Very bad service fish and chips really over done onion rings dripping in fat everything cooked in old oil won't be returning

This place is recently under new ownership. We really enjoyed it. Looks great inside. So cozy and pretty. Food was great. Service was great.

The hills have eyes. Greeted by some hillbillys at the bar. You could see the girls knickers who was pulling pints and it wasn't a pretty sight. No lights on out the back. Won't go back here, looks like somewhere my ex wife would fit in.

The best Sunday roast I've ever had!

Just a bit trampy, as to be expected from a city centre wetherspoons, a bit smelly, sticky tables, sticky floor, 1 tooth bill sat on the next table shouting at the TV. Decent danger pint 👌

Menu very poor. No fish when sat down to order. No boiled potato’s on meal ordered. Overall very very poor. Price not cheap with food that is on offer

We had a brilliant night on Saturday in the Victoria for my sister in laws 40th birthday party..The Vic had done us a buffet, and it was fantastic...Top quality food...Staff were great..Thankyou

Stopped off here for a quick drink and to watch the cyclist for IronMan going past with a group of friends. As we were waiting at the bar to be served the food coming out of the kitchen smelt great so we asked the girls on the bar for a quick look at the menu. The staff were brilliant, we asked them if they could stick the F1 on for us and they did straight away. We were indecisive as to whether to order food or not but one of the girls talked us round, we had a laugh and a bit of banter with her. The food arrived promptly & was homely, freshly cooked & tasty pub grub, all for a reasonable price. Highly recommend the Sunday Lunch & the Cheese & Onion Pie. Looking forward to our next visit already.

Terrible! What a shame that Google Reviews is not up to date. The current owners are apparently leaving and it shows. Poor service all round, in what once would have been a lovely hotel. As of today I have revised my review downwards. The attempt to make it look like they cared by the response from owner has backfired because no attempt has been made to contact me. Not only have they got a rubbish review from me, but their couldn't care less attitude says it all...

Called in after a walk , just for a drink, 3 pints and a small coke £17 odd , won’t be calling for drinks again , that’s roughly £5 a pint & £2 for a small coke NO THANK YOU NEVER AGAIN

The food was lovely. We had carrot and coriander soup, red pepper humous and pitta bread for starters. Steak and ale pie that was so full of meat the fork stood up in it, chips and veg. Halloumi skewers that were massive, skin on fries and red cabbage slaw. The staff are brilliant.

I arrived at The Victoria to deliver the letters 'LOVE' for a wedding reception later that evening. The staff were welcoming, organised and supportive. It appears to be a well looked after, traditional British pub in an ideal placement that you can't miss. - Letters4u

We’ve had a few takeaways in the past and all been great. But last Tuesday we visited to celebrate my mums life. I cannot express how great full I am. It was short notice and the buffet was fantastic. All who gathered loved the food. The staff we’re fantastic. Thank you all. I’ll be in for a meal instead of a takeout!

As regular customers of The Victoria (both in the restaurant and takeaway), we know how lovely the food and service is so it was a bit of a no brainer when deciding where to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. The staff were so wonderful to us, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was welcoming. Thank you for yet another lovely meal and for making us feel spoilt on our anniversary!

Having recently moved into the area we were looking forward to finding a regular local pub meal venue. We booked a Sunday lunch. After ordering 4 main meals it was an hour before we were served the food with no comment on or apology for the delay. As we had an 11 month old baby with us, the delay was particularly frustrating. Food was OK but the service was terrible and we definitely won’t be returning!

We stayed in one of the rooms upstairs. Nice bedrooms, better than expected! Beds were really comfy. Bathrooms seem a little unfinished/in need of some touch ups. Food excellent, great service.

OMG! We order and eat at The Vic a lot. Absolutely amazing food. I only have one teeny weeny criticism and it may be me and no-one else. I don’t like unpeeled carrots. I don’t like the grit when you eat them. Apart from that, bloomin’ amazing!

Lovely time in the restaurant, our servers Abby and Adam was very attentive. There was a party in the pub area but it didn't impact the services or experience at all.

This is my local. Poor quality food this evening. Not good for the price tag. Had better from the Victoria on previous visits. Top it off. Had a verbal foul-mouthed gent was allowed to continue whilst having our meal. I ask him and his 5 mature pals to calm it. Not a good idea. Anyway after a near death experience. And spending £60.00 not a pleasant evening. Very disapointed that there wasn't any mature staff around to deal with this matter. Bad night all round.

Took my elderly relative here today for lunch. I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed the fish & chips and apple 🍎 crumble. It was honestly the best ever. The lady who served us looked after us so well without rushing us. Thanks so much for making our afternoon out very enjoyable.

Just had a beautiful meal at The Vic at Walshaw My hubby had crumpet, black pudding, with goats cheese and apple which was one of the specials and was Devine. I had the scallops which were impressive. Followed by steak and I had the mushroom Wellington finished off with the crumble and custard . The staff were great and the whole atmosphere was lovely If you’re looking for great food that’s inexpensive, give it a go, you won’t be disappointed

Christmas lunch - understaffed and disorganized due to the owner/manager not present and not informing staff of bookings. Food ok but bland. Not keen to go there again.

