We live local and been to this place many times and never disappoints. Booked Saturday 23rd March for my son’s 21st service amazing, food and drinks spot on too. Thanks again Colette Heron

We visited to Celebrate friends daughters birthdays. Set foods mixed options, pastas, pizzas, goujons etc. lovely staff, lovely food pleasant evening in hired room upstairs. Highly recommend

We went to dine at 6pm on Wednesday 10th January and the restaurant was closed, very disappointing.

The people really make this place. So welcoming and so fun. Excellent Christmas decorations and food yummy too.

A very upsetting New Year. Italian staff welcoming and the usual high standard.. Sadly the food was cold, served by untrained and temporary teenage staff on the busiest night of the year. No cutlery provided, food served cold . Teenage staff rude and ill equipped to deal with customers. No bill provided and no account of deposit paid with mixed messages from the wider team. No senior supervision of teenagers under the age of 18 serving. Complaints responded to with insults and embellished accounts , lacking integrity and appropriate customer service. Not the high standards of previous owners. New Leadership is required to bring it back to the hub of the Formby community.

Great location for a party celebration

Busy on a Sunday night with lots of celebrations going on. I was there to cheer Liverpool’s thriller against Fulham. Klopp didn’t join us. The starters, both the one with garlic and the spicy option were very good. The mains were excellent, duck and venison. The jus was just right. Service was attentive. Quite a wide selection on the menu.

Waiter and waitress very polite and professional looked after the kids 17 months 3yr, an 4yr old food was delicious all hot party of 16 very well done to all the staff will defo be going back 😀 👍

Went for my brother in laws 40th birthday celebration

Went to my nieces wedding here last Saturday, unbelievable atmosphere, the food was amazing, the place itself is fabulous, but the biggest shout out is for the staff.. each and everyone of you 🙌🏻.. you were amazing, thankyou, and see you soon 👌🏻

We had our wedding here both the daytime and evening reception and the only way I can describe it was flawless. Every single staff member who worked were fantastic, and went above and beyond to ensure both us and our guests were so well catered for, they're an incredibly friendly and competent team, a credit to both Tommy, Lynsey and the establishment, so much so all of our guests have commented after the event which speaks volumes. Lynsey and Tommy were absolutely amazing from the offset, and ensured the vision for our perfect day was delivered. I would recommend for any event you have coming up, to look to have it here, the venue is beautiful and staff so professional. The food was equally outstanding we had both a 3 course sit down meal, and an evening buffet, all guests with specific dietary requirements were catered for so flexibly and again the guests have not stopped speaking about how delicious the food was, it went down a storm which was so important to us. Lynsey and the team ensured throughout the evening that favours were distributed, drinks remained flowing and just generally managed our event perfectly, leaving us to be able to enjoy our wedding day without any stresses knowing they had it all handled. Thank you all- you are phenomenal ❤️

Sorry this is a very lazy review but suffice it to say I agree with every word in the review titled DISAPPOINTING !! Can’t understand why the reviewer has given his awful experience 5 stars ?? I would also add that the quality of the food for the price was extremely poor. Never been the same since Gabriel retired. Great shame !!

This place is an experience from the moment you walk through the door.. It's a true family business. If you are not actually party of the family, you're made to feel that way, even customers.. Don Luigis has to be one of the best eateries in Liverpool if you haven't been your missing out. With its instagramable decor and authentic Italian vespers, their ability to cater for large number and parties .... and even a birthday song from the Italian stallion hemself Pep, you are sure not to be disappointed. Tommy and Lyndsey, you have truly outdone yourselves . Your staff team is amazing! Some of the most amazing and polite staff I have ever come across in hospitality they are a credit to you and your restaurant.

Absolutely delighted with our first visit to this lovely restaurant. A warm welcome, delicious food and cosy Italian atmosphere! We will be back for sure. Have you thought of a more "tangy" accompaniment to mozzarella cores? But still delicious and such generous portions.

