Hummingbirds Bistro Brackley in South Northamptonshire

Came across Hummingbirds by sheer fluke whilst having a walk with my wife. Amazing coffee, food & hospitality just what you need during these uncertain times. We always support independent when we can. The owners we very welcoming & all the food is freshly made on site. When I'm next in the area I will defiantly return.

We were very pleased with this restaurant. The food was really excellent, price affordable, and you couldn't fault the service in any way. They were genuinely nice, caring and thank you for the business. It was a genuine pleasure to find this place, however we almost didn't as tripadvisor states that it is open for takeaways only? I will say that I wish I had seen tables, menus and chairs sanitised as people left them in the current environment. And items shared such as menus, door handles and toilets. But don't get me wrong, the place is clean, friendly and worth a visit.

My favourite place to stop for coffee and cake or lunch, can bring the children, the dog and even the grannies. Wonderful food

During these unsettling times it was refreshing today to take a coffee and cake to park and social distance from my daughter who I have not seen in 8 weeks. The coffee was beautiful but the cake, well, it was the nicest carrot cake I have ever had. Individually cooked portion meant that the cake was moist and tasted delicious. Thank you to the ladies at the Hummingbird for all their efforts and calories at this time

Food and service really very good as always. Just so people know, dogs allowed in ground floor area where people with limited mobility or little ones in pushchairs can access. One dog was quite yappy during our visit. We were seated upstairs as usual and had not heard dogs before. Had a nice chat with owner when we were leaving about people with allergies to animals. After all there is a responsibility to those with nut, gluten, lactose allergies so why not animals? She pointed out sign on door which was informative but quite small. However, I now know what to look out for elsewhere. I'm asthmatic, so is my sister and she also has excema and her grand daughter has both conditions too. She kindly explained that if I been sitting in the lower area with my friend, and a dog had come in, she would have asked if we minded moving unless we had started eating.

There is only one place to go in Brackley, whatever the occasion and this is it! There are restaurants that have a distinctive vibe and mouthwatering, delicious food that make them worth the effort. Then there are restaurants that are brilliant for a variety of reasons or situations, and are amazing at getting the job done. Thankfully Hummingbirds is both! From the VIP treatment (roll out the red carpet) from front of house to the scrumptious dishes (the Michelin Star must be coming soon!) the master chefs plate, you can’t afford not to pay this place a visit.

Lovely bistro cafe with a friendly atmosphere. Love the hummingbird cake, too!Visited again this week and received the usual warm welcome, there is a good selection of food and the kids love the milkshakes. Good choice of food, including veggie options, and the food was delicious.

Regularly visit this great eatery for a meal (which always has vegetarian and vegan options) or just for tea, cake and a leisurely catch up with friends. Lovely, friendly service and great atmosphere.

We’ve visited Hummingbirds before to partake in lunch and afternoon tea, both of which we enjoyed, so thought we would try dinner this time. I have to say, going by previous times, we had expected to enjoy our visit but a bit apprehensive this time what with the murder mystery taking place. We need not have given it a second thought. During a very entertaining evening we were served a delicious three course meal (and drinks) by staff who were both courteous and efficient. The only question I have to ask is “how do they do it?” It’s five stars from me, yet again Hummingbirds ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I think we’ll try a ’brunch’ next time to complete the full eating experience. I Attended their murder mystery evening on Saturday. Food and service as usual was superb. This is a gem of a place, and is well worth a visit, for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea (bookable in advance) or just coffee and cake. They have a great selection of milkshakes and smoothies, as well as great coffee, butand for those wanting something stronger, they have a great selection of gin, plus all the usual alcohol spirits and of course prosecco.I'm looking forward to my next visit.

I am a regular but no more. I asked to exchange my egg for a sausage. (Allergic) Answer an abrupt no unless you pay for an extra sausage. waitress couldn’t have cared less.

I've been to Hummingbirds a couple of times now for a long leisurely lunch with a friend. The food is tasty but it's the combination of the food, generous soft drinks, good coffee and the pleasant, relaxed atmosphere created by the owners/staff that make this a great venue for a good old catch up. As a diner you are very much welcomed and never rushed.

Chose this based on the reviews on here; they were not wrong. Turned up. Got a table straightaway. Excellent and friendly service. Food was quick and good with a good selection for a lunch. We were not hurried at all which was good as we were catching up and having coffee as well as lunch. Will definitely visit again

Hummingbirds is " jewel in the crown". Friendly service, home from home, super homemade food, cooked with quality locally soured ingredients.

Had a really tasty light lunch here recently with my wife. Very relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff. Definitely would recommend it to anyone.

