Awful place. Owners are union-busters. Don't give them any of your money. Went there for a drink which was a waaaay over-priced bloody mary. It was made very quickly despite there being only one person working the absolutely packed bar. After that there was a work-stoppage where the staff informed me that they were trying and failing to improve working conditions for them. They were understaffed and were seriously struggling. They were all very kind and apologetic about not being able to serve me. And then I hear a few weeks later that these workers were fired! And more people were being fired for supporting them. I had flatbread filled with crispy tofu and ginger slaw. The textures were there but it was pretty weak tasting. The slaw needs a much bigger kick of ginger and they could have spared a few more bits of tofu. The flatbread, which I think was homemade, was beautiful but the ratio of flatbread to filling was disappointing. The mushrooms with the kimchi dip were very good.

Après avoir fait un tour à l'étage, plutôt typé bar (mais on peut y manger également), nous sommes allé à l'étage du dessous qui lui est plutôt axé restaurant. Les plats étaient délicieux, le service agréable et les prix très corrects. L'ambiance est conviviale et le lieu atypique.

Fantastic good. Tasty, fresh and diverse menu. Great to have plant based that's not just junk food. The staff are so lovely, welcoming and friendly. It's my second time here and I think I'm going to be a regular.

Lovely staff and gluten free beer

My friend and I went to the cafe for post theatre lunch, food really good, hand made pizza, salad and hand cut chips, delicious. Above all server was delightful, a young Irish lady, really friendly and willing to take time to chat and communicate. We just wanted to give her a shout out because she is so pleasant. Thank you! 💟

I only had a camomile tea because I was in a bit of a rush visiting the city. I loved the place and the relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and good smells coming from the kitchen. Very inspiring place 🥰

Ageism/hearing problem discrimination sadly. DJ would not turn his WOnDERFul music down for my friends and l, all over 50. Was in the Duck last night and hearing each other was not an issue; other pubs in Glasgow... not an issue. He explained to me that downstairs was quieter and gave me an explanation of the venue's layout. Thanks mate, been coming here for 20yrs.. possibly not for much longer however... just wanted to hear my pals and it's not a night club.

Quite possibly the most chilled bar/cafe/restaurant in Glasgow? With out a doubt my favourite but then again I am a pretentious wannabe. Love it.

Amazing place - easily one of the best meals I've had ever! The mushroom soup and tofu wrap were to die for :) our waitress, Sara, was lovely - very friendly and attentive!

Went for lunch today, what superb service.. Friendly and helpful from the start. Quick to take our orders and then for the food to come. Food was delicious,all vegan. My only criticism was the toilets - gender neutral is not comfortable for most women and girls. There were two separate toilet rooms, why not have one for women only and one gender neutral? Apart from that, a great experience.

Really bad visit to the cca cafe today. I often pop in for a plate of soup during the week, which has always been good. Today I ordered a coffee which was extremely bitter, so I returned it. The waiter told me to, "wait and I'll 'deal' with you in a minute."! Not sure why I had to be dealt with! Replacement tea wasn't much cop either! They tried to bill me for both the tea and the coffee. Waitress almost threw my change at me and told me I was a 'time waster'. A really terrible experience. I'll not be back.

Lovely place so chilled great staff fab wine lost perfect

The food is nice, but i come here more as a bar. Great music and atmosphere with a Hipster atmosphere. There's a really good selection of drinks and it is busy without being rowdy or having a bad undercurrent. It is so close to Sauchiehall Street without having the crowds of a city centre on a saturday night. In summer, it's very pleasant to sit outside. A good place to go before a performance at the CCA, or to sit with friends and socialise.