You’re not finding a better authentic Italian restaurant as good as Dons, at all! Every time I go, my mouth is in Italian heaven. The pasta is always so fresh and the sauces are always so so tasty, couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. If you’re lucky enough to go on your birthday, Pepe and the other waiters will make you feel very special with the birthday candle hat 😂 11/10 from me.

Absolutely amazing Time,, food fabulous atmosphere fantastic,, brilliant staff 😀 Think we payed £50 pounds over for what we had ,,, after adding up bill at home but hay ho, our error for not checking the bill , live and learn , but will be back to the restaurant, because it was a great night 👍

A last minute decision as our usual Italian was fully booked. I’ve got to say though this my very well be our new Italian…..it was outstanding. It was our very first visit but we’ll 100% be back. The food was amazing, portions were huge & service was faultless (friendly is an understatement). Awesome place & can’t speak highly enough of it

If you was going to the Toby in Formby forget it!... We went to Don Luigi's next door 😊.. Great service, great atmosphere, reasonably priced and lovely food we will visit here again the next time we are in this area (June). Staff were great too. Fish (big) n Chips (big) was excellent. My partner had Lamb cutlets, excellent.. Lovely surroundings Very happy 👍👍 Update.. Second time at Don Luig'sin in Formby and they did not disappoint.. We had a full rack of ribs between me and my partner.. Delicious.. I would have took a photo but just got stuck in.. The restaurant was full too. So book your table. The only this I can suggest to improve on it the time it took to get the bill 15+ mins asked several waiters too. I had to go to the deck eventually.. As we needed to get going..

So just noticed the #1 in Formby but after we went. The venue has been a family choice for 40 years obv with different owners, this was my father's 90th so we needed the best and what he deserved and got just that. Massive portions for the money and presented perfectly, honestly the staff were totally on point service wise but, all with humour and some real entertainers amongst them 😂. Even gave us a lift home after. If only more business's gave this level of care and attention, well done team and thank you.

Popped in today for tea after a trip to the beach. Warm welcome as always and service was great. Staff are so friendly and food was amazing. We had, bruschetta and garlic mushrooms which were really tasty. We then had meatballs and bolognaise which were perfect. Desserts were sticky toffee pudding, tiramisu and charred watermelon. Each one was delicious. Everything was reasonably priced. Fantastic visit and will definitely be back!

After a day at the beach we were all starving. I had a car full of wet dogs so wanted to avoid sitting in anywhere. We ordered two large pizzas to takeaway. The restaurant called to tell us our food was ready and I literally watched it leave the kitchen as we arrived. Really fresh, Italian style pizza. The wait was less than ten minutes, the price was reasonable at around £20 for the two, and the staff were really friendly. Great quality food which easily fed two adults and a toddler. I would highly recommend.

Superb Sunday lunch. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented. The lamb shank fell off the bone with no effort required. The service is superb, Pepe is just wonderful with everyone. The desserts are all homemade and will speak for themselves 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Great food, when it arrived! I was on a works trip on my own and called in before I checked into my hotel, the service team were really honest and attentive and said they had no space inside for another 30 minutes but there was space on the terrace, other people were eating out here as well. At no point did anyone say it would delay any proceedings with taking my order or getting food out to me. Saw more walk-ins arrive after me who got their orders taken before me which was disappointing, had the feeling I'd been forgotten about for a while. My starter didn't arrive until around an hour and 15 minutes after I sat down, which is definitely the longest I've ever had to wait. Overall, I wanted to like it more but it was definitely a disappointing experience. Thumbs up for the crispy beef the best I've had, and wanted to try dessert but had to get off so I could check into my hotel in time.

We were a big party, but the food was excellent and everyone was served at the same time. Nice atmosphere 😁.

Absolutely better place! Been her for a number of years and will do so for many more. Had my sons christening after party here and 70th's etc and I really can't recommend them highly enough.