We had ham, egg and chips and a very filling three egg omelette. Everything was fresh and well cooked. The tea was in two very generous pots. The restaurant is very clean and the tables near the windows are bright. The service was attentive. A great little bistro in Brackley

Meet regularly for coffee with friends at this lovely little cafe, they serve great coffee and I would definitely recommend the Breakfast, really delicious, staff are really welcoming and friendly, service great, know I’m bias as I’m a local but they deserve a great review

Very welcoming and considerate staff. Lovely baked camembert, and the fluffiest omelette. The cakes looked delicious, though we sadly had no room to try them. But we'll be back!

We were recently visiting Brackley for the local antique centre. Having arrived on a cold windy day to find the antique centre didn't allow dogs (I don't quite see why but it was very much of the no dogs, no kids, no eating, don't take your bag as we don't trust you, no fun kind of place), we set off to find a dog friendly place to have coffee. And we were struggling until we stumbled on Hummingbirds in a little courtyard. We were given a great welcome and the manager let us know which of the many seating areas and tables were dog friendly. Staff were very friendly and chatty. Water was brought for the dog. It was so welcoming we decided to have a second breakfast (or early lunch) and had great sausage baps. I'd like my coffee to have been a bit stronger so if returning would probably ask for a double shot. But that's a minor quibble as this was such a great place.

Lovely, well run bistro with an interesting menu and excellent service. I had a cheese and tomato quiche with chips and coleslaw, the only problem I had was choosing which option to go for! Range of produce and wines to purchase and take home too, this place is well worth the trouble to seek out.

Support your local Independent coffee house instead of sending your money offshore at the Costalot on the Market Square. The breakfasts are lovely too!

This is a cafe rather than a restaurant. I was there as the guest of a local club and was served a tasty set two course meal. No complaints about the food but the real delight of this establishment was the staff. Very pleasant and obliging.. A real taste of "home cooking"

We stopped for a light lunch on a Saturday. The menu is small but there are specials and the food was very good. The burger was especially tasty with chunky chips and creamy coleslaw.

I like absolutely everything about this place, the food, the drinks, the ambiance, the people, enough said.

Varied menu to suit everyone, really nice staff everything home cooked. Only open for coffee and lunches but they have frequent speciality evenings which are great fun!

We came here with 4 generations of the family, Great Nana, Nannie, Granddad, myself and my daughter. The two ladies who run this place are Tracey and Nikki and they are very personable and friendly. The menu is small but extremely well executed with generous portions. We had an omelette, a cheeseburger, mixed breaded fish and chips and the sampler as well as a salted caramel sundae.

My husband and I were given a voucher for afternoon tea at Hummingbirds. What a treat! The food was lovely, great selection of sandwiches and cakes and the staff were super, super friendly. I would definitely recommend Hummingbirds.

We booked with 40 members of the Northamptonshire Heritage Forum for lunch and we had a really wonderful meal. Tt was served on time and the food was delicious. I personally will be back again, as I also expect will be many of our members.

The wife and I decided a cooked breakfast was in order. Friendly and relaxing. Breakfast was just beautiful. Can't wait to get back there for lunch.

Attended a birthday party here. What a Lovely place to have an event. Lovely selection a drinks available and the buffet that was set out for us was absolutely beautiful. Plenty of selection and many vegetarian dishes were included. All the food was so fresh and tasty. Cannot recommend The Hummingbird highly enough.

Every week I go with my 4 year old grandson and every week we are made to feel special and welcome by the owners and their staff. Great coffee and even greater food served with a friendly and cheerful smile. Highly recommended 😊

We decided to visit today after seeing a review on Facebook recently and I am so glad we did.

Tucked away from the Market Place, this Coffee bar and Bistro offers superb food at good prices and served by a friendly team who care about quality. Anyone visiting this popular bistro certainly will not be disappointed.

We stopped here twice in a few days on our way to and from a few days in The New Forest, our daughter and son in law found it last year and highly recommended it as a stop for all four of us as its approx half way on our travels. We had wonderful food both times and the staff were really friendly would highly recommend. The homemade cakes are so delicious too.

Sat outside after we stumbled across this little cafe down a magical sun-lit alleyway. Cannot recommend the coronation chicken jacket potato enough. Also, drinking water was crystal-clear and ice cold – perfect sustenance for a hot day!

We were in Brackley on a family break with my 80-something mum; we had experienced lunch at The Crown (separate review) and were looking for something lighter, in a fresher environment.

Walk half way through the main square in Brackley and keep an eye open for a little warren of shops and restaurants hidden away..a lovely, quiet suntrapped courtyard awaits.

