A pub that doesn’t allow dogs :( please have a dog friendly area!

We took our daughter and her friends for dinner on her birthday and we enjoyed the food, loved the atmosphere. The place is not far from Loughborough university (8-10 minutes drive) and the town centre.

A lovely olde-style restaurant at the crossroads of Nanpantan. Bigger than you think, with plenty of parking. A little pricey, but as expected for this type of place.

Honestly such a nice pub with such epic food

Came today for a birthday lunch for my mum and all I can say is WOW. Really cute building inside and out, perfect atmosphere and the staff were so attentive and polite. Excellent service, the food was good value for money and delicious, would absolutely come back.

If you google dog friendly restaurants near Loughborough this place comes up. So this was booked for a Mother’s Day meal. When booking I also detailed I’d be bringing a dog. On the day we were told they weren’t dog friendly. No effort to contact prior to the booking. Mother’s Day ruined. Sort out your SEO and make the effort to alert people if there’s a foreseeable problem.

Staff were rude. Went in for some food went to get a menu from the bar for a staff member to shout over no walk-ins for food. Which was fine but manners wouldn't of gone a miss

Service can be good but can be soooo slow. Gave up on dessert on one occasion as we ran out of time...and patience. Facilities good and plenty of parking

Food was all good. Service a bit slow, but when you order a rump steak and are charged £3 extra for mushrooms I expected more than 1 the size of a two pound coin! A shame because the steak was perfect.

Food was lovely, waitresses are very friendly and polite service was very quick , only issue that really disappointed us was that we were sat near the kitchen doors and all we could here was sexist jokes towards there waitress staff which was very disappointing and gross to hear and certainly not fair on your waitress staff if they get this sort of behaviour behind the scenes it definitely needs to stop. But other than that issue I don't have a bad thing to say absolutely lovely place to have food and drinks.

We visited recently for a Sunday roast, I ordered the trio of meat but there was no beef so I had double pork and chicken instead. The pork was super fatty, almost inedible. My partner had the Lamb shank which was meant to come with mash potato and gravy. When it arrived it was smothered in a bright orange sauce which tasted like pasta sauce, it also had the trimmings from the Sunday dinner and no mash potato/gravy as advertised. When we mentioned it the waiter said that’s how it comes (definitely doesn’t as we’ve been before and ordered it) and because she didn’t like the sauce he gave her a pot of gravy to pour over the top of it. Needless to say she didn’t eat it and went away hungry which was very disappointing. We usually come to the priory for breakfast and we came yesterday for a fry up. Every time we’ve come the fried eggs have been snotty so we always switch them out for scrambled or poached. Yesterday I had poached which was fine, but my partner had scrambled and it was swimming on the plate. Quality of food has definitely gone downhill and I don’t think we will be returning for a while now.

Was actually going to attend an interview for a sous chef position, but after I ate there I withdrew my application. Service was great, but a vegetarian breakfast… black Avocado…? Why was that even put on my plate… Sweet chilli sauce… for breakfast….gross Core not taken out of the tomato…. Really poor effort…. You want people to eat in your restaurant… you need to teach your chefs the basics ….. very sad…

Food is amazing and great service.

Went here at the beginning of Jan 2024 with a friend. We stayed for a while and ate food from the small plates menu. Food was excellent and really tasty. Service was great and prompt. Atmosphere was lovely with plenty of places to sit and you could have a chat as it was not too loud. Will visit again

One of the worst restaurant experiences, after an hour and a half, we still hadn't had the main course, so we left. We won't be back.

Well cooked food and a reasonable range of beers even if my favourite (neck oil) was missing on this occasion.

Would like to rate at 0 stars. Waited 1hour 40minutes but neither food nor apology had arrived, so we left.

Wanted to go for a pub lunch & googled which confirmed it was dog friendly! On entering this pub we were informed abruptly by a Rude bar staff who said “WE DONT ALLOW DOGS INSIDE” I tried to say we’d googled this pub & it stated dog friendly but this bar staff again blurted out “we don’t allow dogs inside”. Shocking customer service, won’t be back!!

We have been to the priory several times. This year we decided to take 17 members of the family for Christmas dinner. The staff were excellent. The food was super, and everyone had a fantastic time. We will be back!

I had a wonderful time here. I started off with fish and chips which was absolutely amazing. Could clearly tell it was fresh and the batter was crispy but not oily. The chips were also fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Best fish and chips I have had in a long time! I then had the apple and cinnamon crumble which was so nice. The custard that came with it as well was lovely and warm and was amazing with the crumble. Was such a warm and cosy meal. The service is top notch too! Staff are lovely and food comes out fairly quick. Would definitely come back here again!

Warm area and comfortable . Food was very good and plentiful . Staff were helpful.