I can’t believe the downfall of this place, when I first went in it was so good, I always took people who wanted to try out vegan food for the first time here but now my money is going elsewhere. You are genuinely made to feel bad for asking for a menu, on top of that the service is god awful, the staff are unwelcoming and unfriendly and when you do eventually get served you are made to wait at least 30-40 minutes. This is was my go to place when I needed awesome vegan food but would genuinely rather get a vegan sausage roll from greggs and eat it out on the pavement while standing in the rain than spend one more penny in this dump. This isn’t a one off experience either, it’s been happening for about 6-7 months and I’ve constantly tried to give people the benefit of the doubt. If you are doing veganuary or are curious about going vegan please don’t lump this place in with the vegan community because this isn’t it.

Stumbled upon this wee gem whilst casing the CCA for the upcoming Celtic Connections testival. Greeted on entry by a helpful and knowledgeable member of staff. Opted for a pint of Joker IPA and the main dish of Beetroot & Chard Risotto. The dish was new to me but was really tasty and extremely filling. I'll be back.

I like this place a great deal. I mostly visit for drinks, but yhe vegetarian food is excellent. The music and atmosphere are cool and pleasant. It is an oasis of calm in the busy swirl of the city centre. Great range of drinks in a full bar with good service. Cards are accepted. DJs are on pretty regularly. A gem hidden in plain sight.

Soup and sandwich followed by coffee. All good...coffee excellent. Nice relaxed ambience. Enjoyed my lunch.

For some reason I had never eaten at this place, despite living in Glasgow for a long time and visiting CCA regularly. I would commen everyone to not make this same mistake because the food here is tremendously delicious! They make their own bread and I can testify it's delicious. I have also tried the soups and they are all clearly made with really fresh ingredients and with lots of love. But the best part of it all comes last: the dessert. Once you try their brownies you will be left wanting more. Honestly the best brownie I have ever tried, and it's vegan!!! Actually everything in the menu is vegan, which is great! Also their toilets are all accessible and gender neutral, something I am always in for. I wouldn't miss this place, it's totally worth it!

It has been almost 6 months since my visit to Scotland and I can still remember my meal at Saramago... Not only one of the best meals in Glasgow but one of the best vegan meals I have ever had. Layered flavors with inventive pairings made this meal a stand out on anyone’s trip. Almost all the tables were booked in advance, not having reservations still allowed us to enjoy a meal until the next reservation for our table began. We also sat for the theater prices special. It’s priced incredibly well with huge portions that would almost be enough food for 2. The cocktails are not to be missed and they have a few local beers on tap that were highly enjoyable.

The best place to meet to discuss business or academic matters or celebrate birthday with a group of friends. Great food and the friendliest staff. My first choice to pick up to meet with friends or as a place to gather thoughts before or after important meeting. Truly relaxing and the best wifi in town. You can't beat its soup+sandwich deal. Great wines too.

Excellent vegan food in a unique atmospheric space, highly recommended!

Although not large, the establishment is definitely "hip," serving an interesting array of only vegan starters and mains. Service is excellent, music is loud but in keeping with the liveliness of the place. Central located, it is well worth a visit.

Friendly staff but on a busy lunch time only one person serving while another two had a meeting at one of the tables about halloween (!?) When they joined the other waiting person, one began to speak with her friends at another table and I went to the counter to ask for some olive oil to add a touch to the Pizza. But despite this small blip I was able to enjoy a delicious vegan artichoke pizza with olives and chillies( on the hot side some might need to be warned) and had time to get back to work. This kept me going for the rest of the day - made up for my disappointing one from the Firebird the week before !

The Saramango Cafe Bar is located inside the CCA (Centre for Contemporary Arts.) This is a vegetarian cafe with vegan options. The food is delicious. I tried the mezzo platter to share & the courgette fritters were my favourite! So good! We tried the brownie which is like a hug for your insides!