Never been to Brackley before but passed on several occasions in the past, however when we did swing off the A43 and on this occasion did visit, we were looking for a place to have a snack/light lunch. There were places on the Main Street which appeared nice but pricey for what they were from the outside. But Hummingbirds is literally just a few yards off the main street and was superb. Lovely wrap for my wife and fantastic cheese and onion omelette for myself and although we were advised it would be 20 minutes as they were busy (we got the last table) I doubt that it was that long.

We have eaten here on 3 or 4 occasions now and the food is always excellent both at breakfast and lunch. It is good value and the staff are friendly and attentive without being in your face. The cakes are amazing and are take away!

I frequently visit Hummingbirds with different friends and family members. Service is always with a smile and food and drinks are reasonably priced.

I had lunch today with my husband and 10 month old son at the Hummingbirds Bistro. I do visit the cafe fairly regularly and always have such excellent service from the lovely ladies who run the cafe. Both my husband and I had the Cajun chicken sandwich which was delicious as always.

I have just had lunch with my colleague and what a lovely place. We where made to feel very welcome, the food was delicious and all at good price.

A place for coffee or a light lunch, with attentive and friendly service. No rushing if you want to linger for a chat. There are also lots of organized evenings and several local organizations meet here regularly. The staff take pride in knowing their regulars and always go the extra mile to please them. There are lots of coffee shops in Brackley, but Hummingbirds stands out from the crowd

Undoubtably the best bistro in Brackley. The 2 girls that own it are always helpfull and freindly. Only open at lunch time till 3.00pm. The food is so good you must visit this place.

Visited for breakfast with my wife and granddaughter whilst travelling to the south coast rather than stopping at the traditional service areas, and really pleased we did. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our food was cooked fresh and nicely presented, and the staff were proud to promote the fact that all their food is sourced locally. Parking nearby was convenient AND FREE for two hours. From posters displayed on the premises, they would appear to promote themed food and drink events, that all seem to be well patronised, and if we lived nearer would certainly be booking a place. The restaurant does appear to be well patronised and well liked as a friendly meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Will certainly visit again when travelling South.

Visited Brackley town as it was carnival day and called in for refreshments. Very quaint place, quick service, water provided for the dog. Clean and friendly.

Just to remind everyone that this is without doubt the best lunchtime menu I have ever had. The two ladies that own and run it are the best and most helpfull people I have come across. You really must book a table here, you’ll not be disappointed.

I was introduced to this bistro by a friend a few months ago. Since then, I’ve been back with all my mummy friends on several occasions. Each time has been fab. The food is delicious and the service is top notch. We often come in with multiple pushchairs (8 was the record the other day) and babies and we were welcomed in with open arms. Something which other places do not do. As a result, I will continue to return and recommend to anyone. Thank you

We visited the hummingbird last Saturday when Brackley was snowed in ,we went for a walk to the town & my wife recommended this bistro for some breakfast.

I visited Brackley to see see my Dad before Christmas and he said that we had to go to Hummingbirds. We all had the baked Camembert which is one of my favourite meals and it did not disappoint. A lovely Bistro with great service.

A group of 30 had a Christmas party here this week. Great atmosphere and fabulous food with friendly service. We liked the large variety of drinks, particularly the range of gins on offer. The party was excellent value and we even had space for a dance floor and disco after the buffet. Thanks for a great evening!

The food is very good - cooked to order and a good selection of food. It is best to book a table for a lunchtime as it is very popular . If you are in a hurry lunchtime you can phone your order in advance stating what time you want to eat

I stopped here with a friend for a coffee, and after seeing their tapas style lunch menu, to share, we stayed for lunch as well! Dog friendly (at the bottom part), family friendly and with a couple of sofas for lounging around having a coffee with friends, this is an ideal place to visit. Food is excellent and good value for money, great staff and they even sell produce & wine. Can't go wrong!

We used the whole venue for a work party, 23 of us. Just the right size and with the two distinct areas, suited hiring a disco. Food was lovely and well worth the money. Bar has quality products, with friendly staff.

Se sirven aperitivos ligeros, así como platos más sustanciales y todos los sándwiches recién hechos, la ventaja es que puede elegir su abundante entonces agregar cualquier chutney o acompañamiento que quieres elegir tu pan baguette envoltura //ciabatta para que realmente pueda personalizar su almuerzo. También tienen tartas caseras. Ambos tuvimos la pera y tomillo - una singular combinación pero absolutamente preciosa y tan ligero y blando. Muy buena relación calidad-precio para la calidad. Pequeño gran café local. En el almuerzo nos encanta aparece o simplemente café y tarta. A un par de valor para sus eventos noche realmente buena y en ambas ocasiones lo pasamos de maravilla.

