Luci's Restaurant and Cocktail Bar in Midlothian

New menu is great, food was excellent, one of if not the best restaurant in the Lasswade/Bonnyrigg area. Good to see a restaurant busy mid afternoon on a Sunday.

Had lunch yesterday with a friend and our girls and what a fabulous afternoon we all had. The food was amazing, service is fantastic and a lovely atmosphere too. My girls absolutely love Kevin and he is such an asset to the place! He's is cheery, has a laugh and is always helping somebody or making them feel welcome. Pizzas are pasta were so tasty and fresh. Great selection of wine/drinks. The place is immaculately clean. Looking forward to our next visit already. Thank you!

Lovely food , we both got chicken parmagano and it was so so nice....excactly what a parmagano should be , truffle fries were excellent and the tart tatin was delicious!! The service was fantastic , lovely staff. its our second visit here and we will definately be back again .

Not Impressed! I ordered chicken parm which consisted of an over cooked chicken cutlet, a blob of so so sauce, cheese and a blob of sticky spaghetti right on top. I sent it back and ordered Mac & cheese which was more their speed. Pretty pathetic for prices charged. A chef with some skill & imagination might be nice.

We enjoyed an early dinner here this week! We had pizzas (deal of two for £20) and had affogato and ice cream for pudding. Service was cheerful and food awesome! Will return!!

Have visited this restaurant several times, and keep hoping that it will get better. It really doesn't. The setting is great, the staff were polite and reasonably quick. But the food really is a hit or a miss. When presented with an A La Carte menu, the expectation is for top class food. It's not that, by a long way. The starters were ok, calamari, ravioli and arancini. Pizzas were ok too. But, the Spicy sausage pasta was undercooked, wasn't spicy, and the sausage was tough, tasteless and bitty. I couldn't finish it. The carbonara arrived with the egg yolk on top all ready to be mixed through the dish... it was rock solid. The pasta was tough and tasted undercooked and tasted underwhelming. The meal was £200 for 5 of us, 2 courses each some diet cokes, and a bottle of wine. The price is fine if the food is great, but it wasn't. If pasta dishes aren't cooked fresh they aren't worth eating. If these pasta dishes were cooked fresh, then the chefs need to really practice them, and I would highly recommend the owners taste their own menu. If they think that's good food then they need to think again. Disappointed ... again.

Really enjoyed our recent experience at Luci's. The service provided was very polite, efficient and attentive, whilst the quality of the food was excellent. Would definitely return - highly recommended.

Booked here for Valentines evening with my partner. Pleasantly surprised to find a special menu, 3 courses for £30, which proved great value. The burrata starter in particular was sensational. All washed down with a large glass of Pinot noir. Highly recommend.

Cocktail bar lovely bar staff very attentive. Taken through to restaurant by front of house staff restaurant beautiful. First course garlic and rosemary bread but had to advise waitress needed a dip very dry . Main meal was presented lovely unfortunately cold plates not heated spoiled what should have been a nice meal. Overall a not to bad experience but would try elsewhere.

Really disappointed with the welcome given by female server. From the minute we arrived she gave us the impression that we were not welcome. Everything was a problem from asking for a high chair to telling her we had a voucher to pay… (voucher monetary which was a Christmas gift). Menus on website out of date. I specifically went on a Sunday as I liked the look of the Sunday lunch menu. When I asked the female server, she said they had not served this menu for over 2 years.. Again with an unfriendly manner. This female genuinely spoiled our little family day out with the way she made us feel. I have read another bad review about her too.. I’m not sure what her role is in this business but she needs to be aware that her attitude is not good and she should never make people feel the way she made us feel today. Otherwise the restaurant is lovely in a nice setting and the food was nice too. Shame about this female….

Love dining here, food and service is always fantastic and friendly, great wine list too. Ordered the steak ciabatta and carbonara, excellent quality and portion sizes, can’t wait for my next visit.

Love the food and atmosphere here. Good value on the deals through Itison. Kevin and Natalie are very helpful and sociable. Service is very efficient and they have a good range of cocktails.

