Piccola Italia in Sefton

The food is really nice however the service is something like I have never seen before. You walk in and the people behind the bar just stare at you as though “why are you here?” No one comes over to greet you when you have a table booked, so we stood at the bar for around 10 mins waiting to be seated, for them to just point us to our table from the bar. people behind the bar were rude and looked as though they had better things to be doing. No menu was given we had to go up and ask, same for cutlery when food eventually arrived. No one even served us we went up to order our food. It was honestly appalling. Also the staff were vaping inside which considering it’s classed as a restaurant is disgusting when people are eating food. We had a similar experience on our first visit but gave it the benefit of the doubt and booked again as the food is lovely. Honestly never again please put staff training in place for your own sake.

Food is the best Boss place to go

Food was really poor. Requested rare steak. It came to the table well done so got sent back. They cooked the whole meal again. This time steak was rare but the tomato and mushroom were practically raw & the peppercorn sauce was like dishwater. Chips were nice. Side of onion rings were burnt & the garlic bread was undercooked. 2 other diners said the lasagna wasn’t great. Table service was poor. No one came to the table to ask if meals were ok. No one came to the table to clear the plates and I had to go to the bar to ask them to return the steak & to order drinks & to ask them to clear the table.

Avoid the food is way below par we were a party of 8 we ordered some small plates as starters and told them they were starters they started to bring main meals with them so they took them back when they did bring them they were lukewarm and my steak was cold I immediately sent it back and good enough they cooked me a fresh one which came served on a cold plate it was a ribeye it was full of gristle and fat the menu states it comes with homemade chips they were frozen fries served with half a tomato and half a mushroom needless to say I ate a bit of steak and left the rest one person in our party had pasta which was lukewarm.i have to say the staff were pleasant and the small plates were quite good I won't be going again.

Good food, good atmosphere, good location, bit pricey

This place is awful, absolutly freezing, staff stood behind the bar playing on their phones. Menu is bar food at best!! Had to give 1 star so i could leave a review. Went elsewhere and had a lovely meal.

Went for my granddaughters birthday. Had to pre order meals before we arrived. No staff approached us to see if we wanted our meals waited 45min we had children with us and had to go to the bar and ask where our food was. Food was only warm when it arrived my granddaughters carbonara came with 2 hairs mixed in. Staff werent welcoming at all and looked like they didnt want to be there no service with a smile and no checking everything was ok with the meal. Wouldn't go back there again....

Been here a good few times even for a family birthday meal was very good. Not been for a while was disappointing menu had changed, had to order food and drinks at the bar. Found lazy for a small bistro Restaurant. Staff didn't feel like they wanted to be there. Compliments just dumped on table no offer if we needed anything else or how was your meal. Pizza was average, Pasta was ok.. Orded starter and main meal brought them all out together, so spoilt the meal. Wouldn't go again unfortunately. Shame such a lovely setting.!

this is a sports bar not an Italian kitchen as you may think. There are about ten tvs on the walls all showing horseracing and this was at 7.30pm. Food was awful, felt v rich and was clearly made off-site, it was very oily and for two of us with a glass of wine it came to £50. Tagliatelle was the blandest i've ever had - ready made Tagliatelle has more taste. I'd not recommend. Also place was empty so atmosphere was zero.

When I went to Piccola when I was younger for a trip, the place was remotely clean and had great food as well as a nice setting when you are eating. We were served mocktails, and it was really fun. I haven't be since, but i know it was a great place.

Avoid… Avoid!… Avoid!!! Served by rude inexperienced staff, food was a joke frozen nuggets for kids and cold pasta for the adults! Complained and waited another 45 minutes for a slightly luke warm dish, awful.

Ask for the carbonara pizza 😍😍😍 Staff, food, price, comfort, environment, choice, drinks, everything is 5 stars! Can’t fault the place. The staff go out of their way to make absolutely everyone feel comfortable and welcome. The food is always 100% and we always leave with big smiles.

Decent beer, plenty of screens for the football. Volume a bit to loud on the tellies.

By far one of the worst restaurants I have visited! Visited with my girlfriend a few weeks back and the lack of management, service, food quality was unbelievable, 90% of the food was frozen, completely wrong drinks order each time, rude staff the list goes on! Give this place a wide berth if you’re planning a quiet night out as fights broke out on two occasions because of the lack of security and dress code! Will not be returning!

Food not great far to salty and couldn't cut the beef

The menu is limited for choices and a bit pricey but it was nice enough!

Now a very busy bar since they had added big screen TV's and are showing the Premier league matches, friendly staff and good selection of drinks. Sunday roasts to die for but a bit on the expensive side.