Five of us went to Hummingbirds for a drink on a Saturday afternoon. We waited over 20 minutes for our drinks. I had Prosecco, which wasn't properly chilled, I didn't send it back as I didn't have time to wait for another drinks order to arrive. I mentioned this when I paid and was told that they had been very busy and they knew that it wasn't chilled, and that they should have told me. I would much rather have been told up front, so I could have chosen something else, particularly as I suspect this was what held our order up in the first place.

What a welcoming place, cater for weaning babies and celiacs too. Delicious food, outstanding cakes and excellent coffee.They have baby changing facilities, a little tight but manageable. 5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Went there for a lunch with family and were greeted with a very warm welcome. The three different main courses we had were all excellent and piping hot. The deserts were amazing, we had 2 between 3 of us. The triple citrus cake was terrific but the jewel in the crown was the chocolate and beetroot cake topped with dried rose petals. WOW ! Definitely a place to try in Brackley.

Cakes are out of this world and they make all sorts and is a joy to try them, comfortable surroundings and friendly staff,. I meet my friends each week and it's a pleasure to be there. We have eaten there for lunch and enjoyed it. My husband is very hard to please with food but even he enjoyed his lunch!.

We found a place to get out of the rain. They immediately moved tables to seat 8 of us. Extremely friendly and when asked about places to visit went out and came back with aload of information for us. The coffee and cakes were good as well. We all went back the next day.

Came here for a small lunch on my own and was pleasantly surprised! The staff are attentive and friendly but not in your face and the food is all freshly prepared. They have a selection of books to browse as well as a small selection of crafts to buy. Lovely atmosphere for a peaceful lunch and for a reasonable price too!

My friend and I stopped by Hummingbirds for coffee after lunch. The coffee was okay,but the environment was very nice.We didn't have any food and the service was pretty good, so I will go back, but I won't order the coffee again.

So glad we chose Hummingbirds as we did originally plan to go into another cafe which I had always wanted to after driving past many times.Although my friend was hesitant as she had been in before and wasn't impressed we gave it a try and sadly we left (That will have to be another review on Trip Advisor!)But I am so glad we did because as soon as we entered Hummingbirds we were welcomed and served promptly ...So A lovely afternoon of coffee and Lemon cake ...although closing at 4pm we were not rushed and allowed to sit and chat..We will certainly be back and next time for lunch.

The ambience..food ..service and cleanliness of the humming bird are outstanding. The service is consistently of a warm welcoming and high standard...even during very busy periods. I first visited here for a pot of tea with friends ...which is served in a pot with a decent sized tea cup. Then several times for breakfast which is reasonably priced and the ingredients used of a good standard. Scrambled egg made properly not in a microwave ...poached eggs perfect every time I've had them. Lunch was our next visit and again great prices for exceptional baguettes including a large filled gluten free roll at no extra charge than the standard menu price for my daughter. Out of the way and often forgotten by people ..This place is a total gem !!!...

This is the place you should go in Brackley for great coffee, light lunches or cake! Try the Hummingbird Cake and you will never want another sort of cake again. It is amazingly good! Their themed evenings are great fun with wonderful food and the most friendly atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble with always a very warm welcome. They also stock an excellent range of wines to have with your meal or to purchase.

Fabulous cafe serving great coffee and cake, and delicious freshly cooked food. Seem to be able to cope with any of my crazy dietary requirements of the moment (they change!) and wonderful welcoming staff .. I hear they have some fabulous pre bookable evenings too ;)

We found this lovely place by chance when we stopped to break up a long journey. I have difficulty finding something I can eat, due to the fact I'm a vegan. My husband is a vegetarian. We asked what they had on the menu and they said they could make me a vegan meal. Offering me lots of choices. Everything was delicious! When we left we saw their freshly baked cakes and joked about ringing them to order vegan versions for next time. They said yes they could do that! We hope to go back there soon.

Found this little gem by accident, wandered into this courtyard, decided I needed a coffee. Just as I arrived, the young lady was serving some breakfasts, they looked so good, I was tempted (it didn't take a lot)The choices were made, all apparently locally sourced, it tasted wonderful, well cooked and tasty. The coffee was one of the best I've had for ages.The staff were very efficient and friendly. Browsing through the menu ensured that when in the area again I will be visiting here. Highly recommended

The owners are very friendly and remember customers. The menu is interesting, although not extensive. A good range of wines are available. During the day it is a lovely lunch/ coffee venue, they also have great themed evenings.

Visited for the first time last week with friends for lunch. Nice setting, friendly staff and good service. Just a bit odd that the bill came with an extra cost for tax, when we asked what this was for we were told that the prices on the menu hadn't any added tax so it was an extra on the end of the bill. Bit odd as obviously your expecting to pay the amount stated on the menu.Would still go back again as I'd obviously be aware for future visits.
