A very refreshing well presented Sunday roast. All the staff were happy and very helpful. The food was divine and to top it all off we had a desert as well...

First visit to the Horse and Groom, Queniborough today for mothers day. Family of 8 with plenty of space and a very warm welcome. All staff were very attentive and polite, and the food was amazing. Best beef I have had in a pub for a very long time, none of that really thin precooked meat that is sometimes served in other places. Well done team, we will visit again. Thank you

Atmosphere was really good. Great welcome. Really good selection of beers at a very reasonable price. We did not eat but checked the menu and looked really good. Will try the food on our next visit .

Food available Thursday til Sunday and it’s quality. Had 2 sirloin steak meals, perfectly cooked to order. Meals are cooked in order of ordering and are well worth waiting for. Would definitely recommend.

Disappointed. The fried chicken was over cooked. 😩 I felt the staff didn't look after us, which is rare in the hospitality industry. Not what I was expecting 😔.

Nice pub, recently done out with nice comfy seats. Staff where nice but unfortunately, no draught bitter available when we visited

We visited for Sunday lunch with family at short notice, they were really helpful and managed to fit us in. The 3 course Sunday lunch was delicious, really good quality home cooked food, crispy roasties, cauliflower cheese and Yorkshire puddings, huge portions with as much gravy as you like. Really recommend this lovely country pub that has a relaxed atmosphere with very helpful and friendly staff. We will be back!

I booked Sunday lunch for 3 people rather late. 2 being vegetarian and 1 of the 2 being gluten free as well. The chef went so out of his way to make sure we were all catered for and happy. Thank you very much.

Hosted me and my family for a party in the bowling alley at the back. Was such good fun and they were really good to us all night. The food was great too and such good value. Awesome pub!

Nice situation in a nice village..Had a really nice meal on a very stormy Sunday..The staff were excellent and attentive especially the hostess who was continually moving around and also recommended to us some up and coming acts appearing there. We shall return..Thank you

The landlord has continued to offer high quality food with a choice of ideas which he welcomes feedback from the customers. Nothing appears to be too much trouble and the presentation and staff attitude is to be admired. Thoroughly recommend to give it a try.

Enjoyed a nice pub lunch in very pleasant surroundings. Full of old charm and character. We were made very welcome and will be back.

Great landlord good food and beeer

Disappointed - been there numerous times in the past and always had a lovely meal, with plenty of extra food available and a wide choice of desserts. However, today, the beef was too hard and chewy for one member of our party to eat, the roast potatoes were overcooked and most of the desserts were gone! Oh, and they had also run out of mint sauce!! Shan't be returning in a hurry!

The meal was lovely but not very child friendly only 1 high chair no child menu so had to order an adult meal for a 1 year old also no childrens cutlery My suggestion would be to offer things of main menu but as a child portion and half the price and also Have more high chairs and childrens cutlery

I was taking my friends back to the station, one of whom was flying back to New York. This was her last meal in the UK and she wanted fish and chips - it was delicious and she was delighted. All of our meals were perfect and Cat couldn’t have been more charming and helpful. Thank you so much.

Average choice if beers. No alcohol free cider only Becks. But, free pool,friendly staff and other customers. Will call again when passing.

They were unable to cater for our Gluten Free and Dairy Free requirements. Edit to reply to owner: This is not exactly what we were told on the night. Our member of staff took 4 trips back and forth to the kitchen and still left us all not confident in her response. Using the phrases 'I think' is not acceptable when dealing with allergen advice. Poor allergen advice can kill and hence those affected do not take the risks when they have poor confidence in the staff. If we were to attend most other restaurants/pubs, we would be handed out an allergen advice sheet - this was not available at your establishment. Following your reply about the vegan Quorn sausages, I stand corrected and will let him know, but this is just what was fedback to me from him. I am heavily disappointed with the tone of your replies, something I would not expect from a professional page, however I will not let that jade my review. I can guarantee that following our visit we were not satisfied with the allergen advice given. In your other replies you say a poor review looks bad on me, but considering this review was our honest experience and appears to be a lack of confidence/communication by the serving staff as opposed to a kitchen problem, combined with your rude response, I feel this looks more bad on you.

Good beer food is standard pub fare but I have only eaten there once. The atmosphere is a welcoming cosy villsge local.

Food was terrible. had a burger which was like a Maccies burger dry and tasted like it had been there a few weeks will not go back waste of time and very expensive for what you get

We come here at least once a week. We really enjoy the food and the staff are very very friendly and helpful. We have had a couple of long alley skittles parties with our family - which the children really enjoy and the pub also has a children's play area. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit!!!!

