coffee and to top it all a cheese scone and a slice of their homemade Victoria sandwich cake with fresh cream. The BLT was perfect, fresh lettuce, fresh tomato and some of the tastiest bacon Ive had in a soft brown ciabatta style roll... outstanding. My wife said her salad was the best she'd had and to be fair it looked amazing. Just as my cheese scone arrived and my wife's large slice of cake the owner approached us and asked if we could eat another salad and a full english. A hiccup on the orders meant these were spare and were being offered to anyone who wanted then, rather than waste them. TEMPTED wasn't even close, oh how i wished I had the room to demolish that breakfast, but reluctantly i had to decline, with a tear in my eyes. The spare bacon, butternut squash, beetroot and goats cheese salad was boxed up and gratefully accepted by my wife, who, if she could have slipped a fork away would have eaten it on the way home. My cheese scone was light, fluffy and packed with flavour, and a must for any passing trade. As for the cake... if the Ummms Arghs and more Umms were a clue, id say it was delicious. Both staff and owners were extremely helpful, friendly and certainly made you feel at home. Would we go again... in a heartbeat. And finally, their onsite deli. Packed with fresh locally produced products, frozen meals and fresh meats, yes we paid that a visit to.Oh Thank you to all, we'll be back.

Myself and my partner always try to pop in here when passing Darlington and our most recent trip did not disappoint. The new menu is exciting and incredibly refined and very reasonably priced. The new chef that has been brought on seems to be making some very positive changes. Lovely staff, great service and fantastic setting. We can’t wait to return.

Please dont spoil this little jewel of a place. Seems to be new chef and new menus coming in. I ordered garlic mushroom on sour bread it was lovely but the smallest portion I have ever seen. It was not even starter size let alone lunch size - and it was not cheap. Had to go home and have another lunch after paying £20 in the café for lunch for 2. The cakes and scones are sensible sizes but the food that comes out of the kitchen are extremely small portions and not value for money although good quality.

Pleasant enough farm shop cafe that states in its main entrance that it’s open until 5pm.Upon arrival at 3.35pm, we proceeded to chose a couple of things from the menu / counter - a sandwich & a scone with 2 cups of tea. The sandwich would have to be on sliced bread as the buns were all in the freezer. Couldn’t have the scone as they were part cooked & the oven had been switched off (I’m guessing it therefore mustn’t have an ‘on’ switch...)Reluctantly chooses substitutes which with the tea came to £9.89, when attempting to pay by card was asked if it could be rounded up to £10 and be given the 11p change in coins??? I was past caring & agreed to what I assume is the head honcho’s policy of ‘£10 minimum card payment’ that the member of staff wisely didn’t try to enforce.Food and tea both fine.Upon leaving, noticed a hastily hung chalkboard positioned at the entrance saying ‘Cafe Closed’ - at this rate it will be permanently.Won’t be going back. Won’t be recommending. Avoid

We go to this farm regularly and usually enjoy a hot drink and something to eat as the food is tasty and good in their cafe. The shop sells org. chickens, meat and frozen meals although Thursday is the best for buying fresh chickens. We can recommend pork and prune frozen meal, the pork melts in your mouth and plenty of it and the taste is mouth-wateringly good. Also for those with a sweet tooth try the homemade cakes. Good value and taste second to none. (especially the coconut) Hope you enjoy as much as we do.

Just off the shady village green, an unspoilt white-washed farm and outbuildings that gleam in bright sunlight, with courtyards set off by hanging baskets, tubs and hedges of roses and multi-coloured petunias. Organic produce, newspapers and a busy little café serving good coffee, tea, home-made-looking cakes as well as simple meals and sandwiches, which are best enjoyed (as enjoy them one generally does) at the sheltered outside tables, if the weather permits. There is a farmyard car-park and in the barn, a post office. Sometimes I feel the welcome could be a little more positive, and, of course, the part that is a British tea-room closes precisely at tea-time (16h00 - the shop stays open longer). Prices are average.

We often stop here when traveling from Surrey to Northumberland or vice-versa. Piercebridge is not far off the A1 and the café is a much more pleasant option than a motorway service station. Fairly limited menu, portions sometimes in small side. This time we had chilli con carne - unfortunately (and unusually) the chilli appeared to be missing though all the other ingredients were there. Still tasty in its own way.

I was very disappointed with the quality of food and service while visiting this cafe, and as a big supporter of local independent businesses it saddens me to say I won't be going there again. The two girls on the counter had little concept of customer service - we were stood at the counter and I asked if we could just sit anywhere and we got 'well yeah, but you order here first' snapped back at me. We ordered two breakfasts, both with mushrooms that you have to pay extra for (aren't mushrooms just a standard cooked breakfast item?!) and were surprised they didn't have black pudding as it's a farm shop. The breakfasts were served on basically a child's size plate and therefore the food was piled high. The 1 sausage had been butterflied and was pale and not particularly very appetising. The beans tasted strange. The scrambled egg was dry and rubbery and in the shape of whatever pot they obviously microwave it in. The bread was literally bread, rather than toast, and only one of us got mushrooms. The 1 slice of bacon was tasty but sadly that's not enough of a reason to return.

Stopped off here once many years ago enroute to Northumberland and now make a point of stopping here (and sometimes devising our route to ensure we pass by!). It's one of those places you chance upon with delight and you keep returning because every single time you're not disappointed. Everything's organic and really does taste better. The eggs and meat in particular are amazing! Good selection of frozen foods (all made on the farm) which are so much better than supermarket frozen foods, for example the sublime date and walnut sticky toffee pudding ;) Excellent cafe too, after a long walk recently along the Teesedale way it was just what we needed. We had the cauliflower cheese soup which was so delicious we picked one up from the freezer to take home for our tea! Coffee and cake is excellent too. Can't wait to come back and try the old favourites and something new. Quick word about the staff - Chris, the co owner who often serves in the shop, is so friendly and helpful and remembers us even though we only get to visit about once or twice a year (being Londoners!). Everyone else who works in the shop and cafe are lovely too. Keep up the excellent work - you're one in a million!! Great website too :)