Average pub grub, unfortunately they weren't even capable of swapping from one kind of mayo in a burger to a different one offered on a different burger. Kids meals are expensive for what you get. Drinks are expensive. Main courses seem fairly standard prices for these days - on the expensive side at £16 for a burger. It was busy for a Thursday night with a big party in, so nice atmosphere.

The quality and taste of the food was exceptional (Sunday roast dinner). Unfortunately, the food was only just warm and the roast potatoes were very pale and soft.

Nice place food was the worst I’ve ever eaten wouldn’t recommend for food couldn’t even get a burger right sent it back cold and not cooked through however the waitress was very good and rectified the problem however they did bring another one it was ok but very dry no cheese very limited salad boring never again sorry

Great meal here few weeks ago, the lamb I had was amazing and the choice of food was really good and all seemed good quality and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly too would go again

Food is nice BUT... The staff were not attentive at all. Three breakfasts came out but forth one was an unacceptable wait, about 10 minutes, so cancelled it. Other 3 people had finished before I even got my breakfast. A side order was also not brought out with mains. A member of the bar staff sat on a laptop whilst people were standing at the bar after just coming in. Not a good way to deal with customers. We won't be returning, unfortunately.

Beautiful building but the food is disgraceful. Lack taste and presentation. Would not recommend if you looking to go out for a nice meal.

Thank you so much to the Priory, they rescued my special birthday meal. The Priory team squeezed us in at very late notice for Sunday lunch after being let down by another establishment. The food was top notch - the Sunday roasts and desserts were excellent. The service was fabulous. I really cannot compliment the team enough - highly recommend.

Excellent menu, lots of choice, at a good price. Nine in our party but all the food came out together and was hot. Good choice of drinks. Nice room/atmosphere. Excellent service, nothing too much trouble. Would highly recommend

Worst Lamb Shank Ever!!! I don’t normally write reviews… but this is called for. The Shank was so tough and hard that I couldn’t cut through it… what happened to meat melting off the bone shanks? The other Shank orders, had more cut-able portions

I really like this place but to my surprise it was packed on Wednesday evening. I mean I guess everyone likes the place, I just didn't expect it to be this busy. Lovely staff, nicely decorated place and very lively on Wednesdays apparently 😁

I found a hair in my risotto. The waiter at the beginning asked how we did pay and if I wanted something else. We could probably get a refund for that. But when he came back to the table, that was outside in the garden, he said that he couldn't do anything because it was a dog hair and the garden can host dogs but nearby there were no dogs!! However, how did he know it was a dog hair?!? Did he examine it?!? And even if it was, it is still a hair and I couldn't finish my food for that. He could give half refund or a discounted price but nothing. We left and said to each other we won't get back there for awful customer service!!

😋🥳 it's the first time I have been for a meal and it won't be the last. Excellent service ( Joseph and staff impeccable service) large party, top quality and excellent food which all enjoyed, i had the salad with salmon and sweet chilli sauce ( you could tell ALL the ingredients were freshly made) . Also the ambiance was wonderful. Thanks for a lovely evening ✨✨👌

Went with a large group of friends, preordered our food so everything arrived hot and together. Food was really tasty, we all ordered off the early set menu and portion size was ok but desserts were tiny, cream brulee was a tiny pot of cream brûlée with three large shortbread biscuits. Only down side was the ridiculously high price of drinks. One wine, two gins … £28! Also a shot of samba a was £14.10, a litre in tescos is only £25!

Very disappointed with our visit, it was very busy and you couldn't hold a conversation due to the noise from the bar, I had a rump steak and all it came with were chips and some rocket leaves. Not even a tomato or mushroom, onion rings were on offer but we're a side charged at £3:00. The steak was cooked well as we're the chips but for nearly £23 not good value. We won't be rushing back.

The Priory is a lovely building and it's been decorated nicely, although there seemed to be some sort of issue with the lights as they seemed to dim and brighten randomly in the restaurant. Ordered a burger with cheese and bacon (an extra £1 for each item), it was served with coleslaw and fries. When it arrived, there was lots of space on the plate as if something was missing (but there wasn't). A small cup of fries and the burger wasn't huge either. Also order chocolate Brownie with ice cream for desert. £7.95 and the scoop of ìce cream was bigger than the brownie! It was nice, but for the price I was disappointed with the portion sizes... it's not sold as fine dining! Won't be rushing back anytime soon.

We've eaten at the Priory a few times either at lunch or evening times and always received good service and excellent food. Today we thought we'd try the breakfast and both ordered the fry up. We were both presented with over cooked eggs, small potions which included half a tomato and half a mushroom. For the price of £11.95 plus a coffee totalling over £31.00 for the both us i had expected more and left very disappointed.

