FYI This pub is NOT Dog Friendly. We had to leave due this. But it is a lovely pub and the menu looked good, just a shame we were unable to stay. Not sure what the issue is with well behaved Dogs but I guess the pub afford to turn people away....

We arrived at The George Hotel around 2 wanting a Sunday roast . They don’t do but recommended The Crown. I rang to book and a friendly lady took our booking for lunch at 3. A steady 15 min stroll up to the pub and greeted by a classic pub with a few novelty cars on show . On entering the pub a very friendly and polite member of staff helped us to a drink and our table. After seating the Sunday roast beef arrived , excellent service , with a smile . The dinner , I could not fault , quality beef , great HM Yorkshire’s , fantastic roasties and a great selection of vegetable . I’m not a mash guy , but theirs was sensational , creamy and delicious . This was topped off with a scrumptious beef gravy , nothing was too much trouble , the quality of service , ingredients and presentation top notch either a definite 5* tasty dinner .. 👍thanks guys , a treat 🫡 .

Very friendly and welcoming local, with a good selection of beers and wholesome food. Interesting decor in the pool room. Would happily recommend it.

Last minute booking today for sunday lunch. Absolutely lovely meal and service excellent. This pub has got a great feel about it .All the ingredients to meals are of very high quality and cooked to perfection. We will be returning very soon. Thank you

Food far beyond our expectations, well cooked and tasty, even the chips home cooked with burger, well above standard for pub food, we will be back thank you .

Staying locally so looked on Google for local places to eat and The Crown came up. Reviews looked very good so we booked a table for tonight (Friday). Although the menu is a bit limited what they offer is generous portions of well cooked, delicious food at reasonable prices. Couldn't believe the size of the fish!! 2 Local beers enjoyed, both well kept, good cellar temperatures- a good pint! If you're interested in cars or motorbikes you'll love the decor. Staff friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend 😃

Good food, hot beef brisket bun with fries and gravy, and a fish finger sandwich (6 fish fingers!) With mushy peas too. Good beer, very friendly welcoming service too.

Excellent as ever …. The Steak pie is well worth the 70 mile round trip . Oh and a lovely pint of ale to was it down . About the 5th time I’ve made the trip and never disappointed. Nice staff.

Awesome place, great people, fantastic food and staff who were friendly and helpful. I particularly like the theme of the pub from the car's outside to the BSA bike above the fire. We will definitely return as this place is a hidden gem!.

Wanted a nice pint and food in a cozy pub. Got very nice real ale and excellent steak and ale pies, veg and gravy on a cold night. Everything was a level above typical pub food. Good sized portions and hardly any wait on an early Saturday evening. Deserts looked great but sadly we were too full! Staff really nice, couldn’t fault anything about it.

We had an excellent roast dinner here and came back for our last evening for dinner.

Food was absolutely stunning - I am a vegeterian and had a beautiful selection!! Do not regret any of my 3 meals - all different!!

A little gem . We are staying local for the weekend and fancied a bite to eat , found the Crown Inn and so glad we did . The food was stunning , great quality and very reasonable prices . Wife had prawn linguini and i had the surf and turf , beautifully cooked steak with king prawns and cray fish . Fantastic . A proper country pub welcome made it a great visit . Thank you so much

First trip to The Crown for one of Dave's Supercar Sundays. Great hospitality by all of the staff. Only had a couple of coffees, but will definitely be back for food and drinks...

Had an excellent lunch, friendly staff, made very welcome. Some recent changes have improved the bar/restaurant area and looks really good. Look forward to coming back. Back again in November and fabulous lunch with friends. Great food and service 👍

Popped in on Sun afternoon with wife and son. My god the food was delicious and very reasonable too. Had the roast beef bap with fries and gravy. It was phenomenal. I live in Scotland but I will return!!

Had a lovely relaxing couple of hours in here today (7/9/23) having a meal to help celebrate my partners birthday, food was fab, beer spot on and lovely attentive hosts can't recommend enough, make sure you take your own vaseline!

We were travelling through Northumberland, and searched for somewhere to have a Sunday dinner. After reading the reviews we chose here. We phoned to see if any tables available and the very helpful lady on the end said we are very busy however we could fit you in. First impressions , very typical lovely village pub, warm welcome, great ales and beers available, good menu and specials. We both had the roast beef dinners, and all I’m going to say…..amazing… the beef was melt in the mouth, gravy full of flavour, nice portion of veggies, and big crispy Yorkie …. One of the best Sunday dinners I’ve had….10 out of 10. Definitely will be back when in the area next….great to find a good British pub doing a fantastic job,and a big thank for squeezing us in last minute 👍👍

I had dinner here on a Saturday night during my walk along Hadrian’s wall. i was staying up the road at the George Hotel and this pub was recommended as a great dinner venue. The service and food were both excellent, the pub has a great atmosphere and the meals are well priced, I would recommend the Sausages and Mash and a pint of Guinness as a good way to finish a day of hiking, I look forward to returning

Wonderful, well cooked food. Really enjoyed the steak and ale pie. Husband had sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce …which he said was amazing. Highly recommend and very reasonably priced.

Delicious food served , sesame chicken and fish and chips so tasty , great efficient and friendly service , can highly recommend.