First visit to The Horse and Groom and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Very friendly service and great food. The homemade options and genuinely homemade - the Bakewell tart was outstanding!! 👍

came here on Sunday for the first time with family, as it was the end of my sister in law's hen weekend and also my mum's and my brother's birthdays they were very busy and so food took a bit longer than we expected to come out, but the couple running the place were great - the blonde lady that took our orders was lovely with my elderly grandma (my grandma thought you were lovely) and the food was so nice (and huge, i love my Sunday roasts and could eat them til the cows come home, but it even beat me!) def great value for money, great little place and will be back :-)

Perfect meal with 2 for eight pounds

Me and my wife and sometimes extended family, visit this area often. Having tried many of the surrounding pubs, this is one of our favourites! We came in one Friday evening recently and noticed they had a new chef. After trying the menu before we were excited to see what else they could do! The young gentleman who served us was very kind, friendly and funny, kept us all entertained! The young girl on the bar said they were very busy and might be a wait, we didn't mind! I tried one of their new burgers, it was gorgeous! So much taste, plus hand made! My wife had the lasagne, home-made and she wanted second portion. My mother had the faggots which she enjoyed, and knew she would like (She uses the same local butchers) And my father had the fish which came out the size of a small ocean mammal! Hand battered, lovely. Highly recommend to anyone.

Had perfect food today on the lunchtime menu. Two for £7.95. No better value anywhere. Great food, great staff, great price!

Popped in with my wife for a quick bite to eat, chose from the 2 for £7.99 menu which was great value, I had faggots and my wife had Lasagne, which was promptly served by very friendly staff, nice setting and the open fire give a good ambience, will definitely go again

Wonderful friendly staff who let us in early. My friends and I thought the pub opened at 11am for coffee. We had our babies with us and had just been swimming so wanted a quick coffee. Despite not quite being ready for customers, the staff welcomed us in. We will definitely come again during opening times. Many Thanks x

Myself & partner have visited the Horse & Groom regularly in the past 18 months , it’s a lovely pub right in the heart of the beautiful village of Queniborough.The pub has roaring log burners , delicious food & the landlord Simon always welcomes us like old friends,, the two Dogs are adorable too , lovely place

Back again for a meal on a Wednesday night with my wifeAs on previous visits the staff were extremely polite and friendly.The food was the best we have tasted for a long time and a very reasonable price.Will make this a regular venue and suggest that the public try it for themselves.

The dining room is seperate from the bar and there's usually a log fire burning on chillier evenings. In the summer months we have often eaten in the garden which has lovely patio furniture. The food is really delicious..all home made and my husband is now addicted to the Garlic Mushrooms and Lasagne...not to mention the Sunday Lunch which has the best crispy roast potatoes EVER ! The bar is dog friendly and a great place to call in for a drink before heading home after a walk.

The staff are friendly. They chat and can’t do more to help you! The gentleman who served us offered many options and was more than happy to cater to our needs. He spoke to our son (he’s five years old) and he is a fussy eater but because of his friendly and playful manner our son really enjoyed it and trusted the waiters recommendation. They also both loved Harry Potter so that made our little lad feel much more at home. The food was beautiful! Hot plates, fresh hand cooked food, a slight wait was mentioned when we entered (we hadn’t booked and the restaurant was busy) but we didn’t mind and it was worth it! Couldn’t fault the food or the service. Lovely open fire and friendly staff. Only criticism was the gentleman who was working, seemed a bit over stretched doing drinks, food and payments on his own in a busy restaurant. However he handled it extremely well, never stopped smiling and kept all the customer happy. The chef came out and spoke to us whilst we were eating and was equally friendly. A great team that clearly respect and get on well together. Highly recommend and will return in the new year! |

This place has changed landlords since the last time I came, the food was lovely, good value and really well cooked. All the staff were really friendly and it is very cosy. Not an extensive menu but local butchers used. definetly go again.

A group of 16 of us booked ourselves in for skittles evening with food. It was a great success. The pub was very helpful with the planning for the evening and even went to the trouble of putting on extra choices for those wanting vegetarian options. The pub is appealing to those who like a well maintained traditional pub atmosphere. The welcome was warm, the beer excellent and the food nicely cooked. £8-£12 covers most of the menu options. As you may gather from the above, we were impressed and plan to repeat the experience shortly. The Horse and Groom provided excellent value for money.

Just been this evening... after not being able to park in syston we went on a detour.. not disappointed... the staff were helpful and friendly. Even the chef who bought the food out was attentive and wanted to make sure the steak was cooked ok... I ordered rare and was cooked perfectly... the only downside for us was for the gin and tonic it was britvic and much prefer fever tree. Will def return again

Visited The Horse and Groom on Tuesday at lunchtime. A great village pub, small menu of excellent food, well cooked, served hot and is great value for money. What gives this venue the wow factor is the staff, they really can't do enough for you, nothing is to much trouble.Look forward to eating with you again soon guys.

Called in for Happy Hour drinks, but stayed on for food as well. Some of us had the Faggots mash and mushy peas specials meal, some had scampi and chips, some had chicken pie and mash. About £8-£9 each and excellent. Would definitely eat there again.
