i applyed for postion as pot washer when arrived the head chef darren saw something in me something no has before and offered to train me to chef his methods of training are amazing brilliant chef one of the best places i ve worked it felt like i had a family lovely owners who always expected the best from there staff so all reviews about the food i thought id give review about actually working for them and inside to how staff feel ... all tips are shared never kept by owner the owners always make sure staff are valued and listened to i wish crowded house all the best and i no all customers that come are valued and any one who did nt enjoy food or anything should call in speak to owners explain and i promise they listen and will go out of the way to resolve the issue and make you happy... amazing place to work with amazing owners

Crowded House offers an exceptional dining experience with impeccable service. From the moment we walked in we were greeted to some good old fashioned hospitality. All the staff went above and beyond, even recommending a delicious wine that perfectly complemented our meal. The atmosphere was bustling yet cozy, and all the staff were incredibly friendly. We all opted for the steak, which was cooked to perfection, showcasing the chef's skill and quality produce. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. Most definitely we will be returning for more. Well done.

Love this place, amd recommend advance booking, especially key dates like valentine's, mother's day etc. A varied menu, so there's something for everyone if planning a group meal. They do a great Sunday lunch, and it's a local independent business. Well worth a visit!

I’ve not had chance to visit the restaurant for a good while but I will be back as soon as I can be! Visited with friends on a Friday night and was greeted by the owner and the usual relaxed ambiance. We ordered the Fish Sharing Platter and our friends the World Fusion Sharing Platter and both were outstanding. My particular favourite was the Tempura Sea Bass Fillet. Our table was waited on by Meg who did an excellent job and was very attentive throughout our visit. I’m already looking forward to our next visit.

I reported this to the restaurant they sent a picture of the pie ingredients saying it was gluten free, however I know because I ate nothing before or after this meal and had a true gluten reaction which the meal caused. I emailed the restaurant and was given no apology and they didn’t even bother to reply to my second email. If you have a food allergy I would be very careful in this restaurant!

A very rude lady owner asked me how long I'm on holidays in Bury, after she heard my foreign accent. I live more than 20 years in Bury so that comment made me feel very uncomfortable. Also, after I ate my meal i have asked for the bill and I have left cash on the table to pay for my meal but the owner assumed I left without paying, so she chased after me on the street! Unbelievable! On a good note, her employee waitress was extremely professional and very helpful so I hope the owner can learn from her.

Loved the fact you could order sides separately with the sunday lunch, the lamb was beautiful, pink and very tasty, staff and management very friendly and knowledgeable, would definitely recommend

Warm welcome, relaxed surroundings, lovely atmosphere. Perfectly looked after. I had the special of fish cakes, then special of apple strudel and custard. Husband had steak and affogato. Warm, comforting food with wonderful flavours. Lovely staff. Please continue doing what you are doing x

I was blown away with the ambiance both in ,& outside. From the owners to the service staff 💯 awarded. My son had fish finger butty to which he said (the best I've ever had). I couldn't finish my Lamb rump due to the portion size,it was no problem to pack up for me to take home. We will definitely be back in 2024 Best wishes to you all Cath o Neill Heywood .

Quirky restaurant in Whitefield. Food was beautiful. Definitely worth a try.

Booked a table for my partners birthday on a Saturday night. The venue isn’t huge but it’s cosy, stylish with a good vibe. There was an acoustic artist on for entertainment which made the place feel quite relaxed. Although the star of the show was the food, A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!!! We had the Camembert, which was delicious, the lamb rump, so tender and the sea bass was outstanding! Our waitress Sian was friendly and attentive too. Prices are a little more but for a special treat it’s worth it. Overall a great restaurant with great food and great vibe. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend! Thanks for a really enjoyable evening.

We've eaten here a lot as it's local to us We always have great food, good service and a lovely time. This visit was for a wine tasting menu with 6 courses to accompany. It was fabulous. Food was excellent. The wine was explained by the supplier and was married well with each course. The atmosphere, service hosts (Jo ,& Dave) were all fantastic. Visit this restaurant if you get chance ☺️

I got the fish, it wasn't too bad. Their appetizers were delicious though. Try the pork skin when you come here. Server was very nice and polite Felt very welcomed here. A cute little place to eat.

We have driven past many times and thought “we should go in sometime” what a great decision to finally book a table. From the warm welcome we received to the final farewell everything was fantastic. The decor was great, the skateboard’s were special. The food was gorgeous, well cooked and really well presented. All the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the food available. We will definitely be returning very soon.

We were a party of four, booked in advance, and arrived at this beautiful family run restaurant. I will keep this short; but just to say; WOW. lovely warm welcome, excellent staff chatty and friendly and the food? I had to see the chef; everything was beautiful but I love steak; their fillet was beyond doubt; the best I have ever had. So to finish, an evening of great live entertainment; great food great staff and incredibly hard working owners. Thank you for a great night.