I went to Saramago Café Bar for lunch with my Auntie last week & had another delicious meal. I’ve been here numerous times since discovering it around 4 years ago & just realised I’ve never left a review! Every single time I’ve visited the food has been amazing! I think the prices are very reasonable for the quality & quantity of the food you get & the setting is open, bright and airy. This visit I had the mediterranean sandwich (olive, sundried tomato & caper tapenade with fresh tomato, basil, mixed leaves on rosemary focaccia) with a side of sweet potato chips with sriracha mayo. We then shared 2 desserts, the cheesecake (with a hazelnut & oat base, strawberry coulis & fresh berries) & the chocolate brownie (with vanilla ice cream & salted caramel sauce). The focaccia was perfectly seasoned, the wedges were chunky & moreish, the cheesecake was fresh & creamy but the brownie was the show stopper: large, gooey, rich & warm. Definitely the best brownie I’ve had in Glasgow! I love the fact that the menu is so varied as it means that I can take friends & family here who eat omni or vegetarian food but they are always surprised by the fact that the food is all plant-based. Another plus is that the staff are all friendly & attentive. The only downside are the toilets, they really need a good scrub! Everything else is wonderful and I can’t wait to go back again when I’m next in Glasgow!

We love this place! The food is fresh and delicious. The staff will work with you to accommodate your dietary tastes needs. And, they are lovely people. As whole food/plant based people, it is our number one place to eat in Glasgow. The environment is inspiring to say the least, as it is at the Center for Contemporary Arts. Love it.

I love authentic venues but this place just isn't...they seemed to have someone pretending to play fake record singles and the place as filled with vacant posers. To make things worse I thought a dessert would be nice and a cheesecake turned out to be a weird mix of a cereal base with a mushy toppong of an odd yoghurt slurpy not set rubbish...avoid the food. In fact just avoid this place, it is like Coldplay, only a cafe...

They have very good options for Vegans and people with Gluten issues as my company to the bar need something as such. Great bar and fantastic service.

Comida familiar de cumpleaños, reservamos una mesa para una noche de viernes y tan bien como estaba ocupado. Tuvimos una fuente mezze, tofu tazón y risotto y todo estaba delicioso. Servicio rápido y amable. Sin duda volveremos. Me encanta el entorno con gran techo abierto y luces de colores.

Very nice place, I'm a bit disappointed they don't let dogs downstairs but I suppose it's understandable. Excellent food, the bread was amazing.

I usually show up here around evening and this time was no different. Their sweet potato and chickpea fritters are good and so is the accompanying thimble of chutney where there should be a bowl of it. Good soup too; I had the chickpea-aubergine - most satisfying.

Went for lunch and staff gave impression that the job was beneath them. After waiting we had to request menus, eventually getting them with eye rolling. We had the so called Borch soup which was basically a watery beatroot stew accompanied with a sandwich made of one inch thick slices of bread a smattering of a filling. No going back.

Awful service. Reserved a table well in advance and watched as loads of folk were served before us who had come in after. Don't bother going for pre theatre. Like us, you probably won't get your food even if you arrived well in advance. They'll just leave you waiting.

As a visitor to Glasgow, I wouldn't have found Saramago had a friend not introduced me to it (the CCA didn't emerge through any of online 'visitor guides' I used). I take great pleasure in trying food I've never had before, so as a non-vegan, the menu offered me plenty of choice. Enjoyed my meal (cauliflower steak), the ambience, the surroundings and the beer. Staff were pleasant, helpful and patient.

We visted on our first evening in Glasgow. My partner is vegetarian and I'm a meat eater but we both thoroughly enjoyed our vegan tagine. This encouraged us to visit again. On our second visit we each had the mezze platter. It was huge with a very interesting range of dishes that we hadnt come acroos before in the main. Thet have a good range of beer and wines too. I would thoroughly recommend

The kiwi beer was amazing and the atmosphere is really nice. Very freindly bar staff who where chatty and really helpfull and knowledgeable about the beers.

We booked for 7:30 and visited during our trip to Glasgow. Staff was attentive at first but once the food arrived everyone disappeared. Food was average at best - I’m a veggie and my friend isn’t. I had the cauliflower steak which was alright but the accompanying salad was awful. She had the risotto and it was painfully bland - we agreed we’ve both made better risottos ourself. The wine also only alright. Once we got our food the staff seemed to completely disappear and we had plates sitting in front of us for probably a half hour until we were finally able to flag someone down to pay. Really disappointed in the whole experience as we have such a short time in Glasgow

Three of us booked for an evening meal. Good menu and service. The starters and main courses all arrived at the same time! I wasn’t aware it was tapas. Everything was nicely presented and very tasty.