We went with friends, three of us had lamb and one Turkey. The meat was beautifully tender and the accompanying veg, yorkshire pudding and gravy all very tasty. Great value at £13 per head. Staff and service was great as was the owner who was happy to stand and chat to us. Will definitely be back

Decent food with a nice beer garden, but no dogs allowed inside which isn’t mentioned on the website. Fortunately only a little chilly and not rainy, but we’d have gone elsewhere if we’d known in advance.

Sunday roast dinner is sensational!!!! Loved every mouthful. Couldnt resist the desserts. Staff are lovely. Live music so decided to stay, leave the car and walk back to the hotel.

Lovely village pub and a friendly lady served us. We had brisket beef sandwiches with onion gravy and fries, wow! The beef was tender and perfectly cooked, four thick, tasty slices in each bun, it was absolutely delicious. So many fries we couldn't eat them all! Not a huge menu but a very good one, with varied dishes. We'll definitely return soon.

Enjoyed two evening meals here, Tuesday and Wednesday. Both were excellent, sesame chicken and madras chicken curry. Both brilliant value and massive portions. Staff throughout were excellent. Cracking pub well worth a visit even if 30+ miles from home. Idyllic.

Popped in on the off chance as we were staying in Wall. Glad we can early because most of the tables were already booked. Food was great. We had fish cakes and the veggie salad and chips. All well cooked and tasty. Best of all there was a bus just outside to take us back to our Airb&b in Wall. Great after some good beer, a big meal and long walk.

Great value for excellent food and beer

Quaint little pub, landlord is for sure a car fanatic as there is an awesome display of Ferrari toy cars and a vespa themed table. Food looked great (didn't eat) and choice of drinks was good.

Food was great, so was the atmosphere... fish and chips, steak and ale pie. Both were excellent. Selection of beers and cask ales was plentiful.. we sampled 3, all great, wish I could remember their names. Service was prompt and very friendly.

Booked in here for an evening meal whilst on holiday in the area and we were not disappointed. My wife and I both had the steak and ale pie which was absolutely delicious. The syrup sponge I had for sweet was also delicious. As well...

Second time here for a meal, ordered the fish and chips. Homemade skin on chips and a mahoosive fish! Worth the money.

Was recommended this place instead of eating at our hotel. So glad we did - quirky it certainly is - but make no mistake, it's a proper pub. We got a warm welcome, great service, great beer and good (and great value) food. Bus stop...

Fantastic country pub, doing lots of motoring events.

Great atmosphere. Owned by a true petrol head. Quirky display of iconic micro cars outside. Check out the "Volkswagen" grill and "Mini" sofa in the immaculate beer garden. Loads of interesting vehicles on display most Sundays. Well worth a visit.

Somehow can’t take the time to edit the information that they’re NOT dog friendly anymore, throughly enjoyed pulling up after a long drive from the other side of Newcastle to find that out. Food did smell delightful though.

Went to have lunch at this pub today, I knew we might struggle to get in with it being Easter Sunday but struck lucky as got a table, it's a nice traditional homely pub, we opted for the roast lamb dinner, service was quick, dinner was tasty but the amount of veggies and roasties was very disappointing for the £15, the Yorkshire was also quite flat and stodgy, and the gravy very thin, the meat was tasty but overall a bit disappointing

Ok, after a 7hr drive around looking at the wonderful sights we fell on this place, no tables all reserved so we happily sat at a table in the games room, what a decision! Gladly served us drinks moved us to a table and served the most delicious food 11/10 thank you Crown Inn

It's probably the best steak steak and ale pie I have ever had. Big chunks of quality beef in rich gravy. The pastry was nice and crispy, but not dry. The veg were fresh and crunchy

Booked in for an evening meal no stares or sweet but we thoroughly enjoyed the two meals. We had a Hunters Chicken and Scampi I had a side of rings and we well impressed.

We visited in a Saturday lunchtime during a weekend away. It had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with a good selection of beers. There's a wide choice of food, all sensibly priced, and what we had was beautifully cooked and hot 😀. We would definitely recommend the place and would like to visit regularly but we live 200 miles away.

Great country pub with a good selection of ales , the food is the best pub food in the area , we eat here once a week and it’s always freshly cooked and a normal pub price , would 100% recommend and the classic cars on show are an added bonus

Went several times when we stayed nearby. Good beer at good prices. Had food tonight...easy to book and fast reply. Food was excellent. Could not eat it all... the menu does not do the food justice! My chicken burger was full of moist chicken breast....

We visited The Crown for its Christmas Fayre menu. Excellent value for money, well cooked and plenty of it, plus some good real ales to wash it down. Well recommended.

Not a dog friendly pub after reading review on here. I walked up from the George hotel hotel with my elderly parents to he refused entry as we had a dog. Management need to look at reviews

Lovely food, best burger I’ve had in a while at a pub. Friendly and attentive staff and also very fair prices for the large portions you’re getting. Good selection of ales and beers as well so I will definitely be returning when I’m next around Hexham!

Just to clarify (as we saw on Facebook this pub was dog friendly) dogs are NOT allowed in the pub except the garden. There is a sign on the door but it’s a bit late when you arrive there. Beers okay was busy with diners