The was about 8 of us went in for something to eat and then had no pizzas and if we want anything else we would have to wait for one hour ,but they didn't have much choice so we got off . That was on Friday night.

This was my favourite Italian restaurant before covid since then it has been revamped and is more like a bar that also serves food. I'm gutted :-( Service wasn't great either had to wait 30 mins before the drinks order was taken and extra items were on the bill, though the staff sorted this quickly with no fuss. Food was tasty though Overall I won't be going back.

Friendly staff, we were seated upstairs which was fine. We followed the waitress advice and ordered, nibbles, pasta and main courses. Food was really nice but portions were quite small. I would definitely visit again but order more food. Nice choice of wine.

Food was lovely as usual. However the music was so loud ... asked our waitress if we could have it turned down, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Such a shame.

Visited here yesterday , did not need to book and we were seated straight away. Weirdly had the option of a toast dinner which I selected , my partner chose carbonara and expressly requested no mushrooms which of coarse should not be present in proper carbonara anyway. Daughter had a spicy pasta dish . The table service was quick and polite but the carbonara arrived with mushrooms and had to go back . The roast dinner was below par and what I’d expect at a Toby carvery in terms of quality and a reasonable portion size . The first part of the restaurant consists of a bar and unfortunately this section became quite rowdy and a fight/scuffle broke out between two groups . I’m not sure I’d go again and think there is a case for a door person of some type at the weekends perhaps for the protection of the young staff too. For some balance my daughter loved her pasta dish and the drinks were fine . We split a garlic bread and another starter between us and had a wine a coffee a juice and some water which cost under£60 so not expensive really.

Dinner with family,meal and atmosphere very enjoyable, pleasant and helpful staff. Will go again.thankyou.

Me and my friends came for the first time for one of our birthdays, the staff were very accommodating and friendly the food was lovely😍would definitely recommend the lasagne, my friend ordered a specials dish the chicken and chorizo pasta bake and she said it was the best meal she had had in a long time. Thank you for your services!

Really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. The staff squeezed us in last minute even though they where busy. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Food was gorgeous, especially the chicken pasta Alfredo special. Definitely recommend for family visits, with friends or as a couple.

Shocking service tonight!! Visit quite regular but tonight was a disaster. No proper management on site., placed order and waited 40 minutes for food we asked waitress and was told they had forgot to put our order through and it would be 5-10 mins. 20 minutes later and still no food. Food finally arrived, one of my daughters ordered chicken goujons and received frozen chicken nuggets. We told the staff and were just met with argumentative staff who at one point just walked off. Chicken goujons whether on a kids menu or not are not battered frozen nuggets. A simple apology would of prevented this but we were met with hostility and the worst attitude from the so called manger. I would suggest the manager take a hospitality or customer service course. I’ve tried and tried with this place but I’m done. Food on food off, the place is an absolute joke

New menu is gorgeous! We all got different things and tried it all so good! All the staff are lovely and it's so good value for money. Been a few times in the past and will be going regularly. Can't recommend enough

Came this evening to try out the new menu, wow and wow again, we have eaten in many so called top restaurants and this was vy far the best. Homemade food that was just divine, we met the chef, what an amqzing lad he is, jay his name, he will go far, we will definitely ve returning and telling our friends and family!

Great food. The service was extraordinary. They opened the restaurant a bit early for us and accommodated our requests for making vegetarian food. Paula and the chef were super nice.

First time in since it reopened used to go a lot but will not be going again loud music a gang of teen lad's and couple of groups of 30-40 year old men out on the pop and run out of pizzas at 7 o'clock before we ordered did not stat to eat just left gone way down hill.

Finally got to visit our local restaurant and I am really happy with it! Food is good, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great. Can't wait to come back. Haven't tried the cocktails yet but they look amazing 🤩

We had a lovely meal here on a Sunday afternoon. The prices are good and the service was excellent. The only small quibble is that for an Italian restaurant the menu did not contain any Pasta dishes.

I've been twice over the last few weeks and had all the 'little plates' I've not got a bad thing to say about the place. Food delish, staff brilliant, vibe lovely and plenty of fabulous Gin! What's not to love 👌

I had fish finger sandwich which was delicious, pizzas were good also......the only disappointment was that there was only 1 choice of dessert, Calzone....banoffee or nutella......both had too much pastry......more choice of desserts please!

Been here on several occasions, prosecco and pizza day, evening meals and now the weekend breakfasts all great quality food and great service. The staff are always on hand and very welcoming. Always a great atmosphere. Highly recommend. Looking forward to trying the Sunday roast this weekend with my family.