Me and my partner celebrated the passing of her degree with a night to the Crowded House. From walking in we were greeted by lovely staff, a great atmosphere, accompanied with live acoustic music, the food wasn’t just amazing but unbelievable potion sizes! After a superb feed me and my other half were more than shocked at the value of the price for not just the food but the excellent experience we had! Couldn’t recommend anymore and thankyou to the owner and the lovely staff who all took part! Should all be more than proud of the delight you bring to our local area! Bravo!

Had the special of the day Duck Breast Ramen - absolutely delicious as usual. My wife had the Chicken and was equally impressed. We feel lucky to have such a high quality, welcoming restaurant in our neighbourhood. Great food, great service and a great place to eat- even more so when they have live music!

We came here for dinner on Sunday recently, completely unplanned and we hadn't booked. It was initially quiet so we got a table no problem. The staff were very helpful and polite I'm fairly sure every one of them asked if we needed anything ect. Our food came pretty quickly and I have to it was absolutely outstanding, can't fault anything about the place to be fair. We will definitely be coming here a lot more. Thank you to the staff at crowded house. It was a pleasure.

I took my wife here for a lunchtime treat. We haven’t been for a while and I wanted to sample the new menu. I was not disappointed. The food was excellent quality and yummy. The serving staff were excellent and very attentive. I can definitely recommend Crowded House for any occasion.

I really enjoyed my evening at Crowded house. Apart from the staff helping my friends to embarrass me on my birthday by singing me happy birthday (😆) the food was excellent, we had burgers, steaks , the hake which were all cooked perfectly. The service staff were friendly, polite, attentive, without bothering us, and obviously well trained! The decor is intriguing and eclectic - I'm not quite sure how skateboards made it to the ceiling but it didn't feel out of place somehow! Hope to visit again soon.

What a lovely gem! The interior design is great, the staff is friendly and the food is Great! Not your average local restaurant for sure. Give it a try if you are around. The chef is for sure a professional as the food have touches that you find in way more expensive restaurants.

Absolutely delicious with great staff!

My daughter booked this as the quirkiness of this restaurant appealed to her. The menus are somewhat ‘different’ with the sharing and fusion options etc. Personally my husband and I felt this restaurant was okay, but, could not give the rave reviews of some diners. My husband and son-in-law had Gammon, which they felt was quite salty. I had the sea bass which was okay and was served with a ‘large quantity of mashed potatoe which did not have any veg. Therefore ordered the mixed veg which I was disappointed with - Asparagus fine but the other veg was barely cooked red onions and a little yellow pepper. Again acceptable but would not describe this as mixed veg. I had the Crème Brûlée which was okay, but it was supposed to be served with mixed berries, which did not appear, only one single strawberry and a biscuit, so not as advertised but still charged the same price of £7.50. The price was average, not pricey but certainly not cheap. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant as it did not offer anything special for my husband and I and did not appeal enough for us to make a second visit.

Well, it's been a while since I've reviewed a place but this little gem has certainly reawakened my vigour for it. Visited this evening as a kind of belated birthday celebration with my husband and son and very glad we did indeed. We happened upon this place a few weeks back (passing by and grabbing a cocktail after the days plans fell through and instantly took to the place and it's wonderful staff and from the off had intentions to visit again an so finally did tonight), within seconds of seating ourself at the bar we were remembered by the owners, which to me shows great calibre on the customer service front. As someone with an exceptionally sweet tooth when it comes to alcohol it was our lucky day to find they had cocktails on 2for£10 and hell can the owner Jo mix like a minx (even doing us an off menu blend to account for tastes). The husband not being a big drinker happily sat at the bar chatting with staff and customers nursing his Peroni whilst me and my son dived headlong into the extensive classical and modern mixed cocktail list. Having been lured into great expectations (previously sampling delicious tasters) from Jo's lovely husband Dave on our first brief visit we were definitely eagerly placed to dive into dinner tonight. Our lovely waitress Sian, stood patiently while we chopped and changed idea's and orders, laughed with us, checked regularly everything was to our tastes as did the other young waitress that dropped drinks over to us. Both girls portraying the perfect mix of friendly and professional, a refreshing change to be served by people that clearly enjoy their working environment. And on to the food... we started with olives (and boy was it a substantial portion in comparison with some establishments weak efforts), hubby was first in there, impressed with the quality of marinade (too many places these days forget the little efforts like this thinking folk can't differentiate something tipped out of a supermarket packet). After much debate (I had my eye on far too many dishes) choices were made, Hubby had the Filo Kefta, which had a light pastry, adequate spice and smoothly complimentary dip, for main he went with the day's Special of Lamb with fondant potato, heritage carrots and a divinely velvety Jus which he thoroughly enjoyed (and he's hard to please, being well versed himself and making a point of getting the lovely Chef Darren a glass of wine in appreciation). The lad had a Sirloin steak burger cooked medium rare and is now demanding we visit again soon. lol I went with the Gravlax to start, instantly aware of the clean flavour from its curing cutting through (I even brought a titbit home for my kitty to enjoy), as for main, I'd initially had my mind on fish but upon discovering the owner Jo was also a blue steak lover I had to try one there and wow they really take care in choosing their suppliers because that was an A grade cut of meat, even my son (who prefers medium-rare) upon trying a slice said it was "an exceptional piece of meat" I had it with asparagus, no sauce and swapped out the chips for a feta/pepper bowl which worked perfectly as did the glass of Shiraz that Jo picked out to compliment it for me. Genuinely I can not pick fault (read through my other reviews I write honestly, pick fault where warranted and compliment where due). Had this lovely little find been in our usual local it would surely become a regular haunt ours for sure. I would 100% recommend this place and extend our gratitude to all the staff for making our entire visit memorable and perfect.