Average tasting over-priced food with long wait times, some items like pies not made fresh but out of packets and presentation is poor. Atmosphere and cleanliness is excellent.

Very slow service, I was sat with my daughter for 25 mins before I had to get up and ask one of the waiters to take our order as we felt we were being ignored! The waitress came over and apologised for the miscommunication between staff. Food is good, comes out piping hot. I've been here a few times and the service has been very slow no matter what time of day or day you come.

Lovely service, Good ambiance but food left a lot to be desired. We ordered 3 roasts which where bland and not seasoned. They also lacked gravy and the stuffing was dry and hard. The carrots where undercooked and the Yorkshire puddings where burnt. Definitely not worth the price we payed and wasn’t to the standard we expected. Quite disappointed.

Sunday lunch with family to remember our Mum / Grandma. Very easy to report.........everything was very good / excellent 👏 👌 👍. Various roast dinners, pie, steak and fish & chips. All cooked well, all delicious and decent portions too. Service very good and didn't have to wait too long despite being prime time on Sunday afternoon with a busy restaurant. My Big Bro has been before and says the standard is always good. Highly recommended 😁👍

Best steak I've had for years. Service was excellent too . They were very accomodating for me as I'm on a keto diet and offered suitable alternatives. My friend all loved it and have also vowed to go back.

Food was incredible and staff were amazing!

While staying with friends we had our Sunday roast at The Priory, we were greeted with a warm friendly smile from a member of the staff, had the topside of beef, everything was cooked perfect, my only complaint would be the portion of cauliflower cheese was the size of a desert spoon.

Whilst the full English breakfast looked good as it arrived it turned out to be a bit of a let down..with 2 pieces burnt bacon and 2 hard fried eggs. And it wasn't cheap either at almost £50 for two of us! It's a good venue with nice atmosphere, plenty of parking too.

Unfortunately I have to agree with your last reviewer. Very slow service and the risotto was very poor, like instant food, very salty,cespecially the beetroot which were inedible.

Walked into an empty pub to be greeted by a rude young lady who insisted we stand and wait whilst she check if she had a table available after I said we were happy to eat in the bar area! I ordered mushroom risotto which was absolutely awful. Swimming in oil, tasteless just the worst! I took it up to the bar and explained I couldn't eat it. The response I got was 'oh' nobody commented or apologised. Soooo rude.

A lovely restaurant, beautifully decorated. Food was well presented and delicious. We are a group of 10 and food was served promptly, although we did order in advance.

Had almost a 50 minute wait for food but it was worth it. Every dish delicious. Three adults two kids. Risotto delicious. Pork belly scrumptious. Fish and chips tasty. Will definitely be returning.

The beer is poor quality, Major brands, from national brewers and not kept well. Web site says local ales but they are not. I don't belive this is independent as it looks like it's a big brewer list. Abbot ale, was second in the 2023 champion beer of Britain but really undrinkable as it was either old or dirty lines. Food was OK, service and staff were very very good.

They have had the same menu for ages now and meanwhile the quality of the food has been going down too. Doubt we will be visiting again, it's time to find somewhere else to meet our friends.

It’s an amazing place. We have only been there for breakfast so far but every time we have been in it’s been amazing. The staff and the food are both great. We have had excellent service, the staff are really friendly and the food speaks for itself. We will definitely be back for breakfast and will try the lunch and dinner menu out. Best breakfast in the area.

A short walk from home from so always great to see it busy. Good choice of food, lively bar and very friendly staff. Would really like to see a revamp of the menu - been through it several times now! Will always be back!

We visited as a family group of 11 in the evening after a Graduation at Loughborough University. The table was pre booked and as a result we had to pre order our meals. The welcome was pleasant and shortly after being seated we offered drinks that were delivered promptly. The starters were served, I had ordered crab cakes. The outside was pleasant enough but lacked any seasoning, then I discovered that the chef had decided to add sweet corn in the centre that was totally disgusting! We then had a long, long wait for the main course. When they arrived the waitress was holding the plates with a towel but the plates were only aired. My burger was okay but was only just warm. Another one of our party was served completely the wrong meal and had to wait for a replacement. We again had a long wait for deserts I had chosen Sticky Toffee pudding, again the desert was no warmer than aired. As I said earlier we had pre ordered the food but one of our party had to reorder as they had run out of Biscoff? Not good!

Fantastic pub and restaurant, Kevin our waiter was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, the decor just lovely and the atmosphere was great. Hope to go back again.

Drinks menu is on the spot, food was brilliant, classy, well cooked, large menu with meat, fish, veggie, and vegan, gf and dairy intolerance selections too! Highly reccomened, it's a gorgeous place!