What can i say...went on Saturday 15th of this month and was just stunned with how we were looked after so well by Annabelle our waitress and the boss lady. The place was very busy as to be exspected on Valentines weekend so it was very loud, they made a table up in a lovely quiet corner by the bar which was great. We ordered our food which was nothing short of superb and cooked to such a high standard, it realy is a gem of a place hidden away and already looking forward to going back . Once again a huge huge thank you to all the staff for looking after myself and my wife the way you did, well and truly above and beyond .

Food here is really delicious and portion sizes ensure you don’t go hungry, I often need a doggy bag! Nice atmosphere and really friendly staff with reasonable prices for a great meal, recommend!!

I have been wanting to try here for ages as it’s local to where I live and I was not disappointed. The Sunday lunch was delicious. I had gammon which was thinly sliced and tasty. The roasties were to die for and the carrot purée was divine. Strawberry cheesecake for dessert was fabulous. Prices so reasonable too. Staff very helpful Highly recommended

Meal started off nice with starters, main course which I had was smoked samon linguine, sorry to say that it was far to salty, it maybe just me, but my husband agreed, the staff and manager were very good and took it of our bill, its a nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Booked here for my daughters 30th Birthday. Really great night. The staff were great. Very pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. They knew all the details about the dishes on their Specials menu and took great care of the youngest member of our party. The food was delicious, cooked fresh and presented beautifully. They brought out my daughters cake and all the staff sang Happy Birthday. The ambiance of the restaurant was great, we had the circular boothe, which was great for our party. Will definitely be making a return visit. Good value for money.

Was here on 6th Feb. Celebrating my daughter's birthday. Mussels a la creme wasn't seasoned. Cheese garlic bread was burnt. Beef manzo special was over cooked, not much actual beef in it, nice flavour though. Lasagne was over cooked(pasta like smush) dry and too much mixed herb or dried basil, whatever they used. Spaghetti bolognese was again not seasoned, minced beef not seasoned. I think the sauce they used was just tinned tomatoes. The mince was not cooked in the tomatoes, just reheated together with too much garlic and not enough herbs. Nice looking restaurant but service wasn't very good, no one introduced themselves and no one was very attentive. 3 floor staff and someone on the bar should of easily been able to deal with the 30-40 people. I got the impression there was no team work going on and not sure who was in charge, if there was no manager this may explain the lack of coordination. Really wanted this to be nice as I live only 10 minutes walk away. Very disappointed. The seafood pasta and chilli beef special(although odd for an italian, I thought chilli beef was more oriental than Mediterranean) were very nice and the rib eye was cooked very well.

This is a great little asset to Litherland and much needed.Great staff good food but we feel like we are eating in a club disco not a restaurant.Please think about your music selection and noise levels.

Came here for my wife's birthday recently, and were treated to the same fantastic service from the staff as always.We had perused the menu online, as we like to order different dishes and try each other's.When we were seated, we were given menu's which bore no resemblance to the website, so began to make our new choices.We both noticed that there were quite a lot of dishes which contained chilli (a big no no for my wife), so her choice was somewhat limited.She plumped for goats cheese on toasted bread and i had the charcuterie board for one. We both enjoyed them (although the charcuterie board was huge).For mains my wife had spezzatino (a beef stew), while i had a belly pork and pasta dish,We both enjoyed the food, but there was way too much of it. In fact we asked for the leftovers to be doggy-bagged, and the spezzatino weighed almost one and a half pounds!!It's not our first visit to Piccola Italia, and it won't be our last, but please reassess your portion sizes, and definitely update the menu on your website.

Great restaurant good food pleasant Staff would go again

Been today and had the Goats cheese starter along with the bbq chicken wings both amazing, and had the Lasagne (with a side of lovely chunky chips) for my main and bbq meatball Pizza for the other half. Pizza went down very well, the Lasagne was out of this world, absolutely gorgeous 10/10! Vodka reasonably priced for a double, and the staff were well rushed off their feet, tending to everyone. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Deffo come back again and soon X

Went to Piccola for a friends 50th. It was an unlimited Pizza & Processco offer, think we paid £20 each for 2hours which was brilliant value for money. Staff were really friendly and constantly refilling glasses, also providing orange juice for bucks fizz if required. Pizza buffet also included salads and pastas. The food was fresh and really tasty, couldn't fault it and would definitely reccomend.

Lovely little restaurant, food was great, was a set menu but still plenty to choose from and very reasonably priced, staff where extremely helpful and polite which made our dining experience even more enjoyable, we will be back