Me and my partner visited this afternoon for lunch, I’ve been before but my partner hasn’t! He was absolutely amazed by the place, the food, the friendly staff, the decor everything! Our food was the simply AMAZING we‘ll most definitely be back!

Had an amazing meal for our anniversary. Food was amazing, cocktails were even better, all the staff were very friendly and you felt really welcomed. The decor was quirky and had a relaxed feel to the place. We will definitely be back soon .

What an absolute gem. The owner comes and has a chat all about the origins of the restaurant and how they've adapted and developed. The food is so delicious and fresh. It's a beautifully decorated place with lots of 'regulars' making a nice ambience.

I very rarely leave an in depth review but the experience i had here deserves nothing less! When we arrived we loved the atmosphere, fresh and quirky decor and a smiling face to take us to our table. The menu was a mix of traditional and african touches, and the drinks menu had absolutely everything you could possibly want. Food arrived promptly and was delicious! I had the nigerian beef stew, my partner had the lamb shank and honestly it was spectacular. The beef was bursting with flavour and so tender, the plantain was cooked perfectly and so well presented. The ladies that brought our food over were lovely and chatty, nothing seemed too much trouble for them (i recall one was Georgia but have forgotten the other ladies name, apologies) they were on hand for everyone in the restaurant and seemed tending each table as if they were the only ones in. Great service. I ordered a cheesecake dessert which seemed like a work of art, a raspberry mascarpone cheesecake in a chocolate cage of sorts, and even though i was unable to finish it, again I can't compliment the chef enough-it was heaven! A bottle of the house wine was ordered to go with our food and we had a cocktail and pint since it was a Saturday night 😂 The wine was perfect and my cocktail was just as good as everything else i had tasted! All in all, this was the best restaurant i had been to in such a long time, if you want a relaxed atmosphere that offers fresh top tier food, this is the place and i cannot wait to go back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

10 of us celebrated my nieces 40th birthday here 30:3:23. The staff were amazing and the food was gorgeous with generous size portions. I brought a birthday cake for my niece and the staff had no problem cutting it up for us and allowing us to eat it after our meal. The staff even gave her a card and a balloon , lovely touch.

Beautiful food with excellent customer service

Johanne went above and beyond to cater a baby shower that I was arranging. I requested off-menu food for a party of 14 and was given a very reasonable price for this. The food was beautifully presented and tasted incredible, and the service on the day from the team was fantastic - I would 100% recommend dining here!

Had this years Christmas Dinner (2021) take away style from here. Excellent dinner for three mains could have easily done four. Visited tonight definitely not 5 stars more like a one. Jerk chicken starter come in a bowl with 3/4 full of water. And had my mains with peppercorn sauce and as you do you pure it over your steak and the amount of grinded pepper in the sauce was unbelievable the mains didn’t get finished And when asked how was the meal we told the staff about the peppercorn sauce and what looked like the chief and manager who the waiter told they all started to stand there laughing about it infront of us They said what do we expect it’s peppercorn sauce and laughed Would never go back was one of the worst restaurants I have been to Man with grey hair was very rude . .

I have visited several times and I have to say I have been disappointed with the food on every single occasion. I really want to be fair and so maybe on some occasions I just didn’t like the flavours or the style of menu however a Sunday roast should be a pretty standard regular meal but again I was extremely disappointed as the veg; carrot battons (prepacked), courgettes and cauliflower cheese were all really hard (undercooked). This has been an issue with vegetables friends and I have had with other meals here. Roast potatoes weren’t very good, paxo is paxo, chicken was ok. Shame as it a nice quirky little and quite pricey place.

After visiting a couple of times in the past I decided to visit again with my father. How disappointing. The menu doesn't seem to really have any direction. After a starter of calamari (which I know is from a bag) with sweet chilli sauce, something we've all seen on hundreds of menus over the years and prawns which lacked seasoning we both decided to have the dirty bird. What arrived was basically soggy fries (a mixture of normal fries and sweet potato) covered in cheese sauce and some fried chicken ontop, I can't think of any other way to describe it other than a mess. We both then decided to have the apple crumble which was clearly microwaved (the hard custard around the edge of the bowl gives that away) and a crumble topping that was sloppy, raw and almost comparable to a semi cooked roux, a generally disappointing experience,

Best place to eat outside of Manchester city centre. You will not be disappointed!! Food, drinks, service all top notch. The decor is great too.

Our GO TO place for date night. Large choice, great to mix and match based on how hungry you are. Staff are friendly, attentive and professional. Fab atmosphere every time we go. Highly recommend.