Friendly staff who were helpful and accomodating of our family group who stayed. Rooms large and clean, although ensuite facilities in some rooms our party used are in need of a makeover. Climbing in and out of the bath to use the shower is not so easy. Attention to small details when finishing the rooms would make it brilliant and worthy of more stars. The restaurant was busy and food very tasty.

Enjoyed a meal and a glass of wine after checking out the deals in the outlet shops. Great place for families too.

First visit here. Really nice staff. Food was very nice too. Good portion size couldn't quite finish main meal after having a starter too. Parking round the back too so no reason not to pop in if just passing, give them a try.

Had a lovely lunch, cheese and onion pie, a large choice of meals and gorgeous desserts . Very friendly and the service was great.

We've had a couple action items from The Victoria over the previous months during lockdown. Each time the nature of the food and the assistance has been splendid. Extraordinary to see some assortment in the menu, I sincerely suggest the Rag Pudding and the Tandoori kebab 👌 additionally the children menu is incredible and excellent quality food as well 👍

What a find this place is, friendly staff, good food at reasonable prices, good choice of beers, excellent room rates. However what should have been a easy 5 star rating was let down with the cleanliness of the bathroom, it hadn't been cleaned in many a day, cobwebs in corners, sequins dotted around on the floor, dust on cupboard handles and a few tiny holes in the curtains which was a real shame. Having said the above it's still woth a visit and stay.

Very pleasant visit, Tuesday quiz night, that was free, prizes and some eateries afterwards. I've commented before about real ale availability, but it's local requests that drive the availability, there's not that demand from the young clientele. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Was okay the food but not out of this world, messed my order up by serving me chili sauce and not cranberry sauce with my starter which I hate anything hot. Gamon and egg for my main and the egg could have been cooked in fresh oil as it tasted like the oil had been repeatedly used which wasn't to pleasant. The service staff are lovely though and was very approachable. The outdoor area is spacious and has cover which we went and sat in after our meal. Nice atmosphere here just the small things with the food which let it down.

Nice pub, good assortment of beers and food, but rather on the expensive side.

Terrible food no where near as good as somewhere like Toby carvery would not recomenend wasting £15 on a Sunday dinner here. This was the second time I'd been after having a curry and being disappointed by the bland and simple garam massala flavour. Don't eat food here.

Love this place had my 50th Birthday celebrations here. Very well looked after on both times I celebrated with family and then the girls night out. 🥰 Love catching up with friends here and the good is amazing.Staff are lovely and friendly. Owen is lovely. The Vic is a credit to Walshaw Village . 👍

The food and atmosphere were lovely, although the menus and specials boards were a little confusing as they were conflicting. The service was brilliant though, thank you :)

Me and my my friends came in on Sunday and decided to try out the new cocktails that The Victoria had on offer. They all tasted delicious and my personal favourite had to be the Pornstar Martnini. We will definitely be back for more soon!

We have visited The Victoria a few times. The food is excellent, compliments to the chef and buying good produce. The service is brilliant. All staff are very polite, well-mannered and friendly. A very comfortable and welcoming country restaurant and bar. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

We have missed this place, it was so nice to be back inside dining. The Victoria chicken was well worth the wait. Excited about and amount of new deserts on the menu and now the added bonus of cocktails. Look forward to visiting next with my parents next week. Well done to Adam and team for too service. You certainly didn’t disappoint.

Hi There, Havnt been to this pub/restaurant for quite a while as u can imagine, because of the Virus situation, and unfortunately they were forced to close because of the gov guidelines, my Partner and I Decided to go out for a Pub Lunch, and also because this restaurant isn't far from where we live, I foned first to ask if we needed to book a table and was assured that we could just turn up and be found a table.When we arrived, we asked if we could eat outside & this was OK, as there were plenty of tables available, we ordered drinks & then looked at the Menu, in the End we both decided to have the Small Batterd Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas, and this was Excellent, very Filling and nicely cooked, afterwards we had a Pudding each, I had the Jam Rolly polly with Custard, and my Partner had the Chocolate Fudge Cake with Cream, again Excellent, The staff are very polite, and helpful, and also very covid safe !!!!!!!!Would definitely recommend this establishment for a meal out, or even just for drinks, well Done everyone !!!!!

Great to be back after all these restrictions. We have dined outside after the 12th April but it's so good to get back inside in the comfort of the restaurant. Food was just as before - freshly cooked and fresh veg and hot. Oh - and very very tasty. Of course I had the Victoria Chicken again (boring) but it's so good. Eileen had the steak pie and was equally as enthused. Keep up the good work team. Also congratulations for all you did to help the community during these troubled times. Top marks to you all.

This restaurant always takes things to the next level. Desserts is amazing, beside the food the commitment to the local community is inspiration.
