On a whim, I ordered Sunday lunch for my husband and I and my parents (who live across the road from us). It arrived within the time we were quoted and was absolutely awesome - meat was proper meat (not processed) and vegetables were great. Puddings too were awesome - would have posted photos but was too late as everything was polished off in double quick time. Awesome food and great value - thank you

We decided to visit after hearing good things on our way back from a caravan trip, I’d rather of cooked the food was a let down none of the veg was cooked properly the mash and turnip was so lumpy they might aswell left it whole and the meat stringy fatty horrible just awful utterly flavourless! we will never return £25.80 in the bin.

We ate here some time ago and it was excellent, what a difference. Only two choices of meat other than mince and dumplings, stringy inedible beef or fatty inedible gammon and unmasked turnip. The meal had no taste whatsoever, we both left more than we ate but sure the dog will still eat it. Extremely disappointing, poor value and no chance of a return visit!

Unfortunately despite being a smart, large, clean and tidy venue the carvery meal and lack of any alternative meals were a real let down. The beef was too tough to even cut let alone chew, it was gristly and inedible. The turnip wasn’t mashed and the potato didn’t look appetising at all. There was only two other diners eating at a time when we expected there too be a lot more. The dessert appeared to have been a microwave type so all in all not somewhere I will go back too.

Normally a regular customer but today I was very disappointed we had to wait to be seen and the Q was long plus they started to run out of things and when I finally started to eat the food was average won't be going back again as I think it's going down hill since the other chef has gone !!!!!

Visited today for Sunday lunch, stood for 20 minutes in a Q of 6 as they were running out of items. First no mash, then parsnips then gravy. There seems to be a definite shortage of staff and organisation. The chef at the front who places your choice of meat on the plate also had to run after the staff in the kitchen who should be coming out to check which items are running low, not waiting until they run out and then have customers wait with half full plates. The phone never stopped ringing, which no one had time to answer, with people for the takeaway lunches, l presume, as it appears to be very popular. Each unanswered call is lost revenue in my opinion. The meal itself was very nice and we enjoyed it, but they need to be more organised and they definitely need a few more staff, tables needed clearing, takeaway orders needed taking and assembled and people needed serving... If you walk in to tables full of used plates and cutlery, it's not a good sign and tbh, it wasn't very busy today...

Tried this venue for the first time and both myself and my wife were very impressed. The Carvery meal was xcellent with a choice of four meats and a good selection of vegetables, bar service was good and all staff helpful and friendly. The only disappointing item was the gravy which was very watery, another problem was making contact as when I googled it the number shown came back as 'You have dialled an incorrect number'.

I had never tried the New Mill before now but had seen the carvary advertised when driving past. I ordered Sunday lunch to be delivered. The person on the phone couldn't have been more helpful advising of the choices available. Delivery was really fast and the meal was delicious. Tender roast beef with seasonal vegetables, crispy roast potatoes and creamy mash. The Yorkshire pudding was wrapped separately along with a carton of piping hot gravy. I couldn't fault it and cannot wait to go along and eat there. They have certainly gained a couple of new customers today.

Serving Sunday carvery 12.00-15.00 but a victim of their own success on the day we visited (been a few times), it was 13.30 and food was running out (but was later replenished}. £6.95 for and adult meal, beef was lovely, vegetables just right, no roasts and yorkshires when we got served but some arrived later but i was happy with the meal i got as i think i have had enough roasties and yorkshires for awhile. So highly recommended.

Came with my 8 month old baby boy. Since he's fully weaned I thought I'd try him with a Sunday lunch. My son had the beef and I had the turkey. The turkey was so juicy and full of flavour! My son seemed to really enjoy the beef also. I tried a little and it's safe to say it's the best I've ever tasted. With seasonal vegetables that were served to perfection and gravy that was full of flavour! We will defiantly be back and I will be recommending this pub to friends and family for Sunday lunch!

Entering from the car park the room in warm.nice on a cold wet day.A friendly barmaid served the drinks and we look seats on raised area. Its not quite 12 yet so the room is empty.family's start to come in with children running around.we decide to move over the other side, which was a drinking area. The place is just off the main road into the town on a large council estateIve nothing against children.but its not a playground,in fact there are lots of dangers, hot food and glasses for I start.and bit respect for other diners.a chalk board on the wall requests this. We get our food. The beef looks a salmon cut and is very fatty.there was a good selection ofvegetables sprouts, carrots cabbage and French beans.at under £16 this was low cost.

I'm a 30 something year old woman, who has ate at a variety of places. This is by far the best Carvery I have ever tasted. The Roast Beef melts in your mouth. The Turkey is always moist and tasty. There is an abundance of fresh veg, Roast Potatoes, Mashed, Boiled, Stuffing and OMG the Yorkshire puddings. All topped with the best Gravy I have ever tasted (Please don't tell my mum). Sundays are a pleasure now. Hassle free. No more complaining of timings and standing over ovens for hours. The Jolly Carvery are by far the best. See you again Sunday. Although my mates want to come in on Wednesday (Ladies who lunch and all). My Mate also said she is going to eat her way through the dessert menu. Caramel cheesecake first.

After saying that we must go there sometime....we did. I took my Mum and daughter for a well cooked lunch. The staff showed us a great North East welcome. The food was well cooked and the mince and dumplings were to die for. The Yorkshire pudding were massive! Even my daughter who is a student could not eat it all. The price was very good value. We will return.

Popped in here as i had heard good things on the grapevine and i was not disappointed, the carvery was one of the best i have had and excellent value at £6.95 and £4.95 for kids, the chef was very pleasant and chatty, lovely mince and dumplings for little legs and we had some large slices of beef which came with mashed potato and swede, to which you could add yorkshire puddings, peas, carrots, turnip, cabbage, stuffing, gravy and other bits and bobs, delighted with the meal (used to come here a few years back but it was nowhere near as good), its a down to earth pub in an down to earth area so if you don't expect posh nosh just good old fashioned roast beef, turkey, gammon dinner its excellent, will be going back soon.