El servicio puede ser bastante lento y te preguntas si te han olvidado. Pero porque el ambiente es genial, es fácil de perdonar. Como vegano, supongo que a veces estoy agradecido de tener comida para comer. Sin embargo deberíamos poder esperar mejor.

No pudimos sentarnos aquí. Fui a abrir la boca para explicárselo y ella gritó: No necesito que este abuso saliera del otro lado. Luego conseguimos otra mesa con. una dama La persona en la que nos sentamos no podía creer su actitud por la que mi hija se acercó le pidió que no me hablara de esa manera otra vez, sin disculpas nada después de eso, no quería comer nada, pero mi hija tenía una cita, así que necesitaba su almuerzo, la pizza. ella no era tan sabrosa como de costumbre, de hecho, dijo que no tenía sabor casi ninguna cobertura, pero un montón de base de tomate fui a Nando's más abajo y tenía un sabroso almuerzo que no volvería cuando llamé por teléfono y presenté una queja todavía esperando para una disculpa, pero después de leer algunas otras críticas, no me sorprende que pensemos que solo vamos a Glasgow cada dos meses y que estamos deseando disfrutar de una experiencia agradable, lamentablemente no

Primera visita ya que ha reabierto! La comida era estupenda, optamos por unos cuantos platos pequeños y algunas de sus patatas fritas encantadoras. Fue fantástico, el nuevo menú de invierno tiene algo para todos y los postres también son geniales. Muy buena selección de cervezas, vinos y licores. Recomendaría este lugar a cualquiera que busque comida vegana de calidad!

It’s a shame that it took almost an hour for our food. It tasted delicious and the ingredients were top-notch to be fair! Other than that, the entire place felt a bit pretentious. We did not understand half of the words on the menu. Maybe because we are uneducated plebs. Staff is colder than the Glaswegian weather.

I eat here at least once or twice a month, and I have never been disappointed. I usually go for one of their salads, and a portion of chips on the side, and maybe a pint of 3rd Eye larger!

Food only ok, nice space - terrible staff. Some of the worst service I have had. Passive aggressive waitress who interspersed our lunch with plenty of sighing, eyerolling and slamming down of plates. After slamming down a drinks menu she failed to actually return to take out coffee/tea order at then end. Won’t be back.

Fuimos a almorzar, la comida estaba bien, la camarera era más que grosero. El almuerzo fue intercalado con un montón de ojos ondulantes, ruidoso y choque de sighing platos. Después cerrándose por un menú de bebidas al final de la comida en realidad ella falló en volver para nuestro café/té no volveré.

Petit café du CCA en journée. Très bonne soupe poireau et patate servie avec pain frais maison. Ambiance relax, service rapide et convivial. Prix très raisonnable pour la qualité.

Great vegan food. My favourite in Glasgow

I'm not vegetarian but lunched with a friend. Service varied from pushy to non existent to smart and back again. I chose a salad and only realised after I left that one of the main ingredients was missing. A bit pricey for a few bits of lettuce and maybe a small carrot with a couple of slices of cucumber and 2 slices of bread. They didn't get the bill right missing out 3 items which we told them about. Our waiter seemed out of his depth even managing to smash several glasses behind the bar. When we asked another waiter about the contents of the Vietnamese soup we were told broth and noodles ! Pretty amateurish all round.