Cannot recommend highly enough. We were looking for a private space to host a family dinner for a 60th wedding anniversary. From booking to dining everything was seamless. As this was during the busy Christmas period we were asked to pay a deposit and pre-order our meals. This actually made it easier for everyone as instead of having to decide on menus on the night we could meet and chat on arrival knowing the restaurant had this in hand. We had the mezzanine level all to ourselves and although the restaurant was busy, the service was excellent. The meals were delicious. Extremely tasty and very well presented. 12 adults and one child and not one complaint. Businesses get a hard time if anything is not right so I feel they should also be recognised when they do it well, which Luci's really did. We will be back. Thank you Luci's 😊

I booked this to take my Parents and my 2 year kid son on Christmas eve. When we arrived I was disappointed to be immediately told that if anyone wanted the 3 course lunch then everyone had to get it. We had two vegetarians for which that menu didn't have much choice but my parents were keen on the festive menu. This caused alot of stressing and when asked further the wait staff didn't really give any explanation. We decided to all go for the festive menu so my parents could have what they want but I was disappointed as we wanted to pizzas. Instead we go camembert starter which had bread that was really really hard to eat and gnocchi which had butternut squash pieces that were a bit hard still. We really enjoyed the tiramisu dessert and my parents enjoyed the fillet steaks, although it came with only chips and no veg. I was a bit disappointed as we never been before and I took a risk booking it for Christmas eve meal. With that rules around the festive menu for the table as a vegetarian I wouldn't book again but might return to try a pizza on a less special occasion.

Pre-Christmas lunch catch up with my friend. Warm welcome on arrival and friendly staff attended us throughout the meal. The restaurant was super cosy and beautifully decorated for the festive season. We ate from the lunch menu which is super value at £10 a head. Food was freshly cooked and delicious. Portions are large. We ordered sides which we didn’t need!! We’ll definitely return..

First time in Luci's for lunch and won't be the last time we visit. My wife's steak was cooked to perfection and my pepperoni pizza was delicious. Kevin who looked after us today with 5* service was a perfect host. Look forward to many more visits. Only downside is lack of disabled parking..

What a fantastic place. Recommended by my husband’s colleague and did not disappoint. The food was wonderful, I had the chowder followed by tagliatelle with mushrooms and truffles. Husband had garlic bread followed by chicken with veg. He said it was lovely. I had dessert, popcorn panna cotta and the most amazing ice cream. Cocktails were lovely and the staff were amazing. I felt very disappointed, I came a few weeks back with my girlfriend, and since then, I've raved to everyone how the food on the menu was and how amazing a meal I have had was. I think I even said it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. Tonight, I was very disappointed to find the menu had changed. My girlfriend had been looking forward to her birthday meal here for weeks but she was heavily disappointed by the bland new menu and lack of choices from before. Ruined her birthday, thanks she is crying now 😭

Food is delicious and exactly what you'd hope from the description. Wait staff were very good with two children aged 2 and under. They also have colouring pencils and kids menu, with a competition on the back to win a £30 voucher each month. Slight inconvenience is the limited (and bumpy) parking, available at the front of the restaurant.

Lovely spot for lunch, food was excellent, service superb and they were great with the kids. Highly recommended.

Staff where amazing, restaurant clean, warm ,friendly. My son has a.s.d when we where in the restaurant my son started having a wee melt down,but kev he took care off us moved us too another table that looked out too a wee river and enjoyed a family meal,was lovely the staff are amazingly really helpful highly recommend food drinks prices great

This was the first time my friend and I had visited Luci’s and it won’t be the last. I would definitely recommend, not only the aesthetically pleasing surroundings (super clean all amenities), the relaxed, chilled atmosphere and the wonderful food and drinks. The very friendly services was the icing on the cake. Especially Chloe who made our night, she took great care of us and is a wonderful asset to Luci’s. If you’ve not been yet then go. Highly recommend.

Great venue with fantastic staff (especially Kevin) who went above and beyond for us. Food was delicious, cocktails were gorgeous and bill was very reasonable we can’t wait to return.

Would love to make this a positive review because the food and drinks there are excellent, but the car park surface is beyond shocking. There aren’t potholes, there are entire sections of the road surface just missing. The worst being bang in the middle of all the parking bays turning points, so you’re almost guaranteed to hit it. Even with slow speeds of a couple miles an hour, the base of the car hits the ground if you’re unlucky enough to hit one of the circa 73 craters that are there, which aren’t really avoidable so you’d be forgiven for doing so. It really ruins any good opinions I could have about the other aspects of the establishment. It’s not hard to have quality facilities. Just because it’s outside the restaurant, doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter.

Have been for here for cocktails and that was great. Friendly staff. Would like to be able to come here for food as I live in Lasswade, however my partner and I are vegan and there are pretty much no vegan options (focaccia and side portion of vegetables is about it) which is a real shame. These days almost all restaurants have at least one decent vegan main option (even the traditional pub over the road does!) so I feel Luci’s need to up their game.