Absolutamente delicioso menú que más que entregar. Comimos allí dos veces en un día, estaba tan bueno. Sus fichas (normal de patata y batata) y salsas son deliciosos. Su fuente de mezze era una sensación de sabor. Pan casero y gran variedad de sándwiches. Opciones de desayuno. El paraíso de la comida. Un sábado por la noche Reserva cumpleaños, llegamos a encontrar que más de la mitad los artículos en el menú, no estaban disponibles debido un presupuesto de un miembro del personal, completamente irritante" nos hemos quedado sin comida". Lejos de ser avergonzado o disculpas, éste parecía ser una cuestión de buen humor; algunos no a nosotros. De no haber sido una época en un ajetreado Sábado, simplemente han dejado, pero no habría habido ningún otro lugar a donde ir. Dado que habíamos reservado con antelación, que el restaurante tenía un número de contacto, y que uno de los miembros del personal menos opaco que el problema deje de gradas había ocurrido varias horas antes, podrían fácilmente haber 'llamó y nos dieron la opción de cancelar. Esto hubiera requerido el tipo de gestión que se encargó de su clientela, así que no sucedió. La comida no han oscilado de normal a muy mala. Yo tenía un trozo de pan de masa fermentada algunas cubiertas con cieno verde y patatas al romero - de ahí el título de esta crítica - que se llamó una pizza. Podría también llamar yo emperador del universo - una idea bastante bonito, pero apenas correctas. Sin embargo, la "pizza" era una de las especialidades culinarias. Uno de nuestro grupo tenía una desafortunada que deletrear risotto podría haber sido cargado en una escopeta y derribó un vuelo de urogallo. A pesar de que el restaurante estaba prácticamente vacío, la velocidad del servicio era glacial. Este es un establecimiento vegetariano, una de las razones por las que elegimos, y uno espera que la imaginación y la atención en un lugar como éste. Mal otra vez. Es en la CCA, un establecimiento de artes, así que quizás nos parte de alguien, película modernista, el restaurante "Sin Comida". Ah, cómo nos reímos. No. No volveré.

Vegan cafe based in CCA, good for snacks, coffee and drinks. Good range of craft beers and foreign lagers. If you can ignore the pretentious hipsters, atmosphere is quite calming though music sometimes suspect. Also possible to visit the exhibitions, unfortunately often contemporary 'art'.

My wife and I visited the Saramago Café on the opening night of the Glasgow Festival, and while there was definitely a buzz, what with so many bohos around, balancing wineglasses between their fingers and discussing all things aesthetic, we arrived just a few minutes after the kitchen had closed. We explained to our server that it had taken us a long time to get into town, and she returned a minute later to let us know that they could accommodate us. I found this very touching, and our order, cauliflower masala with naan bread, was terrific. Thanks very much!

Been coming here for years but won’t be back. Service shocking untrained staff. I had to wait 15 mins to get a menu which was a sheet of paper with million stains just like out from a dustbin. Very limited choices. Took another 20 mins to get attention of the waitress she looked very disinterested. We were told after placing the order that what I ordered was finished. Very disappointed wont be back. Place going down hill.

Been there a few times in the past and have always loved the food, but the past couple of times have been far from good. The menu has changed for the worse. Was there today for lunch and all I can say is ' I won't be back'. The service was slow and the waitress ignored my request to order some food. When she finally got the message that we were there to eat and not just take up their oxygen, she served us. No smile, no apology for keeping us wait for 20 mins. Anyway, as I said, ' I wont be back'

Buen servicio, personal amable y eficiente, gran menú, pero les gustaría salir de 2 de las mejores cosas en el menú (a las 6 de la tarde), y la comida estaba bien, pero un poco decepcionante. (en comparación con el estéreo, por ejemplo). La pizza no tenía queso vegano, pero necesitan una alternativa como anacardo tahini crema o como un reemplazo. El mezze no impresionar mucho y había demasiado pan en vez de real ingredientes mezze (y yo soy una persona que adora el pan! ). Se sentía un poco decepcionante que un lugar que con orgullo vegano no ha clavado aún. Yo recomendaría una visita a otros lugares locales vegano para ver lo que está haciendo la competencia. Además, el personal del bar de arriba no saben lo pesado de la cerveza es de Glasgow? !