We went here for lunch with friends the other day. It was our first time since the new ownership/refurb and we were very impressed with the design and and how immaculate it looked. The gent that served us was very friendly and helpful. The Sunday menu was new and caters for most diets. Most items were reasonably priced. Portion sizes were good and were well presented. I had the gnocchi which was very tasty. Quite possible the best gnocchi I’ve ever had. I got the haggis bon bons for a side and also the steamed broccoli with almonds. Both of which were excellent. I took my daughter and mum for lunch as a start to her 80th birthday celebrations. The restaurant itself is classy, modern yet intimate. Sadly I was driving or I would have tried one of the many advertised cocktails. The food choice is broad enough to please most tastes. The cured salmon starter was sublime! A pizza, a pasta dish (great recommendation by our host, Kevin) and the beef main course was enjoyed by everyone. We were all so full we did the polite thing and looked at the dessert menu. I couldn’t. My daughter also said she couldn’t but the head of the family deliberated and then plumped for Limoncello panna cotta. Not only did Kevin give us his undivided attention throughout the meal, he brought mum’s dessert with a candle in it…and a complimentary taster of the sticky toffee pudding because she couldn’t decide (also with a candle!). So incredibly thoughtful and kind. We left Luci’s feeling well looked after, well fed and full of praise for such a wonderful lunch. Thanks Kevin and staff for a very memorable lunch. Definitely recommend.

Last night we decided to go to Luci's to celebrate my birthday. We always had amazing food and service there but I believe that since our last visit ( over 6 months ago) either the management and the staff have changed. There was a problem with the bill..we paid and then I realised that they overcharged us ( almost double). We were fine with that, things like this can happen. A nice waiter gave us a refund and a new bill.. however the new bill was wrong again. Third time is a charm, finally we got the right bill. Finally the person I assume was the manager came to our table to apologise for the mistakes. However I didn't appreciate them blaming the new staff. I would assume if you have new staff working with you, you want to supervise them and take responsibility if something goes wrong? We even paid for the service charge which I feel, considering we got our bill wrong twice and charged for, they should have not charged us for due to the two issues. We ordered pizza and it was ok, mediocre, not excellent this time. I remember last time we were there we really loved it! But not this time. Cocktails were still great.

Went in to have drinks and some food with family who travelled from Newcastle and couldn’t of been more disappointed… there was a lady who worked there in normal clothes ( looked like a manager or something ) and she was so stuck up and we felt like she was looking down on us while we were there ordered our drinks and couldn’t stay any longer so we paid for them and left. Restaurant was clean and looked lovely just a shame that one staff member let it all down.

Called for a reservation 6.30 for 7pm and could accommodate us which was amazing. Arrived and was seated, had drinks food order, food served and eaten and was finished by 7.45pm!! Amazing. Restaurant has a great atmosphere, music selection is soulful and staff are friendly and knowledgeable! The food was probably the best Italian I have eaten in a while! The house special rigatoni was delicious and he truffle and Parmesan fries are a must! We didn’t know before booking but during January they have 50% off pasta and pizza so we wee definitely surprised and was definitely will be back!

Enjoyed a lovely wee night with my husband at Lucis. The 50% off in January deal is fantastic value for money, and were delighted when the waiter informed us of this deal! I had the Quattro Fromaggi pizza, and my partner had Spaghetti Alla Carbonara. Both were beautiful, and the pizza had a great strong cheese flavour (which is exactly what I wanted!). We also had a side of Truffle & Parmesan Fries to share, which were very crisp and tasty. The staff were very professional and polite, however the only very small issue we had was we waited a while for a menu and to order a drink after being seated. You also had to be quick in catching a member of staff to order another. Overall, a lovely meal and would recommend to others.

The ambience off the restaurant was so wonderful warm and we were invited in with the most delightfull young man (kevin) he proceeded to give us the utmost attention and service for the rest off our lunch too perfection... I've been recommended this restaurant by so many people, I decided to finally take a friend for her birthday. It was definitely worth the hype, the place is lovely, easy to get to (the bus stops right outside which was a fab bonus) and the food was incredible! We got a couple of cocktails which I did think were sightly expensive considering 1 was about 80% ice, but nothing super outrageous, and they tasted great so I didn't mind too much as it was a treat! Only a couple of tiny things made me score it less than 5 stars- it was a Saturday night so pretty busy which means it was quite loud and a little difficult to get service or attention at certain times (which is absolutely understandable), and again the price was a little more than I would have thought for what we ordered. But overall- a very nice place and if you want somewhere fancier while avoiding town its perfect! I will definitely be recommending it to other people myself!

Such a surprise of a visit, honestly just an incredible meal, where we were treated to a fantastic environment, amazing food and staff that went above and beyond to help with my daughter.

Nice location beside the river and pleasant decor with good service. Unfortunately the pizza although tasty was dry and lean on the toppings in the middle making big crusts. Sadly I wouldn’t bother going back
